Nick Cave and His Band Offer Over 100 Prizes to Raise Funds for Tour Crew Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

    WENN

Nick and the Bad Seeds have launched an online fundraiser to help support their tour crew, whose livelihoods have been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

    Feb 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Nick Cave has launched an initiative to raise funds for cash-strapped crew members struggling due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
The rocker and his band The Bad Seeds were forced to cancel their 2021 tour at the end of last year, resulting in further financial hardship for their road crew and now Cave is hoping the crowdfunding idea will help cover their basic living costs.
He and his bandmates are offering up a series of prizes and experiences for fans to bid on as part of the crowdfunder, which launched on Thursday (18Feb21).
“Work for our crew has vanished,” a message on the site reads. “As freelancers, there has been little or no support on offer to them from the authorities, and available work elsewhere is currently almost non-existent.”

“We have supported our direct crew as best as we can, but we thought we’d also have a bit of fun with a prize draw to help raise funds for them.”
Cave and his bandmates aren’t the only ones launching campaigns to help crew members – Foo Fighters and Muse are among the acts who have donated prizes for a #ILoveLive draw, with all proceeds benefiting charities set up to aid out-of-work crew members.

Nick Cave and his band offer more than 100 prizes for the fundraiser. “Among the prizes to win are The Bad Seeds’ own signed instruments, a limited edition art print of Nick Cave, show tickets, gift vouchers, and much more,” they announced.

Pete Townshend Has Amassed 'Pages and Pages of Draft Lyrics' for The Who's Next Album

    WENN

Pete plans to reunite with bandmate Roger Daltrey in recording studio to work on their band’s next studio installment as the reminder of their tour is canceled due to Covid-19 crisis.

    Feb 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Rocker Pete Townshend is plotting to team up with singer Roger Daltrey after lockdown for a new The Who album.
The guitarist, 75, is working in his home studio and “wants to make another” record if it’s worthwhile financially, insisting streaming income is “a joke.”
“There’s pages and pages of draft lyrics,” he says, reported Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “If the moment comes, I’ll go in and start.”

The band released their 12th studio album, “Who”, in 2019 to critical acclaim, but the star admits he and frontman Daltrey, 76, “only just about got it done” due to their differing views.
“We’re very different – politically, socially, spiritually, in every respect,” he adds. “But we happen to be in this band together.”
Amid the pandemic, the rockers have been forced to cancel previously-postponed plans to tour the U.K. and Ireland. The musicians had originally rescheduled the March, 2020 dates for this year (21), but ongoing coronavirus concerns prompted them to ditch the shows altogether to avoid possibly having to rebook the gigs once more.
“We are very sorry that we have to cancel our planned March 2021 UK and Ireland shows. Please excuse the delay but we wanted to wait as long as possible to see if we could indeed play them. However, as you can see the current situation makes this impossible. Thanks for all your wonderful support and we hope to see you in the future when conditions allow,” the duo issued a joint apology following the cancellation.

Lana Del Rey Almost Gave Up Music After Tragic Death of Her Idol Amy Winehouse

    MOJO Magazine/Charlie Grant

The ‘Video Games’ singer claims she was so devastated by the tragic death of the ‘Rehab’ hitmaker back in 2011 that she nearly turned her back on music.

    Feb 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Lana Del Rey “didn’t want to sing anymore” after her idol Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011.
The “Video Games” hitmaker tells MOJO magazine she’ll always remember receiving her first review, as it came in on the same day the “Rehab” singer died of alcohol poisoning, aged 27, in July 2011.
She recalls, “I had 10 seconds of the most elated feeling, and then the news everywhere, on all of the televisions, was that Amy had died on her front steps and I was like no. NO.”
“Everyone was watching, mesmerised, but I personally felt like I didn’t even want to sing anymore.”

The “Blue Jeans” star goes on to admit she loved the anonymity and lack of pressure in the early days of her career, revealing she even recorded a track for a toilet roll commercial.
She said, “I maybe thought about Broadway. You’d get like a hundred dollars for singing background on records that would lead to nowhere.”
“There was this company that emerged called The Orchard that was taking submissions for, like, toilet paper commercials and I definitely did one, like, under a pseudonym.”
“Definitely the happiest I’ve ever been. Stay in the middle, no dog in the race, people would even hire me for background stuff. I tried to act so cool on every sofa I sat at.”
But Lana, who is set to release her seventh album “Chemtrails over the Country Club” on 19 May, insists she has no plans to step back from the limelight, sharing she has a “cover album of country songs” and another collection of “other folk songs” waiting to be released.

    WENN/Avalon/Lia Toby

Celebrating the success of ‘Tyron’ in becoming his first number one album, the ‘Mazza’ rapper gushes that it was the proof of ‘persistence, heart, and enough good people.’

    Feb 20, 2021
AceShowbiz – Rapper Slowthai has scored his first number one album in his native U.K.
“Tyron” debuts atop the Official Albums Chart, easily toppling last week’s first-placed album, the Foo Fighters’ “Medicine At Midnight”, with more than double the equivalent sales figures.
Thanking fans for helping to pull him through a difficult time in his life, he has dedicated the achievement to “anyone in a dark place”.
“This is proof that with persistence, heart, and enough good people, anything can happen,” Slowthai told OfficialCharts.com.
“I appreciate it more than ever. I just hope by making this music and using me as an example, I can show you that life does get better. This is for all the voices that haven’t been heard. We’re number one in the U.K.!”

He also dedicated the chart-topping record to his hometown, of Northampton. “I’ve always carried you on my back – I wouldn’t be me without you. This award means rehabilitation, revitalisation, to good will, health, and a brighter future,” he shared.

Rockers Pale Waves are another new entry at three with “Who Am I?”, with Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” in fourth place, ahead of The Weeknd’s greatest hits collection, “The Highlights”, at five.
Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo has secured a sixth consecutive week in pole position on the Official Singles Chart, with “Drivers License” edging out rappers Lil Tjay and 6LACK’s “Calling My Phone”, which is new at two.

Nathan Evans’ sea shanty hit “Wellerman” slips one spot to three, while Anne-Marie’s “Don’t Play” and The Kid Laroi’s “Without You” round out the new top five at four and five, respectively.

6ix9ine Trolls Meek Mill by Inserting Video of Their Confrontation in 'ZAZA' Music Video

    [embedded content]

The ‘GOOBA’ rapper uses his music video as an opportunity to troll the ‘All Eyes on You’ spitter by putting a clip of them being engaged in a verbal fight while dissing fellow rapper Lil Durk in his rap.

    Feb 20, 2021
AceShowbiz – Leave it to Tekashi69 (6ix9ine) when it comes to trolling. On Friday, February 19, the “GOOBA” rapper released a music video for his track “ZAZA” and he used that as an opportunity to troll foe Meek Mill in the music video, on which he dissed fellow rapper Lil Durk.
Taking subliminal shots at Durk, who lost his friend King Von in shooting accident last year, Tekashi raps, “You ain’t killed s**t, you let your man’s die.” He continues, “They killed your cousin and your man and you still ain’t do s**t.”
As for the music video, it is such a colorful one. The notorious online troll is seen enjoying a party with bikini-clad women who flaunt their derriere while having fun inside the pool. He also throws money at strippers and dancers.
The fun, however, suprisingly gets interrupted briefly as the scene cuts to footage from his and Meek’s confrontation outside a club in Miami earlier this month. The clip sees the “TROLLS” rapper screaming at Meek.

He then raps, “Are you dumb? When you see me, you better run/ You got your gun? They caught that n***a lackin’ like a b***h/ They killed your cousin and your man and you still ain’t do s**t.”
Tekashi took to his Instagram account to share a clip from the the music video. In the caption, he taunted Meek, “ALL THESE RAPPERS GOT MY NAME IN THEY MOUTH BUT WHEN THEY ME IN REAL LIFE THEY GOT EVERY EXCUSE IN THE WORLD. I KNOW! ZAZA. THE KING IS F***ING BACKKKKKKKKKK !!!!!”

Meek previously shared that Tekashi was planning to ambush him as he waited for him outside the club. “The headline should be: he waited outside a restaurant and popped up with the cops recording with his phone out! He tried to line me up to go to jail!” Meek tweeted after the showdown.
He went on detailing, “We did not run into eachother I was getting in my car he just popped out ….we almost was smoking on that 69 pack for the love of a viral moment ….. he tryna get something locked up no cap lol Why did he pick meeeee wtf lol. Then he said a Pooh shiesty bar to me wtf. I’m a real witness to that lol.”

Nipsey Hussle Planned Two More Albums Before Tragic Death

    Instagram

According to one of his collaborators, the ‘Victory Lap’ rapper had a long discussion about what he was going to do next after releasing his debut studio album in 2018.

    Feb 20, 2021
AceShowbiz – Nipsey Hussle had two more albums in the works before his death.
The “Double Up” hitmaker – who was fatally shot in March 2019 aged 33 – had a long-term career “mission” in mind after releasing his sole studio album “Victory Lap”, and spent an hour discussing his plans with Dead Prez member Stic.Man.
Speaking on the “Juan Ep Is Dead” podcast, Stic.Man said, “I had a conversation with Nipsey Hussle before he passed. We had an hour-long conversation about what he had been trying to do up to that point as an independent, and how he wanted his situation to be with Atlantic. He had made it to some certain personal goals he had. What he wanted to talk to me about was his three-album mission.”

      See also…

According to Stic.Man, the trio of albums began with “Victory Lap”, then there would have been a second record, and Nipsey planned to complete his contract with Atlantic Records with a final LP titled “The Spook Who Sat by the Door”, in honour of Sam Greenlee’s 1969 novel of the same dame.
Nipsey had called Stic.Man because he was seeking permission to “redo” Dead Prez’s 2000 debut album “Let’s Get Free”.
“He told me he wanted to redo Let’s Get Free, and wanted our permission,” he recalled. “He really wanted our permission to sample, and really redo it for what he called his generation. And all the admiration he had for that record, we just had a heart-to-heart back and forth. Obviously, we didn’t get to go there, but I want to speak to the heart Nip had.”

Jesy Nelson Teases Solo Comeback as She Returns to Studio After Leaving Little Mix

    Instagram

The former member of the Little Mix has been back in the recording studio and hung out with producers, two months after she left the all-female music group.

    Feb 20, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jesy Nelson is back in the recording studio again just two months after exiting Little Mix, teasing fans with a solo project.
The singer shared what looked like a studio session photo with a guitarist and engineer and then followed songwriter/producers Patrick Jordan Patrikios and Sunny, who have both worked with Little Mix, on Instagram on Thursday (18Feb21).
Patrikios also shared an Instagram Story segment featuring a happy Jesy chatting to an engineer.
Fans are now convinced she has hooked up with the two hitmakers and Hanni Ibrahim to record her first solo material, especially after she shared a cryptic “Let’s go!” post and “liked” a comment about releasing new music on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, her former bandmates – Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall – are gearing up to release their first track as a trio, “Heartbreak Anthem”.

      See also…

Nelson shocked fans when she left the band in December (20) to focus on mental health issues.
Her statement read, “To all my Mixers, the past nine years in Little Mix has been the most incredible time of my life. We have achieved things I never thought possible. From winning our first Brit Award to our sold out shows at the O2. So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix.”
“Making friends and fans all over the world, I can’t thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. You have always been there to support and encourage me and I will never ever forget it.”
“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process… I need to spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy.”
She added, “I’m ready to embark on a new chapter in my life – I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you’ll still be there to support. I want to say thank you to everyone involved in our journey. All the hard work and dedication that went into making us a success.”
