    Instagram

The Chicago rapper is believed by many to be using her Madlib-produced single as her response to J. Cole’s shade on his controversial song ‘Snow on Tha Bluff’.
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Noname is backtracking what was believed to be her clapback at J. Cole for shading her on his controversial song, “Snow on Tha Bluff”. Three days after releasing her new single, “Song 33,” the Chicago rapper expressed her regret for taking a jab at her fellow MC, but insisted to keep the song online for a specific reason.
Offering her apology through Twitter on Sunday, June 21, the 28-year-old first tweeted, “i’ve been thinking a lot about it and i am not proud of myself for responding with song 33. i tried to use it as a moment to draw attention back to the issues i care about but i didn’t have to respond.” She further admitted, “my ego got the best of me. i apologize for any further distraction this caused.”
In a follow-up tweet, Noname then explained why the Madlib-produced single will remain online. “madlib killed that beat and i see there’s a lot of people that resonate with the words so i’m leaving it up but i’ll be donating my portion of the songs earnings to various mutual aid funds,” she declared. “black radical unity.”

Noname expressed her regret over her release of ‘Song 33′.
The drama between Noname and Cole sprung up on June 16 after Cole released his song that seemingly criticized her for calling out her peers in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death at the hands of a white police officer in Minnesota. “She mad at the celebrities, low key I be thinkin’ she talking bout me,” parts of his lyrics read, “But s**t, it’s something about the queen tone that’s botherin’ me.”
Many were quick to criticize him for his song’s lyrics, prompting him to explain, “I love and honor her as a leader in these times.” He added, “She has done and is doing the reading and the listening and the learning on the path that she truly believes is the correct one for our people. Meanwhile a n***a like me just be rapping.”
Noname herself dropped “Song 33” two days later. In her one-minute and nine-seconds track, she appeared to hit back by rapping, “He really bout to write about me/ When the world is in smokes?/ When it’s people in trees?/ When George begging for his mother saying he couldn’t breathe/ You thought to write about me?”

  • Black Eyed Peas Voice Support for Fergie's Decision to Put Daughter Before Band

    Instagram

When addressing his former bandmate’s absence, will.i.am admits that they still try to keep in touch, but she will hear the group’s new album ‘Translation’ only when it has come out.
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Black Eyed Peas have confirmed reports suggesting Fergie (Stacy Ferguson) has stepped away from the band, revealing she’s more interested in being a good mum.
Band leader will.i.am tells Billboard his former sidekick hasn’t even heard its new album, “Translation”, explaining he no longer has a lot of contact with the singer.
“She’s going to hear it (new album) when everybody else hears it. I hope she likes it,” he says. “We try to keep in touch. We reach out every once in a while and say our hellos and happy birthdays and Merry Christmas and Happy Easter.”
“She knows where we’re at! We’re at the studio. And we love her, and she’s focusing on being a mom. That’s a hard job, and that’s what she really wants to do and we’re here for her, and she knows how to contact us for a retreat or a breakaway. It’s really the way Fergie designed it, so we’re respecting her design. We love Fergie, and we don’t want anything but awesomeness for her.”

Bandmate Apl.de.ap adds, “Fergie is our sister. So even with these small connections, she’s always going to be our sister. But unfortunately our schedule is displaced by (her) wanting to be a great mom, and she wants to focus on that. And like Will said, we support her 100 per cent.”
Fergie is mum to six-year-old Axl, her son from her marriage to ex-husband Josh Duhamel.

  • Artist of the Week: Lil Baby

The ‘Bigger Picture’ rapper has scored his second non-consecutive week on the top spot of Billboard Hot 200 with his second studio album ‘My Turn’ three months after its release.
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lil Baby has turned his life around through music. He grew up hustling on the streets of Atlanta and getting involved in petty crimes before landing in prison at the age of 19. Ready for a change upon his release in 2017 after two years in jail, he decided to take a chance in the rap game.
He kicked off his career with a mixtape called “Perfect Timing” that featured collaborations with fellow Atlanta-bred rappers like Lil Yachty, Young Thug, and Gunna. He continued to showcase his craft in three more street albums before eventually dropping his debut album in 2018.
His hard work paid off when the album “Harder Than Ever” climbed up to the top 3 on Billboard Hot 200 and peaked at No. 2 on R&B/Hip-Hop chart. He also scored his first top 10 hit as his single “Yes Indeed” featuring Drake peaked at No. 6 on Hot 100 and topped the streaming songs chart.
He continued to soar as he dropped his sophomore set “My Turn” two years later. The album debuted at the top spot on Hot 200, marking his first No. 1 album. Released in February this year, it was placed among Best Albums of 2020 – Mid Year in the lists compiled by Billboard and Compex.
In the next 13 straight weeks, the album had a steady performance and stayed in the top six positions of the U.S. albums chart before returning to the first place in the week ending June 11. It claimed the top spot for the second non-consecutive week with 65,000 equivalent album units.
His return to the top spot came as he debuted his political anthem “The Bigger Picture”. Amid the nationwide protest against racial injustice, the rapper showed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement by dropping a powerful message in his new song.
He didn’t hold back as he tackled police brutality towards African-Americans, “I gave ’em chance and chance and chance again, I even done told them please / I find it crazy the police’ll shoot you and know that you dead, but still tell you to freeze / F**ked up, I seen what I seen / I guess that mean hold him down if he say he can’t breathe / It’s too many mothers that’s grieving, They killing us for no reason / Been going on for too long to get even.”
The music video showed the protest in his hometown in the wake of George Floyd’s killing. He stood among the protesters, wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt and raising his hand in solidarity with the community. The song received positive reviews from critics and went viral on the black social media.

  • Report: Beyonce in 'Tentative Talks' About Destiny's Child Reunion

According to a new report, the trio, who shot to fame back in 1999, are planning to reunite for a tour when Coronavirus pandemic ends, as ‘there’s been tentative talks between all three.’
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Fans may see Destiny’s Child performing as a whole again. According to a new report, the trio are planning gigs while waiting for Coronavirus pandemic to end. Beyonce Knowles, alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (II), is allegedly in “tentative talks” about having a reunion for a tour.
“There’s been tentative talks between all three. They’ve always said they would get back together one day when the time is right — and there is no time like the present,” a source said to The Mirror about the group that went on indefinite hiatus in 2006.
The informant, however, noted that “nothing has been signed off yet.” The source continued, “But as soon as a vaccine is ready and the pandemic is over, watch out for an announcement. It would really lift fans’ spirits.”
Destiny’s Child shot to fame in 1999 with breakthrough album “The Writing’s on The Wall”. One of the most successful girl groups ever, they sold over 60 million records with “Bootylicious”, “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name” being among their hits. Additionally, Destiny’s Child nabbed a total of 14 Grammy Awards.
Following their split in 2006, Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle were promoting on their own. They first reunited in 2018 for Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime performance.
Of the possibility of the three’s reunion, Kelly told Entertainment Tonight last year, “I know every time there is a decision to be made for myself and the ladies to do something, it’s usually a surprise. And our fans have always been so supportive and so awesome, like, I like to give them surprises.”
Beyonce’s dad Matthew Knowles, meanwhile, hinted at something special to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary this year. “We’ll reveal some of the original Destiny’s Child wardrobe,” he shared. “So it would be great to consummate that with a Destiny’s Child tour, or integrate a tour into that activity.”

  • Camila Cabello Gifts Her Dad With Emotional Music Video of 'First Man' on Father's Day

    [embedded content]

Dedicating the promo to Alejandro, the ‘Senorita’ hitmaker fills it with her childhood home videos, and thanks her father for loving her ‘unconditionally, ferociously, and constantly.’
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Camila Cabello is making sure her dad knows how much she loves him on Father’s Day. On Sunday, June 22, the “Havana” hitmaker celebrated her father, Alejandro, by releasing a brand new music video for her sweet song “First Man”, that is filled with her sweet childhood memories of the two of them.
Four-minute long, the visual presents a compilation of the 23-year-old singer’s home videos that capture the warm moments they shared beginning with the time she was just a newborn. It sees her watching the footage on a television, and at one point, her teary-eyed father sits next to her as they look at the videos together.
When dropping the promo, the girlfriend of Shawn Mendes announced on Instagram, “Papa, I made this for you.” She continued, “thank you for loving me, unconditionally, ferociously, and constantly. doesnt matter if I fail or succeed, doesn’t matter if I feel on top of the world or like the dirt on my shoe lol. you love me just because you love me, without me needing to do or be anything other than just me.”
Wishing Alejandro a happy Father’s Day, the former member of Fifth Harmony went on to note why she is grateful for her father. “thank you endlessly, for everything. Thank you for showing me what love is and for showing me how to be loved,” she added. “I will always be your little girl. te amo mucho papa, thank you for being my hero, happy Father’s Day.”

Cabello has previously spilled that “First Man” was about her father’s reaction to her first serious relationship. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple’s New Music Daily, she shared, “This song is basically about when I was in my first serious relationship, I had never brought a boy home before. My dad hadn’t seen me dating or whatever. He was just like very sensitive about it.”
“And I think that’s the first time that he really felt that. And so he felt really protective over me and I just think that is the sweetest thing. I think the song is going to be like wine to me,” she continued explaining. “Like I think when I’m like 90 years old and if someday I’m just listening back to my songs, I think it’s just going to get more and more important to me as time goes on.”
Cabello performed the song live for the first time at the 62nd Grammy Awards in late January 2020. Leaving no dry eyes with her emotional performance, the “Senorita” singer reduced her father to tears when she stepped down from the stage to hold his hand near the end of her singing.
