  • Trina Defends Cardi B's 'WAP' Amid Criticism of Sexual Lyrics

    Instagram

The ‘Love and Hip Hop: Miami’ cast member, who also has a fair share of rap songs with sexual lyrics, says in a new interview that ‘some people can’t really handle’ raunchy songs.
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Trina has weighed in on the criticism that Cardi B and her collaborator Megan Thee Stallion faced regarding the raunchy lyrics on their new track “WAP”. In a new interview, the Miami rapper shares that she and her friends laugh as haters are being mad for no reason.
“I just feel like it’s a freedom of expression,” she explains to Complex. “I feel like I’m the main person to be like, ‘Yes,’ because I’m a sensual person. I came out in my career talking about being sensual and being expressive.”
The “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” cast member, who also has her fair share of rap songs with sexual lyrics, shares that “some people can’t really handle it, and that’s fine,” adding that “it’s not for everybody.” She sarcastically goes on saying, “If you’re one of those that can’t handle it, stay up under the rock. You do that. This is not the world for you. This is the world of extraordinary, and it’s women being free of fear and saying what they feel like saying.”
She later sends love to her fellow emcees. “Shout out to all the new female artists,” she exclaims. “I love to see it. There’s more women that we can celebrate that are beautiful. Hate it or love it, we’re here to stay.”
Prior to this, Cardi used Trina to defend “WAP”, which means “Wet A** P***y”, pointing out that she isn’t the only femcee with raunchy songs. “People think that WAP is so nasty and freaky except people from Florida …..Trina,Khia,Jackie O used to go in in,” Cardi wrote on Tuesday, August 11 on Twitter. The name-drop of Trina was enough to make the VH1 personality to trend on the app.
“Trina said ‘I’ll f**k him in the living room while his children home I make him eat it while my period on’ Wap is mid compared to that,” wrote one user, also defending “WAP”. Another fan added, “We literally grew up with Oochie Wally, My Neck my back, Trina, Whisper Song, Tip Drill, P***y Popping, Disco Inferno, the entire 2LiveCrew catalog but Wap is where the line is finally drawn.”
Someone else chimed in, “If y’all think WAP is the nastiest thing you heard, then stay away from Trina. ‘Look Back At Me’ makes WAP look innocent.”

  • Katy Perry Turns Into Video Game Character in 'Smile' Music Video

    [embedded content]

Directed by Matthew Cullen, the video finds the pregnant songstress getting hooked to a game called Smile in which she plays a video game version of herself.
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Less than a month before the release of her new LP, Katy Perry has treated fans to the visuals of the title track of her effort. The music video was released exclusively on Facebook on Thursday, August 13, before making its way out on other platforms like YouTube the following morning.
Directed by Matthew Cullen, the video finds Katy getting hooked to a video game called Smile in which she plays a video game version of herself who conquers various kinds of obstacles such as giant spiders and circus-trapeze acts while dressed as a clown. As the songstress progresses through the game, she magically transforms into a real-life version of her video game character.
“Yeah, I’m thankful/ Scratch that, baby, I’m grateful/ Gotta say it’s really been a while/ But now I got back that smile/ Smile,” so Katy sings in the music video, which ends with the singer happily smashing the pie in her face after she defeats the final boss of the game.
“Smile” serves as the title track of Katy’s upcoming LP. She previously said of the song, “I wrote the title track from the album when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life and had lost my smile. This whole album is my journey towards the light — with stories of resilience, hope, and love.”
“Smile” is expected to hit the stores on August 28 after a postponement. Speaking of the effort in an interview, Katy explained that the track “What Makes a Woman” has an empowering message that she hopes her daughter will take it to heart. “It’s a song about how you are gonna have a tough time measuring what truly makes a woman because women are so many things,” she said. “And I like to say not one thing, not just one thing. And such chameleons, and so adaptable, and so malleable and transformative. And can handle the weight of the world on their backs and do it all in heels. And make it look pretty effortless sometimes.”

  • Doja Cat Fans Come to Her Defense After Nas Disses Her on His New Song

    Instagram

On his new song entitled ‘Ultra Black’, the 46-year-old rapper spits his bars, ‘We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically Black, The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson Black.’
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nas has become the latest person to slam Doja Cat over her past. On Friday, August 14, the male rapper released a new song entitled “Ultra Black”, in which he took a jab at the “Say So” hitmaker for allegedly being involved in an online racist chatroom.
He could be heard rapping on the song, which was dubbed an anthemic song that embraced black pride, “We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically Black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson Black.” Soon after the song was released online, Doja’s name started trending on social media with a lot of people coming to her defense.
For instance, one person said, “nas really speaking on doja cat being ‘anti black’ like he wasn’t beating on Kelis (a whole black woman) for years…,” referring to Kelis who accused her ex-husband of domestic violence when they were married. “Weird how terry crews & Kanye west were RIGHT THERE saying the most c**n s**t on twitter but Nas decided to name drop 23 year old Doja Cat who makes POP MUSIC lmaaooooo! These ‘grown men’ are B***HES,” another person wrote.
“Straight n***as really think they gonna get Doja Cat out of here like they were even her target audience in the first place. She will be just fine. Now back to streaming Hot Pink,” one other commented, as someone gave her/his two cents, “I hate how ppl are bullying doja cat, like get over it She apologies twice *cough cough* (Nas).”
Meanwhile, Doja has yet to respond to the diss.
Earlier this year, Doja received heavy backlash after old videos of her interacting with a group of white supremacists in a chatroom made its way out online. Furthermore, people later found out she had a song called “Dindu Nuffin” before. The title itself was already offensive given that it’s a slur that’s used to denounce black victims of police brutality and violence. Following the controversy, Doja has apologized several times over what happened.

  • Cardi B Spent $100,000 on Coronavirus Tests to Be Able to Shoot 'WAP' Music Video

    Instagram

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker’s latest collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion is well on its way to becoming another huge hit for the pair, though fans and critics alike deem it ‘filthy’ and ‘nasty.’
    Aug 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cardi B coughed up over $100,000 (£76,500) on coronavirus tests before shooting her controversial new “WAP” video with Megan Thee Stallion.
The rapper admits shooting the racy promo, which features cameos from Kylie Jenner, Normani Kordei and a host of snakes and big cats, was a costly affair, because everyone on set had to abide by strict health and safety guidelines.
And that meant Cardi had to pay for a series of measures before the cameras could roll.
“We had to spend $100,000 just on testing,” she explains. “Everybody on the shoot had to get tested for coronavirus.”
But at least she didn’t have to pay for the transportation and welfare of the big cats that appear in the promo, “We had a tiger and a leopard there, but we didn’t film with them in there because of safety and because of the pandemic. We spliced those scenes together.”
But she did agree to writhe around with snakes in one daring scene, adding, “I was naked and one of them peed all over me.”
“WAP” is now well on its way to becoming another huge hit for the rap pair, and the track’s success is being aided by all the controversy surrounding the provocative and explicit lyrics that focus on female sexual empowerment, with critics and fans alike calling the tune “filthy” and “nasty.”

  • Drake Appears to Diss Kanye West on New Song, Hires Kim Kardashian Look-Alike for the MV

    [embedded content]

One of the lines that makes people convinced the Canadian star is shading his nemesis finds him rapping, ‘This in between us is not like a store, this isn’t an closeable gap, ayy.’
    Aug 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Drake has officially started his new era. The Canadian hip-hop star has just released his new song entitled “Laugh Now, Cry Later” along with its music video, and people quickly assumed that he dissed his nemesis Kanye West on the newly-released tune that featured Lil Durk.
One of the lines that made people convinced that Drake threw shots at Kanye found the former rapping, “This in between us is not like a store, this isn’t an closeable gap, ayy.” For your information, Kanye signed a deal in June 2020 to bring his clothing line Yeezy to Gap, a clothing store brand.
Some other lines that had people thinking Drake shaded Kanye featured the “Hotline Bling” rapper spitting bars, “Baby, we took a trip, now we on your block and it’s like a ghost town/ Baby, where do these n***as be at when they say they doin’ all this and all that?” He continued to rap, “Please don’t play that n***a songs at this party, I can’t even listen to that.”
As people might have already realized, “Ghost Town” is one of Kanye’s songs, so a number of individuals assumed that Drake was referring to that. Someone speculated, “Drake and Kim Kardashian both have houses in the same hills, and there’s always been rumors about both of them hooking up. ‘Ghost Town’ was one of Kanye’s biggest songs of 2018. This might be a reach but who knows. Drake always does this.”
Not stopping there, some assumed that he made use of the music video to diss Kanye as it was filmed in Nike’s HQ, which is a rival of Kanye’s Yeezy Adidas line. Moreover, an individual pointed out that Drake purposely hired a Kim Kardashian look-alike to star in the music video, which also featured Kevin Durant and Odell Beckham Jr. “Drake drop a Yeezy diss track with a Kim K look alike in the vid,” so the person said.
Putting the diss aside, “Cry Now Laugh Later” serves as the first single off Drake’s upcoming album “Certified Love Boy” which is slated to arrive this summer.
