They penned: “Our brother David Kaffinetti passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday. We are devastated by this event.”David played the character of keyboardist Viv Savage in the 1984 mockumentary comedy film, This Is Spinal Tap. Meanwhile, keyboardist Dave was cast as Viv Savage for the fictional band, reports the Mirror.Post-film release, the group carried on as a band, even making concert and live telly appearances. Still playing Savage, David participated in Spinal Tap’s appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1984.However, by the close of that year, he exited the group and didn’t partake in any further Spinal Tap endeavours.
