Chris Pine Gets Into Details Why He Thinks Fanny Pack Should Be Trendy Again

    Warner Bros. Pictures

When promoting ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, the Steve Trevor depicter redirects question about his character’s reappearance in the sequel to talks about his ’80s costumes.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pine’s character isn’t the only thing coming back to life in “Wonder Woman 1984 – the Christmas blockbuster is rebooting 1980s fashion trends.
Pine’s character Steve Trevor – the love interest of Gal Gadot’s titular character – appeared to die in the first Wonder Woman film, released in 2017, but he reappears in the sequel.
Chris isn’t allowed to share any details about his mysterious return, but he’s more than happy to chat about the film’s 1980s revival.
“My character in the first ‘Wonder Woman’ is a world-weary vet (veteran) and he’s jaded about what the world can be all about it and how bad humans can be,” he tells “Live with Kelly and Ryan”.

In this one, he’s kind of wide-eyed and excited about everything and ready for the experience, even about parachute pants and what not, so it was fun for me to flip the script on the character.”

The “Star Trek” actor had no problem sporting parachute pants in the film, set more than 35 years ago, but he’s most excited about making another 80s style staple – the fanny pack – trendy again.
“The fanny pack, I will say, is a very clever device…,” he raves. “I think for a gentleman, or anyone that really wants to wear a well fitted pant, the fanny pack provides both a protection of the silhouette of the pant while also providing incredible storage space.”
“Wonder Woman 1984” will be released in theatres and on streaming service HBO Max on Christmas Day (December 25).

Matthew Morrison Credits 'The Grinch Musical' Costume for Slimming Him Down

    Instagram

Talking about his reaction to being offered the lead part for the TV special, the former ‘Glee’ star admits he found it ‘terrifying and thrilling and just liberating all at the same time.’

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Matthew Morrison completed filming on his new TV special “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!” a few pounds lighter after spending so much time dancing around in his furry green costume.
The former “Glee” star takes on the titular role in the show, which was filmed at the Troubadour Theatre in London, and reveals the hours spent in the hair and makeup department and onstage in his costume and facial prosthetics actually caused him to slim down.
“I had so much fun getting into that green suit everyday, (but) I actually lost a lot of weight…,” he shared on U.S. breakfast show “Today”. “It was three-and-a-half hours to get into the makeup, an hour to take it off…”
“(But) I only had to do that about five times in total, ’cause we rehearsed this like a stage musical, like for a month (before shooting).”

Morrison admits he was initially hesitant to tackle the role Jim Carrey brought to life in 2000 movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, but he couldn’t wait to exercise his creativity after spending months at home due to the coronavirus shutdown.
“(It was) terrifying, honestly,” he said of his reaction to being offered the lead part. “It’s such an iconic character, and… it’s one of those roles where anything goes and you can be as big and as imaginative as possible, but honestly, after not working for eight months, I was so excited and ready for the task, and it was terrifying and thrilling and just liberating all at the same time.”

“Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!” will also feature Broadway veteran Denis O’Hare as the titular character’s dog, Max, and “Twilight” actor Booboo Stewart as the younger version of the pooch when it airs in the U.S. on Wednesday night (December 09).

    NBC

Since it’s Fan’s Week, the remaining 9 contestants take the stage to sing a new song dedicated to their own fans and they also offer some special performances as a trio.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Voice” returned with a new episode on Monday, December 7. The new episode, which also served as the semi-finals of season 19, featured the Top 9 taking the stage to sing in hopes for America’s vote that would send them to the finals. Since it’s Fan’s Week, the contestants sang a new song dedicated to their own fans. They also offered some special performances as a trio.
The first performer was Jim Ranger from Team Blake Shelton. For the semi-finals, he opted to sing a rock version of Harry Nilsson’s “Without You”. It’s the song that Blake had been wanting to hear on the show and alongside John Legend and Gwen Stefani, he gave him a standing ovation.
Following it up was Team Kelly Clarkson’s Cami Clune who performed “The Joke” by Brandi Carlile. Kelly was really impressed by the performance, while Gwen dubbed her voice angelic and said that her tone was pure. Meanwhile, Jim, Desz and Carter Rubin were the first trio to perform that night. Singing “Willy Go Round in Circles” by Billy Preston, the three perfectly blended their different styles together.

Next up was Team Gwen’s Ben Allen whom Gwen stole from Team Blake. He sang Blake Shelton’s “All About Tonight”, saying that the performance was dedicated to the couple who brought together their two genres as artists. John Holiday (Team John) then hit the stage to sing “Fix You” by Coldplay which he dedicated to his grandmother as well as John and his wife Chrissy Teigen. John totally loved the performance which incorporated a band at the end of the performance.
Tamara Jade, Ian Flanigan and Ben were the next trio to perform. They chose to sing Don Williams’ “Tulsa Time”. Following it up was Team Kelly’s Desz who offered a performance of En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go (Love)”. She dedicated the song to her fans who may need a boost of self love while battling body confidence issues. John raved over her soulful voice while Kelly said that it’s her favorite performance on any of her teams ever.
Bailey Rae then performed “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles, flaunting her smoothness and clarity of her voice. She then returned to the stage to perform Bastille’s “Pompeii” alongside Cami and John. Ian was the next performer, singing his rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” that he dedicated to his fiancee.
As for Tamara, she belted out “Let It Be” by The Beatles which he specially performed for her coach John. John and Gwen loved her voice as the former said that she’s a shining superstar. Rounding out the night was Team Gwen’s Carter, who sang “Rainbow Connection” from “The Muppet Movie” for his autistic brother. The emotional performance successfully moved Gwen to tears.

Russo Brothers Admit 'The Gray Man' Is Being Conceived as a Series of Films

    WENN/Sheri Determan

This action thriller for Netflix follows former CIA operative-turned-freelance assassin Court Gentry as he is being hunted across the globe by his former cohort.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Russo Brothers have confirmed their new movie “The Gray Man” will launch a franchise.
The directing duo, Joe and Anthony Russo, are set to helm the big-budget spy film for Netflix with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans at the top of the casting list, and they have now revealed the movie won’t “answer every question” audiences might have because they want to leave room for future instalments.
“What we’re doing on ‘The Gray Man’ that’s different (is)… we’re not gonna answer every question in the first movie,” Joe said. “This is being conceived as a series of films, and again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we’re not gonna answer every question in the movie.”
“So you’re gonna finish the movie, (and) have a complete story, but you’re still gonna have questions about the wider universe. And I think that’s one way to break the model a little bit, is to not give the audience everything in one film. Don’t have a close-ended narrative. Have an open-ended narrative that’s (like) a chapter in a book.”

      See also…

The action thriller follows a former CIA operative turned freelance assassin named Court Gentry (Gosling) – who is also known as the Gray Man – who is hunted across the globe by his former CIA cohort Lloyd Hansen (Evans).
And the Russo Brothers also confirmed they’re due to start filming next year with shoots set to take place in Los Angeles and overseas.
“(We’re) guys who grew up on a steady diet of action thrillers. The cast is exceptional, the script is excellent,” Joe smiled. “We start shooting at the end of January here in Los Angeles, and then we have some work overseas in Europe after that in the spring.”
Despite having plans for a franchise in mind, the brothers might not helm any future sequels themselves, because of their increasingly hectic schedules.
Speaking to Collider, Joe added, “It could be other filmmakers. I mean we love it, we love what we’ve been prepping, we love the cast, but we’d love to tell multiple stories and schedule-dependent, we might not be able to handle everything. So we love to bring new voices in and we also get excited about that.”

Carole Baskin Slams 'Tiger King' Producers for Making Up Joe Exotic Feud

    Facebook/Instagram

The former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant blames the ‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness’ bosses for creating a rivalry between her and the former zookeeper.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carole Baskin has “never” spoken to Joe Exotic.
The 59-year-old star agreed to take part in Netflix documentary “Tiger King” because she believed it would be an expose of the mistreatment of animals by private owners, but it mainly focused on the relationship between her and her rival, though she insisted the “feud” depicted on the show was created by producers.
“At the end of it. I just sat there with my (current) husband, looking at each other, like: ‘What was that?’ Such a missed opportunity. Because there was so much they could have shown people about the egregious abuse that these animals suffer,” she told The Observer newspaper.
“Instead, they just glamorised this yahoo in Oklahoma, and tried to create a feud. I’ve never even spoken to Joe Exotic. I’ve seen him in person I think four times.”

      See also…

And Carole admitted her life was a “living hell” for months after the programme aired because she kept receiving death threats.
“My phone started ringing, and it rang every two minutes for three months straight,” she said. “Every time I answered the phone, it was somebody screaming threats and saying they wanted to kill me, they wanted to kill my family, they wanted to kill the cats. Our lives were just a living hell for the first three months.”
When she watched the documentary series herself, Carole was just as hooked as the millions of viewers around the world.
“It was like watching a dumpster fire, you just couldn’t turn away from it,” she continued. “It was just mesmerising that there could be this many crazy people doing so many wretched things to animals.”

Viggo Mortensen Slams 'Unreasonable' Criticisms of His Oscar-Winning Movie 'Green Book'

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Crimson Tide’ actor hits back at those criticizing his Oscar-winning movie for portraying a stereotypical ‘white savior’ narrative, describing the criticisms as ‘inaccurate, mendacious, and irresponsible.’

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Viggo Mortensen has slammed the criticism of his movie “Green Book”, admitting negative comments are “hurtful and destructive.”
The Danish-American actor starred as Mahershala Ali’s driver in the film, which took home the Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor prizes at the 2019 Oscars.

      See also…

However, while the film received critical acclaim, it was also criticised by many – including the living relatives of Black pianist Don Shirley, played by Ali in the movie – for portraying a stereotypical “white savior” narrative, a cinematic trope which often appears in American cinema, wherein a white protagonist is portrayed as a messianic figure who often learns something about him or herself in the course of rescuing non-white characters from their plight.
Mortensen opened up about the backlash in an interview with Britain’s The Independent newspaper, as he said, “Much of the criticism that was levelled at that movie was not only unreasonable, but it was inaccurate, mendacious, and irresponsible. It’s based on a load of bulls**t and an axe to grind and little else. Does it affect what I’m doing, or how people perceive me as an actor? Maybe it does. But I can’t really do anything about that.”
He also takes issue with the “cliche” description of criticism of the film, adding, “It’s become a cliche to say, ‘Is this movie going to be the Green Book of this year?’ Green Book has become a pejorative.”

So why not treat yourself and get some tickets? Or maybe treat someone else to the gift of theatre this Christmas, after all, theatre tickets really are the greatest gift we can give.

What about the shows featured over the weekend then? Well, we’ve pulled out the ones that you can see for yourself below.
    & Juliet
Wasn’t the opening set piece to Sunday night’s results show amazing? We already knew that, having given the stage show a full five stars when we saw it last year. You can see our review by clicking below.

If that has you eager to see the show for yourself, you are in luck, because & Juliet will be back in the West End from next March. Grab your tickets now from as little as £25.

Jamie Laing & Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
One show that is certainly making waves is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. You can see our review from last year here.

Strictly viewers would have seen Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing and partner Karen performing a rather striking tango to the show’s title song. The show itself returns to the West End from 12 December at Apollo Theatre, and is currently booking through until March. You can snap up tickets from as little as £24.

Bill Bailey & Phantom of the Opera
Maybe you were mesmerised by Bill Bailey’s portrayal of the Phantom with his dance partner Oti? Well, Phantom of the Opera will be back in 2021 – we’re just waiting for dates to be confirmed. In the meantime, you can still see Bill Bailey’s stand up show, which is on for a handful of performances from 28 December at Lyceum Theatre. And if you live outside London, he already has dates booking for next December. Check the link below for details and locations.

    Ranvir Singh & Waitress
One of our lovely team could tell you every line from this musical, but we promise, we won’t inflict that upon you unless you ask nicely. Whilst the show has shut up its counter in the West End, it will be touring the country in 2021. Strangely, you can only buy tickets for the Birmingham shows via Ticketmaster (from whom we receive a commission), but you can see all the other dates at the show’s official website.

Of course, what we really want to see here at ET is a revival of Little Shop of Horrors. Come on, admit it, we all want to see Audrey 2 come alive again in 2021. More
