AceShowbiz – The Beastie Boys have allowed officials at Joe Biden’s presidential campaign to use their classic hit “Sabotage” for one of the first times ever in a new ad.
The 1994 track featured in a new spot which aired during NFL (National Football League) games on Sunday, October 18, highlighting the devastating impact the pandemic has had on music venues across the U.S.
It features an interview with Joe Malcoun, the owner of The Blind Pig grassroots venue in Ann Arbor, Michigan, who slams “the reality of (President Donald) Trump’s Covid response,” noting, “We don’t know how much longer we can survive without any revenue.”
“A lot of restaurants and bars that have been mainstays for years will not make it through this,” he adds. “For 50 years, The Blind Pig has been open and crowded, but right now, it’s an empty room.”
“This is Donald Trump’s economy,” he continues. “There is no plan and you don’t know how to go forward.”

The hip-hop superstar and fashion mogul first teased a collaboration with the ‘Suge’ rapper over the weekend, sharing on social media a screenshot of their recent text messages.

    Oct 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – It looks like Kanye West and DaBaby really have a joint song coming soon. Just one day after teasing the collaboration, the rapper and fashion mogul shared on social media a snippet of their project which is apparently a remix of his presidential campaign song “Nah Nah Nah”.
In the snippet, DaBaby could be heard rapping over trap beats and trilling flutes, “Let me get ’em Ye/ They gonna hate on me [unintelligible] anyway/ They only call me when they have a bill to pay/ Ain’t nobody ask me how I feel today.” Kanye wrote in the caption, “DABABY TURNED THIS VERSE AROUND SO QUICK ITS INSPIRATIONAL TO SEE HOW FAST WE CAN MOVE AS A PEOPLE. I HAD TO GIVE YALL AT LEAST A SNIPPET.”

Kanye first teased a collaboration with DaBaby over the weekend, sharing a screenshot of the text message he had with the “Suge” rapper. “Thank you for everything bro,” Kanye told his fellow rapper, who responded, “Nah Thank you! Been inspired. Still inspired! Since graduation,” a nod to Kanye’s 2007 album.
Kanye originally shared “Nah Nah Nah” as a “theme song” for a viral clip, before making the full version of the song available on all streaming platforms last week. Produced by himself and Dem Jointz, the song finds Kanye touching on a number of subjects, including his presidential run and his complaints about the news media. He also raps about his recent issues with how his record label has been handling his masters.

“If I put myself in harm’s way to get my own masters/ They’ll put theyself in harm’s way to stay the master,” he spits his bars. “They’ll put theyself in harm’s way ’cause they ain’t askin’/ They’ll put theyself in harm’s way, the slaves are massive.”

  • Brian Wilson 'Very Surprised' About Beach Boys Appearance at Donald Trump's Fundraiser

    Instagram/WENN/Instar

After it was reported that the rock band would headline the POTUS’ Newport Beach campaign event, its co-founder makes it clear neither he nor original member Al Jardine has anything to do with it.

    Oct 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Brian Wilson has distanced himself from Donald Trump’s Newport Beach fundraiser headlined by the touring version of The Beach Boys, insisting he has “absolutely nothing to do with” the appearance.
It was reported on Sunday (October 18) morning that the Beach Boys would be the main attraction at the Orange County campaign event but, in a statement to Variety, Wilson’s spokesperson makes it clear that neither he nor original member Al Jardine will be involved.
“We have absolutely nothing to do with the Trump benefit today in Newport Beach. Zero,” they shared. “We didn’t even know about it and were very surprised to read about it in the Los Angeles Times.”

The iteration of the group performing for Trump and his supporters is a touring version of the group currently headed up by Mike Love – who has not been shy about appearing with Trump in the past.
“I don’t have anything negative to say about the president of the USA,” he previously told Uncut magazine. “We did attend the inauguration. That was a moving experience… Donald Trump has never been anything but kind to us. We have known him for many a year. We’ve performed at some of his venues at fundraisers and so on.”
However, Wilson and Jardine have been less forgiving when it comes to the controversial politician and his organization and, in February, they officially signed on to a Change.org petition urging a boycott of the touring Beach Boys, after Love and company booked a headlining gig at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada, where Donald Trump Jr. was the keynote speaker.
“This organization supports trophy hunting, which both Al and I are emphatically opposed to,” Wilson said in a statement at the time. “There’s nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition.”

  • Stevie Nicks Recalls Using Sly Stone's 'Magic Room' to Work on 'Dreams'

    WENN/Ivan Nikolov

In a new interview, the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman admits to having completed the writing and recording of her band’s hit in just 20 minutes at the secret recording space in San Francisco.

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Stevie Nicks wrote TikTok sensation hit “Dreams” in funk legend Sly Stone’s secret recording space at a studio in San Francisco, California.
The singer reveals she and her Fleetwood Mac bandmates were finishing off demos for their 1977 album “Rumors” when she got a melody stuck in her head and tried to find a quiet place where she could complete the new tune.
“We were up at the Record Plant in San Francisco and were almost done with the 12 demos,” Nicks tells Yahoo Entertainment. “Everybody was working on something else in the main studio, and I had this idea. I was kind of wandering around the studio, looking for somewhere where I could curl up with my Fender Rhodes (guitar) and my lyrics and a little cassette tape recorder.”
“This guy who I didn’t even know said, ‘Are you looking for a place to go and play?’ I said, ‘I am. I have a song in my head and I want to record it.’ And he said, ‘OK, now, you can never tell anybody, but I have a place where you can go,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, a magic room! Oh my God, I’ll never tell anybody.’ ”

Stevie was led to a “full-on studio that none of us ever knew existed in this building,” adding, “It’s a big studio with a sunken circular shape, actually like a lighthouse, like a circle, and there’s keyboards all around, a bunch of keyboards that went down this tunnel kind of thing. And then over to the side was this big half-moon circular bed with all black and red velvet. It sounds a little garish, but it was actually beautiful. And I said, ‘What is this?’ And he said, ‘This is Sly Stone’s studio.’ ”
Nicks sat on the bed and had “Dreams” written and recorded in just 20 minutes.
“I walked out back down the hallway and I walked into Fleetwood Mac’s studio, and I said, ‘Listen up, everybody. I think I have something that you want to hear.’ I played them a little recording of ‘Dreams’ and we recorded that song that night.”
The track has become a hit all over again after Fleetwood Mac fan Nathan Apodaca’s viral video, in which he skateboards while miming along to the song, became a TikTok sensation, leading to a string of copycat performances, including one from Mick Fleetwood himself.

  • T.I. Confirms His Friend Peed on Drake in New Album, the Latter Unfollows Him

    WENN/FayesVision

Rumors of Terrance Beasley a.k.a. Cap urinating on the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker were first started by Meek Mill, who rapped on ‘Wanna Know’, ‘You let Tip homie piss on you in a movie theater n***a, we ain’t forget.’

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Now that T.I. has confirmed a long-standing rumor surrounding him and Drake, it appears the latter has no reason to follow his fellow rapper any longer. The Canadian superstar hit the unfollow button on the “No Mediocre” rapper’s Instagram page after Tip revealed in his new album, “The L.I.B.R.A.”, that his friend did pee on Drake before.
Tip made the confession on his song, “We Did It Big”, featuring John Legend. “Caught a body, spent millions appealin’ your case,” he raps. “While I’m fightin’ my own, somehow got you home/ So drunk in L.A., end up pissin’ on Drake, s**t/F**k it, that’s still my brother since back in the trap house.”

Now, days after the album hit the stores, Tip is no longer on Drake’s following list.
Rumors of the incident first surfaced in public back in 2015, when Drake was in a full-blown beef with Meek Mill. Releasing a diss song called “Wanna Know”, the Philly rapper spitted on the tune, “You let Tip homie piss on you in a movie theater n***a, we ain’t forget/Real n***as back in style this s**t is lit/This that Ja Rule s**t and 50 Cent.”
Soon after Meek’s claims made headlines, sources explained that the incident occured during a private screening of “Takers” in 2010. Terrance Beasley a.k.a. Cap, who was killed in prison nearly a year ago, was allegedly highly intoxicated and began urinating on himself. Further reports suggested that he got into it with Drake and his crew, with some pee unintentionally getting on the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker.
Drake, learning of this, reportedly got up from his seat 30 minutes into the movie, cursing out and leaving the venue.

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Following an eight-month hiatus, Why Don’t We are back better than ever. After one studio album, six extended plays, and numerous singles, Zach Herron, Jack Avery, Daniel Seavey, Corbyn Besson, and Jonah Marais finally broke into Billboard Hot 100.
The boyband, who won Choice Music Group at Teen Choice Awards last year, returned with a new catchy single called “Fallin’ ” released in September this year. They climbed to No. 37 on Billboard Hot 100 and scored Top 40 radio hit with their infectious love declaration.
The song featured a drum sample from Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead” off the rapper’s 2013 album “Yeezus”, with the five boys adding their own twists to it. Following a strong opening week, it reached No. 1 on the US iTunes sales chart and entered No. 38 on pop radio.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the boys revealed they had to clear the sample with more than a dozen writers and Kanye was the first to say yes when they asked to borrow the beat.

“And then we come to find out there’s 15 other writers on the song, Daft Punk, but we did get it cleared,” they said. “That was amazing for us, the fact that they all were behind the song and cleared it and agreed with us using their drums was huge for us. It almost felt like they gave us their blessing in a way, it was like ‘Whoa, this is crazy.’ ”
“Fallin’ ” marked a new era for the boys as they continued to evolve and polish their skills. “We’re all playing instruments now!” Marais told People in a separate interview.
The five boys did showcase their skills in the “Fallin’ ” music video. “We’ve grown up quite a bit,” Marais said. “We’re now the band we’ve dreamed of being.
“This will be the most exciting era of WDW,” he added. “We wrote and produced this new music and it’s the most genuine we’ve ever been.”

  • Jennifer Lopez Defended Against Backlash for Calling Herself 'Black Girl' on New Song

    Instagram

On her Maluma collaboration ‘Lonely’, the diva sings, ‘Yo siempre sere tu negrita del Bronx,’ which translates into, ‘I’ll always be your black girl from the Bronx.’

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lopez recently collaborated with Maluma on a Latin song, “Lonely”, though it looks like people did not appreciate the song as much. Following the release of the song, the Bronx diva received backlash because one of the verses found her referring to herself as a black girl.
J.Lo sang on the song, “Yo siempre sere tu negrita del Bronx,” which translated into, “I’ll always be your black girl from the Bronx.” Once people, especially the Black community, learned of the translation, they quickly took to social media to blast the actress and singer because she is far from being black.

For instance, one person said, “J Lo mad irritating. Now everybody wanna be Black. Girl go the f**k on somewhere.” There was also someone who commented, “I don’t like J.Lo she’s just a wanna be black girl that can hit a two step. She’s an All Lives Matter supporter and now she’s calling herself a ‘black girl from the Bronx’ idek why she still makes music my dog has better vocal agility than her. Just no.”
J.Lo herself has yet to respond to the backlash, though some people have since come to her defense by pointing out that the word “negrita” actually refers to dark or brown skin Latin girls, not African American. Some also said that it is a term of endearment. “If you aren’t Hispanic… don’t comment. FYI in our culture You don’t literally need to be black to be negrita or negrito,” one said.
“Wow !! You guys need to get your facts straight first !! That’s what brown skinned people call themselves in the BRonx!! Negrita or negrito omg chill !!! That doesn’t mean BLACK,” another echoed the sentiment. “Y’all doing too much it’s a pet name doesn’t translate to be black girl now if she said Morena from the Bronx that’ll be different,” someone else hit back at the critics.
