Phil Collins' Reunion With Genesis Gets Delayed Amid Ongoing Pandemic

    Instagram

The upcoming reunion of Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford are now scheduled for September and October following delay because of the Covid-19 health crisis.

    Jan 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Genesis have rescheduled their reunion tour again while giving fans a look at their stage set.
Phil Collins and his bandmates announced the news on Twitter on Friday (22Jan21), explaining dates are now set for September and October.
“We’re ready, but the world isn’t… yet!” the band tweeted. “Genesis are rescheduling their April U.K. and Irish tour dates for autumn 2021 in light of the ongoing pandemic. The Last Domino? Tour 2021 will now start in Dublin, Ireland on 15th September.”
The announcement was accompanied by a video, featuring Genesis performing “Behind the Lines”.
The trio had originally planned to hit the road between November and December 2020, but it pushed those dates back to this spring due to the coronavirus. The new dates are part of their first tour since 2007.

The “Last Domino? Tour 2021” will consist of 19 shows in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and England.
The band released “We Can’t Dance”, their last album with Phil Collins, in 1991. After his departure, they recruited Ray Wilson for 1997’s “Calling All Stations”. It was the group’s last album before they went on a hiatus.
Meanwhile, Phil Collins released at least four solo albums following his exit from the band. He dropped “Both Sides” in 1993, “Dance Into the Light” in 1996, “Testify” in 2002, and “Going Back” in 2010.
He announced his retirement from music in 2011.
The musician is unlikely to play drums again due to health issues. He said in an interview that he would love to recruit his 19-year-old son, Nicholas, to take over drumming if the Genesis reunion came about. “I haven’t really said it to Tony and Mike… (but) if we did anything again it would be with Nic on drums,” he said.

Forgotten Recordings of AC/DC's Former Frontman Bon Scott Due for Release

    YouTube

The lost recordings of the late vocalist during his stint in rock band Fraternity have been found and will be released as a special boxset by the Cherry Red Records.

    Jan 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Bon Scott’s lost recordings from the late singer’s stint in rock band Fraternity will be released as a special boxset.
Before becoming AC/DC’s lead vocalist in 1974 until his untimely death in 1980, the rock legend – who tragically passed away, aged 33, after he choked on his own vomit following a drinking session – was the frontman for the Australian rock band between 1971 and 1973.
And on January 22, Cherry Red Records will drop the remastered collection, which boasts their albums “Livestock” and “Flaming Galah”, singles and everything in between, which have been dusted off of tapes kept by their manager, Hamish Henry.
Fans will get to hear Scott’s vocals and him on recorder on the “Seasons of Change – The Complete Recordings, 1970-1974” boxset, which is named after their cover of Blackfeather’s “Seasons of Change”.
The surviving members of the band – Bruce Howe, John Freeman, Sam See, John Bisset, and Uncle John Eyers – and the Estate of late guitarist Mick Jurd joined forces with music promoter Victor Marshall and Henry to share the recordings.
The extensive three CD collection comes “beautifully presented, with exhaustive 18,000 word sleeve-notes and unseen photos of the band,” as per Cherry Red.

Over the years, Fraternity went through a series of lineup changes and band names, including Fang, Some Dream, finally settling on Mickey Finn, which they were called at the time of their split in 1981.
Meanwhile, Scott’s replacement in AC/DC, Brian Johnson, previously revealed he and his bandmates still feel Scott’s presence in the band.
He said, “He wasn’t a wild, wild, wild man – he was just as wild as the other boys were. He was just unlucky. We’ve all done stupid, dumb things where we’re young, but we got away with it. He didn’t.”
“It was just one of them stupid things that shouldn’t have happened, and it was accidental and it was stupid.”
“I just won’t have a bad word said against him. We still talk about him like he’s a member of the band in the dressing room.”
Scott took over from Dave Evans after his brief stint as the lead singer of AC/DC.

Lady Antebellum Named Latest Inductees of Grand Ole Opry

    Instagram/Hodges Usry

Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood, who now go by the moniker Lady A, are going to be inducted into Grand Ole Opry in an upcoming television special.

    Jan 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Lady A have become the Grand Ole Opry’s latest inductees.
The “Need You Now” hitmakers were invited to become members of the Opry during a taping for an upcoming TV special celebrating the Tennessee venue’s 95th anniversary.
Darius Rucker, who joined the Opry in 2012, officially asked the trio to join. The surprise invitation will air during “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music”, which premieres on 14 February (21).
The group, then known as Lady Antebellum, made their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2007. The bandmates decided to shorten their Civil War-associated name to Lady A in response to the national conversation about racism last summer (20).

Their decision angered blues singer Anita White, who also performed as Lady A, and led to a number of angry lawsuits.
In a recent interview, the trio explained why it took them so long to change their name. Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood admitted Black Lives Matter movement was the catalyst behind their decision.
Charles said, “We came up with the name thinking about the antebellum home…I don’t know. It’s so naive now looking back, but I think, as we’ve grown up, we all have kids now.”
“I mean, why now? Well, we’re a lot older, we look at the world a lot different. We’re trying to leave the world a little bit better, too, for our kids and the next generation. And we want to be a part of change.”
Hillary concurred, “We realised, you know, over the summer I think not touring and watching just this movement happen that is so needed in this country and around the world, we started to see what our part was, what part of our first steps and making a difference could be. And so our name changing was the first step.”

Smaller Event to Celebrate Glastonbury Anniversary in the Works

    Facebook

The organizers Michael and Emily Eavis are planning a small event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Glastonbury after the music festival was canceled for 2021 due to pandemic.

    Jan 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Michael Eavis is considering hosting a smaller event in September after the 2021 Glastonbury festival was cancelled.
The co-organiser of the world famous music extravaganza – who curates the lineup with his daughter Emily Eavis – would love to be able to put on a small-scale event to celebrate the inauguration of the festival, which first launched on 18 September 1970, after they were forced to postpone the Somerset five-dayer for a second time due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Eavis told LBC radio, “I would like to do something in September. I would like to do something smaller somewhere around the anniversary date of when we started, which was the 18th of September 1970. I would like to consider possibly doing something around that time.”

And when quizzed on whether they’d ask major acts to perform at such an event, he said, “Yes, but I do need to get reassurance from the ethics people.”
Michael and Emily announced on Thursday (21Jan21) that the rescheduled 2020 festival – which would have been the event’s 50th anniversary – would not go ahead this year, due to the continued spread of coronavirus throughout the U.K., and the restrictions that are in place to fight the respiratory illness.
The decision to call off the festival for the second year in a row came despite the best efforts being made to get fans at Worthy Farm and the artists on stage, which would have included headliners Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney, and Kendrick Lamar.
Other major festivals in the U.K., such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Download Festival are still pushing ahead with their preparations in the hope of staging their events this year.

Garth Brooks Responds After Being Criticized for Hugging Inauguration Guests While Maskless

    Instagram

A representative for the country music singer insists the star took multiple tests to make sure he’s Covid-free as he was called out for hugging former Presidents while wearing no face mask.

    Jan 24, 2021
AceShowbiz – Garth Brooks made sure he was COVID-free for his performance at the U.S. presidential inauguration on Wednesday (20Jan21) by taking a test just before he hit Capitol Hill.
The country star, who performed “Amazing Grace” a cappella after Joe Biden was sworn in as America’s 46th leader, was criticised for shaking hands and hugging all the former presidents and first ladies in attendance, maskless, after his appearance, but a representative for the singer insists he had taken every precaution in advance.
The rep tells U.S. news show “Today” that Garth had tested negative for COVID-19 for three days prior to his performance and again hours before his performance in Washington, D.C.
Brooks also faced criticism from his more conservative fans for agreeing to sing at Democrat Biden’s inauguration, but he responded, “This is not a political statement, this is a statement of unity.”
Garth Brooks recently reached out to Lady GaGa on social media to thank her hair and makeup team for helping him to get ready for the Presidential inauguration performance.

Lady Gaga was at the big event to perform the U.S. National Anthem.
Both Garth Brooks and Lady GaGa along with another musical guest Jennifer Lopez were lauded for their moving performances.
Sophia Bush wrote, “That moment. Inviting everyone in America to sing ‘Amazing Grace’ together … it was hard to get the words out through tears. But it felt beautiful to do that with folks all across the country.”
“Amazing Grace, indeed,” remarked Kim Cattrall.
Meanwhile, Bette Midler hailed GaGa for her “sensational version” of the national anthem and applauded J.Lo for “another great new version of two American standards.”

TikTok Sensation Secures Major Record Deal Thanks to Viral Sea Shanty Video

    ABC

Scottish postman Nathan Evans reveals that he has signed with Polydor Records after his clip performing traditional folk tune ‘The Wellerman’ in his bedroom went viral.

    Jan 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – A Scottish postman has landed a major deal with Polydor Records after becoming a viral sensation by posting a sea shanty on TikTok.
Nathan Evans uploaded a video of himself performing traditional folk tune “The Wellerman” in his bedroom on the app and music executives at Polydor took note.
“I was a postman last Friday and now I have just signed to the biggest record label in the world,” the 26-year-old says. “I have just signed a deal with Polydor Records. I’ve done it. It’s done and I’m releasing a single.”
Evans’ debut single is an electric dance music remix of the sea shanty, featuring 220 KID and Billen Ted. It was released on Friday, January 22.

The postman sparked a sea shanty craze on TikTok as others post videos of their folk tunes.
“It is crazy and has gone much further than I ever thought it would go,” he previously told BBC Radio 4’s “Today” programme. “I did a sea shanty back in July 2020, just because someone had asked in a comment under one of my videos. So I uploaded that and it reached 1.1 million views. I thought there must have been a demand.”
“People were looking forward to more and they were commenting underneath every video after that saying, ‘Can you sing this one? Can you sing that one?’ It was just requests from people for me to sing to them.”
    [embedded content]
Talking about the sea shanty craze, he told “Good Morning America”, “I think it’s because of the times we’re in at the minute and the fact that everybody’s feeling a bit down… This lifts everyone’s spirits and they can join through TikTok… It brings that feel-good factor.”
Evans reveals the tune that turned him into a Polydor artist was originally sung by merchant seamen “to keep everyone in time with the work they were doing.”

Inside Tension Between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole During 'Verzuz' Battle

    Instagram

Meanwhile, Keyshia’s DJ explains why the ‘Love’ hitmaker was late for the highly-anticipated episode, noting that ‘she didn’t wanna come out ’cause her screen was blurry.’

    Jan 23, 2021
AceShowbiz – Ashanti and Keyshia Cole had their long-awaited “Verzuz” battle on Thursday, January 21. While the two singers offered fans such an epic battle while performing their hits, viewers couldn’t help but notice the growing tension between the two.
One of the tense moments was when Ashanti asked Keyshia, “KC can you hear me?” To that, the “Love” hitmaker responded, “I get to start it off.” After pausing a moment, Ashanti told Keyshia that she just started the last round before laughing. “No, no, no, I didn’t start, I didn’t start let’s go into that…,” Keyshia insisted as she tried to play her next song.
Ashanti was then seen smiling awkwardly before confirming with someone offscreen she had just gone with “I Should’ve Cheated”. Once again, she reminded Keyshia that she started first. The back and forth continued for a while.

Even before the battle kicked off, they started with a drama as they they were both late, leaving people to wait for about an hour. Explaining why Keyshia was late for the highly-anticipated episode was Keyshia’s DJ. “She didn’t wanna come out ’cause her screen was blurry,” the DJ said on 97.9 The Box.
“On her end, her screen was blurry. She was there on time. I seen everything. She was there but she didn’t wanna come out because the screen was blurry and stuff wasn’t right, you know. We couldn’t hear [Ashanti’s] side, so it was a lot of technical stuff going on there,” the DJ went on to explain.
Keyshia and Ashanti were initially set to go head-to-head on December 12, 2020. Fans, however, were forced to wait a little longer as it was pushed back due to Ashanti’s COVID-19 diagnosis. “Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the “Foolish” singer told fans. “I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… we’re tring (sic) to figure it all out!!!”
However, earlier this month, the show announced that the song battle was delayed again as it would be moved to separate locations. “This has been an emotional week. In addition, as COVID-19 numbers continue to increase, safety is a top priority for us,” the show, which hails from Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, announced on Instagram on Friday, January 8. “As much as we enjoy having everyone together in the same room, to protect the artists and everyone who works with us in putting the shows together, we’ll be going back to separate locations for a bit.”
