  • Cardi B Blows People's Mind With Selena Gomez's 'Rare' Cover: Why Is She Moaning?

    WENN

Gushing over the Rare Beauty package she receives from her ‘Taki Taki’ collaborator, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker then starts singing the chorus part of Selena’s song.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ever since Cardi B and Selena Gomez collaborated on “Taki Taki”, the ladies often show love and support for each other. For instance, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker recently promoted the Disney alum’s beauty products through Instagram Stories, though it was her short cover of Selena’s “Rare” that caught people’s attention the most.
In several clips posted on the photo-sharing site over the weekend, Cardi showed off the package she received from Selena’s brand Rare Beauty. “I think they made this specifically for me ’cause all the foundations are like my color–the color that I practically use,” she said, before gushing over the liquid luminizer. “It’s really, really pretty.”
Later on, considering that Selena’s brand is named after her song of the same name, Cardi started singing “Rare” while trying to copy the “Same Old Love” hitmaker’s singing style. “Why don’t you recognize I’m so rare?” so she rhymed.

Many found her cover funny since she sounded like she was moaning rather than singing. An individual said, “The way she sings like she’s f***ing,” while another person wrote, “I love the support n all but… THE SINGING KILLED ME.” Someone else commented, “The way she sang Rare… She sounds like she’s moaning cuz she’s touching herself or something OMG.”
One more person seemed to regret having the voice on while watching the video, “I PLAYED OUTLOUD AND IT SOUNDED LIKE PORN OMGGGGGG.” Meanwhile, one other said, “Cardi doing Selena’s moaning in Rare while revealing the RB package she got. seriously YELLED sksksksks.” There was also someone who commented, “Not Cardi B moaning the chorus of ‘Rare’ by Selena Gomez…”
Some others, in the meantime, wished that Cardi and Selena collaborate again. The two have yet to release another joint song ever since “Taki Taki”, which debuted atop Billboard’s Hot Latin Song and at No. 27 on Hot 100 last year.

  • Alicia Keys Recalls Coming Close to Giving Christina Aguilera 'If I Ain't Got You'

    WENN

The ‘Girl on Fire’ singer opens up in a new interview about the story behind her 2004 track that stayed on Billboard Hot R’n’B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for over a year.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys came close to giving Christina Aguilera her hit song “If I Ain’t Got You”.
The 2004 track helped catapult the Grammy winner to fame and it became the first song to stay on America’s Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs music chart for over a year, but Alicia’s hit almost belonged to someone else.
“There’s a really funny, amazing story around this song,” Alicia revealed during an interview with Stereogum. “I think we were on the same label at the time. She (Christina) reached out and was like, ‘Would you write something for me?’ And then it came through so many emails.”
“What a voice! I know I could write something fire for her. So time passed and I hadn’t written the song yet. And (the label) was like, ‘Do you have anything for Christina?’ I remember I had just recently written ‘If I Ain’t Got You’.”

Alicia eventually went on to pen Impossible for Christina’s 2002 album “Stripped”, but that song was born out of the conflict over “If I Ain’t Got You”.
“I told my A&R (manager) at the time, ‘Let’s play her If I Ain’t Got You’. He said, ‘Are you f**king crazy? We’re not giving her that song. Are you out your mind?’,” she recalled with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Why not? I’ll write a hundred more of those, it’s fine. I think she should hear it. I don’t really think it’s a big deal’. But I thought, ‘Fine, I’ll go write another song’. So I went off and wrote ‘Impossible’.”
Alicia cherishes the moments she shared at the recording studio with Christina while they laid down the vocals for “Impossible”, adding, “I went to cut it with her and I love how she sounded on it. It was such a cool vibe for us to be able to work together during those times… Iit’s really important to be in the same space to just get all the energy. That was great. She sounded so good and she’s very special too.”
“But I will never forget that I would have given away ‘If I Ain’t Got You’. Isn’t that crazy?”

  • Artist of the Week: Maluma

    Instagram

The 26-year-old Colombian star hits the summit on multiple Billboard Latin charts with new single ‘Hawaii’ taken from his fifth studio installment ‘Papi Juancho’.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Maluma challenged himself during the making of his new music and it paid off. Most of the tracks in his fifth studio album “Papi Juancho” were recorded during the coronavirus lockdown. “This album has so much of my true essence; because I did so much of it alone,” he revealed to Billboard in an interview.
Among the three singles released from the new album, “Hawaii” is the one climbing the highest on the charts. While the 26-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter is inconsolable as he channels his inner broken heart in the single, he is actually far from distraught in real life as the track is soaring high.
Produced by Medellin duo The Rude Boyz, the song jumped from the second place to occupy the top spot on Billboard Hot Latin Songs and hit the pinnacle on Latin Digital Song Sales, rising from the third position. It also reached the fourth place on Billboard Global 200 as well as US Latin Airplay.

“Hawaii” was the first single he picked for his new album. “I fell in love with the intro chorus,” he explained. “It was one of the few songs I recorded before Covid. And it’s a very real song, very from the heart, with good lyrics, and good content. Truth is, I get bored of the same old reggaeton. It’s good to add lyrical content to the songs.”
The song, contrary to rumors, was not inspired by any of the singer’s past relationships, but he understood many people suffered from heartbreak and needed to vent their feelings. “I wanted to make this song because I know that many of us feel identified. But that wasn’t because it happened to me,” he said.
The song started gathering new steam following his solid performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. Maluma took the stage overlooking the East River in a drive-in set. Immediately after his performance, he was announced as a winner for Best Latin Video, thanks to his 2019 “Que Pena” music video featuring J Balvin.

Hours after dropping the track, the 26-year-old musician was out and about in Los Angeles when he stumbled upon the group and watched from a distance, leaning on a lamppost as they performed.
According to multiple reports, the encounter was unplanned and the performers didn’t recognise the star until he waved at them once they’d finished up the filming. Despite being unaware of the singer, editors at MailOnline claimed the meeting appeared to be filmed for a project Justin is working on.
After the performance, the Canadian-born singer greeted the large group and posed for pictures. Despite local regulations limiting the gathering of large groups over 10 people, more than a dozen fans were present and posed in a tight group with the singer without face coverings.

  • Spice Girls Plan New Music Video for 'Wannabe' to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

    WENN

Rumor has it, the British girl group who have reunited for tour last year are thinking of filming a new music video for their first single to mark their 25th anniversary.
    Sep 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Spice Girls are reportedly planning to reshoot the video for their debut single “Wannabe” to mark their 25th anniversary.
The group were said to be planning to hit the road for a celebratory tour to celebrate the occasion, but the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to that idea. So instead, a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper that Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Mel C are thinking about filming a new video for Wannabe, which topped the charts upon its release back in 1996.
“The Spice Girls were hoping to hit the road in 2021 to mark their big anniversary but now it’s not possible because of the pandemic,” the insider said. “They’re all in touch weekly and are trying to come up with new ideas on how they can do something special to mark the big day. Mel C suggested doing something around Wannabe – including the idea of possibly re-working the video for social media.”

“There are so many options and nothing is off-limits. They want to give the fans something special.”
However, Victoria Beckham – who opted out of the girl’s U.K. and Ireland tour last year (19) – is said to be “exceedingly unlikely” to be involved.
Taken from the group’s first studio album “Spice”, “Wannabe” became the best-selling single by a girl group in the world. While details of the new music video are still scarce, the original one actually almost didn’t see the light of day due to Mel B’s erect nipples. Despite the controversy, it went on to winning Best Dance Video at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards and being considered one of the iconic pop music videos.
