  • Josh Brolin Gets Candid Why 'Deadpool' Was Hard if Compared to 'Avengers'

    20th Century Fox

The actor, who starred as Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ and Thanos in the ‘Avengers’ films, opens up about his different approach to the villain roles during an interview on ‘Team Deakins Podcast’.
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Josh Brolin found his bad guy role in the final “The Avengers” movies much more creatively fulfilling than playing the villain in the “Deadpool” sequel.
The actor, who starred as villains Cable and Thanos in “Deadpool 2” and the “Avengers” films, respectively, admits the former was a harder role because it felt like a “business transaction.”
“‘Deadpool’ was hard,” he told the “Team Deakins Podcast” on Tuesday (October 06). “Even though it was funny, it was harder. That was more of a business transaction. It was more, ‘We need to make this like this…’ I didn’t feel that way with ‘Avengers’.”
Brolin admits it was rewarding for him to team up with directors Anthony and Joe Russo for “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”, noting his role began as a minor part but quickly grew into something much bigger.

“When I said yes to ‘Avengers’, it was a small thing – it was a cameo,” he adds. “But when they came to me, they gave me a big bible (script).”

And Josh reveals he drew inspiration for Thanos from one classic acting performance in particular – Marlon Brando in “Apocalypse Now”.
“The fact that it was all the Avengers against this one guy, I liked that aspect of it,” he said. “The more I talked to the Russo brothers, I mentioned Brando in ‘Apocalypse Now’. I started seeing the parallel, which I liked for me.”
He also appreciated the way the filmmakers weaved in elements from classic screen roles. “They would constantly go back and reference ‘Scarface’ or ‘Dog Day Afternoon’,” he added. “Whether or not it was a manipulation, they knew what to throw out there to bring it back into something inspired.”

After taking a selfie together, the 39-year-old TV star seems to be satisfied with the result. “That’ great. Then I will Airdrop it to you. Do you know what Airdrop is?” she jokingly asks, to which David responds, “Sure” while making a face.

Back in season 2, the TV star’s husband Kanye West stopped by to get candid about their family and his bipolar disorder. He also addressed backlash for his support of President Donald Trump. Comparing it to bullying, the “Gold Digger” rapper said, “Have you ever been beat up in your high school for wearing the wrong hat? The idea is the bullying. Well, definitely liberals bully people who are Trump supporters. It’s not just calm. You can’t just go and wear the hat. It’s like, ‘F**k you! F**k you!’ It’s like bro, I have. In America, we have rights and we have rights to open the conversation.”

And she hopes to help her community by tackling issues not often talked about – like sexuality.
“Emily came out three years ago,” Gloria told “The Talk” on Tuesday, October 6, “and no one knows because we really never had the reason or opportunity to talk about how we dealt with it as a family.”
“It was important for her (Emily) to talk about it (on the new show) and it was important for us to put it on the table. We share so much of our personal lives and private lives through (social media) that we wanted to use it in a good way, a healing way.”

“Jurassic World: Dominion” had been filming since February of this year when the global pandemic shut down production of Hollywood movies in March. Filming resumed in July, with the cast and crew heading to London.

“Any reports indicating that ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ has halted production are categorically untrue,” said a spokesperson for the studio, without confirming nor denying the claim about the crew members who tested positive for coronavirus. “The production is in its fifth day of shooting today, and we’re thrilled to be back in front of the camera on this incredible project.”
“Jurassic World: Dominion” has Chris Pratt reprising his role as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard returning as Claire Dearing. The movie also brings back some of original stars from the “Jurassic Park” trilogy, including Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill and Laura Dern.

Talking about Monique, Porsha said, “She has to know her part, which I feel she has, but she doesn’t know if Candiace has owned her part yet. So for her to take the initiative to go ahead and do it first, it’s tough. And ya’ll are a tough crowd you have to admit that Gizelle [Bryant].”

The mom of one admitted that she might be able to relate to Monique. “Now in my situation, I felt provoked, and that’s a personal feeling. I personally felt provoked, and pushed to that level. Now Monique she may feel that way, as well,” she explained. “I just feel like in her case, it kind of built up, and I just feel like we shouldn’t judge her.”
Prior to this, Monique appeared to hint that she considered quitting “RHOP”. “There is no explanation behind what happened,” Monique told fellow Housewives while crying. “I’m not here to bash Candiace. I just want to talk about myself. What y’all saw is not who I am.” Monique also admitted that she was “embarrassed” and “ashamed of myself for my actions for even letting anybody get under my skin to a point where I would react that way.”
Recalling the fight, she said that “a glass goes into my face [and] I get to swinging” before she “completely blacked out.” However, Robyn Dixon called it “an absolute lie,” adding, “I’m telling you right now, that did not happen in that way. The reason you had red wine is from the velocity of the table of things flying everywhere.” Dr. Wendy Osefo also accused Monique of touching Candiace first.

  • Netflix Stands By 'Cuties' After Indicted in Texas for Lewd Depiction of Children

    Netflix

In response to the indictment, the streaming giant claims that critics are missing the point of the film, which is supposed to be ‘a social commentary against the sexualization of young children.’
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Netflix remains unfazed by the criticism leveled at it over its film “Cuties”. The streaming giant has continued to defend the controversial French movie after it’s dragged into a criminal courtroom in Texas over allegations of lewd depiction of children.
A Tyler County, Texas, grand jury indicted the streaming giant on September 23 for “knowingly promote visual material which depicts the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age at the time the visual material was created, which appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”
Lucas Babin, Tyler County District Attorney, said in a statement posted on the office’s official Facebook page that the summons was served on Netflix October 1 by Texas Rangers. The charge is a “state jail felony,” with CEOs Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos being named as defendants, according to the statement.

“The legislators of this state believe promoting certain lewd material of children has destructive consequences,” Babin added. “If such material is distributed on a grand scale, isn’t the need to prosecute more, not less? A grand jury in Tyler County found probably cause for this felony, and my job is to uphold the laws of this state and see that justice is done.”
In a response to the indictment, Netflix says that critics are missing the point of the film. ” ‘Cuties’ is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children,” it insists. “This charge is without merit and we stand by the film.”
“Cuties” sparked backlash even before its premiere due to a poster used to promote the coming-of-age drama. The artwork was deemed inappropriate as it featured its child stars posing in their dancing outfits. Netflix apologized for it and removed the poster, but continued to face criticism over hypersexualisation of pre-adolescent girls in the film.
The movie centers on a Senegalese-French girl with a traditional Muslim upbringing who is caught between traditional values and Internet culture. It nabbed Directing Award-Dramatic for filmmaker Doucoure at the Sundance Film Festival.

  • Wendy Williams Trolled for Her Wrong Pronunciation of Coronavirus

    BET

The 56-year-old TV talk show host gets people’s attention with her confusing way of pronuncing the novel virus while criticizing President Donald Trump’s tweet.
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Wendy Williams tackled President Donald Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis in the Tuesday, October 6 episode of her talk show. She could be seen criticizing POTUS for urging people not to be afraid of the disease. However, it was her way of pronouncing the word coronavirus that got people’s attention.
In his recent tweet when he announced that he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for COVID-19, Trump wrote, “Don’t be afraid of Covid.” However, instead of saying “COVID,” Wendy said, “Cronova,” when she read the tweet aloud in the episode.
Some people might initially think that it could have been a slip of the tongue until she said the same word for the second time. “We are here, out in the field. We are frightened of cronova,” so the 56-year-old mispronounced the term again.

Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long before Internet users made fun of her pronunciation of the novel virus. “Is Wendy Williams okay? What is CRONOVA?!” one confused fan wrote on Twitter. “no one: literally no one: wendy williams: don’t be afraid of cRoNoVa,” someone else trolled Wendy.
“We’ve been dealing with COVID for months. You don’t know how to pronounce Corona? Smh,” another user criticized the talk show host. “wendy williams calling covid cornova is the cultural moment that will heal us all,” one other opined.
“LRT: Wendy Williams twice pronouncing COVID as ‘CORNOVA’ has tears falling down my face laughing,” wrote one fan. Another person accused Wendy of being “high” during the filming, while someone else appeared to defend Wendy, writing, “WENDY does that to words she doesn’t like. If you know her radio years then you know she likes to revamp words.”
This is not the first time for Wendy to mispronounce things. She once referred to singer Dua Lipa as “Dula Peep.” The “New Rules” hitmaker, however, was all cool with the nickname. “It’s a full thing, it’s a thing now,” she said during her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” back in December 2019.
