  • DJ Clue Promises to Play Pop Smoke's Album After Getting Savagely Blasted by 50 Cent

    Instagram

The ‘In Da Club’ rapper says on his Instagram page that the radio personality refuses to play the slain rapper’s posthumous debut album because he didn’t get the record first.
    Jul 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Everyone was hyped over Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut album after it was released on Friday, July 3, but DJ Clue apparently wasn’t one of them. 50 Cent, who executive produced the record, learned about this and wasted no time to criticize the radio personality because he believed Clue didn’t want to play the slain rapper’s album because of a petty reason.
Not holding back at all, the “Power” alum began his post by calling Clue a “fool,” adding that he “got in his feelings, and said he not playing POP Smoke new joint because he didn’t get the record first.” He continued to write, “F**K YOU CLUE, @funkflex been kicking your a** up and down the street for years you little r****d. I done sold 30 million records you think I give a f**k if you play my music, is you dumb n***a?”
Fiddy went on saying that Clue should “get a punch in the face.” He elaborated, “I don’t know why, but I’m almost sure you gone get punched in the face. Nothing crazy just a lower case L You know the vibes n***a.”
Fiddy deleted his post afterward, but it looks like Clue had already read the post and took to his own account to announce that he’d be playing Pop Smoke’s album all day long on his radio. “We Repping For My Guy @Realpopsmoke All Day On @Power1051 . Including 9pm When I’m Playing The Entire Album Tune In Power1051Fm.Com or Download The @IheartRadio App & Stream It Live,” he said. “P.S.: We Didn’t Wake Up This Morning & Plan This.”

Clue didn’t drop any names in his post, but people were already convinced that the disk jockey changed his mind right after being called out by Fiddy.
Executive produced by Fiddy, “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” featured the likes of Tyga, Karol G, Quavo and Roddy Ricch among others.

  • Animal Collective Apologizes for Racist 'Mammy' Album Artwork After So Many Years

    Instagram

The ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ band finally remove their racist ‘People EP’ artwork and change the title of their ‘Here Comes the Indian’ album after so many years.
    Jul 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Animal Collective have issued an apology and agreed to change the artwork of their “People EP” and the title of their “Here Comes the Indian” album.
The New York band caused controversy when they released their EP back in 2006 as the cover features a black nanny with two white children – identified as a “mammy,” a stereotype rooted in slavery.
“There is no way to excuse using a ‘mammy’ on our artwork, and so we have decided to remove it,” they said in a statement. “We understand now that using a racist stereotype at all causes more damage than an explanation can repair, and we apologise. Moving forward, we will be donating a portion of our royalties from this record to the Equal Justice Initiative.”
The experimental rockers also told fans they’d be reinstating “Here Comes the Indian” working title of “Ark”.
“With utmost respect to Indigenous people we feel that having the word Indian in our record title sends the wrong message by objectifying the American Indian people which is not what we were intending with the music,” they said.
“Because we have drawn countless inspiration from Indigenous people in America and around the world, moving forward, we will be donating a portion of our royalties from this record to Seeding Sovereignty, and changing the title to its original working title, Ark.”

  • Pop Smoke's Posthumous Debut Album Gets New Cover Art Following Backlash

‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon’ has been released with a new artwork after the previous cover designed by Virgil Abloh left many fans unimpressed.
    Jul 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop Smoke’s posthumous hotly anticipated debut album has been released with new artwork after the initial LP cover sparked outrage.
The record, titled “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” was released on Friday (03Jul20) but the original Virgil Abloh designed version of the album cover, which featured the rapper surrounded by diamond roses and barbed wire, was slammed.
Fans criticised the cover as a Google Images copy and Steven Victor the boss of Pop’s label Victor Victor Worldwide confirmed it would be changed – and he has now unveiled a replacement version featuring a white rose on a black background.
Unveiling the cover art on Instagram, Steven wrote, “Pop’s music belongs to everyone. This album is a celebration of where Pop was headed and where he wanted to be. The process of working on this album with all our friends, peers and heroes has been amazing and we thank everyone for their support.”
“Pop’s music and legacy belongs to the world now and we want you to continue to manifest your love in creative ways that we haven’t even thought of yet.”
The album features collaborations from 50 Cent, who also produced the record, Tyga, Quavo, DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, and Young Thug.

  • Fans Not Satisfied With Pop Smoke's New Album Cover Art

    Instagram

Despite the cover, ‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim for the Moon’ successfully made fans emotional as one fan admits to ‘crying and vibin at the same time’ while listening to the rapper’s posthumous album.
    Jul 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop Smoke’s posthumous album “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” was finally released on Friday, July 3. While fans raved about the music on the most-awaited album, they cursed the newly design cover art, which previously drew controversy.
The head of Pop’s label Victor Victor Worldwide, Steven Victor, previously promised a change when fans criticized a botched Virgil Abloh design. Now, the final image featured a metallic rose with an all-black backdrop. Meanwhile, the parental advisory sticker was placed neatly at the bottom.
Although Steven heard fans’ outcry to replace Virgil’s initial design, the new one wasn’t enough to satisfy them. “people worked hard for GOOD COVERS and ya put this, smh,” one of them complained. Echoing the sentiment, one other added, “Out of all the raw covers I seen and they pick this.”
“after all those fan edits, controversial comments, and demands….THIS?!?” a frustrated fan commented. Meanwhile, someone noted that the new cover showed “no effort” but s/he would still listen to the album regardless.
People previously called out Virgil for his “lack of creativity” in making the cover art, with one commenting, “Wow look like the fair spray paint shirts. Issa a no. RIP Pop Smoke.” Another slammed the famed designer, “Virgil doesn’t keep anything 100. This is a 50%. Resubmit it for full credit, sir.”
An online petition was later launched against the Louis Vuitton designer as fans demanded a change on the album’s artwork, with the petition creator writing, “Virgil deada** was wild lazy with Pop Smokes Album cover and he needs to fix it.” One person who signed the petition shared, “I’m signing because this n***a Virgil is an artistic terrorist.” Another chimed in, “Never let this n***a touch a computer ever again.”
Back to the album, it successfully made fans emotional despite the cover. “Me listening to Pop Smoke realizing that this is it, they killed another legend, and we’ll never get a chance to see him perform these songs,” a fan mourned over the rising rapper who was shot to death in February.
Another fan added, “Popsmoke’s album has me vibing and emotional at the same time.” Someone also tweeted, “Pop smoke this album would have put you on top. You were just getting the clout u deserved. Gone too soon we love and miss you woo,” with one other admitting to “crying & vibin at the same time” while listening to the album.

  • Fans Voice Outrage Over Tyga's Feature on Pop Smoke’s Posthumous Album

    Instagram

One of the songs off the slain rapper’s posthumous debut album, ‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon’, features the ‘Rack City’ rapper as well as Quavo of Migos.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut album “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” has just been released, but it has already been caught in another drama. This time around, fans of the slain rapper voiced their outrage and disappointment after learning that one of the songs off the album featured Tyga.
Tyga lent his voice on a track called “West Coast S**t” alongside Quavo of Migos. This apparently upset fans greatly that his name became a trending topic on social media. For instance, one user reacted, “Purchasing a Tyga feature should legally be recognized as an act of terrorism.” Someone else said, “Tyga shouldn’t have been on the song.”
“First of all why is Tyga a feature on pop album, I thought we left him in rack city,” one other expressed his/her confusion, referencing Tyga’s hit song. Some people were also convinced that if Pop Smoke was still alive, he would never allow the “Hookah” rapper be on his records. “OK this song with Tyga is a skip,” another made his/her decision, while an individual commented, “What could this n***a Tyga POSSIBLY have to say on a pop smoke album.”
Besides Tyga, the 19-track LP featured 50 Cent, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Karol G and more.

Prior to the album’s release, the record was caught in a drama as people criticized its cover art and called out Virgil Abloh for his “lack of creativity” in making the art. Defending himself, the Louis Vuitton designer claimed that the cover art was inspired by his last conversation with Pop Smoke.
“the last conversation i had with @realpopsmoke was about what we were gonna do in the future. this album cover was one of like 5 things we talked about,” he wrote in a now-deleted post along with the album cover. “he mentioned his story felt like the metaphor of a rose and thorns growing from concrete of of his hood in Canarsie, Brooklyn.”
“in your memory I just finished it yesterday,” the CEO of the Milan-based label Off-White went on sharing. “as evident of the whole idea, the t-shirt insinuates it’s mandatory we put an and to this cycle of violence that plagues us, we need to shoot for the moon & aim for the stars. as heavy is it is we are celebrating your life the whole way thru. rest in peace young one.”

  • McFly Announces Comeback Album After 10 Years of Hiatus

    WENN

Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, and Danny Jones have confirmed they are working on a brand new studio album, ten years after their last one ‘Above the Noise’.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – British pop group McFly have signed their first record deal since 2009 and will release a new studio album later this year (20).
The four-piece, formed in 2003, scored a string of hits before they announced plans to take an extended break following their fifth album, 2010’s “Above the Noise”.
Last year (19), they were hitting the stage for the one-off “McFly: The Lost Songs” gig at The O2 in London, where they performed a bunch of unreleased songs from past sessions, which were later released on the album “The Lost Songs”, and now the boys are heading back into the studio to a selection of brand new tracks.
Speaking to the BBC, singer Tom Fletcher confirmed, “There was a strong possibility McFly would never happen again… We genuinely didn’t know how to get back on track.”
While Tom, Harry Judd, bassist Dougie Poynter, and guitarist Danny Jones’ solo careers drove a wedge between the four-piece, it was their manager of 18 years, Matt Fletcher, who ultimately brought them back together.
“He booked the O2 without telling us and he said, ‘Are you going to play it or not?’ ” Tom recalled. “And we all obviously said yes.”
“I think having a date in the diary that said ‘McFly at the O2′ just made us all realise we’d been stupid.”
“That was the start of the next chapter,” added Tom.
According to the BBC, the group played four new tracks, which reflected the “jangly positivity of Britpop – in the vein of The Boo Radleys’ Wake Up Boo, or Dodgy’s Staying Out for the Summer.”
A release date for the new album has yet to be announced.

  • Ed Sheeran Joins Rolling Stones to Demand Government Aid Dying Music Industry Amid Pandemic

    WENN

The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker, along with the likes of Mick Jagger and co, Paul McCartney, and Coldplay, is calling on the U.K. government to help revive the ‘crippled’ music industry.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, and Rita Ora are among the stars calling on the U.K. government to assist those working in the live music industry in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
More than 1,500 artists, including Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, and Liam Gallagher have signed a joint letter, warning the future is “bleak” for hundreds of thousands of workers in the sector.
Addressed to Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden appealing for sector specific support, the note says, “U.K. live music has been one of the U.K.’s biggest social, cultural, and economic successes of the past decade.”
“But, with no end to social distancing in sight or financial support from government yet agreed, the future for concerts and festivals and the hundreds of thousands of people who work in them looks bleak,” it continues. “Until these businesses can operate again, which is likely to be 2021 at the earliest, government support will be crucial to prevent mass insolvencies and the end of this world-leading industry.”
The letter calls for a “clear, conditional timeline” for reopening venues without social distancing, a “comprehensive business and employment support package” and access to finance, plus full VAT exemption on ticket sales.
“Amazing gigs don’t happen without an amazing team behind the stage, but they’ll all be out of jobs unless we can get back out there doing what we love,” said Liam Gallagher on how Covid-19 has affected the industry.
Dua Lipa added, “It’s incredibly important for artists like myself to speak up and support the live music industry in the U.K.”
To coincide with the initiative, artists have pledged to post films and photos of their last live gig under the banner #LetTheMusicPlay. Fans will also be encouraged to post about the last gig they went to in a mass show of support for the U.K.’s live music industry during the shutdown.
