Perrie Edwards Under Fire After Leaking Chart Position of 'Sweet Melody'

    Instagram

Not long after the Little Mix member accidentally leaks the song’s rank on her since-deleted snap, Official Charts finally confirms the chart-topper on its Instagram account.

    Jan 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – Little Mix star Perrie Edwards is in hot water with U.K. pop chart compilers after announcing the band’s new song, “Sweet Melody”, was number one before the latest countdown was released on Friday, January 08.
The pop star took to Instagram to share video of her flower gift from boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain alongside the caption “No 1 babyyy”, while the song played in the background.
Perrie quickly removed the post, but not before fans around the world spotted it and commented, with one writing: “DID PERRIE JUST CONFIRM SWEET MELODY IS NUMBER ONE BEFORE THE CHARTS EVEN ANNOUNCED IT?” and another adding: “perrie managing to leak the chart position is such a perrie move.”
The hit is the band’s first number one since Jesy Nelson announced she was leaving the group for mental health reasons last month (Dec20).
Perrie, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall took to social media to share a brief clip of themselves welcoming in the New Year as a trio, adding the caption: “We can’t wait to see you all again very soon. Ps Sweet Melody is the perfect song for the top of your New Year playlists.”

Little Mix promoted ‘Sweet Melody’ while welcoming New Year.

The track – the group’s fifth U.K. number one – was first released three months ago but the group’s fans, known as Mixers, rushed to get the song to the number one spot to honour Nelson.
Officially confirming the chart-topper, Thirlwall told BBC Radio 1, “It’s the last single we did as a four with Jesy, and it’s even more special that now, going into 2021 as a three, we’ve got the first number one (sic).”
Perrie added: “I just want to squish every single fan who managed to get it to number one.”

Ed Sheeran’s “Afterglow” comes in at two on the new countdown, while Taylor Swift’s “Evermore” has beaten her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles’ “Fine Line” to the top of the U.K. albums chart.

Keyshia Cole Rolls Her Eyes After Her 'Verzuz' Battle With Ashanti Is Delayed Again

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza/Avalon

After being delayed because of Ashanti’s COVID-19 diagnosis last December, the song battle between the ‘Love’ hitmaker and the ‘Foolish’ singer is being pushed back due to relocation.

    Jan 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – Keyshia Cole is just too eager to hop on “Verzuz” against Ashanti. So, when the song battle is delayed again as it will be moved to separate locations, the “Love” hitmaker didn’t seem to be happy.
“This has been an emotional week. In addition, as COVID-19 numbers continue to increase, safety is a top priority for us,” the show, which hails from Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, announced on Instagram on Friday, January 8. “As much as we enjoy having everyone together in the same room, to protect the artists and everyone who works with us in putting the shows together, we’ll be going back to separate locations for a bit.”
Concluding the announcement, the statement continued, “We’re excited for the next few events, and look forward to getting back to the show in the coming weeks,” noting that the upcoming battle will be between Ashanti and Keyshia.

Making public her feelings, Keyshia took to the comment section to leave a side-eyeing emoji. Fans rallied behind her as one wrote, “literally been saying stop playing with keyshia!!” Alluding that the numerous delays were because Ashanti was scared to go against Keyshia, a fan insisted, “Cause at this point she SCARED baby ! We know.”
“I know you was ready! So somebody scared *crosses arms* lol,” another fan similarly commented. Meanwhile, someone suggested Keyshia to just drop “Verzuz” altogether. “just go live and do some songs tomorrow to hell with verseuz,” the person said.
Keyshia and Ashanti were initially set to go head-to-head on December 12, 2020. Fans, however, were forced to wait a little longer as it was pushed back due to Ashanti’s COVID-19 diagnosis. “Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the “Foolish” singer told fans. “I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house… we’re tring (sic) to figure it all out!!!”
Minutes later, “Verzuz” confirmed the delay in a statement which read, “Unfortunately, we have to postpone tonight’s @Ashanti vs @KeyshiaCole #VERZUZ. Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand, and we cannot put anyone at risk in the process. First time this has struck us so close to showtime.” The statement continued, “We apologize to our incredible audience! Get well soon, Ashanti. Wear a mask, stay inside, and take COVID-19 seriously. It’s truly affecting our community.”
Ashanti then revealed on New Year’s Day that she was finally in the clear after having to be in self-quarantine for the holidays. “Starting off the new year Amazing and Covid free!!! Got my negative results back 2 days ago,” she wrote on her social media account. “Feeling grateful. My parents and I got our negative results back right in time to start off the New Year healthy, happy & loved.”

Taylor Swift Puts End to Karlie Kloss Feud Speculation With Revelation About New 'Evermore' Songs

    WENN/Instar/Avalon

A number of fans have been wondering if the ‘Cardigan’ singer is throwing shade at her supermodel friend in ‘Right Where You Left Me’ and ‘It’s Time to Go’, the two bonus tracks off her deluxe album.

    Jan 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift has made sure her fans know that her new “Evermore” songs have nothing to do with Karlie Kloss. Having been speculated to throw shade at her supermodel friend in “Right Where You Left Me” and “It’s Time to Go”, the “Cardigan” singer was quick to shut down the rumors by revealing the meaning behind the tracks.
The 31-year-old set the record straight via Instagram on Friday, January 8. “the evermore deluxe album with 2 bonus tracks ‘right where you left me’ and ‘it’s time to go’ is now available! The first is a song about a girl who stayed forever in the exact spot where her heart was broken, completely frozen in time,” she clarified. ” ‘it’s time to go’ is about listening to your gut when it tells you to leave. How you always know before you know, you know?”

      See also…

Taylor dropped “Right Where You Left Me” and “It’s Time to Go” on Thursday, January 7. Since then, her fans on Twitter were convinced that the latter was aimed at Karlie after listening to the lyrics which read, “When the words of a sister come back in whispers/ That prove she was not, in fact, what she seemed/ Not a twin from your dreams/ She’s a crook who was caught.”
One speculated, “Wait…did Taylor Swift diss former ‘best friend forever’ Karlie Kloss on ‘it’s time to go’ ?” Another chimed in, “taylor swift warned you that there’s nothing she does better than revenge so it really should come as no surprise how beautifully she drags both karlie, scott and scooter in the bonus tracks.” A third additionally tweeted, “i know there’s a lot going on but taylor swift released a song calling karlie kloss ‘a crook who was caught.’ ”
While Taylor did not offer more details about her friendship with Karlie, the two have been rumored to be embroiled in a feud multiple times. Speculations first arose when the “Willow” songstress did not include the model in her music video for “Look What You Made Me Do”. She also did not attend the model’s wedding to businessman Joshua Kushner.
Although Karlie denied the beef speculations in March 2019, the rumors refused to die down. They resurfaced in June the same year after Taylor was once again absent from the former Victoria’s Secret Angel’s second wedding celebration. Among the guests were Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and the Grammy-winning artist’s music rival Scooter Braun.

Ariel Pink Dropped by Label After Defending Pro-Trump Rally Attendance

    Instagram

Mexican Summer announces that it has ‘decided to end [its] working relationship’ with the indie rocker though he denied he was with the crowd who stormed the Capitol Hill.

    Jan 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – Ariel Pink’s political stance has cost him his record deal. The Donald Trump supporter has been dropped by his record label Mexican Summer, following his attendance at a pro-Trump White House rally on Wednesday, January 6.
Mexican Summer announced the decision on Friday through its social media accounts. “Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and its staff have decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg AKA Ariel Pink moving forward,” it said in a statement posted on Instagram and Twitter.

Mexican Summer was set to release Ariel’s compilation albums “Odditties Sodomies Vol. 1”, “Sit n’ Spin”, “Odditties Sodomies Vol. 3” and “Scared Famous/FF > >” on January 29 as the final installments of its “Ariel Archives” series. The label has not addressed the future of the releases, which fans of the artist have been looking forward to.

“what will happen with the rest of the Ariel Archives? I was really looking forward to the Scared Famous reissue,” one fan asked. A disappointed fan commented on the label’s decision, “this accomplishes nothing at all and just ruins the fun for the people who wanted to get the releases.”
Another protested, “Why? Because he is part of 49.5% of Americans? I’m not a trump supporter, but this is f**king ludacris. Give me my money back.” A fourth user echoed the sentiment, “Lol really? xddd He didn’t even enter the Capitol he was protesting peacefully. Come on don’t let politics take over art even more.”
Some others, however, supported the label’s decision for cutting ties with Ariel. “Thank you! Will be burning all my Ariel Pink records tomorrow,” one person denounced the artist. Another simply added, “Good ! Thank you.”
Ariel previously defended his attendance at the pro-Trump rally that eventually gave way to the violent siege of the Capitol. He admitted that he was “in dc to peacefully show my support for the president,” but denied that he was part of the mob that stormed the Capitol, claiming, “i attended the rally on the white house lawn and went back to hotel and took a nap. case closed.”
Pressed on whether it was irresponsible to attend the protest during the pandemic, he argued, “All the people at these events deserve whats coming to them. they took the risk knowing full well what might happen. BLM protests over the past 6 months are not informed about the pandemic?”

Lars Ulrich Promises Best Ever Metallica Album for Next Studio Installment

    Instagram

The next studio album by James Hetfield and his bandmates is described as ‘the heaviest’ and ‘the coolest’ album that the rock band will have ever made.

    Jan 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – Metallica always want to make the “best record” they’ve ever produced.
The heavy metal group – who formed in 1981 – can’t imagine ever giving up making music because they love the “creative process” and always strive to make each new album better than the last.
Asked if they’ve thought about their plans for their next album yet, drummer Lars Ulrich told Classic Rock magazine, “It’s going to be the best album we’ve ever done! Insert the rest of the cliches – it’s the heaviest thing, the coolest…”
“But all kidding aside, if it wasn’t because we thought that the best record was still ahead of us, then why keep doing it? In Metallica we love the creative process, and it’s hard for me to imagine that we’ll ever stop making records.”

      See also…

The drummer insisted the group – which also includes James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo – never compare their albums to their previous efforts, and he wouldn’t want to change anything about their back catalogue because each record represents a period in time for the band.
“I don’t think like that at all. Each record to me is a picture of a time period. 1988, …And Justice for All, that was what we did and we made all those choices, and I’m happy accepting it,” he said. “Sometimes I think why did we do that and what were we thinking, without necessarily wanting to change it.”
“But of the ones that we’ve done, it’s with Hardwired that I have the fewest bewildered questions about the choices we made.”
With the coronavirus pandemic keeping the band off the road, Lars has kept his skills sharp by playing along to their most recent studio album, 2016’s “Hardwired… To Self Destruct”, as well as Rage Against the Machine’s self-titled 1992 LP.
“Another record I’ve played along to is Rage Against the Machine, that first album (’92),” he added. “That has been the soundtrack to this pandemic for me. I’m just blasting those songs, and they sound more relevant and more contemporary than they ever have.”

The Weeknd Is Not Included in 2021 Grammys Performers Line-Up After Snub

    Instagram

The Canadian hitmaker previously criticized the Recording Academy after he nabbed zero nod at the upcoming event despite his record-breaking and critically-acclaimed album ‘After Hours’.

    Jan 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – The tension between The Weeknd and the Recording Academy seemingly continues to heat up. According to interim Grammy chief Harvey Mason Jr., the “After Hours” artist has yet to be asked to be included in the line-up of the performers at the award-giving event, which is set to be held on March 14.
In an interview with Variety, Harvey was asked if The Weeknd, who was snubbed at the award event despite his successful “Blinding Lights” track, would be more involved at the upcoming event. To that, Harvey responded, “Not that I’m aware of.”
During the interview, Harvey also addressed the delay due to rising coronavirus cases in the United States, especially in Los Angeles. “Doing it on January 31st, with the numbers and what was happening in L.A., just didn’t feel like the right move,” he explained.
“We felt, from what we’re hearing from government offices and health-care experts, that the next two weeks are going to be extreme here in L.A., and after that, we’ll see some improvement in the numbers. Obviously, we’re not going to be free of Covid and I don’t think the vaccine is going to be widely available by March 14, but we think there will be better circumstances once we get past these next two weeks,” he went on saying.

Grammy Awards announced on Tuesday, January 5 that the show, which will be hosted by Trevor Noah, will be pushed back. “The deteriorating COVID situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services being overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do,” read a statement signed by interim Grammy chief Harvey Mason jr., CBS Executive VP Jack Sussman and the show’s executive producer, Ben Winston.
Back to The Weeknd, the Canadian hitmaker criticized the Recording Academy after he nabbed zero nod despite his record-breaking year on the charts and critical and commercial acclaim with the album “After Hours” and hits like “Blinding Lights”. “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…,” he demanded on November 24, 2020 after the nominations were announced.
In response to the criticism, Harvey said in a statement, “We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated. I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration.”
Shutting down speculations that the snub had something to do with The Weeknd headlining the Super Bowl, Harvey clarified, “To be clear, voting in all categories ended well before The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl was announced, so in no way could it have affected the nomination process.”
