The ‘Trap House’ rapper is pitted against his rival, the ‘TM104: The Legend of the Snowman’ rhymer, in the next installment of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s online series.

    Nov 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Longtime rap rivals Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy are to face off in the next online Verzuz battle.
The hip-hop stars have been feuding for 15 years after Gucci Mane was linked to the death of one of Jeezy’s associates, Pookie Loc, in 2005, and now they’re taking their beef to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s popular series, during which musicians and rappers compete to win a livestream battle by performing snippets from their back catalogues.
Gucci replaces T.I., who was originally set to challenge Jeezy.
Speaking to “The Breakfast Club” last week, Jeezy revealed he reached out to Gucci Mane and asked him to join him on Verzuz, but his rival “respectfully declined.”

A winner is later decided by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
Highlights have included Alicia Keys vs. John Legend, Brandy vs. Monica, DMX vs. Snoop Dogg, and Patti LaBelle vs. Gladys Knight. Gucci Mane and Jeezy will launch the new season of VERZUZ on Friday (19Nov20) at 8pm ET here: https://twitter.com/verzuzonline.

Dave Stewart Told Katy Perry Not to Try Too Hard After Debut Album Flop

    WENN

The Eurythmics star recalls the ‘I Kissed a Girl’ hitmaker reaching out to him to seek help to produce a hit after her Christian rock-inspired album flopped.

    Nov 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry’s breakout hit “I Kissed a Girl” was inspired by a conversation with Eurythmics star Dave Stewart.
The British star reveals he worked with the relatively unknown Perry at his studio in Surrey, England, and it was during that period he urged her to write the 2008 single from her album, “One of the Boys”.
According to Stewart, the singer was looking to kickstart her pop career after her first solo album, the Christian rock-inspired “Katy Hudson”, was a commercial failure.
She turned to the “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” star in hopes of producing a hit – but, according to Stewart, she was trying too hard to strike gold.

“You know a lot of young songwriters, they start off trying to write a song about the world and they try to fit everything into the song,” he tells Deep Hidden Meaning Radio With Nile Rodgers on Apple Music 1.
“And I said, ‘You should just write about whatever you’re feeling and things that happened that blew your mind.’ ”
Perry allegedly quickly shot back, “I kissed a girl and I liked it,” to which he told the star, “You’re talking my language there!”
“I Kissed a Girl” has gone on to become the 10th best-selling single of the 21st century.
Ten years later in a 2018 interview, she regretted the stereotypes in the song. “We’ve really changed, conversationally, in the past 10 years,” she told Glamour. “We’ve come a long way. Bisexuality wasn’t as talked about back then, or any type of fluidity. If I had to write that song again, I probably would make an edit on it. Lyrically, it has a couple of stereotypes in it. Your mind changes so much in 10 years, and you grow so much. What’s true for you can evolve.”

Eddie Van Halen's Son Announces Tribute Song for Late Father

    Instagram

Wolfgang Van Halen remembers his late father in a new solo song called ‘Distance’ which is coming out more than a month after the Van Halen rocker passed away.

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Wolfgang Van Halen is dedicating his debut solo single to his late father, Eddie Van Halen.
The guitar great lost his battle with cancer on 6 October (20), aged 65 and, in a statement announcing new track “Distance”, he revealed the tune is dedicated to the rocker.
“‘Distance’ is a song that was initially written for the debut album, but was going to be held for a later time,” he said. “As my pop continued to struggle with various health issues, I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him.”

      See also…

“While this song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their own life,” concluded the Van Halen bassist, adding that he “never anticipated ‘Distance’ would be the first song of mine that people would hear, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release along with me.”
Wolfgang has been working on a solo album for the past five years and, in 2018, producer Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette revealed they’d completed the project. A release had been set for this year but, amid the pandemic, it has yet to materialise.
“I’m working on it! The state of the world has really thrown a wrench into how I saw this releasing (given that no touring is able to happen until this all blows over), but I have a few ideas that I’m really excited about, so stay tuned!” he tweeted in July, responding to a fan question.
Back in 2015, Eddie enthused that his son’s album sounds “like AC/DC meets Van Halen meets aggressive pop,” adding, “The riffs are catchy. It’s a little of everything and sounds like a freight train coming at you. I’ve never heard anything quite like it. It’s so powerful that I’m jealous.”

Niall Horan Descends Into 'Toxic' Songwriting Phase During Lockdown

    Instagram

The One Direction member admits to writing ‘absolute, toxic, toxic stuff’ after releasing his second solo album on what he described as the ‘worst week in music history.’

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Niall Horan went through a phase of writing “toxic” songs after struggling with the disappointment of releasing an album at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Niall debuted his second solo record, “Heartbreak Weather”, back in March – just as the world was heading into lockdown – in what he describes as the “worst week in music history.”
The “Slow Hands” hitmaker confesses he’s not quite been himself while writing music since, but is now rejuvenated and starting work on his next record.
“I’d like to release stuff next year, I doubt it would be this year, and just kind of writing some bits getting in the studio when I can here,” he tells Britain’s Music Week magazine. “I went through a stage of writing absolute, toxic, toxic stuff. I’m looking forward to kind of getting into the room with some people and recording some stuff.”

      See also…

Explaining how he has gradually come to terms with writing in lockdown, he adds, “I started doing a bit of writing in the last sort of eight weeks or so and I didn’t want to force that at the start.”
“It was alright once I had my head wrapped around the fact that I wasn’t touring and the album was released on that particular time. I just realised, right we’re going to be in this for the long haul and kind of enjoyed the time at home.”
However, he’s determined to perform his next record on the road.
“I would like to come back with a bang,” Niall explains. “I don’t know if I’d like to just throw a song out in the middle of this. I like the idea of getting around the planet and I’ve learned that the hard way this year! So I would like the world to be at a point where I can get out about and do the promo.”

Clint Black and Wife Announce New Duet Following 'The Masked Singer' Elimination

    WENN

Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black are releasing a new single called ‘Til the End of Time’, only a few days after they were eliminated from ‘The Masked Singer.

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black are releasing a duet following their appearance on U.S. TV competition “The Masked Singer”.
The pair were unveiled as the Snow Owls on the latest episode of the programme on Wednesday (11Nov20), when the couple was sent home. And despite their time on the show coming to an early end, Lisa has credited “The Masked Singer” for helping her become more comfortable with singing with her spouse again – so much so that they’re releasing duet “Til the End of Time” on 3 December (20).

      See also…

“(I decided) I’d write a new duet, and it was three days and I’m thinking of the songs that I’ve already written for us, and it was three days of banging my head against the wall and I was about to decide that this is hard, I can’t just do this now,” Clint told Entertainment Tonight. “And then I came upon the idea for the song and the opening line – which really inspired the rest of it – which was, ‘I can tell you how the story never ends.’ ”
“And that’s us. So the song is Til the End of Time. She sang great on it and people are going to love hearing her voice in it.”
In their last stint on “The Masked Singer”, the duo did a cover of “The Prayer” by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. They were then pitted against the Popcorn in the Smackdown to determine who stayed and who went home.

London Hudson also has another band, playing in Classless Act along with Niko Tsangaris. They opened for London’s famous dad on a 2018 tour.
London explained in an interview why he chose drums instead of picking up guitar like his father. “I don’t want to live in his shadow, when I started playing in the band. That’s the main reason I don’t play guitar or stringed instruments,” so he said.
Meanwhile, Tye Trujillo previously performed live with Korn and Suicidal Tendencies.
In a 2016 interview, Robert Trujillo said he never forced Tye to follow in his footsteps. “I always felt that if he wanted to embrace an instrument, great; I’d try to help him with it.” In another interview, he gushed about his son being “an amazing bass player and a really great writer. The bass lines that he’s writing and the riffs, I’m like, ‘Man, I wish I had written that.’ ”

Maren Morris Hits Back at CMA Critics for Saying She's Not Truly Country

    WENN

The ‘I Could Use a Love Song’ crooner has responded to the internet trolls finding fault with her multiple triumphs at the recent Country Music Association Awards.

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Maren Morris has slammed critics insisting she isn’t truly a country music artist.
The 29-year-old musician won three awards at the 2020 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards this week (begs09Nov20), including Female Vocalist of the Year, but that hasn’t stopped trolls questioning whether she’s deserving of the victory.
Taking to her Twitter page, the “GIRL” star fired back at the negativity, insisting she “still can get hurt when people claim I’m ‘not country,’ ” and insisting the recognition from the organisation means more than the words of a handful of haters.

“When I stood there accepting @cma Song of the Year, I realized it is much harder to forge your own path & sound than attempt to be a knock off of someone who’s already pioneered the genre,” she penned, adding, “Thank you for accepting me.”
Maren also picked up the Single of the Year and Song of the Year for “The Bones” at the ceremony, and was also a performer at the CMAs, which took place at Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee in front of a live, socially-distanced audience filled with nominees and their guests.
During her acceptance speech at the CMAs, Maren Morris shone a light on black female country musicians Linda Martell, Yola, Mickey Guyton, and Brittney Spencer. “There are so many amazing black women that pioneered and continue to pioneer this genre, and I know they’re gonna come after me, they’ve come before me, but you’ve made this genre so, so beautiful. I hope you know that we see you. Thank you for making me so inspired as a singer in this genre,” she said.
