    Although he cannot play any instrument and really does not know what he was doing, the former R.E.M. frontman insists on writing his 18 pieces of music himself for the first time.

    AceShowbiz – Rocker Michael Stipe is really challenging himself for his upcoming solo album by insisting on writing all of the music himself for the first time – even though he “can’t play an instrument”.
    The former R.E.M. frontman previously relied on his bandmates to add the melodies and soundscapes to his lyrics, but he doesn’t want to lean on other musicians for his solo endeavour, so he’s tackling the whole process from scratch.
    He told Uncut magazine: “What I have at the moment are 18 pieces of music that I’m working on. Some of them are much more complete than others – some have lyrics, others don’t.”
    “I threw a bunch of barricades in my path by deciding to challenge myself with a lot of this music. I’ve never written music before, which means I’m coming from a completely different vantage point than I ever did with R.E.M.”

    “I’m writing for things that I’ve never had any experience with whatsoever. But that’s where I get excited.”
    “I can’t play an instrument, so that makes composing for me that much more thrilling, because I really don’t know what I’m doing and I’m not afraid of stupid sounds. So banging around on synthesisers is, for me, an easy way to create.”
    And the “Losing My Religion” hitmaker isn’t concerned about what others will think of his music.
    He said: “I want something that’s gonna make me feel like I’m really living in the moment. At the age of 60, I don’t really want to do things that are easy. I can do whatever the f**k I want, in essence. I’m at that point in my life where I don’t really have to please anyone but myself.”

    AceShowbiz – Did Asian Doll end her friendship with Megan Thee Stallion? The female rapper also known as Asian Da Brat was seemingly hurt as she wrote a now-deleted tweet, “Friendship ended NEXT!” after revealing that Megan replaced her with JT of City Girls.
    The drama started when Asian played for her online followers her unreleased verse on “Do It on the Tip”, a song off Megan’s debut album that features the City Girls. As Megan was called out for ditching Asian, the “Unfuccwitable” star was quick to set the record straight. “Me & Megan still friends idgaf about no song I did in my sleep,” she wrote.
    But in a follow-up tweet, she admitted that, while she was cool with the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker, she was indeed upset at first. She confessed, “I was (mad) but ima Sagittarius we get mad then 10mins later WE DON’T GIVE A F**K BOUT NUNNADET SH*T. (sic)”
    While Megan kept mum, JT posted a series of cryptic messages that fans believed to be a response to Asian Doll’s tweets. “A real friend is something you bi***es really don’t know nothing about!” she penned. “I been doing good but ima bout to start laying y’all attention h**s out & I’m coming with FACTS!!!!! Sympathetic a** h**s are really starting to grind on my gears! FR!”
    JT added, “Like if you know it’s gone draw attention & cause commotion … why speak on it? Mind you lying! But GO OFF!”

    While JT didn’t drop any names, Asian directly mention JT in her next tweet, insisting to keep a positive attitude as fans brought JT’s remarks to her attention. “If JT ain’t say my name then she wasn’t talking to me,” she tweeted before seemingly scolding fans for trying to pit her against the City Girls member, “Stop being messy cause what I said was between me & Megan!”
    Asian went on, “This whole song getting out of hand! My intentions wasn’t bad when I played it I DON’T WANNA BE ON THE DELUXE I Don’t Wanna Put It Out I played it because ITS NEVER coming out! I don’t need to be a pick me b***h cause at the end of the day I’m having my way with this sh*t.”
    “I was called & asked to do the song,” she explained why she sent her verse to Meg. “Some told me don’t do it anyways so I didn’t. Weeks later I was reminded to do it, so I DID It.”

    Asian, who previously defended Megan against Tory Lanez, then seemingly called out Megan for being silent. “A lot of sh*t I don’t even deserve,” she wrote. “God knows my intentions but these b***es don’t make it no better. How you don’t defend a b***h that RUN to defend you [laughing crying emojis].”

    AceShowbiz – Carrie Underwood’s five-year-old son is “so proud” he’s part of her first ever Christmas album, he’s playing the sweet song to all his school pals.
    Isaiah, the singer’s boy with husband Mike Fisher, contributes guest vocals on “Little Drummer Boy”, and he couldn’t be more excited to be part of mum’s festive collection, titled “The Gift”.
    “I had no idea what was going to happen (in the studio),” the “American Idol” winner told Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show of her kid’s big performance.
    “He’s never been in that kind of situation before. I don’t think he’s even been like, in the studio with me ever before.”

    In fact, the “Love Wins” hitmaker isn’t even sure Isaiah knows what his mother does for a living.
    “I don’t know if he knows what I do at all,” she laughed, “but I could hear his voice on it (track) in my head when I was singing it in the studio and I just thought, ‘Ask him and see if he might want to (sing on it).’ ”
    And she needn’t have worried if Isaiah would rise to the occasion because the star rated her child’s performance as “great.”
    “He did such a great job,” she added, “and… he’s so proud of himself, he went to school and he said, ‘Hey, my song’s out. Wanna hear my song?’ And they were listening to it in his class.”
    The album debuted at No. 8 on Billboard Hot 200 and hit the pinnacle on the Billboard Top Country Albums, marking Carrie’s eighth consecutive No. 1 album on the Country chart. It also reigned the Top Christian Albums and Top Holiday Albums.

    “American Idol” judge Katy dropped her latest LP, “Smile”, earlier this year (20).
    It’s a collection of songs that offered a glimpse into her personal journey to rediscover herself. “It’s been two-and-a-half years of trying to find my footing. It’s so easy for me to work, work, work and avoid, but I had to go on a mental and spiritual journey,” she said in an interview.
    The singer took a break after the album release as she gave birth to her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom.
    She has since been back to work, but she admitted it was hard to leave baby Daisy home. “It’s amazing. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and for this job, and to be able to continue to inspire other people to go after their dreams,” she said. “I mean, my life just feels very full and whole. And you know, it’s hard a little bit these first couple of days away and not being able to be there.”

    The punk rock veterans have dropped the emotional track, “Last December”, to mark the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.
    Benji Madden – who is joined by his twin Joel Madden, Paul Thomas, Billy Martin, and Dean Butterworth in the “I Just Wanna Live” group – says the song channels both the “joy and melancholy” of the holiday season.

    AceShowbiz – Maren Morris has pulled the plug on her planned RSVP Tour amid the pandemic.
    The “Girl” hitmaker had already postponed the jaunt due to coronavirus crisis and, in a statement on Friday (18Dec20), she confirmed the tour has been cancelled altogether due to the uncertainty over when music venues will be allowed to re-open again.
    “Hi Darlings,” wrote the 30-year-old. “There is so much hope with this vaccine being distributed in 2021, but we are still unsure of when we will be able to do the tour next year.”
    “With the prospect of, yet again, rescheduling half of the dates already becoming a reality, I have decided to cancel the RSVP tour,” the singer explained, before adding that customers with tickets will receive “a full refund from the point of purchase.”

    However, it’s not all bad news for fans – the “My Church” singer went on to thank her followers for their “patience” and revealed that she filled up some of her recent downtime by writing new songs.
    “I am in the midst of working on my third record, so I hope we all can come together and enjoy live shows safely again soon,” she revealed, adding, “Love you so much, M.”
    Maren Morris released her sophomore set in 2019.
    This year, she received numerous accolades including Female Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Favorite Female Country Artist at the American Music Awards, Top Female Country Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, and Song of the Year, Single of the Year, & Female Vocalist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.

    AceShowbiz – Superstar DJ David Guetta is kicking off 2021 with a big charity concert broadcast from a secret location in Paris, France.
    The “Titanium” hitmaker will stage his latest United at Home series on 31 December for UNICEF and Les Restos du Coeur, a local charity distributing food to those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
    The Frenchman’s gig will be filmed by officials at the Amsterdam, Holland-based Insight TV, and made available on all of the network’s global platforms at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
    “With most of the world experiencing the holidays while not being able to celebrate with friends and family, Insight TV wanted to give our viewers a reason to dance right in their own homes,” Insight TV executive Arun Maljaars told Variety.

    “It will be (a) spectacular feast for the eyes and ears as David Guetta performs an electrifying set accompanied by the biggest light show the world has ever seen,” it’s claimed.
    Guetta launched the United at Home concert series early on in the COVID shutdown, performing in undisclosed outdoor locations in Miami, Florida and New York. The events have so far raised $1.5 million (£1.1 million) for a variety of good causes, including the World Health Organization and Feeding America.
    It’s not the only gig Guetta has lined up for New Year’s Eve – he will also be performing a virtual set for Tomorrowland’s end-of-year bash.

    AceShowbiz – Lil Wayne isn’t done taking the heat after coming under fire earlier this year for his public support to Donald Trump. No longer talking about politics, the rapper is now catching flak after it’s reported that he sold Drake and Nicki Minaj’s masters.
    Weezy reportedly sold Young Money’s masters to Universal Music Group for $100 million this summer. In his former manager Ronald E. Sweeney’s multi-million dollar lawsuit against the Young Money CEO filed in California’s Superior Court on December 10, it’s revealed that the rights to some of Drake and Nicki’s records were among those included in the $100M deal last June.
    According to Music Business Worldwide, the deal was for Young Money’s entire catalog of masters including Drake and Nicki. In addition to Wayne’s own catalog, the deal reportedly includes Drake’s hit albums such as “Take Care”, “Nothing Was the Same” and “Views”, up until 2018’s “Scorpion”, his last project under Young Money/Cash Money.

    As part of the acquisition, UMG reportedly now also owns the rights to Nicki’s albums “Pink Friday”, “The Pinkprint” and “Queen”, as well as her most recent single “Yikes”, which were released under Young Money/Cash Money. Another report, however, claims that the deal likely only includes collaborative joints between Wayne and these artists on Young Money, not their individual catalogs.
    After news of the sale Drake and Nicki’s catalogs surfaced, many were pissed at Wayne. “F**king with Trump got Lil Wayne selling Drake and Nicki’s masters,” one person alleged of what led to the “Lollipop” hitmaker made such deal. Another slammed him, “Wayne couldn’t release his own music for years but we’re expected to believe he had full control and ownership of Drake and Nicki’s masters? Give me a f**king break.”
    A third person wondered, “Why Wayne aint give Nicki and Drake a chance to buy they own masters.” Someone else listed a number of “HORRENDOUS” things that Weezy has done so far, including “endorsed Trump,” “left by girlfriend,” “plead guilty to a federal gun charge,” “caught with heroin on him,” “sold his masters” and “sued for $20 million by manager.”
