  • Dominic West Close to Securing 'The Crown' Role as Prince Charles

    WENN/Brian To

The casting reports come after ‘The Affair’ star was spotted kissing Lily James on their way back to Britain from a film shoot in Italy, but insisted that his marriage is solid.

    Oct 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dominic West has reportedly emerged as the favorite to play Prince Charles in the final two seasons of “The Crown”.
The role comes as West attempts to convince the media his marriage is solid after he and Lily James were spotted kissing on their way back to Britain from a film shoot in Italy.

Ironically, the actor’s storyline on “The Crown” will deal with Charles’ alleged affair with his second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, while he was married to Princess Diana.
An insider tells The Sun, “Show bosses looked at several stars for the sought-after role, but he was by far their preferred actor. Now both parties are hammering out a deal.”

West’s representatives have yet to comment on the casting news.
To add to the irony, Lily James recently split from her longtime boyfriend Matt Smith, who portrayed Charles’ father, Prince Philip, in the first two seasons of “The Crown”.
West’s casting news comes as new photos of him kissing James in Rome emerge, while Lily has pulled out of TV appearances to promote her new Netflix film, “Rebecca”, amid the scandal.
West insists there’s nothing to the photos and he and his wife staged a bizarre show of unity last week, posing for snaps together outside their home in Wiltshire and passing out a note to the U.K. paparazzi, which read, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.”

“The Crown” will return with its new season 4 on Netflix on November 15. Olivia Colman stars as Queen Elizabeth, with Gillian Anderson joining the cast as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The season will depict the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, played by Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin respectively.

The next singer was Lauren Frihauf. That night, the 16-year-old sang “Come to My Window” by Melissa Etheridge which John and Gwen loved, though Kelly and Blake didn’t turn their chairs for Lauren. Ian Flanigan then followed it up with a performance of “Colder Weather” by the Zac Brown Band. His husky voice was enough to make Blake hit his button. As Blake was the only coach to turn his chair for Ian, he automatically went to Team Blake. Another young contestant in that night’s episode was Hailey Green. The 14-year-old St. Martin native hoped to impress the coach by singing “Soulshine” by The Allman Brothers Band, though no one unfortunately turned for her.
Next up was Jim Ranger from California who opted to sing Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color”. John, Blake and Gwen turned their chairs for him. Despite John and Blake’s pitches, Jim decided to go to Team Blake.
25-year-old Eli Zamora then hit the stage to sing “Ya Lo Se Que Tu Te Vas” by Juan Gabriel. Kelly was the only one who turned her chair for Eli, meaning that she was automatically on Team Kelly. Later, paige Turner impressed both Gwen and Blake with her fantastic performance of The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name”. Eventually, Gwen won as Paige was on her team.
Corey Ward, meanwhile, sang “Way Down We Go” by Kaleo but no one turned for him. The next singer was Marisa Corvo who performed “Perfect” by Pink and everyone turned their chairs except for John. At the end, Corey joined Team Kelly.
As for the last performer that night, John Holiday proved that he’s a great singer by belting out “Misty” by Ella Fitzgerald. Everyone thought he was a woman considering his incredible range. John and Gwen hit their buttons while Kelly was blocked. Eventually, the Johns united as John Holiday went to Team John.

  • Michael K. Williams Has to Dig Down in Own Pain and Trauma for 'Lovecraft Country' Role

    Instagram

‘The Wire’ star opens up about the main thing that attracted him to the role of Montrose Freeman, a victim of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre in Oklahoma, on the HBO series.

    Oct 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Michael K. Williams channelled his own “pain and trauma” to play Montrose Freeman on “Lovecraft Country”.
On the HBO show, Montrose is revealed to be a victim of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre in Oklahoma, when white rioters attacked a black business district of the city, killing 36 people, injuring hundreds and destroying countless businesses.
Now Williams tells People magazine of his character: “He’s traumatized… We meet this man, and he’s already a survivor of the Tulsa Massacre. He moved to the south side of Chicago, which is kind of a war-zone in itself.”
“This is also happening through the Jim Crow (civil rights) era. He has issues, unresolved issues about himself that he was never allowed to explore,” he says, adding he “doesn’t know if he’s gay or straight or bisexual.”
“He was told by society, his community and by his family what black masculinity should look like, and he had to stuff anything away that didn’t resemble what he was told. That’s who Montrose is when we find him. He’s in a lot of pain,” he adds.

      See also…

While he admits Montrose is “different” from his previous roles, such as Omar Little in “The Wire”, exploring the character’s “pain and trauma” was a deeply personal experience for Williams.
“He comes from such a broken place,” reflects the actor. “I just had to find my own pain and my own trauma, which was a very painful experience for me. All the generational pain that had been passed down through my own personal experiences, I had to dig deep down in that for Montrose.”
He continues, “I went home to the projects (where I grew up) in East Flatbush, Brooklyn (New York), and remembered all the violence and the anger and the missed opportunities and the potential and the innocence lost and stolen.”
“All of that greatness that was in Tulsa, I saw that in my community. It was a really painful connection to make, but in my mind, that’s where I went to.”
The star explains the main thing that attracted him to the role was “the opportunity to play dad to that amazing Jonathan Majors (Atticus) and for us to explore what father and son bonding looks like and how we can rebuild that and treasure it.”
“Black fathers have been ripped away from their sons for so many years, mine included,” he states. “I hope Montrose will remind us how much little black boys need their fathers.”

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ actor Adam Canto, who stars opposite the Oscar winner in her new mixed martial arts movie, enthuses, ‘I had not seen her do anything close to what she did in this film.’

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Adan Canto can’t wait for film fans to see Halle Berry’s directorial debut, because he insists it’s a career-defining effort for the Oscar winner.
Canto portrays the boyfriend of Halle’s character in new mixed martial arts movie “Bruised” and he reveals his co-star took a pounding on set to get the story across.
“It was really cool to do a film with Halle,” he tells WENN. “She’s an actor’s director and being on set with her was awesome. It was like being a kid again.”

“I was already immersed in the world of my character, which is very different than who I really am. I had a different accent and I gained, like, 35 pounds, mostly in my gut and in my face… I play a very troubled, injured boxer who is struggling to find meaning in life. After an injury he’s left with nothing, but he has his girlfriend, who is also a great fighter.”
“It’s a very timely film. If you go back with the character you visit the hardships of inner cities and fatherless boys that you can’t even imagine. I literally got bruised a little bit, but not as much as Halle. I told her I’ve always loved her work but I had not seen her do anything close to what she did in this film. It’s really, really great. I’m excited for people to see it.”
In “Bruised”, Halle plays a washed-up MMA fighter, Jackie Justice”. She wants to make her young son Manny proud, but first, she needs to defeat her own inner demons and face one of the most intense rising stars of the MMA world.
The movie was reportedly bought by Neflix in a “eight-figure sum” deal. Expressing her excitement of the pick-up, Halle wrote on Twitter in September, “I am speechless. Thank you @netflix for believing in my vision, cannot wait for y’all to finally see #BruisedTheMovie.”

  • 'WandaVision' Not Arriving on DisneyPlus in November

    Disney+

In related news, Elizabeth Olsen shares that the upcoming series, which is said to be having a unique, classic sitcom-inspired setting, will offer fans a more comic-accurate portrayal of her character Scarlet Witch.

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marvel fans have been waiting for “WandaVision”, which many have expected to arrive in November on Disney+. However, it seems like fans have to wait a little bit longer as the solo series for Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) is apparently not listed among those which will be released on the platform next month.
Disney+ shared on Saturday, October 17 short footage featuring shows which are scheduled to premiere on the platform in November. While it included “The Mandalorian”, “Inside Pixar”, “Black Beauty” and “LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special”, “WandaVision” wasn’t among the list.
Despite that, it’s still widely believed that “WandaVision” will arrive by the end of 2020. Fans speculate Disney has yet to give the standalone series an official release date because recent set photos showed that production is still taking place.

In related news, Olsen shared in a new interview that the upcoming series, which is said to be having a unique, classic sitcom-inspired setting, will offer fans a more comic-accurate Scarlet Witch. “WandaVision is such an incredible concept. It’s the first time we get to understand her as the Scarlet Witch that she is in the comics, and that’s exciting for me, because I haven’t yet been able to give her that time onscreen,” she told The New York Times.
The actress also revealed that “WandaVision” will center on Wanda’s mental health. “So that’s going to be fun. She’s always been a representation of mental health and illness in the comic book series, and her major role is handling that stigma within Marvel,” she explained.
While the “Avengers: Endgame” actress was quite generous when it comes to giving a little bit spoiler about her role, she chose to remain mum about Vision, who died in the last movie of “Avengers”. “That I can’t answer, because he died in the last movie. I’m sorry,” she said. Laughing, she continued, “I know you wouldn’t care. I tell my friends, but I can’t tell you. They’re like you — they know nothing, so I just tell them everything because it doesn’t matter. I know it will go nowhere.”
In addition to Olsen and Bettany, “WandaVision” will star Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes.

  • New 'The Batman' Set Photo Suggests Existence of Another Justice League Member and DC Villain

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Previously, Superman and Wonder Woman have been spotted on the set of the Matt Reeves-directed movie, which is said to be separated from the existing DCEU.

    Oct 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Batman” will acknowledge another of DC Comics superheroes though the film is billed as a standalone one. A new photo from the Chicago set of the movie hinted at the existence of The Flash in the Robert Pattinson-starring flick.
As production on the film is shifting to Chicago soon, set and prop design are already taking place and the set is currently not closed. “Fox 32 News” anchor Jake Hamilton, who was recently able to visit the set, noticed a particular property, a ripped flier, that suggests The Flash’s existence.
In the photo of the artwork posted on his Twitter page, there a logo that is similar to that of the DC superhero Flash. Noticing this, Hamilton wrote along with the image, “Wait – is the THE FLASH logo on the Chicago set of THE BATMAN?!” While the logo doesn’t match what Ezra Miller’s Flash wears, it suggests that another version of The Flash exists in this film.
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed fans also spotted a possible reference to a DC villain who is not announced to appear in “The Batman”. In the upper part of the ripped poster, there’s a letter “A” which is stylized with a circle around it, similar to the symbol for one of Batman’s villains, Anarky.

‘The Batman’ set photo suggests the existence of The Flash and DC villain, Anarky.
Previously, “The Batman” set photo from the production in London confirmed that Superman and Wonder Woman do exist in Matt Reeves’ “Batman” universe. Two extras were seen dressing as the Man of Steel and the Princess of Themyscira during the filming of a Halloween party scene.
“The Batman” will exist in a separate universe from the existing DCEU, thus making the appearance of “Justice League” stars Gal Gadot and Miller unlikely.
Pattinson takes over the role of Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman in the upcoming film, with Reeves serving as director. The movie is now set to arrive on March 4, 2022 after being pushed back from its original release date of October 1, 2021 due to production delay.
