Jack O'Connell Impressed 'Jungleland' Director With 'Unbelievable' Boxing Skills

    WENN/Brian To/Apega

The ‘Unbroken’ star is playing a bare-knuckle fighter in the new drama film, and director Max Winkler reveals that he executed his fights flawlessly and had no need of his stunt double.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Jack O’Connell has the fighting skills to become a professional boxer, according to his “Jungleland” director Max Winkler.
The “Unbroken” star pulled no punches in the new drama, in which he plays a bare-knuckle fighter who travels across America with his manager brother, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam, for one last bout.
O’Connell was primed for the role, having grown up boxing, but Winkler, who also trained in the ring during his youth, was really impressed by how good he was – and as a result, the Brit’s stunt double didn’t have to do much work.
“Jack O’Connell could be a professional boxer. He’s an unbelievable fighter and did all his own stunts,” Winkler tells WENN.

“There was just one punch thrown by someone else. He’s such a good fighter and moves his body in such a beautiful way… He’s a stunning fighter and a stunning actor…”
“We didn’t have to spend any time teaching him how to fight,” the filmmaker continues. “We were trying to catch up to him if anything.”
O’Connell and Winkler worked closely with the stunt co-ordinator, boxing coach, and other fight advisors on the set of “Jungleland” to ensure every move was fully rehearsed, and Jack nailed every shot.
“When you’re doing a boxing movie with gloves you have the luxury of missing (a punch) and it’s OK because getting hit in the face with a glove feels different than when you’re doing a bare-knuckle boxing movie – you don’t have that luxury because if you miss, you can knock someone out or break your hand,” Winkler explains. “Jack is such a good fighter that he never missed.”
“Jungleland”, which Winkler co-wrote with David Branson Smith and Theodore Bressman, is out now in select theatres and on video-on-demand services.

Vanessa Kirby Says Film Industry for Women Changed Overnight Due to MeToo Movement

    WENN

The ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ claims the #MeToo movement following Harvey Weinstein scandal has sparked global movement for gender equality in Hollywood.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Vanessa Kirby has lauded the #MeToo movement for changing the landscape of the movie industry for women worldwide.
Following the sexual harassment claims made against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, countless more tales of harassment and discrimination in the industry were brought to light, sparking the global movement for gender equality in Hollywood.
In addition, #MeToo also served to alter the kinds of roles women were being offered, with “The Crown” star Vanessa telling Esquire magazine the movement “changed things overnight.”

“(Before,) I think people just accepted that men are the heroes, they get the journeys, they’re the protagonists, and women are the supporting roles: the wife, the girlfriend,” she shared. “(But now there’s) an active desire for people in power to create (fully realised, three-dimensional) parts for women. And a realisation that female-led movies can make money.”
“I’m really excited by that,” continued Vanessa. “There are so many stories about women that haven’t been told. And it’s not about putting a woman in a male role and her playing the equivalent of the masculine alpha. Which I also can’t identify with. I don’t feel like I recognise that person, this invincible woman. I want to see women who are humans. I want to see those really raw, big journeys that (female characters) used to have. I really feel that’s my mission, to play a part in bringing that back.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Vanessa reflected on how she has dealt with the Covid-19 lockdown and admitted it gave her time to pause – which her hectic career hasn’t ever allowed her.
“I slept loads, which I haven’t done properly for years. We developed a routine. That’s something I’ve never had in my life, that kind of structure,” she said. “It’s soothing, isn’t it? I think it’s what human beings actually need.”

'The Masked Singer' Recap: Broccoli Cut, Unveiled as Famed Singer

    FOX

In the Turkey Day-themed new episode, the remaining three singers in Group C, Broccoli, Jellyfish and Mushroom, are vying for the last two spots in the Super Six.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Masked Singer” returned with a new episode on a new night for this week only. In honor of Thanksgiving, the show aired the Turkey-themed episode on Thursday, November 26 with one of the panelists, Ken Jeong, taking the theme literally by donning a Turkey hat. Joining Ken, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke at the panelists’ table was returning guest judge Jay Pharoah.
The episode started off with a group performance of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”. Offering some clues, Jellyfish teased an “Oscar moment,” Broccoli showed off some “toes & knees” and Mushroom claimed to have ties to “Washington.” Meanwhile, the clue packages were delivered by the contestants’ loved ones who shared additional information about the celebrity under the mask.

Jellyfish kicked off the solo performance, singing Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” on a set bursting with neon colors. Jellyfish’s singer described Jellyfish as “rebel” of their “by-the-book family” but she’s also an overachiever. The judges’ guesses included Charli XCX, Kylie Jenner and McKayla Maroney.

Mushroom followed it up with a rendition of Katy Perry’s “Unconditionally”. Mushroom’s secret confidant revealed the contestant was class president in high school with a GPA over 4.0. The clue package also mentioned that “the name that I go by now was not my name when I first sprouted.” The judges guessed Mushroom could be Taye Diggs, Jaden Smith or The Weeknd.

Last, but not least, Broccoli belted out “Old Time Rock & Roll” by Bob Seger. The clues included a Jason mask, five beetles, a moose, dice and “a frontman.” Broccoli’s leading ladies described him as “the greatest showman,” “larger than life” with “showbiz stories [that] are legendary.” The judges guessed Broccoli could be Paul Anka, Al Roker and Ringo Starr.

Host Nick Cannon then announced that Jellyfish was going straight to the Super Six, which meant Mushroom and Broccoli would face off in the Smackdown. For their last chance at securing the spot in the Super Six, Broccoli sang Alabama’s “Take Me Down” and Mushroom changed voice again while singing Donny Hathaway’s classic “A Song for You”.

Ultimately, the judges chose to send Mushroom to the Super Six and cut Broccoli. Before Broccoli was unmasked, the judges made their final guesses. Robin, who guessed Bob Newhart in the first impression, changed his guess to Paul Anka, while the other judges said that Broccoli might be Wayne Newton, Neil Sedaka, Paul Simon, Ringo Starr and Al Roker. Robin was right as the eliminated contestant was unveiled as the Canadian crooner Paul Anka.
The legendary singer then shared his experience of joining the singing competition series. “I’m very humbled because we have gone through something in our country and to have this kind of fun and enjoy this like this, you should all be very, very proud,” he said.
Jellyfish and Mushroom will join Crocodile, Popcorn, Seahorse and Sun in next week’s Super Six.

Joss Whedon Quits New TV Project 'The Nevers' Following 'Justice League' Drama

    WENN

The former Marvel filmmaker leaves his television project amid ‘Justice League’ drama as Ray Fisher accused him of ‘abusive’ and ‘unprofessional’ behavior.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Joss Whedon has cancelled plans to return to TV after exiting his new science-fiction show “The Nevers”.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator was due to helm his first series in a decade by taking the reins on the HBO drama, but he and bosses at the U.S. TV network have announced he will not be writing, directing, producing and acting as showrunner as planned.
HBO chiefs told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday (25Nov20), “We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of The Nevers and look forward to its premiere in the summer of 2021.”
In his own statement, “The Avengers” director said he was leaving the show to focus on an “exciting change” in his personal life.

“This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing The Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer,” he said.
“I am genuinely exhausted, and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change.”
The show was picked up without the need for a pilot in July, 2018 after a bidding war and is set to star Laura Donnelly, Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Ann Skelly, Ben Chaplin, Pip Torrens, Zackary Momoh, Nick Frost, Rochelle Neil, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
“The Nevers” is billed as “an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.”
Whedon’s exit comes after “Justice League” actor Ray Fisher accused him of “abusive” and “unprofessional” behaviour on the set of the film, prompting an investigation at Warner Bros. which, like HBO, is a part of WarnerMedia.

During the Thursday, November 26 broadcast of the annual parade, NBC debuted a ticklish commercial to promote the wrestler-turned-actor’s upcoming series “Young Rock”, and it featured a recreation of his infamous fanny pack picture into one of the event’s larger-than-life balloons.
The 30-second ad saw Johnson’s balloon floating over the streets of Manhattan as “Today” show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb gave their reaction in a voiceover. “This balloon celebrates NBC’s new comedy ‘Young Rock’ which follows the wild times of Dwayne as a kid, a teen and a college footballer,” Kotb introduced, while Guthrie added, “The fanny pack alone is filled with 50,000 cubic feet of helium.”
After the commercial aired, Johnson shared his thought on the unique float via Instagram. “Never in my wildest dreams…,” he wrote on his post of the promo clip. “I’ve been a lucky SOB to have done some pretty cool shit in my career, but after seeing my @nbcyoungrock FANNY PACK FLOAT in the #MacysThanksgivingParade, this might take the cake.”
Unafraid of poking fun at himself, the 48-year-old continued, “This time in my life may represent when I had just $7bucks in my fanny pack, but at least I had enough COOL to tuck my turtleneck in and wear fake silver jewelry because it was all I could afford. And my massive plucked raised eyebrow is the stuff that dreams (and nightmares) are made of.” He concluded by stating, “Float on, kid.. you might just make it one day.”

“Young Rock” is scheduled to make its premiere on NBC in February 2021. I was born into the wild, crazy and unpredictable world of pro wrestling.”

“And as a little boy, to me – these guys were REAL superheroes,” the father-of-three went on recalling his younger years. “No capes. Just big, bad ass and fun dudes. Who always showed tough love. Can’t wait for you to watch this one!”

British Actors Banned From Playing Prince William in Kristen Stewart's Princess Diana Movie

    WENN

Actors with British passports are not allowed to audition for the role of young Duke of Cambridge in the upcoming ‘Spencer’ movie fronted by the ‘Twilight’ star.

    Nov 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Brexit means British kids will be barred for auditioning for the role of Prince William in a new movie starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
Casting director Amy Hubbard posted a call out for 11-year-old male actors to audition for a role in the new movie, “Spencer”, on Twitter – but her followers spotted a stipulation that applicants must have a “European (not British-European) passport.”
The note explained that the stipulation was down to “new Brexit rules” in place when Britain finally severs its ties with the European Union on 1 January (20), three-and-a-half years after voting to leave in a referendum.

Jamie Dornan Gets 'Freaky' Fan Letter Claiming He Fathered a Child With Dakota Johnson

    WENN/Oscar Gonzalez

Aside from dealing with obsessed fans of the books and movies, the Christian Grey of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ reveals how he learned to laugh off the worst reviews of his career.

    Nov 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jamie Dornan was freaked out by one fan’s bizarre attempt to convince him that he and his “Fifty Shades of Grey” co-star, Dakota Johnson, were the parents to a lovechild.
The actor, who played Christian Grey in the film series, admits he received a lot of fan mail from obsessed fans of the books and movies, but one correspondence was particularly strange.
“It was a collage of photographs of a kid,” he tells Variety. “Someone saying that it was my kid, and my wife should know that I have this kid who’s seven years old.”

      See also…

The 38-year-old hunk, who is also known for his portrayal of serial killer Paul Spector on the crime drama series “The Fall”, continues, “I think they were trying to say that the kid was mine and Dakota Johnson’s, and we’d had this baby while we made the first ‘Fifty Shades’ movie. It piqued our interest, let’s say. It was a bit freaky.”
If he wasn’t dealing with odd fans, Jamie was having to contend with the worst reviews of his career, confessing he learned to laugh them off because some were just awful.
“I went through a bad stage with ‘Fifty Shades’ of reading a couple of really bad ones, but then just finding them funny and letting them drive me,” he recalls. “One of them was: ‘Jamie Dornan has the charisma of oatmeal…’ Some people like oatmeal, so I thought it was kind of harsh. I remember that stuck with me, and I don’t entirely disagree with it either.”

    Bravo

It has been reported that everyone, including the ladies, who is involved in the production of the reality show has been told to quarantine for 14 days, though no further details have been shared as of now.

    Nov 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Production of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is reportedly shut down due to COVID-19. A source spilled on Wednesday, November 25 to HollywoodLife.com that while the network has yet to reveal who is the one who contracts the novel virus, “everyone thinks it’s a crew member.”
The source further claimed that “the ladies and production were informed this morning.” The cast members, including Lisa Rinna, Erika Girardi, Kyle Richards, Garcelle Beauvais and Dorit Kemsley, reportedly last filmed for the upcoming season on Tuesday. “They filmed yesterday. Everyone’s been told to quarantine for 14 days and haven’t been told much else right now,” the source explained. “They have no idea when they’ll start up again. Everyone’s just waiting for more info.”
“RHOBH” isn’t the first show in the “Real Housewives” franchise to be halted due to coronavirus. Earlier this month, it was reported that “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast members were forced to stop filming for season 14 after one of the crew members tested positive for COVID-19.

“Everything is shut down right down,” sources said to theJasmineBRAND. “They’re pausing everything until everyone can be tested and quarantined. It’s a really scary situation because this affects more than just the cast, but their families as well.”
Cast member Porsha Williams raised concerns among her fans after revealing her hospitalization. As she didn’t divulge her illness, fans suspected that she’s having COVID-19 considering the timing. “I’ll see you all next week God willing,” she shared her wish to get back to work, adding, “Biggest message I got from this week is to prioritize your health! You can’t just go and go. If you don’t God will sit you right in down and make you figure it out. Road to recovery…”
The reality TV was allegedly rushed to the hospital after passing out in her home. That arrived after production on season 14 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” was put on hold because a crew member tested positive for the virus.
