  • 5 Seconds of Summer Cancels Tour Following Michael Clifford Sexual Assault Allegations

    WENN

The ‘She Looks So Perfect’ band announce hiatus as they call off their upcoming tour following sexual assault allegations that their frontman vehemently denied.
    Jun 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – 5 Seconds of Summer have postponed their North American and Australian tour and are “taking time off” to “focus on important things away from the band” after lead guitarist Michael Clifford was accused of sexual assault.
Earlier this month, June 2020, a woman, with the Twitter handle @sophiecth5, came forward to claim he’d assaulted her during the band’s 2013 tour supporting One Direction.
Clifford strenuously denied her claims in a post on Twitter, after which the account that had originally tweeted the allegations was deleted, and shortly afterwards a user with the handle @sophiectth5 tweeted that she’d actually been mistaken – and the person who assaulted her was, in fact, someone else.
Following the incident, and amid the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the group explained their “No Shame Tour” dates would not be going ahead as planned in August as they shared their “disappointment” over the decision.
In the Instagram post, they insisted that they were prioritising “safety” and added that they, for now, are “taking a bit of time off.”
“Playing live shows for our fans is what makes us want to be a band. While we are all disappointed to reschedule these shows, the safety of our fans, touring crew and venue staff takes precedence and we know this is the right decision,” the statement reads.
However, the Easier stars revealed they were able to add extra shows in several locations across Europe, the U.K. and in Philadelphia in the US next year when they resume the trek.
“We’re taking a bit of time off and focusing on important things away from the band, but we’ll be back very soon and continue to create music and make preparations for this tour worth the wait,” they said.

  • Rolling Stones Plan Lawsuit as Donald Trump Keeps Playing Their Songs at His Campaign

    WENN

Mick Jagger and his bandmates threaten to launch legal action as the President ignores their cease-and-desist letter to block him from using any of their music.
    Jun 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Rolling Stones are taking “further steps” to prevent Donald Trump from using their music at his Presidential campaign rallies.
The U.S. leader has ignored the previous cease-and-desist letters from the rockers, over the use of songs by the group, led by Mick Jagger, and their representative has issued a statement, insisting, “This could be the last time Trump uses any Jagger/ Richards songs on his campaigns.”
In the announcement on Saturday, June 27, 2020, the band stated that their legal team and performing rights organisation BMI sent another warning to Trump’s campaign that, if the president continued to use the band’s music, he could face a lawsuit.
“The BMI have notified the Trump campaign on behalf of the Stones that the unauthorised use of their songs will constitute a breach of its licensing agreement,” the Rolling Stones’ rep added.
“If Donald Trump disregards the exclusion and persists then he would face a lawsuit for breaking the embargo and playing music that has not been licensed.”
Despite previous warnings during the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump’s team still played the Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at the president’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 20.
According to the BMI, “The Trump campaign has a Political Entities License which authorises the public performance of more than 15 million musical works in BMI’s repertoire wherever campaign events occur.”
However, they told Deadline there’s a provision which, “allows BMI to exclude musical works from the license if a songwriter or publisher objects to its use by a campaign,” which the Rolling Stones plan to exercise.
R.E.M., Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses, and the estate of Tom Petty are among those who have also objected to Trump’s use of their music.

The 46-year-old singer delighted fans by joining Gary, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald for a livestreamed fundraiser last month, May 2020 – the first time he’d performed with the band since 2018.

  • Rufus Wainwright Previews New Album at Paramour Mansion Livestream

    Instagram

The ‘Rules and Regulations’ singer is giving his fans a sneak peek into his upcoming studio album at a livestream concert taking place at Paramour’s ballroom in Los Angeles.
    Jun 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright will preview his new album, “Unfollow the Rules”, by performing it in its entirety during a livestream concert on Saturday, June 27, 2020.
The “Cigarettes & Chocolate” singer will take over Paramour Mansion’s ballroom in Los Angeles for the special virtual concert, accompanied by piano, guitar and a string section.
The livestream will premiere on the All Arts’ Facebook page from 2 P.M. ET.

“The Paramour Session will show a completely different side of Unfollow the Rules,” Wainwright said in a statement. “Acoustic, stripped back, sparser, but in a Rufus Wainwrightian sense of course.”
“Good songs can survive in many different environments. I want my fans to have an opportunity to hear the music live when the album comes out. The only way we can do this responsibly during these times is with acoustic instruments, and fewer musicians in a large space, where everyone can be six feet or more apart, with a super small crew.”
“Rather than attempting to imitate the sound of the album, I think it’s both more responsible and more creatively interesting to try something new. There are no drums, no effects, no bass, no horns, no flutes, no back-up vocals – only strings that are bowed, picked, hammered, or strummed, and my voice. Let’s hope less is more. Of course, it helps that we are filming and livestreaming this from the gorgeous ballroom of the Paramour Estate.”
Wainwright will release “Unfollow the Rules” on July 10, 2020.

  • Brian McKnight Confirms New Album 'Exodus' Is His Final Record

    Instagram

The ‘Back at One’ hitmaker is releasing his sixteenth studio album to mark his first album since 2017’s ‘Genesis’ and his final project of all original material.
    Jun 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Brian McKnight’s next album looks set to be his last, but he’ll never stop making music.
The 51-year-old singer is dropping his new record “Exodus” on Friday, June 26, 2020 and told Entertainment Tonight that rumours he’s done releasing new tracks are true.
“This is it, as far as records go,” he explained. “I’ll always do shows, maybe not 150 a year, and who knows when we’ll go back to work and have another show, but I think this is a good time.”
“Just like Michael Jordan, I respectfully say, ‘Hey, I may come back and do another one.’ I don’t know right now. The way I feel is… there are other things I’d like to do. I’d like to travel with (my wife) Leilani, for just travel sake instead of work, and you know, a lot of other things. So we’ll see. But as of right now Exodus is it.”
However, McKnight has no intention of stopping making music – it’s just that he probably won’t release it.
“I need to be in a different headspace I think for a while and to see where a lot of things have changed in this business,” he said. “A lot of music and the way music is made has changed. People keep saying, ‘Oh, it’s gonna come back around to this,’…I haven’t seen that yet. Right now, I think I’ve said everything I wanted to say and we’ll see what happens next.”

    Jun 28, 2020

The trap-infused-pop track was produced by Billie Eilish’s producer brother Finneas and it originally appears on Trevor’s debut studio album “Nicotine”.
Trevor and Selena filmed a lyrics video for the song that takes form of an Instagram Live session, with lyrics coming up as comments on the video.

“When I heard the song the first time, I loved the fact that it was kind of like a story about all the things that we tend to hold onto and the patterns that we have,” Selena told Billboard about singing on the song. “And I’m very, very vocal about my personal experiences making decisions that aren’t necessarily healthy for me.”
The collaboration came after Daniel posted a mirror selfie wearing the “Wolves” hitmaker’s merch earlier this month. When she reposted it on her Instagram Story page, fans immediately speculated over whether the two had a song in the works.
