Ohio Club Shut Down by Officials for Violating Covid-19 Guidelines at Trey Songz Show

    WENN

A nightclub in Ohio has received a restraining order from the Department of Public Safety following complaints after a jam-packed indoor show featuring Trey Songz.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Columbus, Ohio authorities have shut down a nightclub after R&B singer Trey Songz staged a show for more than 500 people there over the weekend.
Plain clothed officials from the state’s Department of Public Safety reported hundreds of unmasked fans inside the Aftermath club, ignoring social distancing guidelines on Saturday night (05Dec20).
“Agents arrived at 9.30pm and observed egregious violations of health orders as approximately 500 people inside attended a concert,” a statement obtained by CNN reads. “The dance floor and stage area, as well as the bar and table sections were crowded with patrons. Patrons were congregated throughout the premises with no attempts to maintain social distancing and no physical barriers in place.”
“Agents observed patrons standing, walking freely and sharing alcoholic beverages directly from the same bottle as they were passed between groups. No social distancing or physical barriers were in place. Most of the crowd and the employees were not wearing facial coverings.”

Footage from the concert, posted online, appears to support the complaint, and now Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein has confirmed the club has been closed and a restraining order has been imposed.
A hearing on the case is expected on 17 December (20).
“Last weekend’s indoor concert at Aftermath was in blatant disregard of COVID-19 health orders and social distancing best practices,” Klein said in a statement. “We are in the middle of a surge in coronavirus infections, yet the owners of Aftermath planned to continue hosting large-scale events at their venue, including this upcoming weekend. In the interest of community health, we secured an immediate shutdown of this property.”
Ironically, Trey Songz tested positive for COVID-19 back in October (20) and insisted he was taking the pandemic very seriously.
He has yet to comment on the club gig or news of the venue’s closure.

Doja Cat Apologizes for Stealing Plini's Song at MTV EMAs, Blames Musical Director for Gaffe

    Instagram

The ‘Say So’ hitmaker has reached out to Australian guitarist Plini after ripping off his song for her performance at the MTV European Music Awards this year.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat sent a string of voice messages to Australian guitarist Plini to apologise after using a snippet of his song in her recent performance at the MTV European Music Awards.
The singer performed her hit “Say So” at the awards ceremony, with viewers quick to point out that she’d used part of Plini’s 2016 tune “Handmade Cities”.
Plini, full name Plini Roessler-Holgate, then issued a statement, writing that “The lack of prior communication about it or proper credit upon release is disappointing but not particularly surprising in a sector of the industry that is usually more interested in clout than creativity (it’s being sorted now, but would have been cooler a million views ago).”
In an interview with MusicRadar, Plini went on to reveal that Doja herself had later been in touch with him to apologise for the misunderstanding.

“I made a comment on Twitter, not really accusing anyone of anything but just because I thought it was funny… and then it turned into this whole thing. I suppose the fans really did all the work, they had all the outrage on my behalf. I was just sitting back wondering what the f**k was happening and finding it hilarious,” he said.
Apparently, the musical director of Doja’s MTV EMA performance had been inspired by Plini’s tune, but the singer herself was unaware of the issue until Plini’s post on Twitter.
“The best part of all this is that I woke up one day with a string of voice messages from her in my DMs, saying sorry and that she wished she’d known about all of this and wished they could have credited me properly, and also praising my song and thanking me for being nice about it,” he concluded.
“I thought about that and realised it was the number one strangest thing that’s happened to me in my career. One of the biggest pop stars is messaging me an apology because someone kinda ripped my music for her live performance. Life is so f**king weird. As far as I’m concerned it’s a great story.”

Stereophonics' Kelly Jones Reveals Why He Was Hesitant in Going Public About Throat Surgery

The rock band’s frontman and guitarist additionally admits he was ‘trying too hard to prove’ that he was fine although he was never worried that his voice would return after the surgery.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Stereophonics star Kelly Jones only went public with his throat surgery when the band’s concert film director overheard a chat with a friend.
The singer was keen to never talk about the procedure to save his voice, and thought he could complete the group’s tour and documentary without it coming up.
“I didn’t want it to put additional pressure on the tour, or on the Stereophonics album, ‘Kind’, that we made once my voice returned,” Kelly explains. “I hadn’t intended putting the surgery in the documentary, to be honest.”

      See also…

“The director, Ben Lowe, wanted to film the tour before knowing I’d had the operation… Then Ben overheard someone ask me, ‘What are you going to do about the footage of your throat surgery?'”
“Ben said, ‘Er, don’t you think we should include that…?’ I’d have been happy if people never knew I’d had surgery, but I could trust Ben that he’d sensitively show what happened.”
Jones tells NME.com he was never worried that his voice would return after the surgery, but confesses he pushed a little too hard to get back onstage: “I was told before surgery that there was a good chance that I’d recover. From that point, it became mostly psychological. I felt like a dancer who’d broken their ankle – once you know you can recover, it’s whether you’ve got the confidence to do what it takes to get back into it.”
“I was guilty of rushing back, trying too hard to prove I was fine. I was trying to sing ‘A Thousand Trees’ with my voice coach at 9am, and I hadn’t sung ‘A Thousand Trees’ at 9am since I was 21. I was fortunate the polyp wasn’t bad enough for me to seriously think, ‘What am I going to do if I can’t sing again?’ But it did make me think about what else I can do as a singer.”

Gwen Stefani Pays Tribute to 'Hollaback Girl' as She Reintroduces Herself With Comeback Song

    Instagram

The ‘Sweet Escape’ singer is back to her ska and reggae roots as she releases ‘Let Me Reintroduce Myself’, her first music in four years since ‘This Is What The Truth Feels Like’.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gwen Stefani has released her first new music in four years.
The singer has returned to her ska and reggae roots in homage to her time as the frontwoman of No Doubt and freshened things up a bit on her new single, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself”.
In a nod to her 2004 hit “Hollaback Girl”, she sings, “And it tastes great, I already gave you bananas.”
    [embedded content]
In a press release, Gwen said of the track, “This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, light-hearted song, because I got inspired and hopefully to bring a little bit of joy. The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.”

Gwen’s last full-length release was 2017’s festive LP, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas”.
But the new song marks her first non-Christmassy record since 2016’s “This Is What The Truth Feels Like”.
And although she never intended to make a comeback, the “Sweet Escape” singer – who is engaged to country star Blake Shelton – has penned around “20 songs.”
“I fantasised about it but I was also like … I don’t know,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “I always think about artists that I loved growing up, and I think I just want to listen to the songs that I like that they did. And that’s nostalgic for me.”
“I never expected to be writing, but it was in there. And it’s been really, really incredible. I mean, there’s just nothing else that I do in my life, and I have done so many things, that makes me feel ignited the way a new song makes me feel.”

Cardi B Set to Face Jury Trial for Putting Man's Tattoo on Album Cover

    Instagram

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker is being taken to court by a man for using a tattoo, that resembles a design he has, on the provocative cover of her mixtape.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cardi B will face a jury next year (21) in a trial over claims she used a man’s distinctive tattoo on the cover of her debut album.
Kevin Brophy, Jr. has claimed the man orally pleasuring the rap star in the photo on the front of her “Gangsta B**ch Music Vol. 1” mixtape has skin art on his back of a tiger battling a snake that resembles a design he has, and is demanding $5 million (£4 million) in damages for the violation of his right of publicity.
While Cardi hit back and asked for a dismissal of the case in August (20), U.S. District Court Judge Cormac Carney rejected her motion. The case went to federal court on Friday (04Dec20), with Cardi arguing the cover image is transformative fair use of Brophy’s likeness.
However, Judge Carney disagreed, stating, “To constitute a transformative fair use, the revised image must have significant transformative or creative elements to make it something more than mere likeness or imitation. A reasonable jury in this case could conclude that there are insufficient transformative or creative elements on the GBMV1 cover to constitute a transformative use of Plaintiff’s tattoo.”

      See also…

“Most significantly, defining elements including the tiger and snake remain virtually unchanged. Under these circumstances, a jury will have to decide the merits of Defendants’ defense.”
Judge Carney also nixed Brophy’s expert on how much damages he should receive after he had turned to proposed expert Douglas Bania to work out how much money was related to the use of the image for “Gangsta B**ch Music Vol. 1”.
“Put another way, Bania’s theory means that if Defendants had not used Plaintiff’s tattoo on the GBMV1 cover, Cardi B would have made no money on the album – at least on the streaming services where the tattoo appears. There is absolutely no basis for this conclusion, and the Court in its role as gatekeeper will not allow a jury to rely on it,” Judge Carney said.
Punitive damages are still on the table, however, with the trial headed in front of a jury next year.

Bryce Hall Feuding With Lil Yachty as He Turns Down Offer to Appear on MV With Addison Rae

    Instagram

The feud between Bryce and the 23-year-old rapper starts after the latter taunts the TikTok star with a new song featuring explicit lyrics about Bryce’s girlfriend Addison.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bryce Hall and Lil Yachty are involved in a heated feud on Twitter. The TikTok star and the “Oprah’s Bank Account” rapper started throwing shades at each other on the blue bird app after the latter taunted Bryce with a new song in which he rapped about Bryce’s girlfriend Addison Rae. Now, the feud escalated even further after Bryce revealed that the rapper’s team apparently wanted him and Addison to be on “E-ER” music video.
Bryce posted screenshot of a DM from someone who seemed to be in the rapper’s team. “Yo, would you and addison be down to be in the music video for the e-er song yachty. Lmk what you guys would want,” the person wrote to Bryce, before convincing that it “would be some funny s**t.”
However, Bryce seemingly didn’t want to have anything to do with the rapper and his answer was definite. “F**K no LMAO,” he simply replied. Sharing the picture on Twitter, he tagged Yachty, who quickly responded, “Listen kid… I wouldn’t have you in my video if my life depended on it. Not my song.”
Yachty then addressed his controversial lyrics on DJ Scheme’s “E-ER”. “ALSO I did this verse 4 months ago. relax bro. It’s not that deep,” the 23-year-old spitter fired back. “Go take some shirtless photos or some.”

Bryce Hall and Lil Yachthy were feuding on Twitter.
The feud between Bryce and Yachty started after the latter responded to Bryce’s tweet in which he asked for some song recommendations. Tweeting to the social media personality, he shared a screenshot of the song alongside a caption that read, “At this part specifically actually.”
He referred to the part where he rapped explicitly about Addison. “I want Addison Rae to become my doctor and check on my privates/ Put her in a skirt and a scarf like pilot/ He didn’t make it past the first clip like a polyp,” so he rapped, prompting backlash from online users.

    Bryce fired back at Yachty.
Seemingly unfazed by the sudden diss, Bryce clapped back by replying to Yachty’s tweet with a snap of himself and Addison cuddling up to and embracing one another. “Lol n***a I don’t want yo b***h boy,” Yachty responded.
