Halsey Accuses Grammys of Accepting Bribes in Response to 2021 Nomination Snub

    Instagram

The ‘Without Me’ singer says Grammy nominations are about knowing the right people with the right handshakes as she responds to her lack of nominations.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halsey has weighed in on the drama surrounding the 2021 Grammy nominations.
The star, who released her acclaimed album “Manic” in early 2020, failed to pick up any nods in the shortlist, which was announced earlier this week (ends27Nov20).
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the “Nightmare” singer addressed the situation, writing, “I’ve been thinking and wanted to choose my words carefully because a lot of people have extended sympathy and apology to me since the Grammy nominations (sic).”

      See also…

“The Grammys are an elusive process,” she explained. “It can often be about behind the scenes private performances, knowing the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with the right handshakes and ‘bribes’ that can be just ambiguous enough to pass as ‘not-bribes.’
“And if you get that far, it’s about committing to exclusive TV performances and making sure you help the Academy make their millions in advertising. Perhaps sometimes it is (!!) but it’s not always about the music or quality or culture.”
Halsey went on to mention The Weeknd, who labelled the Recording Academy “corrupt” after also missing out on the nominations, despite landing critical and commercial success with album “After Hours” and one of the biggest-selling songs of 2020, “Blinding Lights”.
“@theweeknd deserves better, and Manic did too. Perhaps it’s unbecoming of me to say so but I can’t care anymore,” Halsey concluded. “While I am THRILLED for my talented friends who were recognized this year, I am hoping for more transparency and reform. But I’m sure this post will blacklist me anyway.”

George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass' Gets New Stereo Mix on Anniversary of His Death

The title track of the late Fab Four’s 1970 studio album has been remastered and rereleased to mark the album’s 50th anniversary which also happens to be the 19th anniversary of his passing.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – George Harrison’s family is marking the 50th anniversary of his “All Things Must Pass” album by releasing a new stereo mix of the title track.
The late Beatles star’s son Dhani reveals the remastered 1970 tune is “just a taste of more things to come in 2021.”

“We’ve been digging through mountains of tapes, and they just kept coming – boxes and boxes of them,” Dhani Harrison says. “Making this album sound clearer was always one of my dad’s greatest wishes and it was something we were working on together right up until he passed.”
“With the help of new technology and the work of (producer) Paul Hicks on this project, we are now able to make that happen. We can’t wait for you all to hear everything we’ve been working on and your patience will be rewarded next year.”

Originally released in November, 1970, the album was produced by Phil Spector.
George Harrison died in November 2001 after battling various health issues including brain tumor and lung cancer that had spread to his brain. He was 58.
Coicidentally November is also the anniversary of his death. His family paid tribute by sharing a tranquil video showing the late star at his Friar Park estate in England with gnomes.

“I like the Garden,” George in a 1981 interview. “In the garden you see all the seasons come and go. Whatever you do can affect it all but at the same time, the flowers don’t answer you back. They don’t give you no trouble!”
“I’m really quite simple,” he explained in another occasion. “I don’t want to be in the [music] business full time, because I’m a gardener. I plant flowers and watch them grow. I don’t go out to clubs. I don’t party. I stay at home and watch the river flow.”

The reggaeton star dropped “El Ultimo Tour del Mundo” on Thursday (26Nov20), revealing the record helped him stay positive amid the ongoing devastation around the world.
“Looking at the world, everyone looks like The Walking Dead,” he tells Entertainment Tonight. “100 per cent (this album helped my mental health). This is like, a relief for me because I was quarantined… the only thing that I had was the music, and so eso me mantuvo vivo como digo yo (that’s what kept me alive, like I say).”

The musician additionally collected another Grammy nod for the song “Un Dia (One Day)”, his collaboration with J Balvin, Dua Lipa, and Tainy. The XX's Romy Madley Croft Afraid to Write Gay Love Songs When She Was Younger

    Instagram

The vocalist of the British indie band is ready to be more open about her sexuality in her music after previously feeling apprehensive to write gay love songs.

    Nov 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – The xx star Romy Madley Croft is no longer afraid to be open about her sexuality in her songwriting.
Although the indie star came out as a teenager, she and bandmate Oliver Sim, who is also gay, have generally kept references to their sexuality indirect on the band’s hits.
However, Romy, who is engaged to artist Hannah Marshall, is now going solo and has decided her debut will put her sexuality front and centre, with songs like “Love Her”.
“I came out when I was 15, and my dad was really cool about it, and I’m very grateful for that,” she tells British newspaper The Guardian.

      See also…

“But I didn’t feel ready when we put out that first xx album, when we were about 20, to be really, really open about my sexuality. Over time, growing up and also just noticing how the world is changing, I felt a lot more comfortable being more public.”
“To write about loving a woman and not feel afraid or embarrassed … maybe it’s a growing up thing, and just not caring as much what people think.”
The star was also determined to create upbeat, inspiring music for lesbian youngsters – the kind she longed for during her formative years.
“When I was a teenager, and I was looking for explicitly lesbian love songs that I could connect to, I definitely wasn’t finding any pop-dance music,” the star adds. “It was more like, lesbian acoustic music. That’s the stereotype, I think. What does a lesbian love song sound like? Someone with an acoustic guitar!”
Romy released her debut solo single, “Lifetime”, in September (20).
