Beyonce Urged to Respond to Subpoena Over 'Black Is King' Shelter Island Lawsuit

    Walt Disney Pictures

Horse farm owner Mike Gaynor has launched legal action against local town council for allegedly allowing the’ Formation’ singer to shoot the video at a historical site in exchange of ‘substantial fee’.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – A horse farm owner on Shelter Island, New York has ordered lawmakers to force Beyonce Knowles to respond to a subpoena over a legal spat linked to her “Black Is King” visual album.
Mike Gaynor launched legal action against local town council officials for allegedly allowing the superstar to shoot a video at Sylvester Manor, the former home of slave trader Nathaniel Sylvester in return for an alleged “substantial fee” – and allegedly without having to obtain the proper permits.
Gaynor said in court docs, “I’m a very wealthy person, and I’m able to defend myself when I’m treated unfairly in my community. What we find so beautiful about Shelter Island is its historical nature, it’s a very simple place, untouched, but increasingly the fact is that if you’re wealthy on the island you’ll be treated one way, and it’s different for everyone else.

“The farm was paid a substantial fee for the Filming and was required to sign non-disclosure agreements assuring its secrecy,” Gaynor’s documents continued to read.
He claims he served Beyonce the subpoena at her East Hampton, New York mansion, and states: “It has now been over a month since Beyonce was served with the Subpoena, and she has not objected to any of the Subpoena… nor has she provided any justification for her failure to respond.”
“This Court should compel Beyonce to comply… within 14 days issuing a warrant for a Sheriff to bring her to be deposed – or order her to pay costs, penalties, and damages.”
Beyonce has yet to respond and bosses at Disney, the company which distributed Black is King on streaming site Disney+, insist they simply bought the finished project from Beyonce and had nothing to do with the filming locations she chose.

'Black Panther' Gets New Opening Credits in Honor of Chadwick Boseman's Birthday

    Walt Disney Pictures

To celebrate what would have been the T’Challa depicter’s 44th birthday, Marvel Studios unveils a new intro graphic on the Disney+ streaming version of ‘Black Panther’.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marvel Studios has paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman on what would have been his 44th birthday. The studio has unveiled new opening credits for the late actor’s movie “Black Panther” on the Disney+ streaming version.
In place of the usual opening logo sequence showing characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the new intro graphic displays photos and footage of Boseman in “Black Panther” as well as behind-the-scenes moments of the late actor.
There are also glimpses of screenplay featuring T’Challa’s dialogs, including his famous line “Wakanda Forever” and his message which reads, “In times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers.” The opening credits end with Marvel Studios logo with new purple backdrop instead of red. “Black Panther” rolled out a purple carpet in lieu of a red one for its world premiere in 2018.

Disney chairman Bob Iger teased the tribute on Twitter, writing, “To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts.”

Kristen Stewart Gets 'Happiest Season' Role Thanks to 2017 'SNL' Monologue

    NBC

Director Clea DuVall, who came up with the LGBTQ-plus holiday movie’s story line, admits that she knew the ‘Twilight’ actress was perfect to play Abby after seeing her being funny and silly.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kristen Stewart’s acclaimed “Saturday Night Live (SNL)” monologue helped the actress land her role in LGBTQ+ holiday movie “Happiest Season”.
During her 2017 appearance on the U.S. TV sketch show, Kristen confirmed she is “like, so gay,” and Clea DuVall, who came up with the new film’s story line and directed it, knew the “Twilight” star was perfect for the part when she saw her “silly” side on the program.
“She is known as an actor for doing more dramatic work, but seeing her on ‘SNL’, so funny and so silly, was thrilling,” Clea tells Britain’s Diva magazine. “That’s what made me feel like, OK, I think this is the perfect person to play Abby because she can have the humor and the warmth but then also be able to connect with the emotional journey of the character.”

The writer/director goes on to admit she’s thrilled with the partnership Kristen forged with her co-star and on-screen lover Mackenzie Davis, revealing they have “this depth and nuance to their performance where you really feel for them and you really feel connected to their experience.”
“I knew that for these two characters, I really needed that. Particularly for Mackenzie’s character, whose journey is so complicated,” she muses. “To have an actor that was able to play all those layers and bring everything to it was really, really vital and Mackenzie knocked it out of the park.”
“Happiest Season” follows Kristen’s character, Abby, who is planning to propose to her girlfriend over the festive season, only to find out her partner’s family don’t know about their relationship. The movie is available on Hulu and digital download services now.

    Nov 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Saved By The Bell” producers have apologised for joking about Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant in the revived show.
The “Rare” hitmaker received a kidney from her friend, actress Francia Raisa, after being diagnosed with lupus, and the programme’s executive producers, along with bosses from Peacock and NBCUniversal, were quick to say sorry after making fun of the situation during episode six of the reboot.
“We apologise. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health,” they told Us Weekly. “We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.”

During the episode, two of the show’s stars argue over who donated a kidney to Selena while the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” are seen written on the walls.
The scenes prompted a new hashtag, #RespectSelenaGomez, which started trending on Twitter, with fans of the “Wolves” singer taking to the platform to express their anger.
Francia also addressed the situation, writing on her own page, “Appreciate the apology but let’s not forget about the donors that potentially felt offended and dismissed from the spray paint written on the wall.”
“As a kidney donor I want to show love and let other donors know that you are not alone. You are seen. You are appreciated. You are so brave and your selfless act is very much appreciated and valued!”

10 Couples Who Found Love on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Considering the intense rehearsal and steamy routines, romance unsurprisingly blooms on the dance floor not only between the celebrity contestants and their pro partners, but also among the pros.

    Nov 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Dancing with the Stars” doesn’t only birth celebrity dancers. It’s not completely rare for the show to bring on-screen romance or off-screen split for the celebrity contestants as well as its professional dancers.
Considering their intense rehearsal and steamy routines, romance unsurprisingly blooms on the dance floor not only between the celebrity stars and their pro partners, but also among the pros. Some of them found love in each other after spending multiple hours together hitting the road together on the “Dancing With the Stars” tour.
Here are some couples who found love on the ballroom of the long-running TV show.

    1. Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev
    Instagram

Nikki Bella developed a friendship with Artem Chigvintsev during her appearance in season 25 of “DWTS”. Their friendship didn’t turn romance until 2 years later after her split from longtime boyfriend John Cena. The former WWE star confirmed their relationship in 2019.
“He lets me be me,” she gushed over the pro dancer in October 2019. “The attention of what he gives me with my soul, with my personal life, my business life. Like, I have never met anyone who’s so supportive and I have no fear that he’s ever going to leave me for my imperfections, which is so amazing.” The two engaged in January of this year and welcomed their first son, Matteo, in August.

    2. Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence
    WENN/Danny Clifford

Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence met for the first time in 2006 when Matthew was a contestant in the third season of “Dancing With the Stars”. However, it wasn’t until the show’s tour in the following year that the two started dating each other.
Their relationship wasn’t all smooth because they broke up in 2008. It took almost a decade for them to realize that they’re meant to be as Cheryl reached out to her ex in Christmas 2016. They quickly rekindled their romance with Matthew proposing to her in May 2018. They tied the knot a year later.

    3. Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec
    Instagram

Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec are one of the long-lasting “DWTS” couples. The former pro dancer on the ABC series was partnered with the businessman back in 2015. Throughout the stint, romance was blooming between the pair, who later announced their engagement in February 2016.
They didn’t wait too long to exchange vows in a July 2016 wedding. Expanding their little family, Kym and the “Shark Tank” star are now proud parents to their twins, Hudson and Haven, whom they welcomed in April 2018.

    4. Julianne Hough and Helio Castroneves
    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

Julianne Hough and Helio Castroneves sparked a romance speculation after the pro dancer and the Brazilian auto racing driver shared a kiss during their Quickstep performance in season 5, which saw him as the winner. Further fueling rumors of their alleged romance, Helio confirmed his split from his longrime fiance, Aliette Vazquez, not long after his stint on the show.
Julianne and Helio were also spotted having a dinner at NYC’s hot spot Tao where the rumored lovebirds were seen “canoodling at a side table” and looked “seriously smitten.” However, the dancer insisted in an interview with PEOPLE that their relationship was purely platonic, saying, “I love Helio like he is my brother. We are the best of friends.”

    5. Emma Slater and Sasha Farber
    Instagram

Emma Slater and Sasha Farber were dating for years before they met as competitors in season 17 of “Dancing with the Stars”, in which Emma was partnered with Bill Engvall and Sasha was partnered with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, back in 2013. However, they split in 2014, only to rekindle in 2015.
The pair continued going strong ever since with Sasha getting down on one knee to pop the question to his lady in a TV proposal in October 2016. The couple walked down the aisle at Bella Blanca in Los Angeles in March 2018.

    6. Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd
    Instagram

Despite his nickname as the “bad boy of the ballroom”, Maksim Chmerkovskiy easily found love in fellow “Dancing with the Stars” pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd. The two had years of an on-and-off relationship before the brother of Valentin Chmerkovskiy proposed to Peta in December 2015.
The lovebirds announced that they’re expecting their first child together in 2016 with a picture of Maks kissing Peta’s baby bump. “We couldn’t be happier. Baby Chmerkovskiy is coming,” she captioned it at the time. Their son Shai Aleksander was born in January 2017 and the pair tied the knot seven months later.

    7. Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough
    WENN/Apega

Derek Hough was romantically linked with a number of celebrity contestants he’s partnered with on “Dancing with the Stars”. Among them was environmentalist and vegan Shannon Elizabeth. The couple dated for more than a year after they appeared as a pair in the sixth season of “Dancing With the Stars” in 2008.
Their romance didn’t last long because the twosome announced their split in 2009 on Twitter. “Hi everyone, we wanted you all to know directly from us, that Shannon & I have decided to end our relationship as boyfriend & girlfriend…,” Derek wrote at the time, while Elizabeth added, “However, we love and care about each other very much and will remain friends and in each others lives. Thank you everyone for all your sweet words & encouragement–it really means a lot to me!”

    8. Alan Bersten and model Alexis Ren
    ABC

Alan Bersten and Alexis Ren made headlines with their possible romance after they shared a kiss in an episode of season 27 back in 2018. The pair appeared to try to work their romance out off-screen, but they seemingly failed to do so. As soon as the season wrapped up, fans saw their alleged budding romance dissolving rather quickly.
“We’re focused on our careers and growing as individuals. He’s an amazing person and I’m grateful he came into my life. He is on his own journey and I respect that,” the social media influencer responded to a fan on Instagram. Even worse, Alan hinted that the intimacy between him and Alexis was nothing but staged.

    9. Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson
    Instagram

Valentin Chmerkovskiy and fellow “DWTS” pro Jenna Johnson crossed path for the first time in 2014 when the “So You Think You Can Dance” alum joined the troupe member of the ABC dance competition show. Val and Jenna started off as a friend before their relationship took a romantic turn in 2015.
They split briefly in 2016 with Val dating season 23 contestant Amber Rose later on. However, it didn’t last long because Jenna and Val found their way back to each other as they got engaged in 2018. “I knew Jenna was the one when I saw how close she is with her family and how she interacts with her nieces and nephews,” Val gushed in 2018. “Family is everything to me and I can’t wait for us to build one together.” The couple tied the knot in April 2019.

    10. Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko
    Instagram

Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko sparked romance rumors after appearing as a pair in season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars” after he gave her flowers in order to make her stop being upset after an off-screen fight. Apparently further fueling the speculations, amid the rumors, Gleb announced his split from his wife of 14 years Elena Samodanov, who later shaded him over his “ongoing infidelity and a recent inappropriate relationship.”
Despite that, both the “Selling Sunset” and the pro dancer denied having an affair. Calling it “false accusations,” Gleb insisted, “My relationship with Chrishell was and remains strictly platonic. Our friendship during our season on DWTS was not the reason for our split.”

Jude Law Warned of Covid-19 Pandemic by Real Scientists on Set of 'Contagion' Years Ago

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The ‘Sherlock Holmes’ actor says he ‘wasn’t hugely surprised’ by the global coronavirus pandemic because of his experience on the set of his 2011 movie.

    Nov 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jude Law “wasn’t hugely surprised” by the Covid-19 pandemic after starring in 2011 movie “Contagion”.
The 47-year-old actor appeared as Alan Krumwiede in the film, which chronicles the spread of a deadly virus. Speaking to GQ magazine about his role in the movie, Jude he always believed that something similar would happen in the real world.
“There was absolutely the sense that this was going to happen,” he mused. “The great scientists on set with us who had worked with Scott (Z. Burns) the writer and (director) Steven (Soderbergh) were very learned and experienced individuals who knew what to expect. And they all said to us that this was going to happen – and it was a case of when rather than if.”
“The way they described it, which is exactly as it has happened, just made sense. What’s scary is you learn in a set like that because you’re being advised by experts, but it doesn’t necessarily sit.”

      See also…

Jude added that, when he first started hearing reports of the Covid-19 virus and its start in China, his “alarm bells” started going off.
“When 2020 started, and we heard about what was initially happening in China, what fast became apparent around the world, it rang alarm bells,” he said. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t hugely surprised.”
Meanwhile, his co-star Kate Winslet said in a separate interview earlier this year that the 2011 movie prepared her for the horrors of the coronavirus pandemic.
“People thought I was crazy because I had been walking around wearing a mask for weeks, going into the grocery store and wiping everything down with isopropyl alcohol and wearing gloves,” she told the The Hollywood Reporter. “Then all of a sudden, March 13 came around, and people were like, ‘F**k, where do I get one of those masks?'”

Viggo Mortensen Hopes to Change Views of Dementia With New Movie After Caring for Parents

    HanWay Films

The ‘Crimson Tide’ actor is keen to bust the myths about dementia after having an up close experience while caring for his mother and father during their battle with the illness.

    Nov 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Viggo Mortensen wants his directorial debut “Falling” to change views of dementia after seeing the neurodegenerative condition up close while caring for his parents.
The “Lord of the Rings” actor, 62, directs and stars in Falling, which follows a gay man who looks after his sick father, Willis, in old age.
It’s an incredibly personal project for the star as his mother, Grace, died in 2015 after battling dementia, while his dad, Viggo, Sr., passed away two years later after a similar fight.
“I’ve had experience with dementia up close,” Mortensen tells British newspaper The Times. “I’ve had it with both my parents, and my grandparents, and my stepfather. And with my parents, it was in a care-giving role, where it was daily, hourly, by the minute.”

      See also…

Describing what drew him to make the movie, Viggo says cinema has largely misrepresented the topic and wants to change how people see dementia sufferers.
“Even in the best movies about dementia we’re looking at someone who’s confused,” he explains. “And in my experience those who are confused are the observers. Generally speaking, the person who has dementia is not confused unless you correct them.”
“Which is almost always a mistake. Don’t tell them that the person they’re talking about happily actually died 20 years ago! For what? They die again for them!”
“And if they are still in that in-between stage, where they can come in and out of it, they realise that they’ve said something stupid and feel doubly bad. You have to examine why you have the need to correct them. It’s for yourself, because you want that person to be what they were. I wanted the film to show the present from the point of view of Willis. And I think we achieved that.”
“Falling” is in cinemas from 4 December (20).
