  • Robert Pattinson 'Weirdly Enjoys' the Prospect of Messing Up 'The Batman'

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Instead of feeling pressured by the Caped Crusader role, the ‘Twilight’ alum ‘weirdly enjoys’ the possibility of messing up his superhero portrayal in the upcoming DC movie.
    Sep 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Batman” star Robert Pattinson isn’t fazed by the prospect of messing up the role – in fact, he “weirdly enjoys” it.
The actor is set to debut as the Caped Crusader in the forthcoming 2021 flick and, speaking to Total Film magazine, he admits the idea that he can screw things up strangely excites him.
“I weirdly enjoyed it during Twilight, the idea that you can mess it up. I guess I felt confident. I wanted to be on the big stage,” Robert shares. “There’s a slightly different feeling when you know loads and loads of people are going to watch something you’re working on.”

He adds that “The Batman” is “not an origin tale, and you’re meeting him in the early days. And for me, what’s really important about this iteration is that you know a lot of the other stories are about how he had to master his fear and master himself in order to become Batman. And that in that Batman state, he’s sort of in his best self.”
“I hope what’s different about what we’re doing is try and do it in exactly that sort of manner and then of course the other things that are from the earlier history of the context of him being the world’s greatest detective and how we got there,” he says.
Production on “The Batman” recently resumed, two weeks after reports emerged that the leading man had tested positive for Covid-19 and the set had been shut down.
Filming was previously halted for almost six months in March (20) due to the pandemic, with director Matt Reeves revealing he had only shot a quarter of the movie.

Corrin as Princess Diana is also shown during her troubled marriage to Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son Prince Charles, with pictures of her being hounded by paparazzi, at a gala event with her husband, and meeting her one-time love rival, now Charles’ wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall – who is played by Emerald Fennell.

  • Gabrielle Union Reaches Deal With NBC Bosses to Settle 'AGT' Row

    Instagram

The former judge of ‘America’s Got Talent’ has reportedly reached a settlement with network bosses over her highly-publicized departure from the talent show.
    Sep 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gabrielle Union has reached a deal with NBC network bosses over her “America’s Got Talent” discrimination and misconduct claims.
The actress was fired from her judging role on the competition show last year (19) after just one season, and claimed she was let go after complaining about behind-the-scenes comments and experiences.
Union and NBC bosses met up in December (19) to thrash things out and the TV chiefs agreed to conduct an investigation, following which they declared they had uncovered no wrongdoing and had closed the case.
But now they’ve come to an “amicable resolution” with the actress.
“NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect,” a statement reads.

Details of the deal have not been disclosed but Deadline sources claim Union has received “significant” compensation.
The actress recently revealed her exit from “America’s Got Talent” was one of the hardest things she’s ever dealt with.
During a Minding Her Business panel discussion at the virtual American Black Film Festival in August (20), she compared the drama to a “public flogging.”
“That whole process was really brutal and knowing that I brought my team into that, it just sucked.”
In June, she filed a harassment complaint against NBC, claiming the network’s entertainment chief, Paul Telegdy, tried to silence her reports of racism. Union called NBC “a snake pit of racial offences” and later alleged that representatives for the organisation had threatened her agent.

    Sep 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – James Cameron is glad he chose to film his “Avatar 2” sequels in New Zealand, because he was able to complete the films amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The “Titanic” filmmaker revealed during the 2020 Austrian World Summit on Sunday, September 27, that “Avatar 2” is complete, while the third instalment is nearly finished, despite having to shut down production due to the global health crisis in March and only starting up again in June.
“COVID hit us like it hit everybody,” he said. “We lost about four and a half months of production. As a result of that, we’ve rolled around one more full year for a release in December of 2022. That’s been announced already.”
Cameron continued, “Now that doesn’t mean I have an extra year to finish the film because the day we deliver ‘Avatar 2’, we’ll just start working on finishing ‘Avatar 3’. So where we are right now, I’m down in New Zealand shooting, we’re shooting the remainder of the live-action. We’ve got about 10% left to go. We’re 100% complete on ‘Avatar 2’ and we’re sort of 95% complete with ‘Avatar 3.’ ”

“We’re 100 per cent complete on ‘Avatar 2’ and sort of 95 per cent complete on ‘Avatar 3’,” Cameron said during the virtual event.
“We’re very lucky in that we chose this (New Zealand) as our production site years ago. We made the first film here in New Zealand and it turns out to be ranking first or second best country in the world for its COVID response.”
He added, “We’re able to operate. We’re able to shoot and have a more or less normal life here. We were very fortunate, so I don’t see any roadblocks to us getting the picture finished, getting both pictures finished.”

  • Meek Mill's Commitment to Acting Debut Put Under Spotlight by 'Charm City Kings' Director

    WENN/Instar

Angel Manuel Soto points out why he believes the ‘Going Bad’ rapper was able to relate to the story, while producer Caleeb Pinkett notes the importance of the MC’s music to the dirt bike culture film.
    Sep 29, 2020

Rapper Meek Mill will make his major acting debut in a new movie all about the urban dirt bike scene in Baltimore, Maryland.
“Charm City Kings” director Angel Manuel Soto and producer Caleeb Pinkett snapped up the “All Eyes on You” hitmaker as soon as he was released from prison in 2018 after serving time for violating probation, and also sold the hip-hop star on providing music for the film.
“He came back and adapted really well to the realities of the character,” the filmmaker tells WENN. “His struggles and challenges helped the performance and the whole film, because of his commitment to the story. Meek totally delivered. That also speaks to the genius of Caleeb in seeing potential in someone who never acted before.”

“The character of Blax could have been played many different ways, but we were able to construct the character a bit based on what Meek has gone through. Blax wants to do better and prove himself after doing bad stuff, and I think that speaks to Meek too, and how he can relate to the story. He taps into something deep inside himself and delivers a phenomenal performance.”
Pinkett adds, “Because Meek has a past, and because of the things he’s been through, he’s perfect for the film, since he represents that world. Meek really does ride, and he makes the music for that culture. In many ways, casting Meek Mill in this film is like what John Singleton did in 1991 by casting Ice Cube as the character Doughboy in ‘Boyz n the Hood’. Ice Cube was the biggest gangsta rapper in the world at that time, so his very presence made that film authentic.”
The producer insists Meek’s music was also a big part of the film. “The music for this movie has to be the music of the streets,” he explains. “The music is another part of this film that elicits emotion. Swizz Beatz, and now Meek Mill, made the music that is so crucial to this culture. Swizz of course created the sound for the dirt bike culture back in 1998, producing DMX’s song “Ruff Ryders Anthem”. I put that song at the end of the movie over the sequence of real riders doing stunts, because that’s what started it all. And now, Meek Mill is the new voice of that culture.”

And the “Last Christmas” star points out criticism about politically incorrectness in films can restrict creativity.
“In this day and age of being PC, do you think that restricts art or creation? Because we have to pander to people who perhaps don’t want racist words to be on screen or projected from someone’s mouth; but in reality it’s what happens,” he explains. “Are gangsters going to be nice to each other just because they don’t want to hurt each other’s feelings? I don’t think so.”
