  • Artist of the Week: Marshmello

The EDM artist dominates Billboard Dance chart as he teams up with Demi Lovato on new single ‘OK Not to Be OK’ to help fans struggling with mental health issues.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – As the world is facing unprecedented tough times, Marshmello stepped forward to initiate a dialogue with fans about their mental health and well being. He teamed up with Demi Lovato to raise awareness on suicide prevention with new single “OK Not to Be OK”.
The pair confronted their younger, insecure selves in the music video while Demi sang, “Feeling like a drop in the ocean / That don’t nobody notice / Maybe it’s all just in your head / Feeling like you’re trapped in your own skin / And now your body’s frozen/ Broken down, you’ve got nothing left.”
The song was quickly embraced by fans as it rose from No. 5 to No. 1 on Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales. It additionally climbed up to No. 22 on Billboard Adult Top 40 while reaching No. 36 on Hot 100 and No. 24 on Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

Most importantly, the DJ just wanted to help his fans find peace amid these depressing times. “Find something that you can fully dive into so your mind doesn’t focus on the negatives. It’s important we have these outlets so our mind can ‘turn off’ for a while,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Focusing on the negatives isn’t going to get us anywhere. i like to pick one goal a day to attack. then when the week is over I can look back and list all my accomplishments (sic),” he added.
While he used most of his idle times to work on new music, he tried to balance it out with relaxing activities to keep stress at bay. “I’ve been doing a lot of gaming. as a competitive person, video games have given me an outlet to physically relax while letting my mind continue to run. It might not be considered ‘productive’ but it’s been my outlet,” so he explained.

  • DaBaby Assures He Wasn't in Vicinity After His Video Shoot Ended in Gunfire

    Facebook

According to a witness, a woman has been taken to a nearby hospital due to an injury that was caused by the incident, though there are currently no words on her condition.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – DaBaby’s recent music video shooting in North Carolina did not end as everyone in the crew probably hoped for. Instead of wrapping up the shooting without any problems, the shooting reportedly ended abruptly after a gunfire erupted nearby the location. Footage of what happened during the incident has also made its way round online.
In one of the clips, cars were seen speeding up and down the road and a dozen people gathered in a crowd when all of sudden several shots went off. Another clip showed police approaching the scene where a seemingly injured woman was lying on the ground. The man behind the camera could be heard saying, “They hit the lady, man. They was shootin’ at us and shot a muthaf**kin’ lady … she ain’t die on the scene.”

He continued, “I hope that lady makes it to the hospital and survives. Bitch ass n***as. Police, too, I ain’t trustin’ none of these n***as.”

Following the incident, DaBaby took to his Instagram account to assure his fans that he was not in the vicinity when the shooting took place. He also used this opportunity to promote his new music video. “I wasn’t there for the ‘shootout’ I’m hearing bout,” he said on the photo-sharing site, alongside a video that seemed to be from his upcoming visuals. “I do got a new video on the way tho.”

His attorney doubled down on his statement while speaking to TMZ, telling the publication that the shootout indeed took place near his music video shooting location. However, the rapper nor any of the crews were related to that. His attorney additionally told the news site that DaBaby “sends his heartfelt prayers to anyone injured or otherwise adversely affected as a result of this shooting incident.”

  • Jon Bon Jovi Dismisses Whining Fans Who Are Not Into His New Sound

    WENN

The Bon Jovi rocker has no time for his old fans who criticize his socially conscious music as he releases his new studio album ‘2020’ that documents recent events.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jon Bon Jovi doesn’t care if his band’s fans want him to record rock anthems like he did in the 1980s, as he’s more comfortable with making socially conscious music in his old age.
The 58 year old’s new record, “2020”, features tracks that document recent events like the COVID-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota, and the 2019 shooting in Dayton, Ohio, when nine people were shot to death outside a bar.
He also addresses other issues including the struggles of wounded veterans and immigrants, and has no time for fans who moan he’s no longer writing the feel-good rock songs that propelled Bon Jovi to fame.
“I am nothing more than witness to history,” the “Livin’ on a Prayer” hitmaker tells the BBC. “I still have hardcore fans that will moan about this record and say, ‘They haven’t been good since the 80s.’ ”

“Well guess what? If you want us to rewrite You Give Love A Bad Name, it’s not going to happen. My hair is turning grey. I’m cool with that. I’m just who I am. And if you want to come along for the ride, amen.”
    “2020” is out now.
The rocker also paid tribute to lives lost to Covid-19 on the new album. His son, Jacob, and bandmates David Bryan and Everett Bradley survived the virus after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this year (20), but other people in his life were not so lucky.
“I lost friends and neighbours. A dear friend of mine lost his mum. The guy that sold me this apartment beat cancer but lost his life to COVID-19,” he said.

  • Rihanna Accused of Appropriating Islam for Using Song That Contains Hadith at Her Fashion Show

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

Created by London-based producer Coucou Chloe, the song is called ‘Doom’ and contains a hadith that explains signs of the day of the judgement and the end of times.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rihanna held her second Savage x Fenty show over the weekend, though it didn’t end without controversy. The singer and entrepreneur has been accused of appropriating Islam for using a song that contains a narration of a hadith during the show.
The song is called “Doom” and created by a London-based producer named Coucou Chloe more than two years ago. Coucou herself previously admitted to remixing an audio that turned out to be a hadith explaining signs of the day of the judgement and the end of times for the song. She wrote at the time, “For those who were wondering what were the vocal samples – I didn’t make the vocals on this one as you can easily guess,” providing a YouTube link to the hadith narration.

Learning of this, people started bashing Rihanna and urged her to do more research before making a decision. “The fact that the song is called ‘Doom’ & the hadith is about the end of times? @rihanna, you’re cancelled I don’t care,” one person said. Another upset online user offered a lengthy response in regards to the issue, “i can’t let Rihanna have a pass w appropriating Islam like for her first show the models wore a scarf around their heads and it looked like HIJAB and her second show she used a track that remixed a HADITH….why is no one talking about this, my religion is not y’all’s aesthetic.”
Referring to the fact that Rihanna used to date Hassan Jameel, someone wrote, “she dated a saudi guy for years ! the hadith she used is about doomday when the song is called doom … TRY AGAIN. rihanna f**ked up.” One other told Rihanna to use her own songs rather than the controversial track, “hey rih why did u choose doom song for your show???It’s hurt to know that. Your songs are amazing and have nice lyrics. It’s better to play ur own songs than THAT DOOM.”
Rihanna’s team has yet to respond to the backlash.

  • Rihanna Says New Album Will Offer 'a Moment of Relief' After 'Heavy' Year

    WENN

The Fenty beauty mogul talks about her next studio installment, saying she just wants to have fun with her new music as the world looks bleak and ‘everything is so heavy.’
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rihanna’s long-awaited new album will be a moment of relief for fans following a “heavy” year.
Fans have been longing for the “Work” hitmaker’s forthcoming ninth album ever since the release of her 2016 effort “Anti”, and she’s not shied away from teasing the release while keeping from sharing too many details.
Speaking to The Associated Press following her “Savage x Fenty Vol. 2” event earlier this week (ends04Oct20), she revealed she’s looking at tracks that are upbeat for the record.

After hosting “tons of writing camps” for the album, she’s asking herself, “What do I feel personally? What do I want to put out, and as an artist, how do I want to play it with my art? How do I want to interpret that? How do I want to reimagine it? Because it’s been so structured before.”
“You do pop, you did this genre, you do that, you do radio, but now it’s just like, what makes me happy?” she adds. “I just want to have fun with music. Everything is so heavy. The world that we live in is a lot. It’s overwhelming every single day. And with the music, I’m using that as my outlet.”
While RiRi is currently focusing her energy on her fashion brand, rumors of her new album have been flying around on the internet. Earlier this year, she was reported to reunite with her frequent collaborator Eminem for a new song.
Late last year, she posted a clip of a dog bobbing its head to House of Pain’s classic hit “Jumping Around” as she joked, “Update: me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it.”

  • Noel Gallagher: Music Critics Looked Like Fools for Initially Bashing Oasis Classic 'Morning Glory'

    WENN

The Oasis musician suggests music journalists looked like fools for criticizing their 1995 album which later went on to become one of the greatest albums of all time.
    Oct 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Noel Gallagher is convinced Oasis’ third album, “Be Here Now”, landed rave reviews from the British media because music journalists didn’t want to look like fools again after slamming the classic “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”.
The 1995 release was hammered by the press but went on to become one of the greatest albums of all time and Gallagher now believes “Be Here Now” benefited from so-called music writers looking like idiots.
“It didn’t get one good review, I don’t think… I was expecting it to be not well received…,” Noel says of “Morning Glory” in the album’s new 25th anniversary documentary, “Return to Rockfield”. “They were actually on the verge of sounding the death knell for the band.”

      See also…

“It goes to prove that really journalists, they know f**k all. They had to second guess everything after Morning Glory, because they got it so wrong. That’s why when Be Here Now came out, which isn’t a great album, it got 10 out of 10 everywhere… because they didn’t want to be made to look like d**ks again, and they were, because it’s not half the album Morning Glory is. After that, they properly hated us, because they didn’t understand us.”
“In the end the people decide… The people decide what is hot and the people decide what is not and that’s it – the end!”
In the documentary, Noel reunited with the guitar he used to record Oasis classic “Wonderwall”. He apparently gave it away to sound engineer Nick Brine, “So that’s the one I played Wonderwall on. F**king hell, you jammy b**tard. That’s gonna be worth tens of pounds one day. Giving guitars away, I must’ve been high.”
