Katie Price breaks silence as she reacts to topping UK chart with 2017 hit

Katie Price unexpectedly topped the iTunes singles chart with an unexpected song released eight years ago, and the former glamour model has now shared her verdict on the news13:33, 31 Aug 2025Katie released I Got U in 2017, but it has only just seen chart success (file)(Image: Getty Images for The Cambridge Union)Katie Price has broken her silence after she topped the charts. The former glamour model said she was “shocked” to see her 2017 song, I Got U, soar to the top of the iTunes singles chart on Saturday (August 30) and, taking to her Instagram story, shared her verdict on the news. It comes just weeks after the star celebrated another win, having finally sold her Mucky Mansion. While the single didn’t make much of an impact upon its release eight years ago, it has had an unexpected resurgence that even Katie “didn’t see coming at all.” “Wow! I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, in a million years, did [sic] I think I’d be experiencing the fact that my song is number one,” she told her 2.7million followers.”I mean, dreams can come true. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to be like a pop star.”And everyone was like, no Kate, you can’t sing, you’re rubbish, you’re this, you’re that. Well, it just goes to prove, if you keep… keep going, manifesting things, it can happen.”My childhood dream, today, has come true.”She went on to thank “everyone out there who has made this happen” and admitted she hadn’t expected to reach number one. “I’m shocked, I didn’t see this coming at all,” she confessed.”I’m number one at the moment, let’s see what happens tomorrow!”Speaking about the achievement, a representative for the former glamour model told The Sun: “This is a massive surprise for Kate, she’s always loved singing and this is a dream come true!”She is having so much support from the public and can’t thank them enough for her latest entrance into the charts.”I Got U isn’t Katie’s only musical venture. In 2006, she released a cover of A Whole New World, originally from the Aladdin film, with then-husband Peter Andre. The song spent five weeks in the charts, peaking at number 12.The pair’s ongoing feud has made headlines once again in recent weeks after Katie claimed she had been “banned” from appearing in a new ITV reality show starring the ex-couple’s daughter, Princess. Andre and his wife, Emily MacDonagh, feature in the series, titled The Princess Diaries. But in a statement, Andre accused Katie of making “baseless accusations” against him, adding that the children the couple share have been in his care since 2018 “for their safety.”Article continues belowTaking to X, people were quick to comment on the media personality’s achievement. One fan wrote: “Katie Price is officially NUMBER 1 on UK iTunes. The British Whitney is coming to slay.”Another wrote: “I Got U by Katie Price getting the Running Up That Hill / Murder on the Dancefloor treatment on iTunes.” Both Kate Bush and Sophie Ellis-Bextor saw their hits fly up the charts years after their initial release when they featured in Stranger Things and Saltburn respectively.Lyrics to Katie’s recent hit include: “Touch me like no one else/You’ve got me under your spell/Take me a million miles from where we are/Hold me until the moon don’t see the stars,” and: “I know, I know, I know/I got you, oh, I got you.” More

Jeremy Clarkson issues verdict on quitting UK for Dubai as he brands Britain ‘unsalvageable’

Jeremy Clarkson has issued a scathing verdict on the UK, branding the country an “unsalvageable basket case” and weighing in on whether he would consider leaving for DubaiDaniel Windham13:13, 31 Aug 2025Updated 13:15, 31 Aug 2025Jeremy Clarkson(Image: Getty)Jeremy Clarkson has delivered a blistering verdict on Britain’s prospects, branding the nation an “unsalvageable basket case” while pondering whether he might depart the UK for warmer climes. The ex-Top Gear presenter argued that countless individuals are contemplating fleeing Britain due to the “flatlining” economy, the “stagnant” property market, and law enforcement that has become “pretty much useless.”The 65-year-old suggested that numerous towns now “feel like pot-holed no-go areas,” with “everyone is always furious.”Penning his thoughts in The Times, Clarkson declared: “It’s easy to convince yourself that Britain is now an unsalvageable basket case, a country that’s slipped into a pair of Fairy Liquid butter trousers and is currently hurtling down the slide of doom into a broken future full of nothing but taxation, crime and disease. The only consolation we have is that France might get there first.”Jeremy Clarkson(Image: Getty)Clarkson, who has emerged as an unexpected champion for British farmers via his popular Amazon programme Clarkson’s Farm, has repeatedly slammed escalating expenses and administrative obstacles in farming, reports The Express. Most recently, he has targeted what he describes as “crippling” levies on agricultural workers, cautioning that heightened charges and stricter rules are rendering the sector unsustainable. The former Top Gear presenter has also expressed doubt about Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer’s blueprint for Britain, arguing his policies won’t lighten the load for rural communities.Clarkson previously stated that Starmer provided “nothing concrete” for farmers and branded politicians “clueless” about the practicalities of farm management. In this context, Clarkson highlighted Dubai’s increasing attraction for disenchanted Britons. “The emirate of Dubai seems to have realised this because subliminally and liminally there are adverts for the place everywhere I turn. No income tax. Petrol 50p a litre. The police do what they’re supposed to do, and it’s sunny most of the time. What’s not to like?”Jeremy Clarkson(Image: Getty)Nevertheless, he conceded that Dubai living might not match the fantasy many envision, despite statistics revealing a boom in British interest. “Figures out last week show that since 2020, the number of people thinking of moving from Britain to Dubai has risen by 420 per cent. There was a 50 per cent jump in the past 12 months alone. And many aren’t just ‘thinking of moving’—Brits are now the second-largest purchasers of property in the emirate, after Indians.”Clarkson disclosed that he has cherished recollections of Dubai from decades past, but maintains its contemporary version falls short of expectations.Article continues below“I used to enjoy Dubai back in the early Nineties when there were no people in it and only one hotel. But today, it feels like the bastard love child of Las Vegas and Mickey Mouse. If Katie Price’s face were an emirate, this is what it would look like.”Rather than trading the UK for Dubai, Clarkson encouraged Britons to remain “surrounded by friends and family” for three-and-a-half years, by which point the “horror of Starmer will have gone.” More

Harry Potter director rules out Cursed Child film with original cast for one reason

Harry Potter director Chris Columbus has revealed that a film adaptation of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will “never” happen – and he’s blamed JK Rowling for itAndy Gilpin Deputy Editor in Chief and Bang Showbiz11:18, 31 Aug 2025Chris Columbus has cast doubt on a Harry Potter reunion with the OG cast(Image: BANG Showbiz)Harry Potter director Chris Columbus has dismissed any possibility of reuniting the original cast for a Cursed Child film adaptation. The filmmaker – who directed the opening two films in the magical franchise – maintains that J. K. Rowling’s contentious anti-transgender comments have rendered it “impossible” for stars like Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) to make a comeback to the beloved series.Speaking to The Times about a potential movie based on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage production, he declared: “It’s never going to happen. Everyone in the cast has their own opinion, which is different from her opinion, which makes it impossible.”Radcliffe has previously stated he wouldn’t be keen to take on his famous character again for a Cursed Child adaptation.Speaking to the New York Times newspaper in 2022, he explained: “This isn’t the answer that anybody’s going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it’s not a part of my day-to-day life anymore.Article continues below”I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of ‘Potter’ okay and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life.”Whilst the Lost City star hasn’t completely dismissed the possibility, he emphasises that supporters would need to wait considerably longer to witness his return as Harry. He commented: “I’m never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now.” More
