The Who Reunite With Heinz to Mark Release of 'The Who Sell Out' Expanded Edition

    WENN/Mario Mitsis

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are set to launch limited-edition Beanz Meanz The Who cans to raise funds for Teen Cancer America, Magic Breakfast and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

    Apr 13, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
The Who have reunited with Heinz five decades after their iconic “The Who Sell Out” album artwork, which featured frontman Roger Daltrey sitting in a bath full of Heinz Beanz.

Daltrey, 77, and guitarist Pete Townshend, 75 – the surviving members of the legendary rock band – are set to launch limited-edition Beanz Meanz The Who cans to mark the release of the new expanded edition of the 1967 LP and raise funds for Teen Cancer America in the U.S., and child hunger charity Magic Breakfast and the Teenage Cancer Trust in the U.K.

The classic record also contained the track, “Heinz Baked Beans”.

What’s more, a signed giant replica of the limited-edition can is set to go under the hammer via givergy.uk/HeinzTheWho this Thursday, April 15 to Sunday, April 25.

Daltrey has recalled how he was in bed with flu-like symptoms for a week after shooting the cover.

He remembered, “[Afterwards] I ended up with a week in bed with either the flu or probably the worst cold that I’ve had in my lifetime and I put it down to the baked beans because they’d just come out of the fridge; they were freezing cold!”

“I sat in them for twenty minutes until they had the great idea of putting electric fire round the back of the bathtub I was sitting in, which worked for a while. It started to heat them up, but then they started to cook. So my ar** was roasting while my front was freezing and within 24 hours, I was in bed with the sniffles. I don’t blame the beans; I blame the electric fire!”

However, it didn’t put the “My Generation” rocker, who admits he can’t cook, off the tinned food, as he hailed beans a “magical breakfast.”

Jane Ashton, head of entertainment at the Teenage Cancer Trust, added, “We’re thrilled that The Who and Heinz have teamed up to fundraise for teenagers and young people with cancer.”

“The money raised for Teenage Cancer Trust will fund our specialist nurses and support teams who work tirelessly to get young people with cancer through the hardest times of their lives.”

Beans lovers can head to heinztohome.co.uk/collections/beanz-meanz-the-who to get their hands on a limited-edition can now.

Stylist Claims Justin Timberlake Staged Janet Jackson 'Nipplegate' to Outdo Her Ex Britney Spears

    Instagram

Wayne Scot Lukas, who was in charge of the ‘Together Again’ singer’s look for 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show, reveals the ‘SexyBack’ crooner insisted on doing ‘a reveal’ to upstage Britney, Madonna and Christina Aguilera’s kiss at MTV VMAs.

    Apr 12, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Justin Timberlake might not be as innocent as he’s claimed to be in the infamous Nipplegate at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Having dubbed the incident that exposed Janet Jackson’s naked breast onstage as “wardrobe malfunction” for years, he’s now unveiled to have planned it beforehand.

Stylist Wayne Scot Lukas, who prepped Janet’s look for the halftime show performance with Justin, tells Page Six that the former NSYNC member pushed for the “wardrobe malfunction” in an attempt to outdo his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears. Months earlier before the Super Bowl show, the “Toxic” songstress, Madonna and Christina Aguilera became the talk of the town with their scandalous kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Wanting to upstage his former girlfriend, Justin allegedly “insisted on doing something bigger than their performance. He wanted a reveal.” As to how he arranged for it, Wayne suggests that the “Cry Me a River” hitmaker had something to do with the last minute change of Janet’s outfit.

      See also…

The superstylist says the “That’s the Way Love Goes” songstress was initially going to wear a pearl G-string inspired by one that Kim Cattrall had worn in an episode of “Sex and the City”. He explains, “Janet was going to be in a Rocha dress, and [Justin] was going to step on the back of her dress to reveal her butt in this pearl G-string,” but “the outfit changed a couple of days before, and you saw the magic.”

For that reason, Wayne argues, “I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history.” He goes on defending his job to prepare Janet’s look on that now-infamous night, “As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do.”

Justin recently extended his apology to Janet as well as to his ex Britney, after he was criticized online for the way he treated the women in his life following the release of the explosive “Framing Britney Spears” documentary. “I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed,” he said in a statement issued in February.

He added, “I also feel compelled to respond, in part, because everyone involved deserves better and most importantly, because this is a larger conversation that I wholeheartedly want to be part of and grow from.”

Demi Lovato Determined to Stand Tall Despite Criticisms Over Album or Docuseries

    NBC

The ‘What Other People Say’ singer insists she will not be shaken by any unfavorable responses to her new studio album or docu-series ‘Dancing With the Devil’.

    Apr 12, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Demi Lovato suffered an anxiety attack the first time she saw her completed docuseries “Dancing With the Devil”.

The pop star gets candid about her struggles with substance abuse, self-harm, and eating disorders in the YouTube show, laying bare her feelings about her near-fatal overdose in the summer of 2018, and her long road to recovery.

However, Demi admits she had to overcome a series of personal challenges before she felt “completely secure” sitting in front of the camera to discuss her troubles so openly, and the first playback of the docuseries was hard for the singer to digest.

“I had a physical reaction the first time that I watched it, like (an) anxiety attack,” she told U.S. talk show host Jimmy Fallon.

Despite the adverse reaction, Demi insists sharing her story in her own words has been good for her soul.

“It’s been really cathartic, really really therapeutic,” she said, explaining it was important for her to own her truth and her story – so much so, Demi now feels mentally stronger than ever.

She added, “No matter what people say when they watch it, and whatever people think when they listen to my album (Dancing With the Devil…The Art of Starting Over), I am so excited about these two projects and I’m standing in such truth that nothing anyone can say will shake me.”

Kid Cudi Wears Dress as He Pays Tribute to Kurt Cobain on 'SNL'

    NBC

During his performance on ‘Saturday Night Live’, the ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ hitmaker dons a floral dress inspired by a shirt once worn by the late Nirvana rocker.

    Apr 12, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rapper/actor Kid Cudi appeared to pay tribute to tragic rocker Kurt Cobain this weekend (10Apr21) as he performed on U.S. comedy show “Saturday Night Live” in a pair of bold stage outfits.

The “Pursuit of Happiness” hitmaker chose to wear a green cardigan and ripped jeans for his first song, “Tequila Shots”, in what many viewers interpreted as a nod to Cobain’s wardrobe choice for Nirvana’s “MTV Unplugged” performance back in 1993.

Cudi also donned a T-shirt bearing the face of funnyman Chris Farley, a former “SNL” castmember who died from a drug overdose, aged 33, in 1997.

The hip-hop star then changed up his look for his second set, opting for a floral maxi sundress as he played his song “Sad People” – a costume believed to be inspired by a button down gown worn by Cobain for the cover of British magazine The Face, a year before he committed suicide on 5 April, 1994.

Meanwhile, actress Carey Mulligan made her debut as SNL host and used her opening monologue to express her excitement at being able to get out of the house following a year of isolation due to the COVID crisis, during which she channelled her “dramatic energy” into her two kids’ bedtime stories.

      See also…

“They became a lot longer, lots of recently divorced dragons and unicorns with secret pill habits,” she quipped. “My kids would be like, ‘Mum, please. It’s two in the morning. Let us sleep.’ So, I’m very excited to be here tonight and let some of that energy out.”

The Brit was also thrilled to be appearing on “SNL” for the first time as her husband, rocker Marcus Mumford, and his Mumford & Sons bandmates had previously served as the musical guest on three separate occasions.

The singer then crashed his wife’s monologue, leaving Mulligan a little confused about who was looking after their children with both parents away from home.

“What a surprise, lovely to see you,” the “Promising Young Woman” star said as she pretended to be surprised by his presence. “Um, where are the kids?”

“I left them with the Sons,” Mumford responded, keeping a straight face. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”

He then offered up his musical talents to show officials, seemingly eager to get back to performing live.

“I meant to ask, did they book a musical guest for tonight? If they end up needing anyone, I’m very happy to do it,” he shared as he pulled out his guitar and played part of his song “Little Lion Man”.

Of course, that role had already been taken by Cudi.

Queen Explain Why They Haven't Released New Music With Adam Lambert Despite Touring Together

    WENN

According to Brian May, he and bandmate Roger Taylor have entered recording studio with the ‘American Idol’ alum but the results haven’t ‘hit the button in the right way.’

    Apr 11, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Queen have been “trying things out” in the studio with Adam Lambert but the sessions haven’t resulted in any new recordings just yet.

The remaining members of the group, Brian May and Roger Taylor, have been performing live with the former “American Idol” star for a decade, but have never recorded new material with him and it seems fans will have to wait even longer for new songs because the 73-year-old guitarist admitted their recording sessions didn’t turn out the way they had hoped.

Asked about the possibility of a new record, Brian told Guitar Player magazine, “I always say, ‘I don’t know.’ It would have to be a very spontaneous moment.”

“Actually, Adam, Roger and myself have been in the studio trying things out, just because things came up.”

“But up to this point we haven’t felt that anything we’ve done has hit the button in the right way.”

      See also…

“So it’s not like we’re closed to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet.”

The “Bohemian Rhapsody” rocker admitted the coronavirus pandemic has made it even more difficult to think about a new record.

He added, “And to be honest, life has now taken a turn in which it’s very difficult to explore an avenue like that.”

Last year, Queen and Adam Lambert were forced to call off their tour plan.

To tide fans over, they a live album with the “Idol” alum in October. Titled “Queen + Adam Live Around the World”, it featured over 20 personally selected songs performed live by the band members from over 200 shows throughout their history.

Nile Rodgers Calls Out Music Streaming Services: The System Is Unfair to Artists

    WENN

The Chic musician criticizes the payment system of the music streaming services, urging ‘transparency and artists should be paid on a licence, not a sale.’

    Apr 11, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Nile Rodgers has criticised streaming services for being unfair to artists, by not renumerating them “properly or equally.”

Although the 68-year-old Chic musician is a fan of how easy it is to share music with fans via streaming, he thinks the system is outdated and artists need to be “remunerated properly” by their record labels.

      See also…

The “Get Lucky” hitmaker told The Guardian newspaper, “It is not the streaming services that we have the problem with – it is fantastic that they can distribute our product in such an effective, wonderful way and keep a great digital trail. It is the labels that are perpetrating the issues that need to be seriously addressed. The fact is the system is unfair.”

“Artists and writers are not remunerated properly or equally. They do not get their fair share of the pie. To fix this we need to have transparency and artists should be paid on a licence, not a sale. Alongside this, songwriters should be getting a much bigger share as they are delivering the key ingredient. We don’t even know what a stream is worth and there’s no way you could even find out what a stream is worth, and that’s not the basis for a satisfactory relationship.”

Musician Nadine Shah agrees, saying, “I love streaming. I stream a lot of music myself. The access we have to all kinds of music from all over the world is incredible. But I believe streaming must be fixed. The three major labels are bragging about record profits while thousands of musicians are seeing virtually nothing coming back to them. Streaming is here to stay, as it should. What then can fix it and make it better for artists? A user-centric system whereby the artists you choose to play see direct payment from your subscription fee?”
