Andy Samberg Insists 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Will Be Honest About Police Brutality

    NBC

When speaking about the new season of the NBC series, the Jake Peralta depicter stresses that their job is ‘pointing out that stuff isn’t getting done right and spreading the word.’

    Dec 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Andy Samberg insists the new season of NBC’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “won’t shy away” from tackling “serious problems” like police brutality.
Earlier this year, producers made the decision to scrap the first episodes they had planned to film for the latest instalment of the show because of ongoing police brutality and systematic racism, which sparked the Black Lives Matter movement in the U.S. and beyond.
Speaking to Variety, Samberg, who portrays Detective Jacob ‘Jake’ Sherlock Peralta and also serves as a producer on the show, insisted the new series would be “honest about what is going on in the world.”
“The challenge is going to be being honest about what is going on in the world and not shying away from the fact that there are serious problems and also not punishing viewers who like our show and care about our characters,” he said.

Samberg added he believes “our characters need to examine their roles in the world. They’re going to be forced to look in the mirror and see who they’re complicit with.”

“We’ve certainly never acted as if all police are innocent outside of our squad. In fact, I think we have a ton of episodes that are specifically about how there’s a lot of corruption and breaking protocol,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum explained.
“I think it’s important for us and for anyone watching our show to keep in mind if we’re looking for a half-hour comedy show to be the ones to solve this problem, we’re in trouble.”
“Our job is pointing out that stuff isn’t getting done right and spreading the word that we’re (really) hopeful that it can get better,” concluded the star.

'The Stand' Director Unveils Why Marilyn Manson's The Kid Met Chopping Block

    Instagram

Director Josh Boone additionally reveals that the Stephen King forthcoming miniseries had to pass on a killer cover of The Doors’ song ‘The End’ by the rocker and Shooter Jennings.

    Dec 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marilyn Manson will no longer appear on Stephen King’s forthcoming miniseries “The Stand”.
It was previously revealed that the rocker would appear on the forthcoming TV adaptation of King’s post-apocalyptic novel but, ahead of the show’s premiere on 17 December, director Josh Boone has confirmed that Manson’s role as The Kid has been cut.
“Just to clarify, Marilyn Manson and I had long-discussed him taking on the role of The Kid in ‘The Stand’,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “He and the great Shooter Jennings even recorded a killer cover of The Doors’ song ‘The End’ that ultimately proved too expensive to use.”
“The show was made on a very tight budget and some of the dreams we had went to the wayside. The Kid was another casualty.”

He adds, “When Manson wasn’t able to make it work schedule-wise, the storyline was ultimately excised and never shot, which is for the best, as no one could have slayed that role like Manson would have. Hope to work with him in the future.”
“The Stand” was published in 1978 and is set in an “apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil,” according to a synopsis.
“The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.”
James Marsden, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear, Whoopi Goldberg and Ezra Miller also star on the CBS All Access series.

Carrie Underwood Confesses She Came Close to Ditch Her 'American Idol' Journey

    Instagram

When speaking about her experience on the singing competition, the season 4 winner recalls that she was left terrified after going through auditions and getting the ‘golden ticket’ to Hollywood.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carrie Underwood almost quit “American Idol” in 2005 because she was so nervous onstage during the finals.
The singer went on to win the competition and became one of the most successful Idol stars, but she almost bailed on the TV contest.
“The summer before my senior year, I was home one day, watching TV and saw a news segment about people auditioning for the show ‘American Idol’ and I checked online,” she tells GuidePosts magazine. “The closest auditions were being held in St. Louis (Missouri). ‘How far away is St. Louis?’ I asked my mom. ‘Six or seven hours in the car’, she said. ‘Too far’, I thought. ‘Out of the question…'”

“It would be easy to say the rest is history, that it was meant to be. But it didn’t feel like that at the time.”
“Going through a slew of auditions in St. Louis, getting the ‘golden ticket’ to Hollywood, every contestant’s dream, I was terrified. Every time I had to sing in front of the judges I’d get nervous the way I did in church that first time. Then I’d say a prayer and leave it in God’s hands.”
“All at once it was just too much. Going out to Los Angeles by myself, competing with all these other people who were so talented. I burst into tears.”
Carrie’s father, who accompanied her to Hollywood, gave her an out following one tough audition: “My dad turned to me in the backseat (and said), ‘Carrie…, we can go home right now, and we don’t ever have to talk about it again’,” she recalls. “I took a deep breath. ‘No’, I said at last. ‘I’ll go’.”

Emilia Clarke Left 'Game of Thrones' Director in Awe With Impromptu Valyrian Monologue

    HBO

When talking about one particular scene from season 5, Jeremy Podeswa reveals that he decided to change Daenerys Targaryen’s speech from English to Valyrian at the last minute on the set.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Emilia Clarke managed to improvise an entire “Game of Thrones” speech in a fictional language without anyone noticing.
The star, who portrayed dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen on the show, met the challenge of creating an entire chunk of dialogue from scratch on the spot after director Jeremy Podeswa decided to change the monologue from English to Valyrian at the last minute on set.
“There’s usually a lot of preparation for that sort of thing and so much consideration that goes into it and she had quite a big monologue before she sets the guy on fire,” Jeremy recalled to Entertainment Weekly of the scene, from season five of the show. “I went over to Emilia and I was like, ‘I know this is a really big ask, but do you think you could figure out a way to do this in Valyrian?’ She said, ‘Yeah, sure, I think I can do this’. And I’m all, ‘Really?’ Then she went off and cobbled together things that (Daenerys) had said in the past that made sense. She came back in 10 minutes and had this whole monologue down.”

Podeswa was blown away by Emilia’s impromptu performance, insisting the improvisation was close to flawless.
“I just had to hand it to Emilia for taking on the challenge and making it completely credible,” he gushed. “Every single take, every intonation, and the way she phrased everything, you completely understood what she was meant to be saying. Then the subtitles all seemed authentic to what she was doing.”
“She knew the language well enough at that point to make it all work. It wasn’t tracking perfectly in Valyrian, but no fan ever noticed it. She did an amazing job.”
“Game of Thrones” ran for eight seasons before concluding its run last year (19).

Rozie Perez Admits to Initially Turn Down 'The Flight Attendant' Over Flying Anxiety

    HBO Max

During an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’, the actress playing lonely air stewardess in the new HBO Max series thanks co-star and producer Kaley Cuoco to convince her otherwise.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rosie Perez tested her fear of travelling while making Kaley Cuoco’s new HBO Max series “The Flight Attendant”, after initially turning the role down.
The actress plays a lonely air stewardess in the jet-setting comedy drama, which takes off this weekend, and admits producer and star Kaley had to beg her to take the part.
“I initially turned down the offer, as stupid as that can be, and Kaley wouldn’t accept no for an answer,” Perez tells “Good Morning America”.
The two actresses met and Rosie told “The Big Bang Theory” standout, “I can’t stand travelling; I hate flying”.
But the veteran fell in love with Cuoco’s enthusiasm and decided to take a chance on the show, which was shot on location all over the globe.

Her travel anxiety melted away as she bonded with the cast and crew and reveals the project handed her a dream-come-true moment at the Vatican in Italy during a day off.
“When we got to the square they had a Jumbotron… and the Pope comes out and we all look up and someone yells out, ‘Hey, you’re on the Jumbotron’,” she chuckles.
According to the official synopsis, “The Flight Attendant” is a story of how an entire life can change in one night. A flight attendant (Kaley Cuoco) wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man – and no idea what happened. The dark comedic thriller is based on the novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Chris Bohjalian.
“The Flight Attendant” premieres on HBO Max Thursday, November 26.

'RHOP': Karen Huger Leaves Her Own Party After Being Confronted Over Monique Samuels Invite

    Instagram

The 57-year-old Bravo personality’s launch party takes a dramatic turn as she decides to walk out of it early and it has something to do with her inviting Monique to the event.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – A new beef has been born on “The Real Housewives of Potomac”. In the Sunday, November 29 episode of the Bravo reality show, the ladies gathered for the first time following their dramatic trip to Portugal. However, the event was equally dramatic as host Karen Huger walked out of her own event and it had something to do with Monique Samuels.
The episode saw the Housewives attending Karen’s party to celebrate the launch of her new wig line. Prior to that, Ashley Darby and Monique met up for lunch. At the time, Monique revealed to Ashley that she’d been invited to Karen’s launch party, saying, “She’s been asking me all weekend to come and I told her if I do come, I can come early — [she’s] obviously going to invite [Candiace Dillard] and I want to support [her], but I’m not ready to be in the same space as Candiace.”
Ashley was surprised with the revelation because back during the cast trip to Portugal, Karen said that she didn’t invite Monique to her event. She then called Karen, asking her to confirm her remarks about Monique. However, the LaDame fragrance founder denied ever saying that. “I don’t remember that … It’s people twisting my words,” Karen insisted.

Meanwhile, Gizelle Bryant said in a confessional that she wouldn’t attend the bash. “I will not be attending Karen’s wig party because of her business partner, Steven, the dude that talks about me real bad on social media,” she said, calling out Karen’s creative director for the wig line. “And this is not even your business, it’s his business.”
True to her words, Monique arrived at the event 30 minutes earlier. She wasn’t there for too long because when Candiance texted Karen that she was on the way, Monique decided to just go home.
Later that night, Ashley confronted Karen about Monique. “Monique made it clear that you did invite her to come. And then Monique herself suggested, ‘Well, maybe I should come to set up.’ Why isn’t she here right now?” asked Ashley. To that, Karen angrily responded, “We have guests here. I’m going to ask you to be respectful. So I’m going to get ready and enjoy the rest of my evening. And thank you all for coming. Okay? Thank you.”
After grabbing her husband’s hand, Karen announced her departure and walked out. “I have warned these women … I am leaving the party because I’m simply embarrassed and I’m tired of this. It’s unacceptable. It looks stupid,” Karen admitted in a confessional. Baffled, Dr. Wendy Osefo said, “How do you leave your own party the moment you get called out? Hello, welcome. Thank you for coming to this bulls**t.”

The CW Shuts Down 'The Flash' Season 7 Production Following Positive COVID-19 Test

    The CW

While it remains to be seen whether the one who contracts the disease is one of the cast or the crew, the report states that the person is asymptomatic and self-isolating.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Another TV show has been affected by COVID-19. It has been reported that The CW halts production on season 7 of “The Flash” in Vancouver after a team member tested positive for the novel virus. Deadline is the first one to report.
While it remains to be seen whether the one who contracts the disease is one of the cast or the crew, the report states that the person is asymptomatic. The report further claims that the person is currently self-isolating.
Sources also add that the studio is currently evaluating adjustments to the production schedule so that they can resume filming without the affected employee and those who had close contacts with the person. Season 7 filming of “The Flash” initially resumed on October 1 as the new season is set to debut on February 23, 2020.
This is not the first time for “The Flash” to make adjustment due to COVID-19. The network cut short season 6 because of the pandemic. For the first time in “The Flash” history, a season ended without the titular DC superhero defeating its main antagonists.

In season 7, the Scarlet Speedster, who is played by Grant Gustin, will be seen continuing his adventures without the Elongated Man as actor Hartley Sawyer was fired back in June due to racist tweets. As for Danielle Panabaker, the actress, who is currently on maternity leave, is scheduled to return in the latter part of season 7.
“After a thrilling cliffhanger last season which saw the new Mirror Master (Efrat Dor) victorious and still-at-large in Central City, The Flash must regroup in order to stop her and find a way to make contact with his missing wife, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton). With help from the rest of Team Flash, which includes superheroes Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Nash Wells (Tom Cavanagh), as well as the Flash’s adoptive father Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), Meta-Attorney Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), tough cub reporter Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton) and brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight),” read the official synopsis for season 7.
The synopsis continued, “Flash will ultimately defeat Mirror Master. But in doing so, he’ll also unleash an even more powerful and devastating threat on Central City: one that threatens to tear his team–and his marriage–apart.”
“The Flash” joins other TV production which was paused over COVID-19 concern. Prior to this, CBS All Access’ “Why Women Kill”, Apple TV+’s “Mythic Quest”, ABC’s “Call Your Mother”, Amazon’s “Bosch, TNT’s “Claws” and HBO’s “The Gilded Age” were among the TV shows which production was forced to get shut down. Also getting affected by the widespread virus were Netflix’s “The Witcher”, “Dear White People” and “Vikings: Valhalla”, NBC’s “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med, Fox’s “The Resident”, Peacock’s “Rutherford Falls”, ABC’s “For Life”, CBS’s “Young Sheldon” and Disney+’s “Big Shot”.
