Prince Harry Says 'The Crown' Is More Accurate Than Tabloids in Portraying Royal Family

    CBS

The Duke of Sussex tells James Corden that he is ‘more comfortable’ watching the Netflix drama series than reading ‘news’ about his family in the tabloids.

    Feb 27, 2021
AceShowbiz – Prince Harry is “more comfortable” watching a fictionalised take on his life in Netflix’s “The Crown” than reading “news” about his family in the tabloids.
The Duke of Sussex shared his thoughts on the show – which chronicles his mother and father Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage and split in its latest season – as he toured Los Angeles with James Corden in a segment on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on Thursday night (25Feb21).
“They don’t pretend to be news,” Harry replied when asked what he made of the programme. “It’s fictional, but it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course, it’s not strictly accurate. It gives you a rough idea of what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.”

“I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself. It’s the difference between… that is obviously fiction, take it how you will, but this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news. I have a real issue with that.”
Harry, who is expecting his second child with wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, went on to admit he’d like to see Damian Lewis play him on the small screen when the series features him as an adult.

Elsewhere in the segment, Harry and James visited the house from TV show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, and FaceTimed Meghan to see what she thought about putting in an offer on the property.

Amanda Seyfried Fears Pregnancy Would Ruin Her Experience Filming 'Mank'

    WENN/Nicky Nelson

The ‘Mamma Mia!’ star, who gave birth to her second child with husband Thomas Sadoski in September 2020, portrays real-life 1930s actress Marion Davies in the Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic.

    Feb 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – Amanda Seyfried was “terrified” when she discovered she was pregnant at the start of filming “Mank”, because she dreaded the thought of dealing with morning sickness while onset.
The “Mamma Mia!” star portrays real-life 1930s actress Marion Davies in the Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic, which chronicles his battle to complete the screenplay for Orson Welles’ “Citizen Kane”.
However, Seyfried admits she had nothing to fear, because the excitement of working on the David Fincher passion project, opposite Gary Oldman as Mankiewicz, made her temporarily forget she was expecting.
Recalling her initial reaction to her positive pregnancy test, Seyfried said, “I was very surprised, and I was also terrified, because the anticipation of getting to set everyday, especially when you’re waking up at 3am, which is the earliest I’ve ever gotten up for a job, knowing that I’m gonna have morning sickness, knowing how horrible I feel physiologically, was just that was a challenge. Just getting mind over matter and getting to set (was difficult).”

“Of course, when I was on set, everything disappeared, we’d roll the cameras and I’d forget that I was pregnant for a second,” she added. “But it’s that challenging part at the beginning of a pregnancy that I thought was really gonna ruin my experience, but it was even better because I had this little man in me.”

Filming was completed in early February 2020 and she gave birth to a son, her second child with husband Thomas Sadoski, in September.
Her performance in “Mank”, which was released in November, has since won her critical acclaim, as well as a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

First 'Army of the Dead' Teaser Trailer Offers Glam Look at Heist Amid Zombie Apocalypse

    [embedded content]

Directed by Zack Snyder, the upcoming original Netflix movie is described as ‘a full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie’ that offers ‘genre-on-genre in a great way.’

    Feb 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – There have been a bunch of zombie apocalypse movies and TV series, but “Army of the Dead” appears to offer a different take on the horror story. The first official teaser trailer for the upcoming film has been released by Netflix, giving a glimpse of somewhat glamorous setting amid epic chaotic scenes.
According to the official logline, the movie is about a group of mercenaries who take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas.
The sneak-peek video hints that the story takes place at the beginning of the zombie outbreak, as there’s still a sense of normality left before a horde of zombies attacks people at the casino. The glam look of gamblers and entertainers soon turns into a war zone as there are huge explosions and shots coming from everywhere.

From Zack Snyder, the man behind “Man of Steel”, “Dawn of the Dead” and the upcoming “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”, “Army of the Dead” is described as a zombie heist film. It stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Matthias Schweighofer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Raul Castillo, Michael Cassidy and Garret Dillahunt among others, with the screenplay being written by Snyder, Shay Hatten and Joby Harold.
“It is a full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie, so it’s genre-on-genre in a great way,” Snyder recently told Entertainment Weekly of the movie. “So you expect pure zombie mayhem, and you get that, 100 percent. But also you get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It’s going to surprise people that there’s a lot of warmth and real emotion with these great characters.”
The project was initially developed at Warner Bros., which passed on it before it’s picked up Netflix. The streamer has shown a vote of confidence in “Army of the Dead”, as it is set to produce “Army of the Dead: The Prequel”, a German-American co-production directed and starring Matthias Schweighofer. It is also planning on developing an anime-style TV series, “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas”, which will see several of the characters from the main film reprising their roles.

The Luke Bankole of “The Handmaid’s Tale” has been added to the cast ensemble of Showtime’s upcoming anthology series “The First Lady”, landing the coveted part of former President Barack Obama opposite Viola Davis, who will portray Michelle Obama.
After news of his casting was made public, the 41-year-old actor shared his excitement with his Instagram followers. “Not sure what’s more of an honour, playing @barackobama doing a TV show honouring @michelleobama or getting to work with the inspirational @violadavis,” he enthused. “Suffice to say I’m giving thanks :)”

The British-Nigerian actor was not the only one celebrating the good news. His music producer brother, Rockwell XL, shared on Instagram Story, “Jheeeeze! Other cast members include Jayme Lawson as young Michelle Obama; Aaron Eckhart as former President Gerald Ford; Kristine Forseth as young Betty Ford; Judy Greer as Nancy Howe; and Rhys Wakefield as Dick Cheney.
This Aaron Cooley-created series is described as a “revelatory reframing of American leadership,” as told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House. Color of Change Calls for End of Support for Golden Globes Amid Corruption and Bullying Allegations

    https://www.goldenglobes.com/

Calling the allegations against the HFPA ‘egregious,’ Color of Change president Rashad Robinson urges networks to hold their support for an awards show that is ‘rigged.’

    Feb 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – The upcoming 2021 Golden Globe Awards has been plagued with serious accusations of corruption, bullying and self-dealing. Just days leading to the 78th annual award-giving event, there is a call for an end of support for the show, which is often dubbed one of the most prestigious events in Hollywood.
Color of Change president Rashad Robinson is the one speaking on the alleged problems within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which presents the Golden Globes. Noticing how big the impact of winning a Golden Globe is, he tells Yahoo Finance, “Those doors that get closed [by not winning a Golden Globe award] are economic doors, are doors to greater opportunities. Are doors where people can then build businesses for the future and so that is why this is so important. That’s why these allegations are so egregious, because the role that the Golden Globes had in being able to be sort of this door opener, should be questioned.”
Robinson also addresses criticism directed at the HFPA for not giving black people and their works more recognition. “There are black creatives who did get nominated this year that we should be celebrating and uplifting,” he claims. “The Golden Globes director category is more diverse from a gender perspective, I believe, than ever before. So there are some things that we should sort of make sure that we don’t throw out.”

      See also…

Hoping for a change, he suggests how people should take action in the matter, “If the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is not willing to sort of interrogate their rules, deal with the leadership challenges they have, then they don’t deserve our support anymore.”
“The networks that run them should question whether or not they’re running a system, an awards show that is rigged, or has these types of violations,” Robinson adds. “We would hold our support or we would push back on other big events if we thought that they were rigged, right?”
The L.A. Times first came up with the allegations against the HFPA. In its report based on its investigation, the paper claimed the organization is “struggling to shake its reputation as a group whose awards or nominations can be influenced with expensive junkets and publicity swag,” putting the legitimacy of Golden Globes in question.
The 2021 Golden Globe Awards is set to take place on Sunday, February 28, with Tina Fey co-hosting from the Rainbow Room in New York City, and Amy Poehler co-hosting from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

FKA twigs Developing Martial Arts TV Show

    Instagram

The ‘Cellophane’ singer is working on her first television series, inspired by her ‘Sad Day’ music video last year, and the project has been picked up by FX.

    Feb 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – Singer/songwriter FKA twigs is developing a new TV show about martial arts outsiders for America’s FX network.
The star came up with the idea while working on her video for “Sad Day”, which featured a mystical sword fighting sequence, last year (20).
“(I’ve done) a couple of fun things over lockdown, because I’ve had a lot of time with not travelling or touring,” she tells The Face. “I’ve been able to get a couple of ideas down for TV series and films.”
“There’s one… off the back of Sad Day, a music video that I did for one of my songs off (2020 album) Magdalene. I’ve developed it into a TV series and FX have picked it up. So I’m currently making my first TV series.”
“It’s like a martial arts TV series, which is very much centred around outsiders and the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to. I’ve been putting a lot of research into the way that the black community and the Chinese martial arts community have a really deep connection. It goes into music. (Iconic rap group) The Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts.”

FKA Twigs has been making headlines recently after accusing her ex-boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress during the course of their brief relationship in 2019.
In the same chat with actress Michaela Coel for The Face, she said, “I felt like I was holding on to somebody else’s dysfunction. And now I feel like I’ve given it back to him. It’s his to hold and rightly so. He can hold it because it’s not mine…”
“It’s important in this day and age that everybody’s able to be accountable for their actions… in a real, genuine, deep place that, thank goodness, we are finally in, where women don’t have to be quiet about that sort of thing anymore.”
FKA Twigs came forward to speak about what she had allegedly been through and she admitted it was a “big relief” when she finally decided to speak out because it felt like a “real step” for her and other women experiencing the same.
She told Coel, “I felt like… a big relief … I felt like it was a real step, not just for me, (but also) for any women who, God forbid, are experiencing or have experienced that.”

Carole Baskin Turns Down Offer to 'Clear the Air' After 'Freak Show' on 'Tiger King' Season 1

    Facebook

The former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant reveals she has been approached to appear in the upcoming second season of ‘Tiger King’ but she turns down the offer.

    Feb 26, 2021
AceShowbiz – Carole Baskin has recently rejected an approach to take part in a second series of “Tiger King”.
The 59-year-old star has previously spoken about how she felt misled about the intentions of the Netflix series – which examined the feud between her and private zoo owner Joe Exotic, including allegations she had killed her missing second husband Don Lewis – so she was amazed when the team behind the show recently got in touch to “clear the air” and try to persuade her and her spouse, Howard Baskin, to sign up for a new series.
She told RadioTimes.com, “It was just a few weeks ago that (the director) Rebecca Chaiklin had reached out asking if we could clear the air. I have been speaking about how we had been so misled into thinking this was going to be the Blackfish for big cats and then it turned out to be the freak show that they produced.”
“So when she said she wanted to clear the air, I felt like, you know, that’s just absolutely ridiculous. It was so obvious that I had been betrayed by them. Why would she ever think that I would be willing to speak to them again. And so I told her to just lose my number.”
Rebecca then reached out to Howard, who told her the programme makers had an opportunity to “redeem” themselves but insisted they wouldn’t be part of any further episodes.
She added, “He said if you guys want to redeem yourselves for all of the horrible things that you made people believe about us that just weren’t true, then your season two will show that but we don’t want any part of it.”

      See also…

The big cat conservationist worked with the “Tiger King” producers for five years on the first season and believed the series would expose the cub petting industry and only discovered the true angle when she watched the show.
She said, “I found out about it the same time everybody else in the world did. When we saw the trailers coming out for something called Tiger King, we actually reached out to them and said, ‘Who’s working on that film because you said Joe Exotic was going to be like five minutes of your film?’ And all of a sudden, they didn’t want to talk to us.”
“So we sat down and binge-watched it and we kept thinking that surely at some point, they would set the record straight, and they never did. They just left all of those false allegations hanging in the air and we’ve all seen the results of that.”
And she insisted the “biggest lie” on the series was her feud with Joe – who is currently in jail over a plot to have Carole killed – because she’s never even spoken to him.
Asked if she had been in touch with the zoo keeper or his team since the series aired, she said, “You know the biggest lie that people were sold in Tiger King was that there was a feud because I’ve never actually spoken to Joe.”
“I’ve only ever seen him twice before the trial – the murder for hire trail – and those two times were both in conjunction with our lawsuit that we had against him because he was using our name.”
“So no, I have not talked to Joe or any of the people who proclaim to be trying to get him out of jail.”
