  • George R.R. Martin Changes the Fate of 'Game of Thrones' Beloved Character

    WENN

Unlike what the tragic ending shown on the HBO TV show, the author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ will not kill one of the most beloved characters in his upcoming book.
    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – George R.R. Martin is changing the fate of one of “Game of Thrones” most beloved characters in his hit series of novels.
Fans of the HBO fantasy series were left devastated when Kristian Nairn’s Hodor perished in season six of the show, after being commanded to “hold the door” amid an attack from an army of undead ‘wights.’
His heroic actions allow Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) to escape but, according to James Hibberd, author of “Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones” and the “Official Untold Story of the Epic Series”, Martin is plotting a different fate for the character.
“As Game of Thrones fans know, the lovable, monoverbal Hodor (Kristian Nairn) perished in the season 6 episode ‘The Door’,” he writes. “The gentle giant was commanded to ‘hold the door’ and used his weight to block an exit as undead wights attacked, allowing Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) to escape.”

“I thought they executed it very well, but there are going to be differences in the book,” adds Hibberd. “They did it very physical – ‘hold the door’ with Hodor’s strength. In the book, Hodor has stolen one of the old swords from the crypt. Bran has been warging (transposing his consciousness) into Hodor and practicing with his body, because Bran had been trained in swordplay.”
“So telling Hodor to ‘hold the door’ is more like ‘hold this pass’ – defend it when enemies are coming – and Hodor is fighting and killing them. A little different, but same idea.”
For the show, however, co-producer Dave Hill explains the writers opted for a more literal approach to the command, explaining, “holding the door is visually better, especially because we have so much fighting.”
Release dates for the final two planned volumes of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” saga, “The Winds of Winter”, and “A Dream of Spring”, have yet to be confirmed.

  • Spike Lee Didn't Know Chadwick Boseman Was Battling Cancer When They're Filming 'Da 5 Bloods'

    Instagram/WENN

The director says he never knew his main actor was terminally ill during the filming of their war movie, ‘If I had known, I wouldn’t have made him do the stuff.’
    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Director Spike Lee had no idea Chadwick Boseman was battling colon cancer while shooting “Da 5 Bloods”, and put his sickly look down to the heat and conditions in the Thai jungle.
Like many people, the filmmaker was shocked when Boseman lost his life at the end of August (20), just a few months after “Da 5 Bloods” was released on Netflix, and now he reveals the “Black Panther” star gave no indication he was terminally ill during the shoot.
“I didn’t know Chad was sick,” Spike tells Variety. “He did not look well, but my mind never took that he had cancer.”

“It was a very strenuous shoot. I mean, we all didn’t get to Vietnam until the end of the movie at Ho Chi Minh City. But that other stuff, the jungle stuff, was shot in Thailand. It was 100 degrees every day. It was also, at that time, the worst air pollution in the world.”
But the filmmaker understands why Boseman didn’t come clean. “He didn’t want me to take it easy,” he adds. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have made him do the stuff. And I respect him for that.”
Opening up about the night he learned of Boseman’s death, Lee adds, “I went to bed early and the fact that I went to bed early, I woke up early. It must have been I was tired. I went to open my phone, and my phone – the whole thing had been blowing up. I turned it off. I was in shock.”
Spike has since watched “Da 5 Bloods” and admits it’s a very different film now that Boseman is dead, “It plays totally different. He’s a ghost already. You know the scene I’m talking about? It’s the scene where he comes back, him and Delroy (Lindo). I felt it when we shot it.”

    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dan Levy has hit out at officials from Comedy Central India for censoring a same-sex kiss in his hit show “Schitt’s Creek”.
The 37-year-old actor and writer shared a March, 2019 tweet from Comedy Central India, featuring a promo video from the fifth episode of the show’s fifth season, “Homecoming”.
The video features a house party scene with Levy’s character, David Rose, who kisses Ted Mullens (Dustin Milligan) during a game of spin the bottle. However, Comedy Central India cut that scene from their broadcast
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday (06Oct20), he fired, “You showed the kiss between two women, you showed the kiss between a woman and a man, then removed the kiss between two men?”

“This is a show about the power of inclusivity. The censorship of gay intimacy is making a harmful statement against that message,” he concluded with the hashtag, “#loveislove.”
Levy later clarified that his comments were directed towards Comedy Central India, not the flagship Comedy Central network, adding, “I thought I made this pretty clear but for those who are confused, this is about a channel in India.”
“@ComedyCentral in America is not censoring the show. They have been lovely and respectful. Thank you for your time,” he concluded, with the peace sign emoji and the upside down smiley face emoji.
Dan Levy added a slew of prestigious awards to his collection this year, thanks to his role on the show. He took home multiple trophies at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

  • 'Jurassic World: Dominion' Halts Production After Positive Covid-19 Tests

    Instagram

Director Colin Trevorrow reveals he was forced to shut down production of the next installment of the rebooted ‘Jurassic Park’ movie franchise due to positive coronavirus tests.
    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” director Colin Trevorrow has been forced to press pause on production for two weeks after a number of positive coronavirus tests on set.
Filming on the action blockbuster was initially shut down in March (20) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but resumed in the U.K. in July, under strict health and safety protocols.
In August, as the shoot moved to Malta, it was reported Trevorrow had to scale back his production plans after four crewmembers tested positive for the virus, and on Wednesday (07Oct20), he revealed the latest issue to affect the movie.
“Woke up to the news we had a few positive Coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion,” he told Twitter followers.

“All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we’re going to pause for two weeks. Back soon.”
Trevorrow has around three weeks of filming left before completing production on the sequel to 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The news emerges shortly after studio chiefs at Universal delayed the film’s launch by a year as they rejigged their release schedule – it will now hit theatres in June, 2022.
Film and TV industries have been struggling to adapt to post-coronavirus world since lockdown was first imposed earlier this year. Many projects were either pushed back or called off as the industry was brought to a standstill due to the worldwide pandemic.
Superhero movie “The Batman” as well as TV shows like “Riverdale”, “Batwoman”, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”, “Supergirl”, and “Chicago Med” are among those scrambling to adjust their filmings amid the health crisis.

  • Ian Ziering Calls Jessica Alba's No Eye Contact Claim 'the Stupidest Thing' He's Ever Heard

    WENN

The ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ actor insists he and fellow main cast members never banned anyone from making eye contact with them on set during their television heyday.
    Oct 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ian Ziering has hit out at Jessica Alba’s claim that she was instructed not to make eye contact with any of the stars on “Beverly Hills, 90210”.
The actress recently claimed she was instructed not to make eye contact with any of the cast members of the hit show when she starred as a pregnant teen on two episodes in 1998.
Addressing her allegations, Ian insisted the order would never have come from a member of the cast and was probably from a crew employee.
“I’m not doubting her but I doubt that it came from any cast member,” he told People. “Maybe it came from some third AD who decided to flex a little and said ‘Please don’t look at the actors.’ ”

Reflecting on what Jessica was told, he said, “That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”
Ian added that he’s also sure that none of his co-stars would have asked for something like that.
“Knowing the people that I’ve worked with my whole life, nobody would ever say that. It’s impossible to even wrap my head around anyone asking someone – particularly Jessica Alba – not to look at them,” he laughed.
Ian’s remarks come after his co-stars Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, and Tori Spelling also denied any knowledge of the request.
Tori recently said, “I’m not going to lie to you guys. I was a little horrified when I saw that clip that she said that she wasn’t allowed to make eye contact and she had an awful experience because her baby wipes are my favorite.”

  • 'DWTS': Anne Heche 'Stormed Off' the After Being 'Furious' Over Elimination

    Instagram

The ‘Volcano’ actress reportedly quickly drove off the studio lot after being sent home by the long-running ABC dancing competition show on Monday, October 5.
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Anne Heche is not happy with the results of the latest episode of “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday, October 5 which saw her and pro dancer Keo Motsepe getting eliminated. The actress reportedly was “furious,” prompting her to storm off the set.
According to Page Six, the ex-girlfriend of Ellen DeGeneres refused to do press after the episode concluded. The publication also claimed that she quickly drove off the studio lot after being sent home by the long-running ABC dancing competition show.
“Anne was not happy — she was furious,” a source shared to the site. “She drove off the lot and refused to do any press.”

In the episode, Anne was getting candid about her past relationship with Ellen which she claimed cost her a “multimillion dollar movie deal.” She told the site on Tuesday evening, “The honest truth is that it took 20 years to process and share that story, so finally, telling it and being voted off on the same night was not the best feeling.”
The “Volcano” star, who started dating Ellen for 3 years before breaking up in 2000, continued, “It did feel good to tell my story to show that we have come a long way, and we see things with more acceptance now – even though we are not all the way there yet, it’s important to recognize how far we have come.”
When the episode was upsetting for Anne, it was rather confusing for viewers and the show judges. That night, host Tyra Banks made a major mistake after announcing that “Cheer” star Monica Aldama and her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy were safe, only to clarify later that they were actually in the bottom two with Anne and Keo. “There has been an error in the control room. This is the craziness of live TV. I’m so sorry. This is live TV,” the supermodel explained.

AceShowbiz – “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss has been cast as former U.S. Congresswoman Katie Hill in a new adaptation of her memoir.
Moss will also produce the project, based on “She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality”, via her Love & Squalor Pictures company.
The book, released over the summer, chronicles Hill’s life as an inexperienced California politician and domestic abuse victim, whose career was shattered by the release of intimate photographs and allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a campaign staff member.

Announcing the casting news on Tuesday, October 6, Hill said, “I wrote ‘She Will Rise’ to try to take back my story from those who have exploited and twisted it. I also wanted to shine a light on the stories of women whose resilience and bravery gave me strength when I needed it most, and hopefully to provide inspiration to others.”
“Having this larger platform to tell this story, working with… the incredible Elisabeth Moss as the lead, is more than I ever could have imagined.”
Moss added, “I am so honoured to have the opportunity to portray Katie and to help tell her story. Her strength and work to amplify women’s voices is incredibly inspiring to me and her experiences could not be more important for us to magnify right now.”
Jason Blum from Blumhouse added, “We pursued this project because we believe in Katie and her message of empowering women and breaking the system. And with Elisabeth and the force of what she brings on and off the camera, we hope this will be a powerful vehicle to inspire and for change.
