    Lionsgate

The actor, who starred in the 2012 big screen adaption of the popular Suzanne Collins novel, reveals his feelings about his character Marvel killing 12-year-old Rue in the survival battle.

    Jan 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jack Quaid has defended his character for killing Amandla Stenberg’s in “The Hunger Games”. The actor, who starred in the 2012 big screen adaption of the popular Suzanne Collins novel, revealed the reason why his character Marvel killed Rue in the sci-fi/action movie.
The 28-year-old offered his explanation on Twitter after a fan posted a screenshot of him in the film. The individual asked, “Wait … @JackQuaid92 killed Rue?” In response to the tweet, he replied, “Oh s**t that’s right. Sorry.”
Despite expressing his comical remorse, the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid justified the murder. “In all fairness, I met my demise VERY quickly afterwards. I was brainwashed by my luxurious District 1 upbringing. But yes incredibly sorry,” he spilled on his character’s fate in another tweet.

Jack’s confession prompted his fans to become lightheartedly upset at him. One individual noted, “Still mad at you for that, BTW.” Another penned, “Yeah, and I’m still pissed at you! But I love you man!” A third asked in disbelief, “Wait wtf that was you?! you evil man jack quaid.”
In the 2012 movie, Jack’s Marvel accidentally killed 12-year-old Rue during the 74th annual event of The Hunger Games. He initially attempted to spear Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. Katniss eventually shot Marvel in the chest with her arrow which led to his death.
“The Hunger Games” aside, Jack is currently starring on Amazon Primes’ series titled “The Boys”. Speaking about his character on the show, he told Daman’s Magazine in June 2019, “In ‘The Boys’, I play Hughie. He’s a nerdy, somewhat sheltered everyman whose life changes in a fraction of second.”
“He’s then recruited by a shadowy organization of people trying to take down rogue superheroes,” he added. “It was absolutely delightful to play a character that changes so much from episode to episode. I’ve never done that before and it was so much fun.”

Whoopi Goldberg Dying to Be First American to Star as 'Doctor Who'

    Instagram

Opening up about her dream of bringing the long-running cult sci-fi series Stateside, the ‘Ghost’ star claims to have pitched the spin-off idea to former ‘Doctor Who’ Tom Baker.

    Jan 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Whoopi Goldberg has a dream of becoming the first American “Doctor Who”.
The “Ghost” star admits she has always been a fan of the long-running cult sci-fi series and even pitched the idea of a U.S. spin-off to former Doctor Who Tom Baker.
Speaking to The Daily Star, she said, “I wanted to be the first female Doctor, but they have one…”

Whoopi reveals her idea to bring the show Stateside was rejected by TV bosses, but she has never given up on her dream of leading the cast of the series, “(It could be) the American version of Doctor Who ends up in New York – and it’s me,” she adds. “We don’t have a Doctor Who. We don’t have that character who is travelling through dimension and time, and being an observer… The idea of that just so made me happy. But they (TV executives) were like, ‘Um, no!’ So I was like, ‘OK, I’m cool. I understand.’ ”
But that didn’t end Whoopi’s dream, “I always hope, when I come to England, the BBC will say, ‘Hey, we want you to do something (on Doctor Who)’. I would love that… I’m still dying to do Doctor Who.”
“Doctor Who”, meanwhile, may soon need to find a new incarnation of the title character. It’s recently reported that Jodie Whittaker is gearing up to leave the series after the current 13th season.
“It’s all very hush-hush but it is known on set that Jodie is leaving and they are gearing up for a regeneration,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “Her departure is top secret but at some point over the coming months the arrival of the 14th Doctor will need to be filmed. It’s very exciting.”

'Home Alone 2' Fans Demand Removal of Trump's Cameo Following Capitol Riot

    20th Century Fox

People call for the movie to digitally edit the scene featuring the outgoing president and replace him with Barack Obama or Joe Biden after he incited the violent protest at the Capitol Hill.

    Jan 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Donald Trump’s desire to leave longtime legacy with his presidency has backfired. As his days in the office are numbered, the outgoing president has been blamed for the Capitol Hill riot, banned on Twitter and now he’s threatened to be cut from “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”.
In the wake of the violent protest that caused the death of five people, including a cop, fans of the movie call for removal of Trump’s cameo. In the 1992 cult Christmas film, the 45th POTUS is featured in a scene where Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister asks Trump for directions while lost in New York.
“Digitally remove him from Home Alone 2 next,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Another tweeted, “Disney should remove Donald Trump from Home Alone 2.” Some others demanded that Trump be replaced with former president Barack Obama or Trump’s successor Joe Biden in the scene, with someone having launched a Change.org petition for the replacement.

Taking matter into their own hands, some Twitter folks have gone as far as altering the scene and replacing Trump with various public figures, including Christopher Plummer, Keanu Reeves, a “Star Wars” character as well as an older version of Culkin.
Prior to this, Trump’s cameo in “Home Alone 2” was cut by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from the broadcast during the 2019 Christmas. The move was made to make more room for commercials.
Meanwhile, back in November 2020, the movie director Chris Columbus revealed that Trump was “bullying” his way into the movie as he demanded to be in the sequel in exchange for a permit to shoot in the lobby of The Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time.

Laverne Cox Quits Sex Industry Documentary Amid Backlash

    WENN

The ‘Orange Is the New Black’ star announces she has decided to pull out of the upcoming documentary about sex workers after the production comes under fire.

    Jan 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Laverne Cox has pulled out of a film about sex workers following a backlash.
The “Orange Is the New Black” star had been due to executive produce “Sell/Buy/Date” – a documentary based on Sarah Jones’ one-woman show – alongside Meryl Streep and Rashida Jones. However, the production has faced criticism for potentially contributing to the stigma around sex work.
Tagging Laverne in a post, one Twitter user wrote, “Just what the world needs. Another movie where non SWers debate whether sex work is exploitative or empowering.”
“This project is everything you’re supposedly against. Stop trying to tell sw stories by ignoring and doxxing them. (sic)”
Another added, “As a sex worker– I get being misrepresented. I mean — people in Hollywood are still doing SWer documentaries without talking to actual sexworkers. (sic)”
In response, Laverne explained she was pulling out of the project because she didn’t feel she is in an “emotional place” to deal with any of the outrage.
In a statement, she shared, “When I agreed to come on as an executive producer of Sell, Buy Date I did so because I was so deeply moved by Sarah Jones’ brilliant play and her unbelievable, undeniable talent as an artist, as an actor. I signed on to support her incredible talent.”
“I have so much love for her as a human being. But I am not in an emotional place to deal with the outrage by some around my participation in this project. So I have decided to pull out.”

      See also…

“To be clear, I am no longer involved in any capacity in Sell. Buy, Date because I have to take care of my mental, physical and emotional health. That is all I have to say on the matter. (sic)”
The 48-year-old star went on to post an old video in which she discussed the need to decriminalise sex work.
Director-and-actress Sarah – who played multiple characters inspired by real people in her 2016 sex industry play – later wished Laverne well and thanked her for her support so far.
She tweeted, “I’m so grateful to you Laverne for coming on the journey with me thus far, and I’m looking forward to continuing my work on the film, and only ask that everyone give Laverne her space while keeping an open mind about the project before judging it.”
The documentary will reportedly focus on inequality of race, sexism and poverty, as well as in criminal justice, through the lens of the debate surrounding the sex industry and will explore whether sex work is exploitative or empowering.
Sarah has defended the documentary and urged people not to write off the project before seeing it.
She wrote, “As a Black feminist artist, I have always centered the stories of traditionally marginalised people, especially women and femmes struggling for liberation and self-determination. My sisters in the sex industry are no exception.”
“I am committed to deep listening to folks with lived experience, not only in my interviews but also in those we hire behind the scenes.”
