  • Alec Baldwin Responds as He's Slammed for Mocking Trump on 'SNL' Amid President's Covid-19 Battle

    WENN

The ’30 Rock’ actor defends playing Donald Trump on the sketch show ‘Saturday Night Live’ over the weekend following the President’s Covid-19 diagnosis.
    Oct 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alec Baldwin has defended playing Donald Trump on the premiere of the new season of “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend (03-04Oct20) while the U.S. president battles coronavirus in hospital.
The 62-year-old portrayed the current POTUS on the show on Saturday, with his “Cold Open” sketch mocking the first presidential debate between Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
However, while Baldwin’s skits as Trump have been well-received in the past, Saturday’s episode was met with backlash from some viewers – due to the fact that the president is currently being cared for in hospital while battling Covid-19.

The star addressed the backlash in a lengthy video on his Instagram page on Sunday, in which he said, “If there was ever the suggestion that Trump was truly, gravely ill, and people said, ‘Trump is really in trouble,’ then I would bet you everything I have that we wouldn’t even get near that, in terms of content of the show. They would have done something else. I’ve seen that happen before.”
“We only have the words of the White House itself and the people who work there themselves to go on, and all of them have all been saying he isn’t in any danger. We only have their word to go by. And if their word was that he was in serious trouble, then we probably wouldn’t have done it.”
Insisting the chaotic debate formed the major part of the sketch and there were only a few references to the president’s illness, Baldwin continued, “We thought the debate was something topical and we didn’t have anything with him in a hospital bed, but we had the debate. You’d have to have a very good reason to avoid that, topicality-wise, and nobody thought that they were mocking somebody’s illness by doing that.”
Alec concluded by saying that while he’s no fan of the president, he’d never wish him harm.

  • 'The Walking Dead' Season 10 Finale: Maggie Returns as Final Battle With the Whisperers Takes Place

    AMC

In related news, Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie on the hit zombie drama, reveals in a new interview how she hopes the AMC series would conclude in upcoming season 11.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Walking Dead” aired its season 10 finale on Sunday night, October 4. Titled “A Certain Doom,” the episode was supposed to debut on April 12 before the production was forced to close down due to the coronavirus pandemic in March. The finale featured the final battle between our good guys and Beta’s (Ryan Hurst) horde.
It could be seen that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) joined forces to kill the Whisperers’ No. 2. Meanwhile, Carole (Melissa McBride) and Lydia (Cassady McClincy) tried to lead the Whisperers over the cliff.
The episode also featured a return of one of fan-favorite characters. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) made an appearance in a perfect timing to save Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) before reuniting with Judith (Cailey Fleming) and Gracie (Anabelle Holloway).
Fans rejoiced over Maggie’s return as one of them tweeted, “#TWD #TWDUniverse MAGGIE! MAGGIE! SHE COME THRU CLUTCH! SHE COME THRU CLUTCH! I MISSED HER!” Another excited fan added, “I’m so glad she’s back! #TheWalkingDead.”

Some others were praising Hurst’s acting in the finale. “Ryan Hurst’s performance is unbelievable,” one gushing comment read. Another fan wrote, “That was an excellent death for Beta #twd beta remembers alpha in his death.”
In related news, Cohan revealed in a new interview how she hoped “The Walking Dead” would conclude. “It would be really, really fun if we got to do a 40-year time jump,” she told NME. “You sort of peel back and start on a close-up of some very elderly hands and it takes a minute to figure out whose they are.”
She went on to say, “Once you realize whose [hands] they are, where they are and where the world is now and what that means and who’s with her… maybe it’s her final days. Maybe she doesn’t die by a zombie? That’s an idea.”
Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic books of the same name, “The Walking Dead” is set to end in 2022 with a bumper 11th season. However, won’t be off-air completely as AMC have already given a series order to a new spin-off, starring Reedus and Melissa, for an as-yet-untitled show. The spin-off is scheduled to premiere in 2023.

AceShowbiz – “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” has continued its filming. Months after the production of the upcoming Disney+ series was shut down due to COVID-19 concerns, it has been reported that the filming has resumed in Prague.

And again, if you have any questions about how long…direct your eyeballs to this article I wrote several weeks ago.”
This arrives after cast member Emily VanCamp, who reprises her role as Sharon Carter on the forthcoming series, confirmed that she wrapped filming on the show. In an Instagram post a few days ago, she shared a picture of her chair from the Georgia, Atlanta set. “That’s a wrap! To raise money for The Actors Fund, the leading man is joined by David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, Bebe Neuwirth and Dan Butler as they chat with Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – The cast of “Frasier” gave fans a taste of what a full reunion would look like after gathering for a Stars in the House virtual special on Saturday, October 3.
Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde-Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, Bebe Neuwirth, and Dan Butler teamed up to chat with Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley for their latest livestream event, staged to raise money for The Actors Fund.
It was the second time the Frasier cast had gathered for the Stars in the House initiative – they reunited online earlier this year.
The sitcom, which ran for 11 seasons between 1993 and 2004, is heading for a comeback with Grammer revealing a revamp is in development.
Gilpin, who helped organise Saturday’s hour-long get together, said, “It was easy. Everyone was like, ‘Yes, let’s go! Let’s do it!’.”

The former castmates answered a series of questions from fans and Grammer revealed he claimed the piano that was a fixture in his character’s apartment when the show wrapped.
“I did have to pay Steinway for it,” the actor said. “They gave it to us, but when I said I wanted it, they said, ‘Well, that’ll be a pile of a thousand dollars…’ I’ve got it sitting in the house in Palm Springs… It’s quite a conversation piece.”
His TV brother, Hyde-Pierce, confessed he paid for his wardrobe from the show.
In addition to paying tribute to late co-star John Mahoney, who played the Crane brothers’ father, Martin, the cast also talked about Moose, the Jack Russell terrier who played Martin’s dog Eddie, who passed away in 2006. “And then there was one finally where all he had to do was coming running in from the bedroom with a Barbie doll in his mouth,” said Pierce. “And he came running in and went completely insane — this was in front of a live audience while we’re filming — and ran through every trick he had learned for the last five episodes. He just like short-circuited. So they took a step back after that.”

  • 'SNL': Season 46 Premiere With Jim Carrey as Joe Biden Is Most Watched In 4 Years

    NBC

The season premiere, which features Megan Thee Stallion as musical guest, is also the second most-watched for the series in 12 years following the premiere prior to the 2016 election.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Saturday Night Live” made a grand return with season 46 on October 3. The season premiere, which featured Jim Carrey as Joe Biden while Chris Rock was hosting, was reportedly the most-watched episode in 4 years.
According to Deadline, over 7.7 million viewers tuned into the episode which arrived exactly one month before the 2020 election on November 3. The episode is also the second most-watched for the series in 12 years following the premiere prior to the 2016 election. Additionally, it marked the most-watched entertainment telecast of the week.
Featuring Maya Rudolph reprising her role as Joe’s running mate Kamala Harris, one of the skits in the episode tackled the most recent presidential debate. It also referenced to Donald Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis with Alec Baldwin’s Trump pulling out his “mask” which transpired to be a pair of underwear.

“Will you just shut up, man?” Carrey’s Biden imitated the Democrat’s now-famous retort to the president from the real debate. He also made a reference to Trump’s “dog whistle” comments on white supremacism and Proud Boys. “The president of the United States is literally blowing a dog whistle,” he said.
In addition, the episode saw Megan Thee Stallion serving as musical guest. While performing her song “Savage”, the 25-year-old rapper had a message written across the screen behind her, slamming Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and his handling of the investigation into Breonna Taylor’s death. “Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout Negroes that sold our people into slavery,” the message directed at the black Republican state leader read.
Megan also took time to advocate for the protection of black women and men in America, insisting, “We need to protect our black women and love our black women. ‘Cause at the end of the day, we need our black women. We need to protect our black men and stand up for our black men. ‘Cause at the end of the day we’re tired of seeing hashtags of our black men.”

  • Tom Cruise Filming 'Mission: Impossible 7' Stunt on Moving Train

    Paramount Pictures

The Ethan Hunt depicter is seen in footage taken by a local bystander perching on top of a train cutting across the Norwegian countryside while being joined by some crew members.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise has once again proven that he’s giving it all for the next “Mission: Impossible” movie. The actor has been caught on camera filming a high-risk stunt for “Mission: Impossible VII”, which has been in production in Norway.
New set videos taken by local bystanders show the Ethan Hunt depicter filming an epic stunt on a moving train that’s cutting across the Norwegian countryside. In footage shared by a Twitter user, the 58-year-old is seen waving to the camera while perching atop the train and joined by several crew members.
Cruise’s co-star Hayley Atwell apparently also took part in the filming of the action stunt as she shared on Instagram her picture and a video showing the view from the moving train. “Oh hi everyone, didn’t see you there,” he caption the image and footage. “here’s Norway in all its splendour. #setlife #missionimpossible yes, I’m standing on top of a train. #fitforpurpose.”

Director Christopher McQuarrie also teased what the scene would look like in the film. In a picture of the said scene, Cruise is featured having a duel with a guy on the train with harnesses attached to their waists to keep them save. Crew members are filming the scene atop the train while a helicopter, possibly also used to film the scene, is seen hovering nearby.
McQuarrie shared the image to mark the end of filming in the country. “Norway’s scale and beauty have left an indelible and defining imprint on our film and reminded us that anything is possible,” he wrote in the caption.

“On behalf of everyone working on Mission: Impossible, our sincerest thanks to The Norwegian Film Incentive, The Norwegian Railway Museum, the infinitely patient Strand and Rauma Municipalities, our endlessly enduring Norwegian crew, along with everyone who supported our filming here,” he continued. “And, of course… The Mountain.”
The filmmaker added, “Most of all, we give thanks to the warm and welcoming people of Norway. Your kindness and consideration are nothing less than an inspiration. We’ll miss you dearly and look forward to seeing you again.”
“Tusen hjertelig takk,” he wrote in Norwegian, which means “Thank you a lot”. He then revealed their next destination for the filming, concluding the message with, “Buckle up, Roma. Here we come… #MI7MI8.”

Last month, Cruise filmed another death-defying stunt for the movie as he’s seen riding a motorbike on a massive ramp in with a long drop to the bottom at the end of it in the middle of a mountainside scenery in Norway. He’s riding it on full speed before going off the ramp.
“Mission: Impossible VII” is set to arrive on November 19, 2021. Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson (II) and Vanessa Kirby also star in the upcoming installment of the action film series.
