  • Megan Thee Stallion Highlights Black Lives Matter in First Live Virtual Concert After Shooting

    Instagram

Delivering renditions of her hit singles after a July clash with Tory Lanez, the ‘WAP’ hitmaker pays tribute to the victims of racial injustice and police brutality.
    Aug 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion used her first virtual concert to make a statement about racial injustice and police brutality as she returned to the stage after surviving a summer shooting.
The hip-hop hitmaker had to undergo surgery on her feet after a July clash with fellow MC Tory Lanez, but she proved she is well on her way to a full recovery on Saturday (August 29) as she performed for fans online in a ticketed show for Live Nation.
Megan was back in high heels and lingerie as she twerked onstage, and delivered renditions of singles like “Savage”, “Hot Girl Summer”, “WAP”, and “Girls in the Hood”.
However, she also took the opportunity to voice her support for the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement, using a black backdrop to project the names of people killed in racially-motivated incidents in the U.S. in recent years, including George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, and Elijah McClain.
“THIS S**T IS EXHAUSTING,” it read, before listing the victims’ names with brief descriptions of each tragedy.

She also paid tribute to Jacob Blake, who has been left paralysed from the waist down after he was shot seven times in the back at close range by an officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin – in front of his partner and their three children – during an attempted arrest on 23 August.
The timely segment concluded with the question, “WHY IS IT SO HARD BEING BLACK IN AMERICA?”.

After the show, Megan took to Instagram to share photos of her stage attire, captioning the post, “1st day back… did you catch thee show (sic)”.

  • MTV VMAs 2020: Miley Cyrus Performs 'Midnight Sky' With Massive Disco Ball

    MTV

The reference to the singer’s 2013 hit song during her performance of ‘Midnight Sky’ is so well-timed as Miley celebrated the seventh anniversary of the song on Instagram last week.
    Aug 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – The 2020 MTV MVAs took place on Sunday, August 30, and Miley Cyrus was among those who offered magnificent performances at the award-giving event. That night, Miley performed her new song “Midnight Sky” live for the first time following its release on August 14.
The performance of her latest anthem of empowerment was rather special. Donning a shimmering black dress, Miley opened her performance of the song, which was released not long after she confirmed her split from Cody Simpson, by looking sexy and fierce at the same time. She belted the note in a room featuring black background.
Later, viewers could see how the singer reminisced her 2013 hit track “Wrecking Ball” as a giant chain displaying a silver cross pendant and a staircase appeared toward the end of her performance. Rather unsurprisingly, she sat on top of it after ripping her skirt, revealing shining black panties.

The “Wrecking Ball” reference was so well-timed as Miley celebrated the seventh anniversary of the song on Instagram last week. “My concept of time is completely askew. Feels like a lifetime ago… but somehow only yesterday. Thank you for all the support you gave me then and of course the love you’re continuing to show my art today. Forever grateful & inspired,” she wrote on the photo-sharing platform.

Meanwhile, Miley’s performance at the 2020 MTV VMAs marked her fifth appearance at the show. VMAs had been holding a special meaning for her as she debuted her song “Slide Away” at last year’s show which also served as her first public appearance at the time after her split from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
At this year’s MTV VMAs, the “Malibu” singer is up for best editing and best art direction for “Mother’s Daughter”, which both she won. She graced the red carpet while looking dazzling as ever in jewelry by Loree Rodkin and an embroidered dress and gloves from Fall Winter 2020 collection of MUGLER.

“@vmas red carpet moment yasssssss @muglerofficial @vijatm,” so she wrote alongside a picture of her red carpet look.

  • Amanda Kloots Hits Studio to Finish Nick Cordero's New Song

    Instagram

The fitness guru hits the recording studio a month after her husband’s death as she’s adding her own verse and voice to complete his unfinished music project.
    Aug 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amanda Kloots is keeping late husband Nick Cordero’s legacy alive by finishing up one of his incomplete projects.
The “Rock of Ages” actor passed away last month (Jul20) after losing his battle with Covid-19 aged just 41 and, after documenting the Broadway star’s battle online, Amanda told fans she’s teamed up with family friend and composer Rickey Minor to finish a track by the late actor/singer.
“Tonight I got to work with musical legend Rickey Minor on a very special song, a Nick Cordero original,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and Minor at a recording studio.
“Nick wrote a song about his losing and missing his father, called Not Far Away. He posted it on Instagram, but only wrote one verse and chorus,” she explained. “Our friend Maddox had the idea for me to write the second verse and then sing a duet with Nick. Rickey and @lennywee helped me, added our voices together, mixed and arranged it, then added beautiful strings and chimes to create this new duet.”
Amanda continued, “This was one special night… I got to sing with Nick! It was hard living up to my husbands vocals but I closed my eyes and pretended we were onstage singing this song together. I cried a lot, but Rickey guided me through it every step of the way.”
The mother of one added that she’s “so grateful” to have the song completed for her and Cordero’s 16-month-old son, Elvis Eduardo, and opened up about how “therapeutic” it has been to work on the Broadway star’s unfinished project.
“It made me feel very close to Nick, like he was with me,” Amanda admitted in a separate post on her Instagram Stories. “I’ve had a really hard last couple of days just with the things that come along with a loved one passing… I’ve been exhausted and emotionally drained, but I’ve had a lot of help, which has been wonderful.”
“Doing this tonight was therapeutic,” she reflected. “It was pretty special and it was really nice.”

    Aug 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Hip-hop veterans Public Enemy have returned “home” to Def Jam Recordings, the fabled label with which they first found fame.
The rap stars, fronted by Chuck D and Flavor Flav, have signed a new contract with company bosses to release the album “What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down”, more than two decades after parting ways with the label.
To mark the occasion, the group has dropped the lead single “Fight the Power (Remix 2020)”, a revamp of the 1989 Public Enemy classic, which was performed at the opening of the BET Awards in June, with Nas, Black Thought, Questlove, and YG among others.
In a statement, Chuck D said, “Cultural Institutions are important. Being an integral part of one is an honour bestowed and to uphold. Public Enemy songs are forever sonic prints in the sands of time. And it’s time – it’s necessary – to bring the noise again from a place called home. Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020.”
“Def Jam is like the house we grew up in. It’s cool to be home,” added Flavor Flav.
“What You Gonna Do When the Grid Goes Down”, the follow-up to 2017’s “Nothing Is Quick in the Desert”, will hit music retailers on 25 September.
