  • Taylor Swift Scores Longest No. 1 Album in U.K. as 'Folklore' Stays Atop Chart

The ‘Cardigan’ singer stays at the pinnacle of the U.K. albums chart, blocking Irish rockers Fontaines D.C. who have to settle at the second spot with ‘A Hero’s Death’.
    Aug 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift has held on to the top spot in the U.K. albums chart, seeing off a spirited challenge from Irish rockers Fontaines D.C.
Taylor’s surprise new indie-inspired collection, “Folklore”, shot straight to number one last Friday (31Jul20), but for most of this week the band’s sophomore record, “A Hero’s Death”, was ahead in chart sales.
However, by Friday, the “Bad Blood” hitmaker had overhauled her deficit to top the Official Charts Company rundown, with a lead of just 3,500 chart sales.
“Folklore” is now Taylor’s longest-reigning number one album in the U.K. as her previous chart-topping efforts, “Red”, “1989”, “Reputation”, and “Lover”, all stayed at the summit for just one week.
At three is Pop Smoke with his posthumous debut, “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon”, while another deceased rapper, Juice WRLD, is at four with “Legends Never Die”. British horror punks Creeper complete the top five with “Sex, Death & The Infinite Void”.
Joel Corry’s “Head & Heart” featuring MNEK is at number one in the singles chart for a third week, with “Savage Love” by TikTok star Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo at two.
British producer Nathan Dawe edges closer to the summit as “Lighter”, his collaboration with YouTuber-turned-rapper KSI, climbs to three.
Harry Styles’ sleeper summer smash “Watermelon Sugar” is up to four, and AJ Tracey and Mabel’s “West Ten” completes the top five.

  • Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion Slammed as Danger to Young Girls Over Their Collab 'WAP'

California Republican congressional candidate James P. Bradley says the song makes him want to ‘pour holy water in my ears,’ while political correspondent DeAnna Lorraine calls the song ‘vile.’
    Aug 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s fans may be all ears to their recently released collaboration “WAP”, but not everyone shares the same feeling. Despite the so-called female empowerment anthem, the two rappers have been trashed online for their song.
James P. Bradley, a Republican running for a Congressional seat in California, took issue with their provocative lyrics. Claiming that he “accidentally” heard the song, he tweeted, “Their new ‘song’ The #WAP (which i heard accidentally) made me want to pour holy water in my ears.”
The politician expressed his concern about Cardi and Megan’s influence on young girls, writing, “I feel sorry for future girls if this is their role model!” He went on speculating, “Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion are what happens when children are raised without God and without a strong father figure.”
Former Republican Congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine also slammed the song as “disgusting” and “vile,” and disagreed with the notion that the song is a female empowerment anthem. She said the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker and the “Savage” raptress are “completely wrong” if they think the song does “anything to empower women.”
Needless to say, the two political figures have faced backlash from the two raptress’ fans for calling out their favorite stars. One person questioned James’ claim that he unintentionally heard the song, responding to his tweet, ” ‘Accidentally’ [a face with tears of joy emoji] You’re trying to represent my district and this is the first I’ve heard from you? No, thanks.”
“I love how old white people love to complain about rap music but won’t acknowledge that 75% of all the revenue made by rap music comes from their children and grandchildren,” another added. A third user brought up First Lady Melania Trump’s old nude pictures and sarcastically wrote, “You’re totally right, they should do it the way @FLOTUS did it…. A prime example of a lady… Right???”
Someone else took a jab at the right-wing politician over his support for President Donald Trump, “The guy you vote for and support grabs pussies for s**ts and giggles and bangs porn stars when he’s bored. Careful you don’t drown in all that holy water.”
On DeAnna’s tweet, one person wrote back, “I’m interested to know how you have the time to comment on WAP but not the thousands of other amazing contributions made by Black women or Black men. You ‘care’ so much about the community and impressionable minds but what have you done outside of critique to uplift them?!!?!”

  • MTV Video Music Awards Forced to Trade Barclays Center With Outdoor Venues for Safety Reasons

BTS, Doja Cat and J Balvin will be among the live performers at the prizegiving event taking place on August 30, with ‘Rain on Me’ collaborators Ariana Grande and Lady GaGa leading the nominees.
    Aug 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Safety concerns have forced MTV bosses to look for another venue for the Video Music Awards.
The prizegiving was set to take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with Keke Palmer as host, but organisers and venue bosses have mutually agreed the arena won’t be safe enough.
Instead, the show will be staged at various outdoor locations around New York City.
“The 2020 VMAs will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30 and pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances… with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines,” a statement issued to Page Six reads. “In close consultation with state and local health officials, it became clear at this time that outdoor performances with limited or no audience would be more feasible and safer than an indoor event.”
“MTV will continue to work closely with the Department of Health, state and local officials, the medical community, and key stakeholders to ensure the safety of all involved.”
BTS (Bangtan Boys), Doja Cat and J Balvin will be among the live performers, while “Rain on Me” hitmakers Ariana Grande and Lady GaGa lead all nominees with with nine apiece.
The MTV VMAs were last held at the Barclays Center in 2013.

  • Find Out Terry Crews' Reaction to Rick Ross Roasting Him on New Song

    WENN

The ‘America’s Got Talent’ host gives his response after one of his followers on Twitter asks him, ‘You got roasted bruh by Rick Ross in his new single, how do you feel?’
    Aug 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Terry Crews has broken his silence after being roasted by Rick Ross. Rather than lashing back at the hip-hop star over the diss, the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor decided to stay classy when asked to give his response to the shade.
One of his Twitter followers asked him on Friday, August 7, “You got roasted bruh by Rick Ross in his new single, how do you feel?” In response to the said user, the comedian simply wrote in all-caps, “FAMOUS.”
Many people praised him for the way he handled the roast. “love his response, keep it simple and keep it moving,” one said. “Nice clap back lol,” another comment, as someone else wrote, “I love your positive attitude about things Mr.Crews. That, and how you’re sticking firm to what you believe in, even when people oppose you. That’s some good stuff right there.”
“I’ve never seen or heard of Terry personally attacking anyone. It’s impressive. He seems to genuinely care about everyone, even if they treat him poorly,” an individual chimed in, with one other saying, “Love your response !!! And is so true!! Your truly a great person with great integrity and character!!!”
Rick released his song, “Pinned to the Cross”, in the latest episode of Versuz with 2 Chainz, who also previewed his Lil Wayne collaboration “Money Maker”. Rick opened the song by saying, “F**k, Terry Crews,” before doubling down on his diss at the later part of the song. He could be heard rapping, “Terry Crews is another c**n who was basically bought,” before laughing.
His shade was a clear reference to Terry’s headline-making comment last month, when the “America’s Got Talent” host took to Twitter to make an acronym out of the word, “C**n.” He said at the time, “Conquer Our Own Negativity,” prompting online users to lash out at him. However, Terry did not think he did something wrong at all and hit back at his critics.

  • Tyga Asked to Cancel Concert in Belarus Following 'Propaganda Stunt' Criticism

    Instagram

In an open letter, Human Rights Foundation president reminds the ‘Loco Contigo’ rapper that participating in the event may ‘undermine the activism he has encouraged in the United States.’
    Aug 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – A U.S.-based Human Rights Foundation asked rapper Tyga to cancel his upcoming gig at a government-sponsored concert in Belarus. The “Ayy Macarena” rapper is set to perform Saturday, August 8 at Hip Hop Fireworks in the Belarusian capital, Minsk.
That is also the night before the country’s presidential election that might see the end of the 26-year rule of its incumbent authoritarian strongman, Alexander Lukashenko. The foundation thinks that the event is a political one and it may be a part of a “plan to distract protestors from gathering at opposition rallies.”
Writing in a letter sent to Tyga, the foundation says that the concert is “organized and funded by the Belarusian dictatorship, led by Alexander Lukashenko.” HRF president Thor Halvorssen continues stating, “This performance, scheduled for the day before Belarus’ elections, is no coincidence. It is an excuse to cancel the opposition’s final electoral rally, and prevent ordinary Belarusians from showing their support for freedom and democracy.”
He adds, “It is also a deliberate attempt to turn attention away from the massive electoral fraud that is already taking place across the country. Simply put: Your concert will serve as propaganda for Lukashenko’s authoritarian regime the day before the election.”
In the letter, Halvorssen also notes that “Tyga has been an outspoken advocate of the Black Lives Matter movement. He has urged followers to vote in local elections and take to the streets in protest.” He also reminds the hip-hop star that participating in the event may “undermine the activism he has encouraged in the United States, and provide the Belarusian dictator a useful propaganda stunt,” adding, “We hope he will stand on the side of the people of Belarus as opposed to their oppressor. He must decline the invitation to perform for the dictator.”
Tyga, whose real name is Michael Ray Stevenson, has yet to respond to the letter.
