    WENN/Avalon/Mario Mitsis

Having completed filming his part as heartless drug lord Coyote in ‘Wash Me in the River’, the one-third of Migos gushes in a released statement that he is ‘so proud’ of what they did.

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – Rapper Quavo has scored the opportunity to make his feature film acting debut opposite Robert de Niro and John Malkovich.
The Migos star will appear as heartless drug lord Coyote in the upcoming revenge thriller “Wash Me in the River”, which will be directed by “The Irishman” producer Randall Emmett.
Production on the movie, which also features Jack Huston, has already been underway in Puerto Rico, where Quavo recently completed filming his role.
“I honestly think this movie is going to be one of the greatest to come of this time,” Quavo shares in a statement to Variety.

“The experience was unbelievable for me, with Robert DeNiro and Jack Huston being so down to earth and making me feel like family.”
“Gonna see me doing some stunts and a lot of what you hear from me in my raps!” he adds. “This is one of my biggest debuts I’ve ever had, and [I’m] so proud of what we did and to get to work with Randall who’s such an amazing guy – I can’t wait to do more films with him.”

First Red-Band Trailer of 'Mortal Kombat' Previews Bloody and Brutal Fights

    HBO Max

The age-restricted sneak peek also introduces the fighters in the mighty martial competition, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kano, Liu Kang and Kung Lao in addition to the lead character, Cole Young.

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – The first official trailer for “Mortal Kombat” is here for fans’ viewing pleasure. Making its way out online, the age-restricted sneak peek is basked in bloody glory as it offers a glimpse at the brutal fights between the protagonists and the baddies.
The video features familiar characters, including Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Kano (Josh Lawson), Jackson “Jax” Briggs (Mehcad Brooks), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin) and Kung Lao (Max Huang), in addition to introducing the new lead, Cole Young, who is portrayed by Lewis Tan. The video hints that Cole is unaware of his heritage or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down.
“Fearing for his family’s safety,” the washed-up mixed martial arts fighter “goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with,” the official synopsis reads. “Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.”
The synopsis goes on describing, “Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana — the immense power from within his soul — in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?”

Allison Janney Thanks Anna Faris as She Bids Goodbye to Canceled 'Mom'

    CBS

Shortly after producers announced that the hit sitcom will wrap up with season 8, the Bonnie Plunkett depicter shares a lengthy message in which she called the show one of the ‘great honors’ of her life.

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actress Allison Janney is heartbroken over the shock cancellation of her hit U.S. sitcom “Mom”, calling her role in the addiction-themed show one of the “great honours” of her life.
Show producers Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker, and Nick Bakay and president of CBS Entertainment Kelly Kahl announced the sad news on Wednesday, February 17, revealing the show will end on May 6, at the end of its current eighth season, eight months after the sudden departure of series star Anna Faris, who abruptly left the programme in September 2020, days before its now-final season went into production, reportedly blindsiding showrunners and her castmates.
And now stunned Allison, who told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday that she and her co-stars planned to “keep telling the stories as long as we can”, has broken her silence following the cancellation news with a lengthy post on Instagram on.
“Getting to be part of MOM these past 8 years… showing the laughter, love and hope that can come with recovery, has been one of the great honors of my life,” she wrote, alongside a screenshot of the cancellation news in The Hollywood Reporter.
“I want to thank Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker, Nick Bakay, and all the writers…,” she continued, listing 22 names, “for giving us these wonderfully flawed and lovable characters to bring to life. I miss seeing all of your faces.”
⁣ “And these amazingly talented actors I got to act with everyday!!! Mimi, Jaime, Kristen, Beth, and the coolest man on the planet, Bill Fichtner. and of course Anna Faris. ⁣ Jamie Widdoes [director] for your patience and dedication and enormous talent steering this ship! ⁣ Our entire crew, your laughter and love and dedication to this show has made it a joy to come to work.”

“And last but not least all of our extraordinary fans!!! Thank you for all of your support over the years,” she concluded her post with a praying hands emoji.

There is hope that another network might snap up the series and fans have launched a petition to save the show, which co-stars Mimi Kennedy and Kristen Johnston are backing online.

Kennedy, who plays Marjorie on the show, has shared a link to the Change.org petition on Instagram and wrote, “The audience has a voice and shouldn’t be be ignored.”

Kristen Johnston expressed disappointment at cancellation of ‘Mom’.
And Johnston, who plays recovering addict Tammy Diffendor, has also shared her disappointment, tweeting, “Such a huge bummer. This show has been such a total joy & honor to be a part of. It’s been life-changing for me to be on a show that’s about recovery & women supporting each other thru thick & thin. Plus, ‘Mom’ has the BEST fans ever.”

The ‘Naval Criminal Investigative Service’ spinoff starring Scott Bakula will not be picked up for another season after the current seventh season airs final episode later this year.

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – International TV hit “NCIS: New Orleans” is to end after its current seventh season.
The show, starring Scott Bakula, will close with a finale set to air in the U.S. on 16 May (21) – the series’ 155th episode.
“Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way,” Bakula, who also serves as an executive producer, said on Wednesday (17Feb21). “I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
Showrunners Christopher Silber and Jan Nash added, “It has been our sincere pleasure and honour to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes. As “NCIS: New Orleans” comes to an end, Silber and Nash are working on a new spin-off, “NCIS: Hawaii”.
The “NCIS” franchise launched with the 2003 mothership series, starring Mark Harmon. The show remains one of the world’s biggest TV hits, spawning “NCIS: Los Angeles”, which premiered in 2009.
Rumor has it, the upcoming “Hawaii” spinoff would likely use the production base previously built on the islands for the “Hawaii Five-0” reboot.
The “Five-0” remake premiered in 2010, three decades after the original show came to an end. Starring the likes of Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, and Taryn Manning, the reboot concluded in April 2020 after 10 seasons.

Tayshia Adams Praises Chris Harrison for Taking Break From 'Bachelor' After Racism Controversy

    Instagram

While Tayshia admits that the TV host’s words ‘affected a lot of people, you know, myself included,’ she thinks the fact that he takes ownership of his mistake ‘speaks volumes on his behalf.’

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tayshia Adams has weighed in on Chris Harrison’s decision to step aside from “The Bachelor” franchise “for a period of time” following his controversial comments about contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior. In a new interview on Thursday, February 18, Tayshia claimed that the decision was “a really good thing.”
“I think after reading his apology there’s a few things that stuck out to me, it hit my heart a little bit more to know he actually meant what he was saying,” she said during her appearance on “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation”. “He said, ‘By excusing historical racism I defended it,’ which is the absolute truth, and the fact that he called that out and owned up to that and he acknowledges that, means a lot to me.”
She went on saying, “Also the fact that he said, ‘This is not just a moment but a commitment to much greater understanding that I will actively make each day,’ also meant a lot to me, because it isn’t just a moment, just like how Blacks Lives Matter isn’t just a trending topic on Instagram — it’s a thing that’s taking place every single day that we should actively try to partake in and better.”

Tayshia added that Chris’ words “affected a lot of people, you know, myself included.” She continued, “I think that by him taking ownership, and just not just saying issue an apology and then just going back to work the next day like nothing happened speaks volumes on his behalf.”
Chris announced that he decided to take a break from the franchise on February 13 in addition to apologizing to the black community, to the BIPOC community. “My words were harmful. I am listening, and I truly apologize for my ignorance and any pain it caused you,” the TV host pleaded. “I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the people from these communities who I’ve had enlightening conversations with over the past few days, and I am so grateful to those who have reached out to help me on my path to anti-racism.”
“The historic season of The Bachelor should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” he elaborated. “To that end, I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special.”
Chris landed in hot water after defending Rachael for allegedly attending a 2018 fraternity party that a Reddit user described as an “antebellum plantation themed ball” while discussing the matter with former “The Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Rules Out Potential Return to 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Reboot

    WB TV Network

The actress who played Buffy Summers on the original supernatural series has rejected any idea of joining the upcoming TV reboot, insisting she’s too old for the new project.

    Feb 19, 2021
AceShowbiz – Sarah Michelle Gellar has ruled herself out of a potential “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot because she’s convinced she’s just too old for the role.
The actress shot to fame as the titular character in the hit teen drama series, which aired from 1997 to 2003, and with so many other popular shows in line for franchise revamps, fans have been campaigning for the return of Buffy Summers.
However, Gellar doesn’t think the storyline would work if she were to reprise her lead role as she is now 43.
Appearing on the “On with Mario Lopez” podcast, she said, “(I’m a) wee bit, how do they say, long in the tooth for that.”

      See also…

“What worked for Buffy was that the monsters represented, they were a metaphor for the horrors of adolescence.”
“I do think that story lends itself, it’d be interesting to see how a ‘chosen one’ would deal with that. I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I should be the one doing it. And I’m also way too tired and cranky to put in that work again. But I love that the story holds up, and that people are calling for that (revamp).”
Gellar’s comments emerge after she recently insisted she didn’t want to forever be associated with “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon, following a series of disturbing misconduct allegations made against the writer/director by castmates Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Trachtenberg.
Breaking her silence over the ongoing scandal, she wrote online, “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.”
“I am more focused on raising my family and surviving a pandemic currently, so I will not be making any further statements at this time. But I stand with all survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out.”
