The country music singer is thrilled to be allowed to use photo of the late Navy Seal in a music video for his new single ‘America (Still In Love With You)’.
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Country star Clint Black has publicly thanked the family of Navy Seal Kyle Milliken for allowing him to use the hero in the video accompanying his new song, “America (Still In Love With You)”.
The patriotic promo, released on Friday, June 19, 2020, was created in quarantine, but features images and video clips Clint has been collecting and clearing for over a year, according to Taste of Country.
Black was given permission to use Milliken’s image after a Navy Seal commander sent the country singer photos of the soldier, who was killed in combat in Somalia in 2017.

“I’m so humbled to have him appearing in that video and to be able to turn this into something greater than a song coming out,” Black says. “Kyle was very, very popular. One hell of a great American… He was quite the servant to our great country and he paid the ultimate price for that, as did his family.”

Black has also created a T-shirt for sale via his website, which will benefit the Kyle Milliken Foundation, launched by the soldier’s widow, Erin.

  • Tom Petty's Family Blocks Donald Trump From Using His Song in Campaign

    Instagram

The family members of the late rock legend have sent a cease and desist letter to President Trump after the classic song ‘I Won’t Back Down’ was used in a campaign rally in Tulsa.
    Jun 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Petty’s family members have released a joint statement denouncing U.S. leader Donald Trump’s use of the rock legend’s hit “I Won’t Back Down” at a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
According to the late star’s family, Tom, who died in 2017, “wrote this song for the underdog, for the common man and for everyone,” adding, “We want to make it clear that we believe everyone is free to vote as they like, think as they like, but the Petty family doesn’t stand for this.”
Condemning President Trump, they continued, “We believe in America and we believe in democracy. But Donald Trump is not representing the noble ideals of either.”
“We would hate for fans that are marginalised by this administration to think we were complicit in this usage. Concurrently, we have issued a cease and desist notice to the Trump campaign.”
The incident is the latest in a string of similar attacks on Trump by artists for using their work at rallies, with R.E.M., Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses, and The Rolling Stones just some of the other acts who have also objected to their music’s use at Trump’s events.

  • Oasis Feuds Between Noel and Liam Gallagher Fueled by Board Game War

    Instagram/Jill Furmanovsky

According to Noel Gallagher, he and estranged bandmate/brother Liam often ended up fighting whenever money was involved during their board game pastime.
    Jun 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – The sibling feud that led to Noel and Liam Gallagher breaking up Oasis was fuelled by their fights over the board game Frustration.
The game, which is known as Trouble in the U.S., was such a favourite of the brothers that they took it on tour with them everywhere and creators MB Games even made them their own personalised Oasis version.
However, Noel reveals there was a dark side to their love of the dice-based pastime as games played for money always ended in fights and Liam accused him of cheating.
“It would always end in violence,” the musician tells comedian Matt Morgan on his “Funny How?” podcast. “I was up about a grand ($1,220) up at one point on tour. He (Liam) always accused me that somehow, before the game had started, I had unscrewed the glass dome and put grease on the dice.”
“It’s a complete game of random – it’s in the lap of the gods. I was winning far too much for him to handle so he accused me cheating – f**king rigging the game. Would I rig a game of Frustration?”
The rock and roll star hasn’t let his fights with his brother put him off the game however as he says he took the Frustration after the band split in 2009 following a fight backstage before a gig in Paris, France – and still keeps a board in his dressing rooms today.
In the chat with Matt, Noel also reiterated his reluctance to reunite Oasis with Liam, despite his sibling’s calls to do so for a one-off charity gig for Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) workers – saying he would only be doing it to, “shut this f**king idiot (Liam) up.”

  • Dua Lipa Back to Work to Shoot New Music Video With Boyfriend Anwar Hadid

    WENN

The ‘Don’t Start Now’ singer has enlisted her own boyfriend to play onscreen love interest in her next music video to support a single from her new album ‘Future Nostalgia’.
    Jun 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dua Lipa has reportedly hired her boyfriend Anwar Hadid to play her love interest in her next music video.
The couple have been self-isolating together in north London during the U.K.’s coronavirus lockdown, and rather than wait until restrictions are fully removed, the star has apparently decided to push ahead and film with Anwar as rules on social distancing do not apply to those already living together.
“Dua has been getting back to work in London this week and has been shooting for her next music video,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
“Things were put on ice originally but with lockdown easing slower than they expected, they decided to push ahead and shoot a video with Anwar because he and Dua do not need to be two metres apart from each other.”
The music insider adds that the situation is perfect for Anwar who, like his sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, works as a model.
“It’s great for Anwar because he won’t have to see Dua writhing around with another man, not to mention the boost it will give his profile by being in the video,” they reveal. “They have done some sexy scenes too, so it has been fun for them both.”
The video will be for her fourth single from Dua’s chart-topping album “Future Nostalgia”, following the already released “Don’t Start Now”, “Physical”, and “Break My Heart” – but the track in question is yet to be revealed.

  • Cynthia Erivo Credits Lockdown for Allowing Her to Record Album

    WENN

The ‘Harriet’ actress keeps her creative juice flowing during the coronavirus lockdown by stepping into the recording studio to work on her delayed studio album.
    Jun 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer/actress Cynthia Erivo has used her time in lockdown to record the album she was hoping to make last year 2019.
The British star had a very busy 2019, promoting and earning multiple nominations for her film “Harriet”, in which she played former slave and abolitionist Harriet Tubman, and filming HBO series “The Outsider”, and she couldn’t find the time to lay down tracks.
So when the coronavirus pandemic began, her record company bosses were quick to call.
“When this first happened (COVID-19), I started recording,” she tells Deadline’s New Hollywood podcast. “My (record) label was like, ‘You’re at home, you’re not going anywhere which is great because you’re always going somewhere. We’ve got you in one place, we need you to record that album. Thank you!’ So I’ve been on and off recording that.”
Asked to describe her sound, the double Oscar nominee admits it’s a mixture of styles because she has a lot of different influences.
“Because I sing and I act there are, like, people who are a combination of both of those things. I was obsessed with Barbra Streisand, I was obsessed with Judy Garland, obsessed with Aretha Franklin, obsessed with Donna Summer.”
“Let’s call it emotive… It’s about emotions, heartache and love and all those things that we experience as human beings. That’s what it’s about.”
The 33 year old, who will play Franklin in the upcoming series “Genius: Aretha”, is also thrilled to be signed to Verve, the same label another of her heroes Nina Simone recorded for.
Citing her love of “the imperfection of the way she embraces music,” Cynthia shares that she really identifies with the “My Baby Just Cares for Me” hitmaker’s passion.
“For her (Nina), it wasn’t about making a pretty sound, it really was about communicating a message, communicating the cause at the time, how she felt, how people felt as a nation. She had a wonderful way of using her music to do that and more and more it became about freedom for her.”

    Instagram

The ‘Margaritaville’ hitmaker has decided to cancel his scheduled trip to Nashville for the upcoming weekend Grand Ole Opry performance due to Covid-19 concerns.
    Jun 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jimmy Buffett has cancelled his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday night, June 20, 2020 over COVID-19 fears.
The “Margaritaville” hitmaker was billed to perform with Brad Paisley and songwriter Mac McAnally as part of the Opry’s weekly TV and radio variety show, but a spike in coronavirus cases has forced him to pull out of the gig – even though he would have been playing to an empty theatre.
“I would just like to say how disappointed I am that because of circumstances with the recent spikes in COVID-19, I have had to postpone my trip to Nashville to play with Mac and Brad Paisley,” a Facebook statement reads.
“I have loved the Grand Ole Opry since the days I covered shows at the Ryman (Auditorium) as a Billboard reporter on Music Row in the early 70s before I moved to Margaritaville. As soon as it is safe for me to travel back to Music City and meet up with Mac and Brad, I will come play for you. Can’t wait. See you then and keep your Fins Up.”
Opry bosses have been staging their weekly TV and radio shows throughout the pandemic, sticking rigidly to health guidelines, employing as few staff as possible, and banning the public from attending the gigs.
