Josh O'Connor Felt Awful for Terrifying Emma Corrin in Angry Charles and Diana Scenes

    Netflix

The actor who plays Prince Charles in the upcoming new season of ‘The Crown’ talks about filming the scenes where Prince Charles screams at then-wife Princess Diana.

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Josh O’Connor struggled filming aggressive scenes as Prince Charles for the new season of “The Crown” as he terrified his co-star, Princess Diana actress Emma Corrin.
Season four of the hit Netflix royal drama covers the breakdown of the pair’s marriage, with Charles on one occasion seen flying into a jealous rage after the Princess of Wales proves more popular than him during a royal tour of Australia, among other incidents.
The 30-year-old actor tells MailOnline it took him time, after playing the part across two seasons, “to work out what really triggered” Charles, stressing that his take is a fictionalised one, based on real events.
“He wants to marry Camilla (Parker Bowles, Prince Charles’ current wife), but he’s shut down,” says Josh. “He goes to the Queen to say, in essence, ‘This marriage isn’t working. Diana’s not happy, I’m not happy. Camilla’s not happy.’ And he’s shut down, shut down, shut down.”

The brooding tensions lead to a number of confrontations which, according to the actor, left him feeling “awful” for terrifying Corrin – with whom he’d developed a strong bond while working together.
“I felt awful,” the young actor admits. “I tend to keep myself to myself, especially on days where it’s that kind of emotional scene. Emma and I get on very well,’ he told me. When they were filming the ‘Australian’ scenes, on location in Majorca, they ‘roamed around for weeks on electric scooters.’ ”
“But on the day, they go, ‘Action!’ – and I scream in her face. All I want to do is give her a hug and say, ‘I’m so sorry.’ ”
He goes on to explain his heightened performance is inspired by creator Peter Morgan’s writing, which he describes as “Shakespearean in its melodrama.” Josh also drew on Michael Corleone – Al Pacino’s mafia boss character in “The Godfather – remarking, “I definitely referenced him.”
“The Crown” season four debuts on Netflix on 15 November (20).

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Game of Thrones” actor Mark Stanley will play Henry VIII to Jodie Turner-Smith’s Anne Boleyn in a hotly anticipated new mini-series.
The drama will feature Jodie as Anne, the Tudor monarch’s second wife, who was beheaded for treason amid claims of adultery, as she struggles to secure a future for her daughter, the future Queen Elizabeth I.
According to Variety, Stanley, who played Grenn in “Game of Thrones”, has now been picked for the role of Henry.
“Dating Amber” ‘s Lola Petticrew will portray Anne’s love rival, Jane Seymour, while Anna Brewster will play Anne’s scheming sister-in-law Jane Boleyn. Isabella Laughland stars as Anne’s companion and friend Elizabeth Browne.

Other actors who have also joined the cast include James Harkness, Kris Hitchen, Turlough Convery, and Aoife Hinds.

“Hamilton” star Jamael Westman, Amanda Burton, and Thalissa Teixeira will also appear in the drama, which is directed by Lynsey Miller, and is already in production in Leeds, England.
With the working title “Anne Boleyn”, the show will reportedly follow her downfall from Henry’s much loved Queen to her beheading, and shine a feminist light on the brutal reality of a patriarchal Tudor society. It will also examine how her failure to give Henry a male heir affected her standing.
“Delving deeper into Anne Boleyn’s immense strengths while examining her fatal weaknesses and vulnerabilities, Eve’s scripts immediately captured my imagination,” Turner-Smith said.

Emma Corrin Hospitalized After Falling Sick Following Swimming Pool Scene in 'The Crown'

    Instagram

The actress who plays Princess Diana in the upcoming season of the Netflix royal drama series recalls seeking medical treatment following a grueling filming in Spain.

    Nov 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Emma Corrin had to be hospitalised for oxygen treatment after shooting a suffocating scene for “The Crown” in a Spanish swimming pool.
The young star portrays the late Diana, Princess of Wales, in the new season of the hit Netflix show and recalls a gruelling shoot in Spain that culminated with a surprise health scare ahead of her flight back home to the United Kingdom.
“I’m asthmatic and had been ill for a while with a cough,” Emma tells Glamour U.K. of the scary incident. “I had to film a scene in a freezing cold swimming pool. It was the hardest scene to film because I was genuinely keeping myself alive treading water.”
“We were meant to be flying back that night to the U.K. and went past a hospital to get antibiotics. The doctors gave me an oxygen test and said, ‘We can’t let you go because your oxygen levels are so low’ so I was hospitalised.”

And then things got really weird for Emma as staff realised who she was and what she was doing in Spain.
“I remember the nurses figuring out what I was filming and saying, ‘Would you like us to put a cardboard box over your heard so nobody recognises you?’ ” she laughs.
Emma had been recreating the real-life 1983 tour of Australia Princess Diana took with her then-husband Prince Charles, portrayed by Josh O’Connor, during her filming stint in Spain.
Season 4 of “The Crown”, which also stars Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher and Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, debuts on Netflix on Sunday (15Nov20).

Charlie Hunnam Has Not Had the Chance to Regret Turning Down 'Pacific Rim: Uprising'

    Warner Bros.

Having starred in the original 2013 movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro, the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ actor explains the real reason why he had to step away from the follow-up project.

    Nov 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlie Hunnam still has no idea if he regrets exiting the “Pacific Rim” sequel – because he never saw the film.
The Brit starred in director Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 movie and was on board for the filmmaker’s follow-up, but when the movie studio exchanged hands and Del Toro stepped away from the project, Hunnam had second thoughts.
And when the new filmmakers wanted to turn the film around in a hurry, Charlie’s schedule didn’t quite fit and he was forced to turn down the sequel.

“By the time they circled around and decided that they were gonna make it with a different director, we had a conversation about it but I was booked up,” the “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” actor tells Collider. “There were business elements of it that required them to go into production very quickly.”
“Legendary had just been acquired by Wanda out of China, and they wanted that film made very quickly and I wasn’t available. That’s just what happens.”
“I didn’t deeply lament it… We’d already done one Pacific Rim, so I felt like, ‘Go with God. Go do your thing’. I actually haven’t seen the sequel, so I didn’t ever give myself an opportunity to really think about whether I regret that decision or not.”
Written by Travis Beacham and del Toro, “Pacific Rim” is set in the future, when Earth is at war with colossal sea monsters called Kaiju which have emerged from an interdimensional portal on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The follow-up, 2018’s “Pacific Rim: Uprising”, was directed by Steven S. DeKnight and starred John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.

'Grey's Anatomy': Original Star Makes Surprising Return in Season 17 Premiere

    Twitter

In the final seconds of the highly-anticipated episode, which also sees Meredith, Bailey and the rest of the doctors dealing with COVID-19 pandemic, Meredith surprisingly reunites with one beloved character.

    Nov 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” were in for a huge surprise as the two-hour season 17 premiere arrived on Thursday, November 12. [SPOILER ALERT] In the final seconds of the highly-anticipated episode, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) reunited with one beloved character who was none other than Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd, much to fans’ delight.
The reunion happened in a dream sequence after Meredith was found unconscious in the parking lot of Grey Sloan Memorial hospital by McWidow (Richard Flood) after grueling COVID-19 shifts. In her dream, she was strolling on a sunny California-esque beach while donning a white shirt. Meredith then noticed a figure waving at her from afar and it didn’t take long for her to realize who the person was.
“Oh my god!” she said while McDreamy, her late husband and soulmate, approached her. McDreamy, who died a tragic death back in season 11, appeared while wearing a baby blue shirt. Fortunately for fans, that wouldn’t be the last time for them to see McDreamy since Dempsey is set to reprise his role as Derek in next week’s episode, which was directed by Kevin McKidd.

      See also…

Of the reunion, showrunner Krista Vernoff told Entertainment Tonight, “The most important task we had this season was to honor the reality of this global pandemic and the impact it’s having — particularly on healthcare workers. Along with that we had to come up with creative ways to allow our show to still be fun and romantic and provide some escapism. Enter Patrick Dempsey.”
She went on to say, “The beach motif — which will continue beyond the premiere — provided a way for us to live outside the pandemic even for a little while here and there. And Derek’s return provided pure joy for us, for Meredith, and for the fans.”
“Season 17 has been a Herculean effort by our cast, our crew, our writers, and our partners at Disney and ABC — and we are proud of it,” she added. “But our effort is nothing compared to the work of our Frontline healthcare workers to whom this season is dedicated. We hope our show inspires you to wear your masks to protect them and each other. As Derek Shepherd would say, ‘It’s a beautiful day to save lives.’ ”
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 9 P.M. ET/PT on ABC.

'Home Alone' Director Slams Planned Reboot as a 'Waste of Time'

    Twentieth Century Fox

Chris Columbus says that ‘nobody got in touch’ with him about the remake of his holiday classic that is being developed for Disney+, adding that the reboot will not have the same spark as the original movie.

    Nov 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Columbus is totally against the idea of bringing “Home Alone” back as a new project. In an interview with Insider to mark the 30th anniversary of the movie, the helmer of the 1990 movie talks about the holiday classic, including the remake that is being developed for Disney+.
Columbus says he wasn’t contacted about the reboot, but he thinks that it’s for the best because he believes that the project is “a waste of time.” He tells the site, “No, nobody got in touch with me about it, and it’s a waste of time as far as I’m concerned.”
“What’s the point?” he states, believing that the reboot will not have the same spark as the original movie. “I’m a firm believer that you don’t remake films that have had the longevity of ‘Home Alone’. You’re not going to create lightning in a bottle again. It’s just not going to happen.”
He continues expressing his skepticism with the planned reboot, “So why do it? It’s like doing a paint-by-numbers version of a Disney animated film – a live-action version of that. What’s the point? It’s been done. Do your own thing. Even if you fail miserably, at least you have come up with something original.”

      See also…

Having directed the sequel “Home Alone 2”, Columbus cites the second film as the example of such failure. “I can even be accused of it myself, with ‘Home Alone 2’. That movie is basically a remake of the first ‘Home Alone’,” he admits. “Does it need to exist? Yes, because some of those stunts make me laugh really hard, but I just don’t believe it should be done.”
During the interview, Columbus also talked about Donald Trump’s cameo in “Home Alone 2”. He claims that the former real-estate tycoon was “bullying” his way into the movie as he demanded to be in the sequel in exchange for a permit to shoot in the lobby of The Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time.
“Trump said OK. We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie,’ ” Columbus recalled. “So we agreed to put him in the movie, and when we screened it for the first time the oddest thing happened: People cheered when Trump showed up on-screen. So I said to my editor, ‘Leave him in the movie. It’s a moment for the audience.’ But he did bully his way into the movie.”
Disney+ announced plan to revive “Home Alone” last year, after the Mouse House acquired FOX which owns rights to the franchise. The film will star Archie Yates as a new kid named Max, with Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney also among the cast. Its script is written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, while Dan Mazer is tapped to direct.
