Jared Leto Almost Signed Billie Eilish After Being Wowed by Her Performance

    WENN

The 30 Seconds to Mars lead vocalist claims he almost took the ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker and her brother Finneas under his wing when they were still unknown artists.

    Jan 28, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jared Leto came close to signing Billie Eilish and her brother and collaborator Finneas when they were unknown artists after inviting them to perform at an intimate dinner party.
The “Suicide Squad” star recalls originally meeting the siblings through his married pals, film producer Emma Ludbrook and agent Tom Windish, and then recruiting the young musicians to play for guests including Leonardo DiCaprio.
“They weren’t signed, and I thought that maybe I would try and sign them, they were so incredibly talented and just special people,” he told America’s “The Late Late Show with James Corden”. “The music is one thing, but I think they’re just incredibly intelligent, really empathetic, just really good people, and I quite like them a lot.”
Leto reveals the duo, which has since soared to pop superstardom, left his celebrity pals in awe after performing at his Los Angeles home.

“At one point, they played at my house,” he said. “I had a little dinner for, like, 12 people and I said, ‘Hey, will you guys come and play a couple of songs?’ And they were, like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ ”
“They showed up… and played the most heartbreakingly beautiful music… It shouldn’t have sounded that good; it was impossible that it sounded that good.”
“I remember Leo DiCaprio was there and a couple of other people and they were just, like, ‘How did you find these people and, like, who are they?’ Everyone was just jaws on the floor, 12 people max at my place…”
Leto, who also performs with his band 30 Seconds to Mars, didn’t explain why he never ended up signing Eilish and Finneas, but added, “(They’re) just great people. I’m huge fans, too.”

Vivica A. Fox Thinks DaniLeigh's 'Yellow Bone' Is for DaBaby's Baby Mama

    WENN/Avalon

Meme herself previously appeared to respond to the song, which many deemed colorist as DaniLeigh rapped about ‘light-skinned’ women, writing on Instagram, ‘Lmfaoooo I’m gone I ain’t gone doooooo it.’

    Jan 27, 2021
AceShowbiz – Vivica A. Fox has weighed in on the controversy surrounding DaniLeigh’s new song “Yellow Bone”. In a new episode of Fox Soul’s “All New Cocktails with the Queens”, she shared with other co-hosts that it seemed like DaniLeigh released the song as a diss track for DaBaby’s baby mama Meme.
“She did that to get back to the baby mama, and she told that right in her face and it absolutely backfired on her,” Vivica assumed. “And she said, ‘I dated a whole black man.’ … Young lady, be careful.”

Meme herself appeared to respond to the song, which many deemed colorist as DaniLeigh rapped about “light-skinned” women. “Lmfaoooo I’m gone I ain’t gone doooooo it,” so she wrote on Instagram Story last week.

      See also…

DaniLeigh initially didn’t think her song was problematic. “Why I can’t make a song for my light skin baddies?? Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types… Why y’all so sensitive & take it personal… Gahhhh dam,” so she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
She added, “Ima keep letting God bless me .. while y’all sit back and judge me && sit behind y’all lil phones and type s**t about another woman .. y’all all HATERS.”
However, as the backlash continued, DaniLeigh then issued a lengthy apology. “Hey guys, it’s DaniLeigh. I just wanted to address what’s going on with me right now. I think it’s super important, because I definitely feel super misunderstood. My song ‘Yellow bone is what he want,’ I think people twisted it into thinking, like, I’m trying to bash another woman, another skin tone, that was never my intention,” so she said in now-deleted Instagram post.
She went on to share, “Skin isn’t something I even see, it’s not something that I look at. I don’t live for the internet because people don’t know me. So that’s why I thought it was important to speak on, because you don’t know me, it’s like, let me tell you guys what I meant by this. Hopefully you guys can watch it with a open heart, a genuine mind, and try to get past it.” She concluded, “I’m sorry, again, if I offended people — who are truly offended — I’m sorry. I’m going to just keep grinding, keep doing me, keep posting me. I hope everybody has a great Sunday. It’s all love.”

Sabrina Carpenter Looks Forward to Evolving as Artist After Signed to Island Records

    Instagram

Darcus Brees, the president and CEO of the recording company, describes the ‘Skin’ hitmaker as ‘a star’ and ‘a talented young woman’ with powerful vocals and infectious personality.

    Jan 27, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter has landed a major new deal with Island Records.
The 21-year-old confirmed the exciting news in a statement released on Tuesday (January 26) as her new single “Skin” becomes a huge radio hit in the U.S.
Sabrina says, “Darcus (Brees, president and CEO of Island Records) and the team really understood my vision from the moment we first met. They just got me and have been super supportive.”
“It’s the perfect place for me to start the next chapter of my music career and evolution as an artist. I can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’re working on for this year!”

      See also…

Brees adds, “Sabrina Carpenter is a star. Her powerful vocals, infectious personality, and successful career as a singer, songwriter and actress attest to that. We are thrilled to welcome such a talented young woman to the Island Records family.”

Carpenter has also been making headlines for the curious lyrics in “Skin”, which fans are convinced is a response to Olivia Rodrigo’s Billboard Hot 100 number one “Drivers License”.
In the 17-year-old’s breakup anthem, she sings, “And you’re probably with the blonde girl/Who always made me doubt/She’s so much older than me/She’s everything I’m insecure about,” which fans believe is about Rodrigo’s “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” co-star and alleged former boyfriend Joshua Bassett’s new love, Carpenter.
Carpenter addressed the speculation over the weekend, writing, “i wasn’t bothered by a few lines in a (magnificent) song and wrote a diss track about it… Skin isn’t calling out one single person. some lines address plenty of other experiences I’ve had this past year.”

Cardi B Reacts to Being Dragged Into DaniLeigh's 'Yellow Bone' Colorism Controversy

    WENN/Avalon

‘Every 6 months I gotta explain myself cause people can’t research,’ so the Grammy winner says on Twitter after her name is brought up in the wake of colorism controversy surrounding DaniLeigh.

    Jan 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – In the wake of controversy surrounding DaniLeigh’s new song “Yellow Bone” that many deem promoting colorism, one name is being dragged. Twitter users thought it was unfair that DaniLeigh was being canceled while Cardi B was getting a free pass when they are both Dominican.
To make their point, a video of Cardi during an interview resurfaced online. “I don’t even like people that I think is my race. Just because I like people that are different from me. I like people that are not like me,” the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker shared. “I like their culture. I already know my culture, so I want something new to me.”
In response to that, one user wrote on the blue bird app, “Y’all canceled Dani Leigh for certain language but cardi B get a pass?? Make it make sense!!!” Echoing the sentiment, someone said, “My take on it is how y’all mad at Dani but support Cardi B. So if y’all gone cancel Dani cancel Cardi B. Two Hispanic women benefitting off black culture.”
Another comment read, “dani leigh got dragged for pretending to be black now cardi has had to get her family photos out tk prove she’s afro latina loooo.” One person added, “I thought it was very clear that Cardi was not a black person. She is a Hispanic person with no black in her. The same way y’all dragged Dani, y’all need to do for Cardi.”

Cardi caught wind of the discourse and quickly explained herself on Twitter. “Every 6 months I gotta explain myself cause people can’t research,” so the Grammy winner said on Monday, January 25. She went on sharing pictures of her family members who are all Afro-American. “It’s time for ya to pick up a book.Your ignorance at this point is a Choice,” she added in a separate tweet.

Cardi B reacted to being dragged into DaniLeigh’s ‘Yellow Bone’ controversy.
DaniLeigh, meanwhile, has issued a lengthy apology following the backlash. “Hey guys, it’s DaniLeigh. I just wanted to address what’s going on with me right now. I think it’s super important, because I definitely feel super misunderstood. My song ‘Yellow bone is what he want,’ I think people twisted it into thinking, like, I’m trying to bash another woman, another skin tone, that was never my intention. I wasn’t brought up like that, I never looked at my skin as a privilege. I never looked at me as ‘I’m better than somebody because of my skin tone,’ ” so she wrote in now-deleted Instagram post.
“I see brown skin women flaunt their skin all the time in music, why can’t I talk about mine? If you look at me, I’m light-skinned, I’m a yellow bone. In my opinion, that’s just what I am. So, it wasn’t something that I looked at so deeply. Which, I can see why people will take it deeply, so I understand and I’m sorry that I wasn’t sensitive to the topic when I wrote my comment ‘why are you guys taking so personal?’ ” she added. “Because, it can be a personal thing to certain people, because colorist is a real thing so I do get it. But I’m not that. I’m not a colorist. I’m not a racist. I date a whole chocolate man. I have beautiful dark-skinned friends.”
Concluding her message, she said, “Skin isn’t something I even see, it’s not something that I look at. I don’t live for the internet because people don’t know me. So that’s why I thought it was important to speak on, because you don’t know me, it’s like, let me tell you guys what I meant by this. Hopefully you guys can watch it with a open heart, a genuine mind, and try to get past it. I’m sorry, again, if I offended people — who are truly offended — I’m sorry. I’m going to just keep grinding, keep doing me, keep posting me. I hope everybody has a great Sunday. It’s all love.”

Erica Banks Reveals If She Wants to Collab With Labelmate Megan Thee Stallion: 'It's All Business'

    Instagram

In a new interview, the new 1501 Entertainment artist also shares if she is planning to do a remix version of her hit song ‘Buss It’ and which rapper whom she wants to do the remix with.

    Jan 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – Erica Banks is one of the rising stars in hip-hop music industry as her track “Buss It” is such a hit. The raptress, who signed to Megan Thee Stallion’s label 1501 Entertainment, has been deemed as Megan’s rival. However, Erica reveals in a new interview that she’s always open for a collaboration with the Hot Girl Summer.
“Y’all both signed to the same label. Y’all both Texas. Y’all both success. So would you collaborate with Megan Thee Stallion? The folks want to know…,” asked one of the co-hosts in an interview with The Shade Room on Monday, January 25. To the question, Erica responded without hesitation, “I would collab with Megan Thee Stallion.”
Elaborating her answer, Erica added, “At the end of the day, it’s all business. You know what I’m saying? It’s nothing personal. At the end of the day, we’re all artist. At the end of the day, we all do music. So anything personal, which there is nothing, I wouldn’t even look at outside the business. So yeah, I would.”
In the interview, Erica was asked if she was planning to do a remix version of her hit song “Buss It”. “We didn’t even talking about a remix, but everybody keeps asking. So maybe, I don’t know, we might end up doing it,” Erica shared. As for whom she wanted to do it with, the raptress said, “I mean, I can’t think none other than Nicki Minaj. Because who better than Nicki Minaj?”

      See also…

Fans were loving the positive vibes that Erica was giving in the interview. “People giving her too much hate, it’s not like she did anything wrong,” one fan wrote in an Instagram comment. “Let’s goo ! That would be nice … Erica keep your positive energy,” another said, while someone else added, “The gag is there was no beef. The FANS concocted this imaginary beef.”
However, some others weren’t here for it. Reminding others that Erica allegedly had done her fair share in sparking feud rumors between her and the “Savage” hitmaker, a person wrote, “Clearly people don’t be knowing what they talking about. It’s literally on the internet how Erica signed and been shading Meg throughout ever since.”
“Was dissing her, but now you’d collab with her. NO THANK YOU,” claimed another user. Mocking Erica, another comment read, “not the clone tryna take over the original.”
