  • Devin Townsend Plans 'Crazy Virtual Stage' for Upcoming Livestream

    Facebook

The ‘Christeen’ star reveals plans for a ‘revolutionary’ livestream concert ‘Empath Volume 2: By Request’ which is expected to be a “full production” of an 85-minute performance.
    Jul 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Musician/producer Devin Townsend has teased plans for a “revolutionary” virtual concert, set to air in September (20).
According to the “Christeen” star, “Empath Volume 2: By Request” will be broadcast on 5 September at 9 P.M. BST, and include the set he was due to perform at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air event.
Townsend will be joined by drummer Samus Paulicelli, guitarist Wes Hauch, and bassist Liam Wilson for the 85 minute performance, which he teased will be “a full production.”
“(We’ll be) filming ourselves separately, playing our instruments live, on green screens, with eight cameras each and then combine these elements on a crazy virtual stage,” he said, announcing the gigs. “It’s ambitious, but I think the closest to a monster concert as can be achieved this summer.”
Townsend continued, “I will be live answering questions and talking to you throughout, to make it a totally interactive experience that acts not only as a cool way to spend a Saturday, but also as a potentially new way to do concerts entirely.”
“The players I’ve hired have worked their butts off learning the material, and it’s going to be one of the coolest things I’ve done in recent memory.”
Tickets for the show are available here.

  • Chris Brown Responds to Online Debate Regarding Who'd Win in 'Verzuz' Battle Against Usher

    WENN

In response to the debate, Breezy takes to Instagram to seemingly insinuate that he believes he will win the possible battle but that doesn’t mean he’s interested to do one.
    Jul 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Brown and Usher found themselves trending on Twitter on Sunday, July 26. Fans took to the blue bird app to voice their opinion on who would win if the two R&B stars were going against each other in a “Verzuz” battle.
Some fans were confident that Breezy would easily edge out Usher with one fan writing, “There is a reason why chris brown was asked to do a tribute for [Michael Jackson] TWICE and not usher.” Another fan tweeted alongside a clip of Chris performing, “since chris brown is living in y’all heads rent free again, let’s bring back this iconic tribute. pay respect when respect is due.”
“Chris Brown said he will never do a vs battle because he’s only in competition with himself. So there goes the answer to that,” one user said, referring to Chris’ Instagram post in which he said, “Only vs ima do is CHRIS BROWN VS CHRIS BREEZY… not in competition with nobody but myself….”

Meanwhile, some others thought Usher would definitely win the battle. “Why do people think Usher would lose in a battle against Chris Brown??? I don’t get it,” said someone. “Usher WASHES Chris Brown in a Versus. S*****t he might beat him with just the Confession album alone,” a confident fan added.
“Waymint… THEE Usher Raymond that told us ‘Confession’ and to ‘Let it burn?’ ‘Seven o’clock in drop top cruising the streets’ Usher? Tell them chirren to go to bed! Ain’t nan way!” another fan chimed in.

In response to the debate, Breezy took to Instagram to seemingly insinuate that he believed he would win the possible battle but that didn’t mean he’s interested to do one. “What we not gone do is CAP,” the “No Guidance” singer wrote on Instagram Stories on Sunday.

In a separate post, he added, “I could do a vs off features alone… So I’ll humbly decline… I’m busy doing nothing.”

The “You Need to Calm Down” singer dropped the record after surprising fans with news of an impending release the day prior, and despite the star deviating with a more alternative sound than her previous pop offerings, the album proved an instant hit with fans.

“Folklore” also owned the top 16 spots on the U.S. Spotify chart, with “The 1” taking first place with 4.175 million streams – the biggest U.S. debut for any song by a female artist in history.
It also claimed eight of the top 10 slots on the global Spotify chart, where lead single “Cardigan” triumphed with 7.742 million streams, taking the title of the biggest single-day play count for any song released this year.

    Jul 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Metallica and My Chemical Romance have agreed to return as headliners for the 2021 Aftershock festival after this summer’s event was cancelled.
The music spectacular was scheduled to take place in October (20) at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California, but it has now officially been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
However, James Hetfield and his bandmates have agreed to headline the Friday and Sunday nights of the festival in 2021 and My Chemical Romance will cap off Saturday.
The 2021 festival will run from 7 to 10 October.
Announcing the cancellation of the 2020 event on Friday (24Jul20), a festival spokesman says, “After all the harm caused by COVID-19, there is nothing that we wanted more than to be celebrating Aftershock with you this October at Discovery Park for what was going to be a monumental weekend. We, the artists, and Sacramento County all thought we had a shot at being the first post-COVID festival to happen. That really would have been incredible.”
“We waited as long as we could but, unfortunately, the recent spike of cases now requires that we reschedule this year’s sold-out Aftershock to 2021.”

  • Taylor Swift Defended by Dylan O'Brien After Smash Mouth Disses Her New Album

    Instagram/WENN/Instagram

The ‘Walkin on the Sun’ group is under fire after it tweeted, ‘borelore,’ which many assume is a play on the title of the pop superstar’s latest album ‘Folklore’.
    Jul 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Swifties have shown many times in the past that no one should come at their favorite star, but not everyone is apparently aware of this. Smash Mouth has experienced firsthand the wrath of Taylor Swift’s fans that the group appeared to mock her new album “Folklore”.
Following the release of the 30-year-old singer/songwriter’s surprise new record, the “All Star” band tweeted, “borelore.” Many were quick to interpret the play on the tittle of Taylor’s new album as a diss, insinuating that it is boring.

Smash Mouth dissed Taylor Swift’s new album.
Actor Dylan O’Brien was surprisingly among one of the fans who have come to the Grammy Award-winning artist’s defense. Taking to his own Twitter account, “The Maze Runner” star threw expletive at the rock band as he wrote, “F**k Smash Mouth.”

Dylan O’Brien clapped back at the band to defend the pop singer.
Another fan of the “Lover” singer hit back by comparing Taylor and Smash Mouth’s music, “You had one hit in a children’s movie about ogres. She has eight albums spanning three genres and worldwide recognition. U are not the same.”
“Not one hit wonders who are living off the split royalities from a song that was featured on a movie soundtrack made for CHILDREN speaking…your rent is past due pls worry about that,” another slammed the band.
“Your account will be gone by morning,” someone else warned the “Walkin on the Sun” hitmakers, while another told them, “How about you go to the studio and make a critically acclaimed album like folklore rats.”
But one person was brave enough to defend Smash Mouth, writing back to the critics, “Apparently this is about Taylor swift from what I’m seeing in the replies? Her songs suck, stop attacking a talented group just because one of their songs became a meme and that somehow invalidates their opinions.”
Taylor released “Folklore” on Friday, July 24 at midnight after announcing it on Thursday morning. Along with it, she dropped the music video for “Cardigan”, the No. 2 track off the set. The album, which marks her first take on alternative genre, has received universal critical acclaim, with praise towards the album’s “subdued” nature, Taylor’s unconventional music direction and the narrative songwriting.
