Dolly Parton Always Hopes Beyonce Would Cover 'Jolene' Someday

    WENN/Ivan Nikolov

Aside from talking about her dream rendition of her 1974 tune, the country legend claims one of her proudest moments was Whitney Houston’s 1992 take on her song ‘I Will Always Love You’.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dolly Parton wants Beyonce Knowles to cover her hit “Jolene”.
So many artists have re-recorded the country queen’s hits, making her a stash of cash over the years, and the 1974 tune is a favourite, but Dolly dreams of one more big hit with the track.
“Jolene has been recorded more than any other song that I have ever written,” she tells The Big Issue. “It has been recorded worldwide over 400 times in lots of different languages by lots of different bands.”
“The White Stripes did a wonderful job of it, and many other people. But nobody’s ever had a really big hit record on it. I’ve always hoped somebody might do someday, someone like Beyonce.”

Meanwhile, one of Dolly’s proudest moments was the reaction to the late Whitney Houston’s 1992 take on her song “I Will Always Love You”.
“I had a number one with ‘I Will Always Love You’ twice – once in the 70s, then I did it in the movie ‘The Best Little Whorehouse’ in Texas, and had another number one in the 80s. And then Whitney did it and it was considered one of the greatest love songs of all time. Still to this day I take a lot of pride in that.”
The 74-year-old made a joke about her and her marriage to Carl Thomas during her appearance in the Wednesday, December 2 episode of “Table Manners” podcast. “My husband and I have been together for 57 years and married for 54, and I’m sick of him and I’m sure he’s sick of me,” she quipped to English singer Jessie Ware and her mom.
Elsewhere in the chat, the “9 to 5” hitmaker additionally opened up about her weaknesses. When asked about her love for food, she lightheartedly confessed, “My weaknesses have always been men, sex and food and not necessarily in that order.”

Teyana Taylor Blames Label for Her Retirement Announcement

    WENN/DJDM

While many assume that she quit music because of the Grammys snub, the ‘Wake Up Love’ singer explains on Instagram Live that her frustrations stem from being neglected by her record label.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Teyana Taylor has explained her retirement announcement. One day after shocking her fans with her Instagram post that declared she’s quitting from making music, the singer/dancer has taken to Instagram Live to clarify that it had nothing to do with the Grammys snub.
In fact, the 29-year-old star was upset with the way her label G.O.O.D Music/Def Jam has been treating her. In the Saturday, December 5 video, she shared that she feels unappreciated and overlooked by “the people that are supposed to support me most.” According to the R&B artist, her label hasn’t been reciprocating the same level of care that she gives and she has “little to no push.”
Teyana also revealed that she has asked her label to drop her many times to no avail. “The crazy part about it is, I asked Def Jam to drop me on almost 10 different occasions, straight to their face, up in the building, at the table,” she said.
“Like, ‘Yo, just drop me, because, at this point, I can’t let this kill me,’ ” she added of how the frustrations affected her mentally. “Baby, I gotta do it for my mental health. I have to do it for my emotional health. I have to do it for my kids so I can stay alive for my kids.”
Suggesting that her previous statement was a mere boycott rather than a retirement announcement, she declared, “I’m not quitting, I’m leveling up.” She went on lashing out at her label, “I constantly get attacked for all the f**k s**t the label do and, y’all know me, I stay quiet. But, it’s so much I can take.”

“So maybe, if I retire, n***as will let me go. Drop me, fam. Let me be free,” she explained. “I’m tired… Baby, I’ve been doing this since I was 15 years old. I’m about to be 30. And besides performing for my real fans and actually being in a booth, nothing else about music makes me happy. Period.”
Teyana previously aired out her frustrations at being under-appreciated in the industry. “I ain’t gone front in times of feeling super under appreciated as a artist, receiving little to no real push from the ‘machine’, constantly getting the shorter end of the stick, being overlooked, I mean the list (goes) on and on lol (laugh out loud)..,” she posted on Friday, December 4.
She continued, “I’m retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that i can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world (sic)!”

Teyana has since received support from fellow artists, including Cardi B and The Game, who posted a lengthy message to “a very young, talented black girl with the biggest voice I’d ever heard in my life on a cold night in New York City” several years ago.

Artist of the Week: Miley Cyrus

    Instagram

The ‘Midnight Sky’ singer gets revenge on her ex-lovers and she does it with style as she is heading for chart domination with her glam heartache song ‘Prisoner’.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Miley Cyrus took no prisoners as she kissed off her exes in her newest single. While doing so, she’s climbing up the charts and dominating radio airplays. Teaming up with Dua Lipa, she served up an infection dance anthem fittingly titled “Prisoner” that sampled Olivia Newton-John’s all-time classic “Physical”.
“In loving memory of all my exes, eat s**t,” so the former Disney Darling told her former lovers in a bold message in her music video. The song itself chronicled a toxic relationship, something that many people could easily relate to. She blasted an unnamed ex for being manipulative and making her feel like a hostage.
The song was among new favorites in various countries across the globe. She made the highest new entry on U.K. Singles Chart, bowing at No. 8 while entering the Top 40 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart. She additionally reached Top 20 both on the ARIA singles chart and on the U.S. Rolling Stone Top 100.

Besides addressing her love life, the “Hannah Montana” alum talked about growing up under the spotlight in another new song called “Angels Like You”. She opened up about how traumatized she felt by the constant media scrutiny she had to endure since she was young.
“I had some guilt or shame with that song in the way that it’s written, but now that I listen to it, it is actually apologetic,” she told Rolling Stone. “It is saying, ‘It’s not your fault I ruin everything, and it’s not your fault that I can’t be what you need.’ My independence and, I guess, my survivalist instincts make it where I can seem selfish.”
Those tracks are taken from Miley’s seventh studio album called “Plastic Hearts”. The new album, led by hit single “Midnight Sky” which went on to become one of 2020’s Songs of Summer, features guest vocals from such icons as Joan Jett, Billy Idol, and Stevie Nicks. It’s released in late November, three years after her last set.
The album is expected to make a high debut on Billboard Hot 200 if her chart history is any indication. She topped the charts with her three previous efforts: 2007’s “Meet Miley Cyrus”, 2008’s “Breakout”, and 2013’s “Bangerz”. She also reached top 3 with 2010’s “Can’t Be Tamed” and top 5 with 2017’s “Younger Now”.
