  • Elton John Fires Back at Rod Stewart for Criticizing His Tour and Retirement

    Instagram

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer suggests his friend-turned-enemy Rod Stewart is a hypocrite for complaining about his tour while the latter is promoting his own road show.
    Oct 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Elton John has reignited his feud with Rod Stewart by slamming his former pal for criticising his retirement plans in a new chapter of his autobiography.
The pair’s relationship soured when in a TV interview Rod said Elton’s big announcement in January 2018 that he would go on one last mammoth world tour and then retire was “dishonest” and “stinks of selling tickets.”
In the new paperback version of Elton’s autobiography “Me”, the “Rocket Man” singer details his fallout with Rod and says he won’t take lectures on rock authenticity from someone who has moved into crooning in later life.

“I certainly didn’t feel like I needed a lecture on the feral spirit of rock and roll from someone who’d spent most of the last decade crooning his way through the Great American Songbook and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” he writes, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper.
“What’s more, I thought he had a f**king cheek, complaining about me promoting a tour while he was sat on a TV show promoting his own tour.”
Rod, who blamed the offending comments on his drinking before the interview, recently revealed that he and Elton are still at odds over the remarks.
“We don’t talk to each other anymore. Big falling out,” he said on U.K. radio host Chris Evans’ “How to Wow” podcast. “Last time I emailed him I said, ‘I’ve got this football pitch, would you like the boys to come up?’ You know, cos they both love football,” before revealing he had received no response.

  • Demi Lovato Doesn't Care If Anti-Trump Song Destroys Her Career

    WENN

The ‘Cool for the Summer’ hitmaker comes to her own defense as she is facing backlash from some of her fans following the release of her protest song ‘Commander In Chief’.
    Oct 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato is standing by her controversial new single, which attacks U.S. leader Donald Trump, insisting she values “integrity” over record sales.
The singer teamed up with Billie Eilish’s producer brother, Finneas, to record “Commander In Chief”, which she released without fanfare in America on Tuesday evening (13Oct20). She will perform the hard-hitting song she wrote with Finneas and Julia Michaels, among others, at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday.
The track’s debut prompted an intense response on Instagram, with some fans slamming the star and suggesting her political stance could “ruin” her career.
One devotee even wrote, “I’m personally ashamed to be a Lovatic right now but no matter how hard it is I’m not letting this song change my feelings about you especially after everything you have helped me with. I really hope this doesn’t ruin your career Demetria.”

Lovato took to social media on Wednesday to respond to her critics, writing, “I literally don’t care if this ruins my career. This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that.”
“I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans. I’ll take integrity in my work over sales any day.”
The lyrics include the lines, “We were taught when we were young / If we fight for what’s right there won’t be justice for just some / We won’t give up, stand our ground / We’ll be in the streets while you’re bunkering down / Loud and proud, best believe / We’ll still take knee, while you’re Commander in Chief.”

  • Stevie Nicks Claims Fleetwood Mac Male Members Hate Confident Woman Like Her

    WENN

The Fleetwood Mac frontman talks about her feud with her former bandmate and lover Lindsey Buckingham as she’s asked about any possible reunion with him.
    Oct 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Stevie Nicks has no intention of ever performing with her ex-lover and former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham again.
Lindsey was booted from the band two years ago when he made comments at Stevie’s expense when Fleetwood Mac were honoured as the MusiCares Person of the Year in 2018.
Although she got in touch with him when he suffered a heart attack last year (19), the “Edge of Seventeen” hitmaker says their musical relationship is at an end.
Asked if she’d ever appear on stage again in an interview with The Guardian she says, “probably never,” before going on to say that she hasn’t regarded any of the group as close pals since the mid-1970s.

She explains that when asked, “‘Do you get along?’ We’d go: ‘Not really.’ They’d say: ‘Are you friends?’ and we’d go: ‘Not really.’ ‘Do you see each other when you’re not on tour?’ ‘Er, no.’ It has been like that since 1976.”
Stevie also accused Lindsey of being “jealous” of the success of her 1981 album “Bella Donna” as he left a copy she gifted him on the studio floor and refused to listen to it. She went on to claim all of her male bandmates and producers “hated that kind of confidence in a woman.”
Her comments come after drummer Mick Fleetwood said he and his ex-bandmate were on good terms but admitted the guitarist’s return would be complicated.
“All I can say is really openly is that Lindsey Buckingham and the work he has done with the band is never going to go away and we have a functioning band with the changes that we made (sic),” he explained. “You know time heals and it was lovely to be able to talk with him.”
Although Stevie replied “no” when asked by The Guardian if she’d spoken to Lindsey since his departure, the 72-year-old singer did tell the Los Angeles Times she had sent her best wishes after his heart attack.

  • Stevie Wonder Marks Music Comeback With New Politically-Charged Songs – Listen!

    WENN/Guillermo Proano

Both ‘Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate’ and ‘Where is Our Love Song’ mark his first music since leaving Motown Records after almost six decades under the legendary imprint.
    Oct 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – He’s back! After four years of not unleashing any new music, Stevie Wonder has finally made his return to the music industry by releasing not just one, but two brand new songs. The new tunes additionally marked the singer’s first music since he left Motown Records after almost six decades under the legendary imprint.
Both songs find Stevie getting political. “Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate” features the veteran singer singing about protests until change is made. “You say you’re sick and tired of us protesting/ I say not had enough to make a change,” he sings on the harmonica-laden track. “You say you believe that ‘all lives matter’/ I say I don’t believe the f**k you do.”
    [embedded content]
Meanwhile, on “Where Is Our Love Song”, Stevie rhymes about hope and humanity. He sings on the song, “Where are our words with hope?/ Oh how we need those words of hope/ Not the kind of hope that leaves some of us behind/ But the kind of hope that lifts up all humankind.”

In a press conference, Stevie revealed that he first wrote “Where Is Our Love Song”, which featured the likes of Busta Rhymes and Rapsody, at the age of 18. However, at the time, he wasn’t sure what to make of it. “But then there came this year that we’re dealing with, and there came all of the confusion and all of the hate, and all the east versus west, left versus right, just heartbreak,” he said.
Switching the topic to his other song, Stevie said it was originally meant to be a song about a man pursuing a woman who wants to leave their future up to fate. Later though, he changed his tune. “Most recently, I was listening to some of the old things that I had kind of done, but never finished the words to, and I was thinking about where we were in the world,” he explained.
Stevie hinted that both songs are going to be featured on his new EP or an ongoing project called “Through the Eyes of Wonder”.

  • Sara Bareilles Sobbing While Recording Nick Cordero Tribute Song

    WENN

The ‘Waitress’ creator and another friend Meg Toohey are overwhelmed with emotions as they are recording a new song called ‘Lucky Streak’ in honor of the late actor.
    Oct 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nick Cordero’s pals Meg Toohey and Sara Bareilles wept as they recorded new song “Lucky Streak” in honour of the late Broadway star.
The Tony-nominated star of “Rock of Ages”, “Bullets Over Broadway”, “The Toxic Avenger”, and “Waitress” died from Covid-19 complications in July (20) and, keeping his memory alive, the new track is a biographical look at Cordero’s life.
    [embedded content]
Written and produced by Toohey, “Lucky Streak” tells the story of his time in New York with wife Amanda Kloots and their young son Elvis and their move to Los Angeles to start a new life before his untimely death aged 41.

“Nick was an incredibly vibrant and fun-loving guy,” Toohey tells People. “He loved music and loved performing. He also loved hanging ‘as one of us’ in the band room at Waitress and would talk about his band and guitars.”
She added, “The entire cast and crew loved him dearly and he brought an incredible positive light to any experience he was part of.”
“Getting to sing on Meg Toohey’s gorgeous tribute to our friend Nick was a gift,” adds Bareilles. “I wept as I sang. This song is cathartic… beautiful and bittersweet and speaks of the pain of love and loss and the gently universal truth that we must hold it all lightly and enjoy our lucky streaks; these perfectly imperfect lives. What a song.”
The pair, who wrote “Waitress”, were accompanied by the band players from the musical including Nadia Digiallonardo, Rich Mercurio, Lee Nadel, Yair Evnine, and Adam Kaufmann.
“Lucky Streak” is available to stream and download now.
