Tom Holland Refuses to Hide 'Much Cooler' Haircut Under Wig for 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Sequel

    WENN

The Peter Parker depicter insists on keeping his new haircut from upcoming video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’ as the actor begins to film the upcoming third Spidey film.

    Feb 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Actor Tom Holland left Marvel bosses with little choice but to accept his change of hairstyle for the next Spider-Man movie after refusing to wear a wig.
The Brit had to start work on the follow-up to 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in October (20), just days after completing another action blockbuster, “Uncharted”, for which he adopted a “much cooler” haircut, with shaved sides, to play adventure-seeking protagonist Nathan Drake.
However, when he arrived on the superhero set in Atlanta, Georgia, hair and wardrobe officials tried to convince him he really should don a hairpiece to resemble the nerdy Peter Parker/Spider-Man character fans had come to love him for.
“I have cool shaved sides and it’s slick at the back, and that’s not very Peter Parker,” Holland told Esquire of his “Uncharted” look.

“He (Parker)’s a bit of a loser. So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides.”
But Holland was not impressed and fought against the suggestion – and won. “For the first time in my life, I put my foot down as the leading actor and was like, ‘I’m not f**king wearing that wig,'” he shared.
“‘I’m going to have shorter hair and you’re going to have to deal with it!'”
The as-yet-untitled sequel, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is expected to be released in December (21).
Tom Holland’s other new movies include hard-hitting crime drama “Cherry”, where he plays a struggling drug addict, and Doug Liman’s sci-fi action adventure “Chaos Walking”, where he shares screen with Daisy Ridley.

Created from partnership between the Ad Council, the CDC and WarnerMedia, the ad features various fan-favorite characters from Warner Bros. films wearing face masks.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Your favorite fictional superheroes are setting good example of how everyone should dress nowadays amid the coronavirus pandemic. A new COVID-19 PSA is making use of Warner Bros. characters to urge people to wear face masks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The 30-second clip, which is developed in partnership between the Ad Council, the CDC and WarnerMedia, features Harry Potter, Neo of “The Matrix”, The Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman masking up like everyone should during the ongoing pandemic. Mashing up original scenes from the movies, which include “The Lord of the Rings”, “Austin Powers” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” among others, the ad also sees Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis “Donnie” Johnson, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn wearing face masks while training, dancing on stairs and hanging upside down respectively.
“Let’s get back to doing our favorite things, whatever that might be. Slow the spread. Mask up America,” say the captions throughout the advert.

In a statement released to press on Wednesday, February 10, Ad Council President and CEO Lisa Sherman expressed her gratitude to Warner Bros. for lending its characters to deliver the important message, “We know that face masks continue to be one of the most effective ways we can protect ourselves against the virus, and we’re truly grateful to Warner for lending their talent and iconic films to support to this critical message.”
Dennis Williams, senior VP of corporate social responsibility at WarnerMedia, said in his own statement, “WarnerMedia is proud to help educate and inform our fans about the importance of mask wearing during this pandemic.”
“Wearing a mask is an effective way to protect ourselves and our loved-ones from COVID-19,” he went on reminding. “We hope that by seeing some of our favorite heroes and characters masked up, our fans will follow suit. Mask wearing is a simple step we all can take to show up and support our communities during this difficult time.”
The advert is going to run during donated media time across America, and will also feature on WarnerMedia’s various platforms, including HBO, Turner, Rooster Teeth, Crunchy Roll, and Bleacher Report. They have also made the spot free for use by broadcast and digital news outlets.

Lucasfilm Fires 'Mandalorian' Star Gina Carano Following Backlash Over Controversial Post

    WENN/Tony Forte

The outspoken conservative actor and former mixed martial artist lands in hot water after comparing Republican to Jewish during the Holocaust in an Instagram post on Tuesday night.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Gina Carano’s controversial post on Twitter has cost her a possible gig. After “The Mandalorian” actress landed in hot water for alluding that being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust, Lucasfilm has released a statement announcing that it cut ties with Carano.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday, February 10. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Additionally, a source told The Hollywood Reporter that Lucasfilm has “been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw.”

Carano received huge flak after the outspoken conservative actor and former mixed martial artist shared her controversial opinion in an Instagram post on Tuesday night, February 9, prompting the hashtag #FireGinaCarano to trend on Twitter. In a screenshot of shared by an Internet user, the 38-year-old actress, who plays Cara Dune on the Disney+ show, reposted a message that read, “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi souldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the goverment first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.”
The quote continued, “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Some people quickly slammed Carano for the post as one said, “As a jewish person, this is f***ing vile and unneecessary. Gina carano needs to be held accountable. the oppression my people have faced because of our religion and ethnicity is NOT the same as political disagreements.”
This is not the first time for Carano to be under fire over her social media post. Back in September 2020, she was criticized after changing her Twitter bio to read “beep/bop/boop.” Many believed that it was an offensive reference to preferred pronouns that social media users usually put in their profile pages. “They’re mad cuz I won’t put pronouns in my bio to show my support for trans lives. After months of harassing me in every way. I decided to put 3 VERY controversial words in my bio.. beep/bop/boop I’m not against trans lives at all,” she wrote on the blue bird at the time.

'Married at First Sight': Chris Shows Remorse After Telling Paige That His Ex-Fiancee Is Pregnant

    Lifetime

Meanwhile, the bombshell revelation only further earns the Chicago native backlash from fans who start to think that the business owner only does the Lifetime reality TV show for money.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Paige Banks faces another obstacle in her relationship with husband Chris Williams. In a clip for a new episode of “Married at First Sight” season 12, Chris dropped another bombshell revelation about his past relationship with his ex-fiancee Mercedes Myrick.
In the new video, which was obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Chris told Paige that his ex is six weeks along in her pregnancy. “I owe you an apology for probably the roughest first week to a relationship you probably ever had,” Chris said while looking distressed. “You got two big hits, day after the wedding and today. You deserve way better than what was dished out to you, and me as a husband, I want to work stuff out, but I want to hear from you and hear what you have to say.”
In confessional, Paige understandbly was seen struggling to process the heartbreaking news. “It was heavy on me, very heavy,” Paige shared. “I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do at this point, and I don’t know.”

      See also…

While Chris seemed to be adamant about fixing things with Paige, it remained to be seen if the latter shared the same feelings. “If today was decision day, what would you say?” Chris carefully asked to a pensive Paige.
The mess eventually further earned Chris some backlash from viewers who started to think that the business owner only did the Lifetime reality TV show for money. Fans started to see him in a bad light after he slept with Paige on their wedding day despite telling the producers that he wasn’t “100% attracted” to her and the new revelation seemingly only convinced them that he was a walking red flag.
“Speaking as a lawyer, anybody can file Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization for a proposed business by paying a small fee to the Secretary of State ($100 to $110),” a fan commented on the Chicago native, who started three more companies after being evicted last year. Another fan said, “He has to be broke with the way he spends. I don’t care how much money he makes. His whole outlook on life tells me that he probably has very little in savings, and would be in serious trouble if the money stopped coming in.”

Dionne Warwick Confirms TV Biopic With Teyana Taylor on Board

    WENN

The ‘Walk on by (Song)’ singer confirms that she is developing a TV series about her life and career with the ‘Bare With Me’ star attached to the project.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – A new series based on Dionne Warwick’s life will star Teyana Taylor, according to the legendary singer.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Warwick revealed the project is “in the works,” adding that Taylor may also direct.
“Teyana is certainly a talented young lady with whom I’ve had the pleasure of interfacing…,” Dionne tells the publication. “She’s very excited about the prospect of being involved and she’s also going to be very, very much involved in directing it and putting together parts and parcel of how we see this going.”

      See also…

Dionne first teased the project via Twitter in December (20), asking fans if they’d “really watch” a series about her life, adding, “This is a case for @netflix. Please don’t ask who I would cast to play me as it would obviously be @TEYANATAYLOR.”
Taylor responded with a number of ‘raising hands’ emojis while Netflix bosses retweeted the post and added, “Taking notes.”
Warwick has yet to confirm Netflix will be the home for the project, telling EW, “They’re not the only place that we’re looking at but Netflix seems to be the leading episodic (platform) to do something similar to what I want to do. There’s a lot of very exciting stuff going on right now!”
Dionne has been amusing her followers with her tweets that showed her interests in much younger stars. She gave a shout-out to Taylor Swift, trolled Chance the Rapper as well as The Weeknd, and singing praise for Billie Eilish while referring to the “Bad Buy” star as William Eyelash.

Tom Holland's Mom Upset by His Role in Hard-Hitting New Movie 'Cherry'

    Instagram

The ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ actor reveals his mother Nicola was caught off guard by his onscreen performance as a struggling drug addict in his new movie.

    Feb 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Spider-Man star Tom Holland received an earful from his mother after upsetting her with a clip of his new crime drama “Cherry”, in which he plays a struggling drug addict.
The actor, 24, takes on the titular role as an Army veteran who self-medicates to treat his post-traumatic stress disorder and resorts to bank robbery to feed his addiction, but his mum, Nicola Frost, was left thoroughly unimpressed after receiving an unexplained sneak peek at a gruelling scene.
“Biggest mistake ever,” Tom recalled of the text drama. “I was like, ‘This is how my day’s going,’ and she was furious with me.”
“I guess I wasn’t thinking right, and I was like, ‘Do you know who would really like to see this? My mum.’ In hindsight, it was a really stupid thing to have done.”

      See also…

He continued, “I think when my mum goes to see my films in particular, the thing she likes the most are the moments she goes, ‘Oh, that’s my little boy.’ But in this film there’s nothing like that.”
Nicola and Tom’s father, Dominic Holland, eventually embraced the hard-hitting “Cherry”, and that came as a huge relief to the young star, as he treasures their opinions of his work.
He told Esquire magazine, “They were able to enjoy it as a movie and not a biopic of their son doing heroin. They are really proud, and they really liked it.”
“If I seek anyone’s approval, it would be my parents. That would be the highest level of achievement.”
Tom Holland’s other new movies include sci-fi action “Chaos Walking”, a “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel, and video game adaption “Uncharted”.

Interview: Matt Woodhead on Who Cares?

These young people are literally the next generation of artists. They have so much to say and so much to give to the world.

Matt Woodhead is not only the author of Who Cares?, but also doubles up as Campaign Manager for the Who Cares Campaign. So when we had the chance to chat with him, how could we possibly say no to someone doing such amazing work for young adults right now?
Who Cares examines the difficulties experienced by young carers in the UK. It’s a co-production between LUNG and The Lowry and was made in partnership with Gaddum, an organisation supporting young carers in Salford. Having toured the country extensively since 2015, it’s now been adapted for radio. It received its premiere on BBC Radio 4 on 9 February, and is now available until 8 March on BBC Sounds here.
    Who Cares? Trailer
Hi Matt, first things first then, tell us a little about the play.
Have you not heard of it by now?! Where have you been?
Erm, well, you know, here and there, so sorry we missed the show originally.
Who Cares is a verbatim play that began its life in 2015. It’s adapted from over 100 hours of interviews with a group of incredible young carers from Salford.
In the play, we follow Connor, Jade and Nicole as they juggle the dramas of every day teenage life with caring for a loved one. Adapted from the real words of young carers, it’s heart-warming, real and doesn’t pull any punches.

    Lizzie Mounter
    Luke Grant
    Jessica Temple

So the play’s been around for a while, what’s the reaction to it been?
Ah, it has had so many different lives. It was only supposed to be performed for one night at The Lowry but here we are…six years later!
The show has been performed in schools and youth clubs across the country, as well as having a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 10,000 people have seen the play and it’s bagged a few awards. 200 young people were also signposted for support when they realised – as a result of watching the play – they might be a young carer.
For me the highlight was performing at The House of Lords. Antonia-Rae, Ciaron, Kerry and Paige (the real young carers involved in the making of the play) made speeches and lobbied decision makers to improve services for young carers across the country. It was really special.
Has the stage version altered much for the radio?
Oh yes, it has been changed to fit the form! Any writer gets a bit nervous when they have to change a script, but once I unclenched by bum, dried my sweaty palms, it was totally fine.
The production has been pieced together beautifully by Toby Swift and it feels really at home on radio. Verbatim theatre has a knack for doing that… In the radio version we also hear from two of the young carers involved in making the show. It’s so cool to think hundreds of thousands of people have now heard their voices. It’s great!!
I also do an introduction at the start of the piece. When we were recording it, the producers wouldn’t let me put on my Radio 4 voice. I was well gutted, coz I had been practicing it all week…
There is now also the Who Cares Campaign; what it’s aim?
YES! The Who Cares Campaign was born from the play. Its aim is to campaign for better services for young carers across the UK. Right now we are launching a Digi Fund. One in three young carers are from low income families and many don’t have access to technology like laptops and phones. These things are vital for young people accessing school work in the pandemic and to help them fulfil their caring role. Through the Digi Fund we are trying to raise £5,000 to pay for young carers to get the digital support they need.
So you believe theatre has the ability to drive real change?
Oh my days – 100%! I’m obsessed (sorry this is my inner nerd speaking now) with this infographic from the Arts Council that shows a study they did with young people. It found that:
When taking part in the arts, children from low income families are three times more likely to get a degree.
Young people who participate in culture are 20% more likely to vote.
(You can find the mentioned infographic here)
Art can change young people’s lives, and soz this is a cliché…
That’s ok, we write reviews, we are partial a good cliché.
These young people are the future. We need to make sure once this pandemic is over we use culture to empower them to make their voices heard.
Has the past year made this an even more vital issue?
Ah, I need to be careful or I’m never gonna get off my soapbox .
Like clichés, we love a soapbox, climb on board…
YES! This lockdown has been so challenging, especially for young carers. At LUNG we have launched a Young Carers Creative Makers group. Each week young carers from Salford, Kent, Cheshire West and North Wales come together with our Engagement Manager / Associate Director Gitika Buttoo to make art.
These young people are literally the next generation of artists. They have so much to say and so much to give to the world. They are all beavering away at the moment making something for Young Carers Action Day on 16 March. It’s going to be really special. I’ve had a preview of some of their work and they are definitely giving all us so-called ‘professional artists’ a run for our money.
Most important question then, how can people support the campaign?
The biggest thing you can do right now is donate to the Digi Fund. Any amount, big or small will change a young person’s life! You can find out more at – https://www.whocarescampaign.co.uk/digi-fund
    ————————————————————————————–
Our absolute heartfelt thanks to Matt for taking the time to chat with us. Who Cares? is another example of where theatre is supporting the community in ways far beyond simply putting on a show! Please donate if you can. More
