Charlie Hunnam Claims Russell Brand Did Justice to 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' Role He Passed

    WENN/Universal Pictures/DJDM

Although Jason Segel wrote the part of rock star Aldous Snow with him in mind, the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ actor admits he was ‘in a dark night of the soul’ in his career at the time.

    Nov 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlie Hunnam is glad he turned down the role of rock star Aldous Snow in pal Jason Segel’s film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, because he would never have given the performance funnyman Russell Brand did.
Segel wrote the part with Hunnam in mind after the two pals agreed it was time to make a movie together, but when he read the script and sat down for the first production meeting, he realised he wasn’t in the right place to play Snow and risked his friendship with Jason by telling him he was walking away from their dream.
“I went and I did the table read and it was very successful… (but) I was in a dark night of the soul in my career, at that point, and felt as though I needed to seize the trajectory and that (film) just wasn’t really aligning with, at that period of my life and career, what I wanted to be doing,” Charlie tells Collider.
“Jason was one of my best friends, which is why he wrote the film for me, but I had to tell him, ‘I’m so sorry, I’m not gonna do this’. It was one of those things where that wasn’t very well received by the inner circle of that production. I had to stand my ground and say, ‘Listen, it’s nothing personal. I’m just following my North star. I’m just in a weird spot and I’m trying to define for myself what the path forward is’.”

“It was really difficult for me for the few months after that.”
Hunnam, who also walked away from the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film franchise, admits he had no idea who Brand was when he heard he had been offered the Snow role, but quickly realised the comedian was the perfect choice for the part.
“I saw this piece of stand-up that Russell Brand did on Christmas Day with my mum,” the actor recalls. “It was just this liberating moment where I said, ‘Obviously, that’s the dude who should have been playing that role.’ Clearly, I just needed to step out of the way of the universe manifesting itself, the way that it was supposed to.”
“There’s no way I could have done it justice the way Russell Brand did. I think there’s a rhythm to these things and you just have to really follow your instincts. It’s all you can really ever do. I suppose I brought that up because it’s a nice example of my instincts being proven to me that it was correct, I think (sic).”

'Teen Mom 2': Briana DeJesus Details 'Super Awkward' Reunion Filming With Kailyn Lowry

    Instagram

Doubling down on her shade at her ‘Teen Mom 2’ co-star, the MTV personality sarcastically sends ‘lots of love in her dark direction’ following Kailyn’s arrest in a now-deleted Instagram post.

    Nov 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Teen Mom 2” stars filmed season 10 reunion on October 29. Now, cast member Briana DeJesus has shared how things went down during the taping which also featured her frenemy and co-star Kailyn Lowry.
The two don’t have a good history when it comes to reunion as they got into heated fight during the show’s reunion in 2018 after Briana dated Kailyn’s ex-husband and baby daddy Javi Marroquin. Of this season’s reunion, Briana revealed to CELEBUZZ, “The reunion was super awkward in general, especially during the last segment, which was when we were brought out all together (virtually, of course).”
She went on to say, “This was obviously the first time Kail and I had appeared on camera together since our infamous ‘reunion fight’-which, by the way, occurred YEARS ago and (to me, at least) is LONG in the past.”
Briana also claimed that reunion host Dr. Drew asked Kail about how it was to see her on camera, and “in true Kail fashion, she was exceptionally cold and said she didn’t care to comment.” She continued, “I’ve been clear in the past that I’m over the drama from years past. So I decided to pipe in to comment. I told Kail that it wasn’t that serious, I was happy to see her, and wished her nothing but the best going forward. At that point, Kail still refused to comment and didn’t say anything.”

In the interview, Briana also threw a subtle shade at Kailyn over her arrest. “It’s clear she still has a grudge against me…which, given the news of her arrest yesterday, one would think she’d have better things to worry about like dealing with the courts for allegedly beating her baby daddy instead of me,” Briana said. “But, Kail will be Kail and there’s no changing that- and, frankly, I don’t care to. I kept it classy and she kept it exactly what would be expected. She’s immature and shows no growth. It’s sad.”
Doubling down on the diss, Briana wrote in a now-deleted post on Instagram. “While one would think Kail would be more concerned with her foot pics on Only Fans, we had an encounter at the reunion yester and it’s safe to say s**t got awkward. She is immature, has not grown, and is still so hot and bothered by my presence it’s laughable.”
She added, “I’ll continue living life in my own lane with a man who LOVES me and makes me HAPPY (and doesn’t lay his hands on me),” before sarcastically concluding the message by “sending lots of love in her dark direction.”
It was previously reported that Kailyn was arrested on September 26 after her ex Chris Lopez accused the MTV star of “attacking” and “punching” him during an alleged dispute in the same month which was started after he cut their son Lux’s hair without her consent. In court documents, Chris accused Kailyn of striking him “several times with a closed fist,” adding that she “started attacking him [and] punching him several time[s] on the head and upper torso because she did not want the child[‘s] haircut.”
Chris claimed that he “did not fight back” during the physical altercation. It was also said that his sister was the one who “attempted to pull Kailyn off.”

'The Walking Dead': Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Wife Hilarie Burton Cast as His Onscreen Wife

    WENN/FayesVision

In Robert Kirkman’s ‘The Walking Dead’ comics, Morgan’s character Negan was married to a woman named Lucille, whom he was cheating on, before she died from a cancer prior to the zombie apocalypse.

    Nov 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – An upcoming bonus episode of “The Walking Dead” season 10 will be a family affair for star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. In one of the bonus episodes of the season, the Negan depicter will be joined by his real-life wife Hilarie Burton, according to Entertainment Weekly.
It has been reported that Burton will appear as a guest star, playing Negan’s late wife Lucille. Burton herself confirmed the news in a tweet on Tuesday, November 3. “Been pretty hard to keep this a secret. But I love working with @JDMorgan. I love watching him become #Negan and take on that swagger,” Burton wrote on the blue bird app. “And I love the @TheWalkingDead family. They’ve been a part of our family for ages and I’m so grateful for their kindness. Xoxo #hereslucille.”

Hilarie Burton confirmed her appearance as Lucille on ‘The Walking Dead’.
Burton is known for her role on “One Tree Hill”. Her credits also include “The Secret Life of Bees”, “Surprised by Love”, “Extant” and “Grey’s Anatomy”.

In Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” comics, Negan was married to Lucille prior to the zombie apocalypse. He was cheating on her with his wife knowing about the affair. However, Lucille’s cancer diagnosis changed Negan as he called his affair off because he wanted to spend as much time with his wife as possible.
Lucille eventually died and the end of the world came almost simultaneously. As the zombie virus started spreading, Lucille reanimated as one of the walkers in her hospital bed. He then named his famous weapon, the barbed wire covered baseball bat, after his late wife to pay tribute to her.
Morgan and Burton have been together for over 10 years after she was introduced to Morgan at an Irish pub in Los Angeles by her former co-star Danneel Ackles and her husband, actor Jensen Ackles. The pair eventually tied the knot last October.
Recalling the night when she first met the actor, Burton previously shared, “When he came along, he was so sure of himself.” The “Friday Night In with the Morgans” co-host added, “I was not a girl anyone pursued. I’ve always been alpha. And Jeffrey was like, ‘You’re going to be my girlfriend.’ It was so nice to be pursued. He’s a cute dude! And I liked that he knew exactly who he was. His confidence was intoxicating.”

Wesley Snipes Blames Racism in Response to Patton Oswalt's Violent Claims on 'Blade: Trinity' Set

    New Line Cinema

The Blade depicter sarcastically remarks that Oswalt is ‘a reliable authority on me,’ after the latter revealed that Snipes was difficult to work with and even tried to strangle director David Goyer.

    Nov 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Wesley Snipes has denied Patton Oswalt’s allegations about his diva behaviors on the set of 2004’s movie “Blade: Trinity”. Telling his side of the story in an interview with The Guardian, the 58-year-old actor insinuated that his co-star made demeaning claims about him because he’s black.
“A reliable authority on me,” he sarcastically said of the stand-up comedian, who also starred in the horror movie. “Let me tell you one thing. If I had tried to strangle David Goyer, you probably wouldn’t be talking to me now. A black guy with muscles strangling the director of a movie is going to jail, I guarantee you,” he responded to Oswalt’s claim that he “tried to strangle the director, David Goyer.” He firmly denied it, saying, “Did I go to jail for strangling him? Never happened.”
When asked about Oswalt’s claim that “he would only communicate through Post-it notes. And he would sign each Post-it note ‘From Blade’,” Snipes replied, “Once again, Mr Oswalt is the authority. Hohoho! Why do people believe this guy’s version of this story? Answer me that.”
He went accusing Oswalt of singling him out due to his race, saying, “This is part of the challenges that we as African Americans face here in America – these microaggressions. The presumption that one white guy can make a statement and that statement stands as true!”

      See also…

“Why would people believe his version is true? Because they are predisposed to believing the black guy is always the problem,” he hit back at the allegations. “And all it takes is one person, Mr Oswalt, who I really don’t know. I can barely remember him on the set, but it’s fascinating that his statement alone was enough to make people go: ‘Yeah, you know Snipes has got a problem.’ ”
Asserting his role behind the scenes, Snipes said, “I remind you that I was one of the executive producers of the project. I had contractual director approval. I was not just the actor for hire. I had au-thor-i-ty to say, to dictate, to decide. This was a hard concept for a lot of people to wrap their heads around.”

Oswalt made the damning allegations against Snipes in an interview with the AV Club in 2012. He said that the “Demolition Man” star was “f**king crazy in a hilarious way.”

    Nov 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Sunday, November 2 episode of “The Voice” season 19 marked the last night of Blind Auditions. Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, John Legend and Blake Shelton finally completed their group of 10 artists before the show moves on to the next round.
The first contestant that night was Julia Cooper from Poland, Ohio. Singing “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers, Julia impressed John who turned his chair for her within the first few seconds of her performance. Kelly and Gwen also hit their buttons, but Julia chose to be on Team John.

The next singer was Apropos from Detroit, Mich, who sang “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye. Unfortunately, no one turned for him. Later, John Sullivan from Denver, N.C. took the stage to sing “Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels)” by Jim Croce. John, Gwen and Blake loved his voice, and he decided to join Team Blake.

Singing “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd was Skylar Alyvia Mayton from Grand Rapids, Mich. Only Kelly turned her chair for the 15-year-old singer, so she was automatically on Team Kelly. Following it up was Lain Roy from Larkspur, Co. He sang “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi, and his radio-ready pop voice piqued both Gwen and John’s interest. After a good pitch, Lain picked Gwen to be his coach.

Jared Ming then took the stageto perform “Drunk Me” by Mitchell Tenpenny, but unfortunately no one turned for him. Trio Worth the Wait, which consists of Mother Tara and her two teenage daughters Mia and Jaycee, later sang “When Will I Be Loved” by Linda Ronstadt. Gwen turned her chair quickly, and once the trio showed off their impressive harmony, the other three coaches hit their buttons. Worth the Wait chose to be the last singer on Team Blake.

Singing “Does My Ring Burn Your Finger” by Lee Ann Womack was Bailey Rae. John was happy that both Kelly and Blake didn’t have the chance to get Bailey on their teams. And as he was the only one who hit the button, the singer did go to Team John.

Neci from Nashville performed “God Bless the Child” by Billie Holiday, but John noted some pitch issues on her. She unfortunately didn’t move forward. Up next was Tori Miller from Siloam Springs. Gwen turned for her because she loved how “calm” and “soothing” Tori’s voice, while John opted out because of “pitch issues.” Gwen completed her team with Tori.

The last singer to perform that night was James Pyle from West Hills. Singing “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles, he impressed all judges. He automatically went to Team John.

'DWTS' Recap: Unfortunate Departure and First Relay Dances

    ABC

The new episode of the ABC dancing competition show reveals that ‘The Real’ co-host Jeannie Mai withdraws from the series she had to undergo an emergency surgery for an abscess in her throat.

    Nov 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Dancing with the Stars” returned with a new episode on Monday, November 2. The night was supposed to feature double eliminations, but with Jeannie Mai’s early exit due to health concern, only one of the remaining contestants was sent home at the end of the episode.
The first pair to hit the ballroom were Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev, who danced the Jive to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. Judge Derek Hough loved it, telling her that she was fantastic. Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli admitted to “having such a good time” watching the routine. Carrie Ann Inaba said Kaitlyn was full of “grace” and “energy.” The judges gave her a 25.
    [embedded content]
Next up were Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson. They opted to dance the Viennese Waltz to “Stuck With U” by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. Bruno thought he was “oozing charm and charisma,” while Carrie Ann dubbed it “beautiful.” Nev earned a 29.
    [embedded content]
Justina Machado and Sasha Farber then followed it up with the Samba to “Magalenha” by Sergio Mendes. Carrie Ann pointed out Justina’s little stumble during the performance, while Derek said that she needed to articulate her feet a little more. As for Bruno, he praised Justine for her “exuberant, joyful presence.” She got a 27.

Dancing the Rumba to “Nobody Knows” by The Tony Rich Project were Nelly and his partner Daniella Karagach. Bruno commented on Nelly’s feet, though he raved about Nelly making Daniella shine. Carrie Ann then said that she was proud of Nelly, though he wasn’t where the judges wanted him to be just yet. He earned a 21.

Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko, meanwhile, took the stage to dance the Viennese Waltz to “Love on the Brain”. Carrie Ann said that the performance was “graceful and elegant” but Chrishell needed to work on her arms. Derek also praised Chrishell’s improvement, though he agreed with Carrie Ann about the arms. Meanwhile, Bruno told Chrishell to work on her sustainability. She got a 24.
    [embedded content]
Dancing the Salsa to “Work It” by Missy Elliott were Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten. Carrie Ann said that the landings on her lifts were a little sloppy while Derek felt that the routine had too many lifts. Skai got a 25.
    [embedded content]
Later, Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart danced the Foxtrot to “Wonder” by Shawn Mendes. Derek loved it, though he noted that they needed to make the rise and fall more “gradual.” While agreeing with Derek, Bruno said that the routine was “wonderful.” Carrie Ann, however, said that she actually liked the choppy rise and fall. The judges gave the pair a 27.
    [embedded content]
Later, they bid farewell to Jeannie, who decided to leave the show as she had to undergo an emergency surgery for an abscess in her throat. Following it up was AJ McLean, who danced the Rumba alongside his partner Cheryl Burke. Bruno admitted that he was “captivated” by the “intensity” of the routine, though he said that the dance lacked the actual “rumba action.” Carrie Ann also noted that there wasn’t enough “content.” He got a 24.
It was then time for Relay Round. Nev, Chrishell and Nelly danced the Cha Cha with Carrie Ann as the judge. Nev performed better than the others as Carrie Ann gave him 3 bonus points while Chrishell and Nelly earned 2 bonus points each. Later, Justina and Johnny danced the Viennese Waltz with Derek as the judge. Jeannie was initially supposed to be in this group. Derek gave Johnny 3 extra points while Justine got 2 bonus points.
AJ, Kaitlyn and Skai then danced the Samba as Bruno served as the judge for it. Both AJ and Kaitlyn got 3 bonus points, while Skai was only given 2 extra points.
It was then revealed that Skai and Chrishell were in bottom two. Carrie Ann chose to save Skai and Bruno also did the same. That meant Chrishell was eliminated!

John Boyega Admits to Have 'Very Transparent' Conversation With Disney Over 'Star Wars' Dispute

    WENN/Lia Toby

Since voicing his anger over the treatment of his character Finn, the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ actor shares hopes that his decision to take a stand will encourage the increase of cast and crew diversity.

    Nov 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – John Boyega has settled his differences with Disney executives over his character’s role in the “Star Wars” franchise – but wants them to hire more black filmmakers.
The British actor went public with his anger at “Star Wars” producers earlier this year, accusing them of sidelining his character, Finn, after the opening 2015 instalment of the latest trilogy.
Since his criticisms were made public in GQ magazine, he says he’s spoken to executives – and hopes his decision to take a stand will encourage them, and other Hollywood studios, to increase the diversity of their casts and crews.
“It was a very honest, a very transparent conversation,” Boyega tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There was a lot of explaining on their end in terms of the way they saw things. They gave me a chance also to explain what my experience was like.”

      See also…

“I’d hope that me being so open with my career, at this stage, would help the next man, the guy that wants to be the assistant DOP (director of photography), the guy that wants to be a producer. I hope that the conversation is not such a taboo or elephant in the room now, because someone just came and said it.”

The “Detroit” star has earned plaudits for his honest outspokenness on racism and other issues, and says it’s just his way of cutting through a “system” in which there’s a lot of “pretence.”
“I don’t care about trying to mesh in with the system in order to secretly work it,” he adds. “That’s just not my way. Everyone’s just got to have an honest and open conversation. It doesn’t have to be conflicting or rude, but it’s a chance for us to actually, really and truly understand where each other is coming from.”
His next role comes in “Red, White and Blue”, a part of director Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe” anthology of films about black Britons.
