Pusha T Fears This Would Happen During His 2011 Coachella Performance With Kanye West

    WENN

A decade ago, the ‘Mercy’ rapper took on the stage that resembles the Altar of Zeus at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany when his rapper collaborator headlined the festival.

    Apr 20, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rapper Pusha T was worried about a massive stone mural crushing him to death as he joined Kanye West onstage for his headlining performance at the 2011 Coachella festival.

Kanye had insisted on having the giant piece of art, resembling the Altar of Zeus at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany, hang high above the stage as part of his elaborate set design at the California music event, and it was all Pusha could think about as he prepared to perform alongside his pal.

Reflecting on the groundbreaking performance, which was staged a decade ago on Saturday, April 17, Pusha told Complex.com, “Whatever that structure was, it was so massive. I was like, ‘I hope this doesn’t fall on me.’ These were all my thoughts.”

Thankfully, all went smoothly and the 90-minute set was hailed a great success, marking a key turning point in the “Stronger” hitmaker’s career.

“It was my first time seeing a stage performance and [Kanye] putting it on like this,” Pusha recalled. “And I’m like, ‘Wait a minute. This is a huge deal.’ Watching him be obsessed… It was like, it couldn’t go any other way for him.”

Looking back at his performance with Kanye, Pusha stated, “I was watching one of the biggest moments in touring, with the biggest artist in the world, off the best album of the year, doing the purest form of hip-hop. I was like, hip-hop is being appreciated.” He added, “They’re appreciating the purest form of hip-hop at the highest level. It was overwhelming.”

“It was overwhelming to see the youngest genre of music, the music that comes under the most scrutiny, the music that wasn’t supposed to last, if you let my parents tell it… It wasn’t gonna be around for 20 years,” he elaborated. “At that point, for me, it was like, ‘Oh, we are the biggest. And we’re not [just] the biggest, we are the best.’ ”

Fans of late rapper DMX are planning to turn a Texas bar gig into a tribute show.

The rap star, real name Earl Simmons, was booked to perform at the Wildcatter Saloon in Katy on 29 May (21), but following his death on 9 April, devotees with tickets are still planning to gather at the venue to salute their hero.

The owner of the saloon will stage the show with the opening acts booked to open for DMX – Tone Royal and Coozablack & Sin City – and he’s on the hunt for a headliner with close ties to DMX.

Meanwhile, the late New York MC’s fiancee, Desiree Lindstrom, has shared a touching tribute to DMX on Instagram, writing, “The first night we met and you held me close. I knew I would never let go. I was lost in you and nothing else mattered. My best friend, my baby, my love… truly my everything. Thank you for us.”

Lindstrom also posted a photo of herself and DMX, and thanked him for their four-year-old son, Exodus, adding, “Thank you God for Earl Simmons… forever X.”

Immediately following his death, Lindstrom paid homage to her man with a tattoo of his 2006 song “Dog Love” above a large X.

Bjorn Ulvaeus Spills Behind-the-Scene Preparation for ABBA's Hologram Tour

    Instagram

Discussing the process of creating the avatars, the Dancing Queen hitmaker claims that his bandmates were ‘photographed from all possible angles’ and made to ‘grimace in front of cameras.’

    Apr 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
ABBA star Bjorn Ulvaeus has opened up on the creation of the group’s avatars for their forthcoming hologram tour.

The “Dancing Queen” hitmakers first announced their reunion back in 2018, promising two new songs – their first in four decades – along with plans to hit the road with the holograms.

While neither project has surfaced as yet, the band is still working behind the scenes amid the pandemic to ensure the tour goes ahead.

Discussing the process of creating the avatars, Ulvaeus told The Times newspaper the bandmembers were “photographed from all possible angles” and made to “grimace in front of cameras.”

“They painted dots on our faces, they measured our heads,” he recalled.

      See also…

And the “Mamma Mia” star also discussed how Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad’s vocals had changed over the years, admitting they are “about one tone lower, perhaps” than in the group’s heyday.

However, he went on to promise that the sound fans would hear on the tour would still be “very much ABBA.”

Back in 2018, Ulvaeus spoke about the direction of the two original new songs – “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” – though the band has since reportedly upped the number of upcoming tracks to five.

“One of them is a pop tune, very dance-able,” he said. “The other is more timeless, more reflective, that is all I will say. It is Nordic sad, but happy at the same time.”

In the interview with The Times newspaper, Ulvaeus also talked about his lasting relationship with his bandmates. “We are really good friends and we see each other quite often,” he said. “Being together in the studio again, it was so familiar. It all came rushing back in seconds. We had fun. You have to have fun.”

Artist of the Week: Polo G

    Instagram

The ‘Die a Legend’ rapper is expected to make a high debut on the U.S. charts as his newest song ‘Rapstar’ has already made a wave on the streaming platforms.

    Apr 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Polo G continues to make a splash. After becoming a mainstay on the U.S. charts last year with his sophomore set “The Goat”, the 22-year-old lyricist is now on his way back to the charts as his latest release “Rapstar” is off to a bright start.

The song propelled the rapper to No. 1 on both Apple Music and Spotify charts on the first day of release with over 2.7 million streams. It marked his first chart topper on Spotify. It also ruled the U.K. R&B chart while breaking into the top 3 in U.K. Singles.

The rapper talked about relationship and the pros and cons of stardom in the new track which was recorded for his next studio installment “Hall of Fame”. “Uh, copped a BMW, new deposit, I picked up another bag,” so he bragged about his fortune.

Besides dominating the chart with “Rapstar”, Polo G made a wave with “GNF (OKOKOK)” and his features with Rod Wave on “Richer” and Lil Tjay & Fivio Foreign on “Headshot”. He’s additionally featured on Pop Smoke’s “Fashion” from movie “Boogie”.

He became one of the standouts among new bloods in the business following the release of his second album. It peaked at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200, raked in more than 4 billion streams, earned him 7 Gold and Platinum RIAA certifications, and landed him in multiple year-end best albums lists.

Despite his success, he always remembered not to forget his early struggles and humble beginnings. “I’ve been a signed artist, but it’s only been a full year-and-a-half. I’m still kind of new to money and this kind of lifestyle, so me being in a messed up predicament wasn’t too long ago,” he said in an interview with Billboard. “I know never to forget that and I know how easy you could lose everything you gain.”

Dan + Shay Addresses Technical Issue at 2021 ACM Awards After Facing Lip-Sync Accusations

    Instagram

The Duo of the Year winner at the 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards notes it ‘is no one’s fault’ that the audio didn’t sync with their lips during the television broadcast.

    Apr 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Dan + Shay has offered a clarification after they were accused of not singing live at the 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Denying the lip-sync accusations, the country music duo blamed technical issue for the mismatch between the audio and their lips during the televised broadcast.

Apparently learning of people’s complaints about their performance, Dan + Shay quickly took to their official Twitter account to address the issue. “apparently there was an audio/video sync issue on the television broadcast,” they wrote in a statement.

They admitted they’re “bummed about it, but it happens, especially when performances are happening in multiple locations.” Not holding a grudge against the Academy of Country Music, they still sang praise for the show’s organizers “for pulling off a great show.”

Dan + Shay addressed technical issue during their ACM Awards performance.

Dan + Shay shared a longer statement on their Instagram page in which they wrote along with a clip of their performance, “hey y’all, just wanted to take a quick second to address this. there was a technical difficulty during the television broadcast of our @acmawards performance, and the audio/video was out of sync. it’s just one of those things that happens sometimes, especially with performances being filmed in different locations and is no one’s fault.”

      See also…

“we were bummed when we found out, but honestly just grateful for the opportunity to be there,” the added, “gotta give major props to the @acmawards and everybody at @cbstv for putting together an AMAZING show, given the crazy circumstances of a global pandemic. thanks so much to our fans for the kind words and support on social media tonight, and for being patient with the whole situation. we love y’all and are so grateful for everything you have given us.”

Dan + Shay was billed as one of the musical performers at the Sunday, April 18 ceremony. They delivered a smooth rendition of “Glad You Exist” from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, but fans couldn’t help noticing that the audio and their lips were not in sync during the performance.

“Dan and shay was like me doing karaoke after three beers,” an unamused viewer tweeted. “Well we know Dan And Shay’s performance was prerecorded,” another suggested. “Either the stream on my tv is off or This is REALLY bad lip-syncing by Dan and Shay. Yikes!” a third one speculated, while another remarked, “Dan and Shay need to learn their lip-syncing skills better because that performance was way off.”

The technical glitch during their performance aside, Dan + Shay still had another reason to be proud that night as they were awarded with Duo of the Year title, winning it over Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line and Maddie & Tae. It marks their third consecutive win in the category at ACM Awards.

“to win duo of the year for the 3rd year in a row…truly speechless,” they said in the statement posted on their Instagram page. “hope y’all have a great night, and seriously, thank you. we’re the luckiest guys in the world.”
