  • Cardi B Admits She Bans Daughter From Listening to 'WAP'

    Instagram

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ star continues to defend her provocative song, insisting it’s an adult song not meant for young children like her two-year-old daughter Kulture.
    Aug 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cardi B has hit back at haters blasting her explicit new single “WAP”, insisting the tune is meant for “adults.”
The song – a collaboration between Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion – features lyrics such as, “Make it cream, make me scream / Out in public, make a scene / I don’t cook, I don’t clean / But let me tell you how I got this ring.”
Despite topping the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., the track has attracted criticism from many for the sexually explicit subject matter, with “WAP” standing for “wet a*s p**sy.” But in an interview on Australia’s “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” on Monday (24Aug20), Cardi said it shouldn’t be listened to by children anyway.
“It’s like, no of course I don’t want my child (two-year-old daughter Kulture) to listen to this song and everything, but it’s like, it’s for adults,” she insisted.
Cardi also said that while some people might be shocked by the lyrics, they are actually “normal” to her.
“The people that the song bothers are usually like conservatives or really religious, fake religious people,” she sighed.
“I grew up listening to this type of music, so to other people it might be strange and vulgar, but to me it’s almost like really normal.”

  • Public Enemy to Mark 30th Anniversary of 'Fear of a Black Planet' With Special Art Show

To open at the Black Book Gallery in Denver, Colorado on September 5, ‘The Terrordome’ will feature one-of-a-kind pieces by street artists Shepard Fairey, Vhils, Anthony Lister and Faith47 among others.
    Aug 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rap veterans Public Enemy will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album “Fear of a Black Planet” with a special art show.
“The Terrordome” will open at the Black Book Gallery in Denver, Colorado on September 5 and feature original, one-of-a-kind pieces by the likes of street artists Shepard Fairey, Vhils, Anthony Lister, How & Nosm, and Faith47, as well as Public Enemy frontman Chuck D himself.
“Bringing visual artists and music together has always been important to me because it’s who I am,” Chuck D shares in a statement.
“I was an illustrator and graphic designer long before I ever grabbed a microphone. We’ve been working hard at bringing together an amazing array of artists for the show, and look forward to people coming through to see their work.”
Gallery officials will be following the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, including limiting the capacity of the venue, so fans can check out the show safely.
“The Terrordome” will run until October 3.

The critically-acclaimed 1990 album, which covered still-timely topics such as institutional racism and white supremacy, spawned the protest anthem “Fight the Power”, written for Spike Lee’s movie classic “Do the Right Thing”, as well as the singles “911 Is a Joke”, “Welcome to the Terrordome”, and “Can’t Do Nuttin’ for Ya Man”.
Its cultural significance was formally recognised in 2005, when officials at America’s Library of Congress added it to the National Recording Registry.

  • Big Sean Reveals He and Jhene Aiko Had Miscarriage on 'Deep Reverence'

    WENN

Without mentioning the songstress’ name, the ‘Play No Games’ rapper rhymes at one point during the song, ‘Probably why the s**t with me get crazy and we lost a baby.’
    Aug 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Big Sean has opened up about his private life via his new song “Deep Reverence”. Released on Monday, August 24, the Nipsey Hussle-featured single finds the hip-hop star revealing that he and Jhene Aiko were expecting a child together, though unfortunately, the singer suffered a miscarriage later on.
He raps at one point during the song, “Probably why the s**t with me get crazy and we lost a baby.” Even though Sean doesn’t name names in the bar, it’s pretty clear that he is referring to Jhene and other social media users apparently think the same. “Nooo Jhene and Big Sean were expecting but she lost the baby omg :(” one person said after listening to the song.
“All of y’all was dogging jhene out calling her toxic and evil then saying she was ruining her relationship with big sean only for him to reveal in his new song that they lost a baby,” another said. “Oh my god Jhene Aiko and Big Sean lost a baby…my heart hurts for them,” one other commented.
Besides his relationship with Jhene, Sean also opens up about his reaction after hearing news of Nipsey’s passing. Name-dropping Kendrick Lamar, he spits his bars, “After what happened to Nipsey I reached out to Kendrick/ There wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with/ Lack of communication and wrong information from people fueled by the ego it’s like mixing flames with diesel.”

“Deep Reverence” will be included on Sean’s upcoming album “Detroit 2”, which is a sequel to his 2012 effort. Hours prior to the release of the song, the “I Don’t F**k With You” rapper announced that “Detroit 2” would hit the stores on September 4. He additionally unveiled a line of “Detroit 2”-themed merchandise on his online store, including a branded face mask.

  • BTS Get Candid About Why They Chose 'Dynamite' as Their First Full English Song

    Facebook

A music video for the seven-piece South Korean boy band’s latest single has broken YouTube record by becoming the first promo viewed over 100 million times in 24 hours upon its launch.
    Aug 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – K-pop superstars BTS (Bangtan Boys) decided to tackle their first full English-language single with “Dynamite” because they didn’t want to change a thing from the song’s demo.
The seven-piece South Korean boy band has been shattering streaming records ever since dropping the disco-inspired track, and its accompanying music video, on Friday (August 21), and the artists admit they were such big fans of the original tune, penned by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, they decided to keep all the lyrics in English.
“When we first listened to the demo, we just loved it as it is,” rapper RM explained on U.S. breakfast show “Today”. “So, we thought, ‘Why not just keep it this way?’ So we just kept the demo, recorded it and this (singing in English) became a whole new challenge for us, too.”
Added singer V, “I hope fans will draw a lot of energy from this new song.”

Devotees have been rushing to check out “Dynamite” on YouTube – it became the first promo viewed over 100 million times in 24 hours upon its launch, while it also boasts the record for the biggest music video premiere on the platform, with over three million peak concurrent views.

  • Taylor Swift Praised by Record Store Owner for Fans' Kindness in Returning Box of Signed Albums

    WENN

The ‘Cardigan’ singer has given independent retailers a big boost by sending autographed copies of her latest hit release, but one was dropped off before a Wisconsin store opened.
    Aug 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – An independent record store owner in Wisconsin is thanking his lucky stars after a box of signed Taylor Swift albums was handed over by a loyal fan following a delivery issue.
The pop superstar recently decided to give independent retailers a big boost by sending autographed copies of her latest hit release, “Folklore”, to select stores around the U.S.
Tom Smith, manager of Green Bay’s Exclusive Co., discovered he would be receiving the special CD shipment on Saturday, August 22, but the box was dropped off before the store opened, and the courier driver simply had a fan camped outside the shop sign for the goods.
Recalling the incident to U.S. breakfast show “Today”, Smith said, “I walk up, and one of the people standing outside the store handed me the box and said UPS had her sign for it.”
Inside were 30 copies of the signed CDs, which could have easily been sold for big bucks online, and Smith expressed his gratitude to the lady, who was there to purchase one of the $11.99 (£9) albums, once the shop opened for business.
“I said, ‘Thank you for not walking off with this,'” Smith shared. “She goes, ‘Taylor would have not wanted me to walk off with this.’ ”
“It’s really endearing,” he added. “Taylor Swift does so much good with her celebrity, and you can see how it also trickles down to her fans… It’s encouraging.”
And Smith is also grateful to Swift for thinking of struggling independent music retailers, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Before the Internet, the record stores were the ones doing all the heavy lifting and helping make and break artists,” he said. “It’s not like Taylor is up and coming and has to jump through hoops to get her name out there. She has made it, so to see her showing this love to indie stores is really great and appreciated.”
