Specific details regarding the year-long events, titled P25 Music, have not been released, but it’s being launched in collaboration with label officials at Universal Music Group.

“It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world.”
Perry, who welcomed daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom in August (20), even paid a visit to The Pokemon Cafe during her last trip to Japan in 2019.
“I was pregnant when I was there actually, little did I know!” she laughed to People.com. “It was amazing. It brought up all these wonderful childhood memories. I’ve been going to Japan since I was 17 every year and have always really loved everything that’s been created there.”

“In this moment of unknown, there are dependable places and characters and institutions and people, and I hope I can be one of them,” she said. “That’s what I hope for in my personal self, and even in my involvement with this collab (sic).”

Shakira Praises Hipgnosis Songs as 'Ally to Songwriters' After Selling Entire Music Catalog

    Instagram

Having acquired the publishing rights of the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker’s catalog, founder Mercuriadis dubs her ‘one of the most serious and successful songwriters of the last 25 years.’

    Jan 14, 2021
AceShowbiz – Shakira has sold her music publishing catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs.
The Lebanese-Colombian singer has become the latest signing for the music organization, which has already acquired the entire catalogues of Lindsey Buckingham and Jimmy Iovine in 2021, and 50 percent of Neil Young’s songs.
In a statement, Shakira said, “Being a songwriter is an accomplishment that I consider equal to and perhaps even greater than being a singer and an artist. At eight years old – long before I sang – I wrote to make sense of the world. Each song is a reflection of the person I was at the time that I wrote it, but once a song is out in the world, it belongs not only to me but to those who appreciate it as well.”
“I’m humbled that songwriting has given me the privilege of communicating with others, of being a part of something bigger than myself. I know Hipgnosis will be a great home for my catalogue – and I’m so happy to partner with this company led by Merck (Mercuriadis, Founder of Hipgnosis Songs) who truly values artists and their creations and is an ally to songwriters everywhere who care deeply about the continued life of their songs.”

      See also…

As well as acquiring 100 percent of Shakira’s catalogue – comprising 145 songs – Hipgnosis has purchased the singer’s publishing and writer’s share of income.
Mercuriadis added in a statement, “One step at a time, this incredible woman from Colombia has evolved into one of the most famous and influential people in the world. What no one should ever take for granted is that she is one of the most serious and successful songwriters of the last 25 years, having written or co-written virtually every song she has ever recorded.”

“She is a superb creator who has led the charge from what was massive physical success to now having bigger success in streaming than most of her contemporaries. This is the result of her being a determined force of nature and having written songs the world is incredibly passionate about. It’s wonderful for us to welcome, Shakira, the Queen of Latin Music and much more, to the Hipgnosis family.”

    Instagram

The leaks aside, fans who have heard the songs totally love the tracks as one gushes, ‘brooooo if they’re taken out of the album I’ll be so disappointed, they’re both fire.’

    Jan 14, 2021
AceShowbiz – Fans who are waiting for Travis Scott (II)’s next studio album, “Utopia”, seemingly are spoiled. It has been reported that multiple songs from the Grammy nominee’s next project leaked on Spotify.
Among the songs that popped up on the streaming platform were “Vision” and “Niagara Falls”. Both were now removed from Spotify, though it was not before a lot of fans heard listened to the them.
“Apparently someone hacked Travis Scott and it’s releasing leaks on his streaming platforms,” one Twitter user reported on Tuesday, January 12. The person also attached two screenshots of the song on the app.
The leak aside, fans who had heard the songs totally loved the tracks. “brooooo if they’re taken out of the album I’ll be so disappointed, they’re both fire,” one fan gushed. “Vision is actually just looped but niagara falls is the whole song, I hope he releases them soon tho and they are both in the album,” another fan echoed the sentiment.

Meanwhile, someone noted that “there’s a solid full-length ‘Niagara Fall’ leak on SoundCloud that I’ve been listening to since October.” Hoping that the “ASTROWORLD” musician kept those songs on his next album despite the leak, another person said, “Both great but if they get taken off an album now :(.”
As for the album, Travis previously teased that it might contain a collaborative song between him and Roddy Ricch. The latter took to Instagram back in December to share an image that read, “WELCOME TO UTOPIA.” He also wrote, “@travisscott wya foo, I’m here.” Travis also posted the photo to his own story, adding moon and mountain emojis.
Travis further showed his excitement in releasing the new album sometime this year. “AFTER THIS TWEET IMMA THROW MY PHONE,” he tweeted. “IM TURNT. F**K I LOVE YALL SO MUCH. THIS SONG MAKE WE WANNA JUST RUN THREW A WALL AND PUKE !!!!! GOING TO GO COOK UP AND BUILD THESE WALLS FOR UTOPIA. SEE YOU GUYS SOON.”
“Thank you for always rocking with me and the whole Cactus gang,” the ex of Kylie Jenner continued. “Your support is beyond appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed. Hope you and your families are staying safe in these times and I look forward to going up with you once everyone is back. Thank you again! For all of the support and see you guys in 2021 in UTOPIA!!”

Andrew Bird Reunites With Squirrel Nut Zippers' Jimbo Mathus for New Joint Album

    Instagram

Having reunited with his former bandmate to work on ‘These 13’ together, the folk rocker praises his collaborator for ‘representing his own branch of the American musical tree.’

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Folk rocker Andrew Bird has reunited with his former Squirrel Nut Zippers bandmate for a new joint album.
The singer worked with Jimbo Mathus in the swing and jazz ensemble back in the late 1990s and they reconnected last year, when Bird joined the group on its song “Train on Fire”.
Now the two musicians are heading back into the recording studio together to work on a full-length project, titled “These 13”, which will be released in March (21). In the meantime, they’ve given fans a taste of what to expect by sharing their first single, “Sweet Oblivion”.

In a statement, Bird heaps praise on Mathus by saying, “Up until meeting Jimbo, all my musical heroes were dead.”
“Jimbo was anything but and just oozed musicality of a kind I thought was extinct. Had I not met Jimbo, who knows, but I think my music would have gone on a much more cerebral, complex trajectory. He is an enigma, a walking contradiction: wild yet refined, worldly yet colloquial. He represents his own branch of the American musical tree.”
“It’s been my dream for years now to make this record with Jimbo,” he adds. “Just guitar, fiddle and our very different voices. I wanted to make sure you can really hear him as if for the first time.”
Mathus added, “Musically speaking, Andrew challenged me early on. As I had the deep south rural musical upbringing but had yearned to know more of the Chicago and New York scenes of those early days of American popular music. Bird had schooled himself on that, absorbing the European strains of American music and theater, as well as the Chicago-based indigenous albeit transplanted African American musical heritage. It was a true mutual benefit society and we both pursued those goals to a final conclusion.”
“At some point after Andrew had been on the road as Bowl of Fire, he began mutating his music and creating an entirely new form. In other words, he started to become the artist he needed to be at that time and so did I,” he continued.

Matt Healy Teases Collaboration With Charli XCX

    WENN

The 1975 lead vocalist is ‘very excited’ about his upcoming music project where he teams up with ‘some brilliant artists’ including the ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker.

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Matty Healy has teased his upcoming collaborations with Charli XCX and Beabadoobee.
The 1975 frontman has admitted he’s “very excited” about the new tunes he has with some “brilliant artists” and confirmed they include the “1999” hitmaker and his record label Dirty Hit’s hottest signee.
The “Love Me” hitmaker wrote on Instagram alongside a series of snaps from his home, “Lockdown in the bunker. Keeping sane by cleaning and taking pictures currently. Very excited about new music in the coming months with some brilliant artists (thank you to them!) – new playlist tomorrow, for sanity reasons.”
And when quizzed by a follower if he is teaming up with the singers, he replied, “BOTH!”
Back in August 2019, the “Chocolate” hitmaker revealed to fans that he had sent a “beat” to “Gone” singer Charli and shared it’s a “monster tune.”

      See also…

He tweeted at the time, “Sent her a beat at like 5pm yesterday and woke up this morning to a HIT. A MONSTER TUNE!! I’m prolific but she’s on some s***@charli_xcx (sic)”
However, when asked whether his band or himself will feature on the track, Matty said that he didn’t know and added that the band No Rome – who are signed to Dirty Hit – and his bandmate George Daniel worked on the song.
He replied, “Not sure yet but me and Rome and George produced.”
Charli also confirmed a collaboration was in the works.
She said in an interview, “We sent some ideas back and forth, and I’m such a fan of (Matty) and the band. They just get it, and they don’t get it at the same time, which I think is the best way to make music. And I think he’s such a smart lyricist, it’s just very smart and also fun, and I feel like they really love pop music.”
“And I love that, and I’m so inspired by that energy and that uniqueness. So yeah, I don’t know what’s going on. But I really admire their song writing, so hopefully something will come of it.”

Tyler Hubbard: Florida Georgia Line Are Still Very Much Together Despite Exploring Solo Projects

    WENN

Tyler has once again denied rumors suggesting he and Brian Kelley quit their band due to the opposing political views, insisting they are a ‘package deal.’

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tyler Hubbard has once again slammed rumours he and Florida Georgia Line bandmate Brian Kelley are splitting up, insisting they are a “package deal.”
Reports of trouble within the group began after Democrat Hubbard unfollowed Republican Brian Kelley for a few days around the U.S. presidential election last year (20), which were furthered as the duo pulled out of an appearance at the Country Music Academy Awards due to a COVID-related health scare.
The two stories combined to prompt fans and critics alike to suggest FGL were done, but both Hubbard and Kelley have denied that – instead revealing they are planning to use 2021 as the year they’ll explore solo projects.

      See also…

And, in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hubbard insisted he’s still on the best of terms with Kelley – and doesn’t foresee a band break-up anytime soon.
“We’ve stayed in really good communication about it (solo projects) and we both feel a lot of freedom, a lot of creative juices flowing, a lot of inspiration, and so it’s fun,” he said. “We’ve always been a package deal, we’ve always done every single thing together, so it really does feel good to say, ‘BK, go make your solo project and go have fun with it, and I’ll go write songs and see what collaborations happen and we’ll just have our own voice and make our own mark for a little while,’ and then in the meantime, still releasing our fifth album in February, and, you know, continuing the tour.”
“So, you know, we’re still gonna be doing a lot together and playing for the fans and singing the hits, but it’s been fun to venture out and have a little bit of individuality as we go.”

Victoria Beckham Realized Music Wasn't Really Her Passion After Watching Elton John Perform

    WENN

The singer-turned-fashion designer talks about her departure from the Spice Girls and explains why she declined to reunite with her all-female bandmates.

    Jan 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Victoria Beckham was inspired to “step away” from the Spice Girls by Sir Elton John.
The mother-of-four shot to fame as a member of the girl group and though she stayed with them throughout their chart career, their 2007 reunion, and 2012 appearance at the London Olympics, she declined to join in with their later plans – including a 2016 reunion, which was axed after Geri Horner fell pregnant, and a 2019 concert tour. And writing a letter to her future self in Britain’s Vogue magazine, Victoria admitted it was seeing her “dear friend” perform that made her realise she’d never be passionate about music.
“Remember years ago, watching your dear friend Elton John on stage in Las Vegas,” she wrote. “He performed Tiny Dancer, as if it were the first time, and you realised this was like oxygen for him. It was a life-changing moment – while singing and dancing was fun for you, it wasn’t your passion.”

      See also…

“That day, you started your quest to uncover your own dreams. It was time to step away from being a Spice Girl. For the first time, you were venturing out on your own, and it was terrifying. It was scary to close a chapter that defined you.”
After launching her own fashion empire and diversifying into beauty, Victoria hinted she also has other projects in the pipeline and will continue to ignore her critics.
She continued in her letter, “I know you are still reinventing yourself, taking on new challenges, and ignoring the naysayers. You always look beyond the conventional wisdom to pave your own path.”
“First, you found this passion in fashion, and most recently, beauty. What comes next? I’m dying to know.”
