During a new interview, the former Lakers star also gushes over former NBA player Charles Oakley, who is currently competing in season 29 of the ABC show alongside pro-dancer Emma Slater.
    Oct 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – It is no stranger for athletes to joining ABC’s dancing competition show. One person that people may want to see dancing on the ballroom is NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. Unfortunately, the athlete has now shared that he has no intention to appear on the show.
“I can’t do it, yeah. I wouldn’t do it now,” the 48-year-old told Us Weekly while promoting American Express’ “Business Class LIVE: Summit for Success”. “I like being the innovator. If it was season 1, I would do it. But I can’t do it in season 2 [or after].”
During the interview, he also talked about former NBA player Charles Oakley, who is currently competing in season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars” alongside pro-dancer Emma Slater. “I thought his feet work was pretty nice,” he praised Oakley. “He looked really good at something that they’d been wanting me to do for a while, but I don’t have enough discipline and courage to do it.”

Further praising Oakley, the former Los Angeles Lakers star added, “[Charles] looks really good. Now, he was always a guy that stayed in shape and it was really good and his outfit and his hips are still working really good.”
O’Neal has been supportive for Oakley as he urged his followers to vote for Oakley and Slater. “You kno who to vote for @therealoak34 had some great feetwork,” he wrote via Instagram on September 22. Slater caught wind of the shout-out and responded to it on Twitter. “I’m about to faint over here @SHAQ just posted for @CharlesOakley34 on #DWTS Wow! Thank you Shaq!” she said at the time.

O’Neal is now focusing on Business Class LIVE: Summit for Success, a virtual event in which he’s scheduled to participate on October 29. “Myself and American Express, we want to continue to support small businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of the country,” O’Neal explained. “A lot of African American people own small businesses, and because of what’s going on [with COVID-19], a lot of people are losing everything. So, we just wanna show our support.”

  • 'RHOP': Candiace Dillard Pressing Charges Against Monique Samuels Following Brutal Brawl

    Instagram

Meanwhile, Monique appears to be wanting to fix things with Candiace after the physical appearance after talking to Pastor Chad, saying, ‘She didn’t deserve that.’
    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Real Housewives of Potomac” continues to show the aftermath of Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard’s brutal physical altercation. In a preview for next week’s episode of the show, Candiace is revealed to be pressing charges against her co-star as she wanted her to face consequences for her actions.
During a party hosted in Dr. Wendy Osefo’s daughter Kamrynn’s honor, she tells the other ladies, “Oh my God! Monique was charged with second-degree assault.” Robyn Dixon then asks, “Is the goal for her to go to jail?” to which Candiace says, “Yeah!” She went on adding, “I want this prosecuted to the full extent.”
Karen Huger later admits to Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby that she advised Candiace to press charges. “I said I would look into what she could do legally,” Karen shares to them while on a trip to her hometown in Virginia.
Meanwhile, Monique appears to be wanting to fix things with Candiace after the brawl. In the Sunday, October 11 episode of the show, she expressed to Pastor Chad and his wife Darice, “This entire situation has turned my life upside down. … I need to understand how I allowed someone to push me outside my normal behavior.”

Pastor Chad then responded, “You need to be honest with what’s going on in your own heart. That may be hard for you because you’re used to controlling and orchestrating, but it’s you trying to protect everything, because you had to protect everything as a child through young adulthood.”
He went on saying, “When I met you, you were a fighter because of the bullying you went through growing up and when you met Chris, you had to prove yourself over and over again. You’ve been in survival mode since a kid,” he says, adding that the fight with Candiace may have been a result of so many feelings Monique had bottled up.”
Monique broke down to tears, saying that she’s tired of people “nitpicking” every single thing she does. “I’m tired of constantly trying to have to prove myself when I know my self worth,” she explained. To that, Pastor Chad replied, “You have to ask yourself a question … why was that such a trigger? In your own mind, you are ideal, but around this group of women – they are not impressed with your own perfection and that causes you disdain. It’s something you need to reconcile inside of you.”
Showing remorse, Monique responded, “What you’re saying is right. There was a lot of pressure building up inside me that had nothing to do with her. She didn’t deserve that.”

  • 'The War With Grandpa' Takes Down 'Tenet' From Box Office's Top Spot

    101 Studios/Warner Bros.

The family comedy starring Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman debuts with $3.6 million amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that shut down cinemas in Los Angeles and New York.
    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman’s new movie “The War with Grandpa” has taken down “Tenet” as North America’s number one film amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The family comedy earned $3.6 million (£2.8 million) to take the box office top spot, which is the lowest-grossing number one debut since Sigourney Weaver’s “Gorillas in the Mist” in 1988, according to Forbes.
“Really pleased that 101 Studios was able to offer audiences a comedy that is bringing the whole family back to theaters,” said Laurent Ouaknine, president, distribution of 101 Studios.

The logline of the light comedy reads, “Sixth-grader Peter (Oakes Fegley) is pretty much your average kid. But when his recently widowed grandfather Ed (De Niro) moves in with Peter’s family, the boy is forced to give up his most prized possession of all: his bedroom. Unwilling to let such an injustice stand, Peter devises a series of increasingly elaborate pranks to drive out the interloper, but Grandpa Ed won’t go without a fight.”
Back to the chart, it has to be noted that with cinemas in major markets like Los Angeles and New York still shuttered, it was enough to dethrone Christopher Nolan’s action thriller, which pulled in $2.1 million (£1.6 million), six weeks after its release.
“Tenet” was the first major blockbuster to open in theatres following the coronavirus shutdown, and has since taken its North American haul to date to $48.3 million (£37 million), giving it a worldwide total of $323.3 million (£248 million).
The re-release of “Hocus Pocus” in the lead up to Halloween is at three, while “X-Men” spin-off “The New Mutants” and Russell Crowe’s “Unhinged” complete the new top five.

  • 'Emily in Paris' Star Appears to Agree With People's Criticism on the Series, Teases Season 2

    Netflix/Carole Bethuel

In response to the people perceiving the show as ‘cliche,’ cast member Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel on the Netflix show, says in a new interview that it isn’t entirely wrong.
    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Netflix’s “Emily in Paris” has caught people’s attention with mixed reviews. Some people love the story of an American girl, who barely speaks French, taking a job in the City of Lights. However, some others, mostly French, think that the story is “cliche” and the infidelity theme on the series also earns the show backlash.
In response to the people perceiving the show as “cliche,” cast member Lucas Bravo said in a new interview that it wasn’t entirely wrong. “I think they’re right, in a way,” the 32-year-old French actor, who plays Gabriel, shared to Cosmopolitan. “We’re portraying cliches and we’re portraying one single vision of Paris.”
Calling the city “one of the most diverse cities in the world,” Bravo continued, “We have so many ways of thinking, so many different nationalities, so many different neighborhoods. A lifetime wouldn’t be enough to know everything that’s going on in Paris.” He went on to say, “It’s an entire world in a city. At some point, if you want to tell a story about Paris, you have to choose an angle. You have to choose a vision. French critics, they didn’t understand the fact that it’s just one vision. They’re like, ‘Oh, this is not what Paris is.’ Of course. Paris is many things.”

Although Netflix has yet to officially greenlight the series for a second season, Bravo shared how he thought the sophomore season would go when it comes to his character’s love life with Emily (Lily Collins) and his estranged girlfriend Camille (Camille Razat). “We planted a few seeds about different characters,” he said.
He went on say, “Like Camille, when she kisses Emily on the mouth, and she’s like, ‘I’m not sorry.’ And then when they’re in bed, and I’m liking the picture, it’s all little seeds. Anything could happen between the three of them. I think Darren wants this second season to be really open-minded.”
“The way we left things, Gabriel is definitely more excited, or more intoxicated by the promise of going further down the road with Emily, that’s for sure,” Bravo added. “Because since she got here, so many amazing things unlocked for him, you know. But Camille is really strong-willed, she’s an amazing woman, and she could very well come back.”

  • Tobey Maguire Reportedly in Talks to Appear in 'Spider-Man 3' and 'Doctor Strange' Sequel

    Columbia Pictures

In addition to the ‘Great Gatsby’ actor, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ star Andrew Garfield is said to have entered talks to return for the follow-up to ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’.
    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ever since Jamie Foxx was reported to reprise his role as Electro in Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 3”, there has been speculation about a multiverse storyline that may allow the return of characters from previous Spider-Man film series. Now, Tobey Maguire has been added to the rambling talks about this multiverse theory.
We Got This Covered claims to have heard from a reliable source that “The Great Gatsby” actor has been in talks with Marvel Studios to appear not only in the follow-up to “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, but also in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
The site, however, doesn’t not mention if Maguire will reprise his role as Peter Parker from Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy or if he will portray a new character. The news, meanwhile, supports previous report by FandomWire, which claimed that both Maguire and Andrew Garfield are expected to return in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
According to the site, “Sony and Marvel are still finalizing a version of the script that features all three Spider-Men tackling many of their villains from the past, as well as new ones.” It was additionally noted that Maguire and Garfield have not signed just yet for the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel.

Foxx confirmed his return as Electro, which he played in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, earlier this month with a now-deleted post in which he shared a screenshot of an article about the casting news. He wrote in the caption, “Tell Spidey let’s run it back!… super excited to [be] part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment…”
The 52-year-old star additionally revealed that his villainous character will get a new look for the upcoming Spider-Man movie. “can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent bada**!!!” so he teased.
Around a week later, it was reported that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange would also appear in the film. He’s reportedly going to fill in a mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in “Far From Home”.
Cumberbatch’s own movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” itself is set to start shooting later this month in London and will be released after “Spider-Man 3”, so the web-crawler film could set up a multiverse story for the “Doctor Strange” sequel.
Jon Watts in board to direct “Spider-Man 3”, which is slated for a December 17, 2021 release, while “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is set to arrive on March 25, 2022. Interestingly, Raimi, who helmed the “Spider-Man” trilogy starring Maguire, will serve behind the lens for the new “Doctor Strange” installment.

  • Gal Gadot to Reunite With 'Wonder Woman' Director in New Cleopatra Biopic

    WENN/Nicky Nelson

Along with Patty Jenkins who is also serving as co-producer, the ‘Justice League’ actress recruits ‘Shutter Island’ screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis to pen its script.
    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Gal Gadot is reuniting with her “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins to tackle a real royal role as Cleopatra in a new historical biopic.
The two stars, who brought DC Comics superhero and Amazonian princess Wonder Woman to life on the big screen, will go back in time to Ancient Egypt for the period drama, simply titled, “Cleopatra (2021)”.
According to Deadline, Gadot came up with the idea and recruited “Shutter Island” screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis to pen the script and serve as executive producer, while the Israeli actress will co-produce with her husband and Pilot Wave Motion Pictures partner Jaron Versano, along with Jenkins.
The distribution rights to Cleopatra were at the centre of a bidding war, with Paramount Pictures studio chiefs emerging victorious as they closed the deal this weekend.
After the news broke online on Sunday, October 11, Gadot took to Instagram to gush about the passion project.

“I love embarking on new journeys, I love the excitement of new projects, the thrill of bringing new stories to life,” she began, alongside a screenshot of the Deadline article.
“Cleopatra is a story I wanted to tell for a very long time. Can’t be more excited and grateful about this A team !!”

However, the casting is met with backlash. “I don’t think Gal Gadot should play Cleopatra, but the room temp iq takes that Cleopatra was black when both Marc Anthony and Alexander the Great both said she was a faired skinned Greek is just the icing on the cake,” one of critics blasted the decision to have Gadot playing Cleopatra.
Elizabeth Taylor famously played Cleopatra in a 1963 drama of the same name, while other actresses to take on the role onscreen over the years include Vivien Leigh, Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, and Amanda Barrie.

AceShowbiz – Rising Irish actor Ruairi O’Connor has been tapped to bring rock icon Buddy Holly back to life onscreen in a planned biopic.
The “Spanish Princess” star was cast as the lead in “Clear Lake” after a six-month search, and is now tuning up his vocals to perform classics like “That’ll Be the Day”, “Not Fade Away”, and “Everyday” ahead of production in the spring (21).
Producer Rick French tells Variety, “We looked at hundreds and hundreds of audition tapes for the Buddy Holly role and interviewed some tremendously talented actors and musicians but Ruairi’s audition really stood out.”

“He’s a terrific young actor who exudes charisma and he’s also a very accomplished musician who our team believes can handle this very challenging role.”
“Driving Miss Daisy” filmmaker Bruce Beresford will direct the movie, which will chart Buddy’s life from the time he was a teenager up until the tragic plane crash that killed him at the tender age of 22 in Clear Lake, Iowa on 3 February, 1959.
The film will also focus on Holly’s groundbreaking 1958 “Biggest Show of Stars” trek with Clarence Collins, one of the first truly racially integrated tours in American history, as well as his marriage to Maria Elena Holly, who serves as associate producer on the project.
“I found myself attracted to Clear Lake because the script tells the tragic story of Buddy Holly and his era in fascinating detail and with vivid characterizations,” director Bruce said. “Needless to say, the added plus of all the wonderful music was also a major lure.”

    Oct 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Saturday Night Live” returned with a new episode on Saturday, October 10. The new episode of the long-running NBC comedy series featured stand-up comedian Bill Burr as the host opening up with simultaneous spoofs of the vice presidential debate and the movie “The Fly”, poking fun at Mike Pence’s infamous FlyGate.
Later on the “Weekend Update”, Colin Jost tackled President Donald Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis. He was then joined by “Dr. Wayne Weknowdis”, played by Kate McKinnon, who shared a second opinion on Trump’s medical examination.

She repeatedly said the phrase “we know this,” before eventually breaking her character. Both Kate and Colin laughed at the flub with the latter asking her, “Kate are you okay?” to which she replied, “Obviously, I’m not.”

“It’s such a crazy time and this is something I started doing to cope,” Kate added. “It’s refreshing to play a character who ‘know this.’ ” Later, Colin said, “I know that it’s very stressful. I know this is very hard right now. I know people are being very resilient about it. I know even though it doesn’t seem good, don’t worry. You can figure this out, we can do this.”
    [embedded content]
The episode also touched on J.K. Rowling’s controversial transphobic remarks. In one of the skits, cast member Pete Davidson called out the “Harry Potter” author for the scandal, calling it “very disappointing.” He remarked, “I got a Harry Potter tattoo years ago, ’cause I’m not psychic… I didn’t know J.K. Rowling was going to go all Mel Gibson on us.”
    [embedded content]
“I long for a few years ago when the worst things she did were those ‘Fantastic Beasts’ movies. No discrimination there, they harmed us all equally,” he went on saying. “What’s wrong with her? She creates a seven-book fantasy series about all types of mythical creatures living in harmony with wizards and elves and the one thing she can’t wrap her head around is Laverne Cox? She’s a national treasure!”
