The Chase fans gobsmacked as programme includes fifth player in show first

The Chase fans were left stunned after yesterday’s show saw a fifth player join in for the first time ever.

Fans went into a frenzy as an adorable fifth player was added in a show first.

As the team attempted to beat the chaser and win the jackpot, fans were distracted by the fifth player, who was an adorable dog.

Contestant Craig sent viewers into meltdown as he brought along his dog.

Craig, a fundraiser for Guide Dogs For The Blind, is registered blind and came on the show with Fred, his guide dog.

The Chase fans flooded Twitter with comments of adoration for Fred.

One said: “Fred the guide dog is gorgeous, such a good boy.”

While another wrote: “Fred is my favourite ever contestant.”

A third gushed: “Who’s a good boy? FRED IS A GOOD BOY.”

“Want the team to win, purely because of Fred,” added a fourth.

Yesterday fans were left raging after a “nonsense” rule saw the contestants lose out on the cash prize.

Things were looking good as the contestants stepped up for the final chase against Anne Hegerty to win the money.

However, the team were not awarded a point after answering a question at the same time, despite their answers being correct.

Then Anne beat them with five seconds to spare, so fans were angry and claimed that the “wrong person” rule cost them their win.

Fans flooded Twitter with comments, fuming at the “unfair” rule.

One said: “HATE it when they do the ‘wrong person answer’ It was the RIGHT answer… MAN!”

While another wrote: “They would’ve won that but for the ‘wrong person answer’ nonsense! They both got the correct answer and answered at the same time!!!”

A third said: “Another question or two – that wrong person answer for example. They’d have won that.”

“Wrong person answer cost them!,” fumed a fourth.

The Chase continues on Monday at 5pm on ITV
