  • 'Black Widow' and 'Eternals' Get New 2021 Release Date As Result of COVID-19 Crisis

    Marvel Studios

Also dealing with huge shifts after the pandemic shut down cinemas and Hollywood are Disney’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’.
    Sep 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Marvel’s “Black Widow” and “The Eternals” movies have become the latest projects to join the COVID-19 merry-go-round with huge release schedule shifts.
Disney bosses have opted to shelve Scarlett Johansson’s stand-alone Black Widow spin-off for another six moths and the blockbuster will now hit cinemas in May, 2021 – a year after its initial release date before the global health crisis shut down cinemas and Hollywood.
This is the second tim for “Black Widow” to be delayed. Back in March, the studio announced that the much-anticipated movie was postponed due to coronavirus pandemic, though it didn’t reveal a new premiere date at the time. Also being delayed in the March statement were “The Personal History of David Copperfield” and “The Woman in the Window”.

Meanwhile, “The Eternals” will move from February, 2021 to November 5, 2021, and Disney’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will budge from May to July, 2021.
Also making moves this autumn and winter are Kenneth Branagh’s latest Agatha Christie adaptation, “Death on the Nile”, which slides from October to December 18.
And the release of Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” has been postponed for a full year – instead of hitting cinemas on December 18, the movie musical will now be released on December 10, 2021.
Disney hoped that things would go back normal in 2021. “We’ve got a pretty robust slate through 2021,” Disney’s chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, told a group gathered at the Bank of America Virtual 2020 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference last week. “We hope theaters are open, and we hope our films are films that for the people who choose to go to movie theaters, the experience of going to a theater is very different from what you would have at home.”

During a chat on ‘Pop Shop Podcast’, the ‘Waitress’ star has also spilled on how she’s been keeping herself entertained during the lockdown caused by the novel coronavirus.
    Sep 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sara Bareilles has no doubt that Broadway will survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the coronavirus swept the world, shows in New York were shuttered – while productions in London’s West End and elsewhere around the globe were also shut down.
There has been numerous questions about whether or not the theater world will survive throughout the pandemic, but “Waitress” star Sara told Billboard’s “Pop Shop Podcast” that it’s just a case of when they can reopen.
“Man, it is just a staggering blow to this community that is so vital, I mean, to New York City,” Sara said of the pandemic’s effect on Broadway. “But I also think about friends in London, you know, in the West End, that’s another community that’s just devastated by this.”

“I have no doubt in my mind that it will come back. There’s not even a question mark to me about whether or not the theatre community will revitalize and find a new life. To me, it’s a question of when.”
As for how she’s been keeping herself entertained during the pandemic and the lockdown, Sara revealed she and her boyfriend, former “Waitress” co-star Joe Tippett, have been binging on superhero and fantasy movies.

“I think it was kind of one of those things where you’re like, ‘OK, we’re in in a pandemic, we’re in a lockdown. We’re gonna spend a lot of time indoors. Let’s go through…’ We did the ‘Harry Potter’ movies. Then we got onto the Marvel movies. And we did ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movies. We did a lot of fantasy. That’s been really soothing in a weird way,” she smiled.

AceShowbiz – Demi Moore and Shana Feste’s hit erotic podcast drama “Dirty Diana” is to be adapted for TV with the “Ghost” star as its lead.
Amazon bosses have picked up the project, which has been adapted by Feste and her podcast collaborator Jennifer Besser. Shana will also direct the venture, according to Deadline.

“Dirty Diana” was an instant hit after it premiered over the summer.
Moore starred in the podcast alongside Carmen Ejogo, Mackenzie Davis, Max Greenfield, Claes Bang, Penelope Ann Miller and Jon Tenney, while Gwendoline Christie, Lena Dunham, Melanie Griffith, Andrea Riseborough, Lili Taylor and Lesley Ann Warren all had cameos.
The “G.I. Jane” actress, who also produced the “Dirty Diana” podcast, played the titular Diana, who secretly runs an erotic website of women’s most intimate fantasies.
She raved about the series when it debuted, telling Variety, “If we don’t encourage getting to know your body and how it works, and equally how both sides work, then there’s automatically going to be a disconnect. There’s that whole group of people that want to encourage abstinence, as if that is the answer and as opposed to education. Education doesn’t mean you’re encouraging reckless, indiscriminate behavior.”
“I’ve always said men figure it out for themselves, and they know how they work, but what helps them to know how a woman works? I mean, we don’t know. We need a little help learning how to finesse that as well.”

  • Liv Tyler Opts Out of '9-1-1: Lone Star' After One Season Over COVID-19 Travel Concerns

    20th Century Fox

Co-creator and executive producer Tim Minear claims that the door will always be open for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ actress’ return as paramedic Emergency Medical Services captain Michelle Blake.
    Sep 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liv Tyler won’t return for the second season of hit U.S. drama “9-1-1: Lone Star” due to COVID-related travel concerns.
The actress portrayed a paramedic Emergency Medical Services captain, opposite Rob Lowe, on the TV series, which debuted earlier this year and she was planning to reprise the character for a second season.
But she has opted not to risk her health and travel from London, where she lives with her family, to Los Angeles and back to film the show.

TV bosses tell Deadline her role will not be recast in the hope that Liv’s character will return in the future.
“What a thrill it was having a movie star of Liv Tyler’s stature to help us launch the first season of ‘911: Lone Star’,” series co-creator and executive producer Tim Minear tells the outlet. “We loved working with Liv and will be forever indebted to her for her haunting, powerful portrayal of Michelle Blake. While we were able to tell a complete chapter in Michelle’s story… there are more stories to be told. The door here will always be open for a return.”
The news comes days after it was announced Gina Torres is joining the show as a Paramedic Captain.
The uncertainty surrounding travel amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has reportedly made it difficult for Tyler to continue working on the “9-1-1” spin-off. She lives in London with her partner and children, including a 5-year-old and a 4-year-old. In the last season, her kids joined her in L.A. during vacations and she went back and forth at the other time so that she wasn’t being away from her children for long.

  • Michael Jai White Doubts Jamie Foxx Befits Mike Tyson Role in Biopic

    WENN

The ‘Spawn’ star, who has portrayed the boxing legend in 1995’s HBO movie ‘Tyson’, has some reservations about Foxx’s physical transformation for the upcoming film.
    Sep 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Michael Jai White has thrown a subtle shade at Jamie Foxx ahead of the latter’s portrayal of Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic. Having played the former boxing champion in 1995’s HBO movie “Tyson”, the 52-year-old actor has weighed in on the forthcoming movie starring Foxx as the retired athlete.
Speaking to VladTV, the “Spawn” star cast his doubt that the “Django Unchained” actor would be able to pull off portraying the former world heavyweight champion. His reservations mostly came from Foxx’s physical transformation, which he deemed not up to standards to channel the former heavyweight boxer.
“If there’s another angle that Jamie’s pulling out then, hey that’s cool. That’s a helluva undertaking for him,” said White in an interview. When Vlad mentioned that Foxx has “bulked up” for the role, White insinuated that the pictures of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” star which have been circulating online cannot be trusted.
“I don’t believe a lot of stuff in pictures, ’cause when I see him-we’ve got a lot of friends in common. When I see him it’s like, ‘Did he just lose weight to catch this flight?’ ” he said. Noting that he’s “not going to disparage anything,” he added, “but you kinda know how-it’s clickbait.”

White went on noting that bulking up to gain muscle like Tyson in such a short time can pose to be a serious health issue. While he was able to do it for the TV movie, he was unsure if Foxx could handle the physical demands.
    [embedded content]
The still-untitled Mike Tyson biopic has been in development since 2014. Earlier this year, Foxx confirmed that the project is finally happening, with him teasing his transformation for the role during Mark Birnbaum’s Instagram Live series “Catching Up With Mark Birnbaum” in June.
“Every other day, I do 60 pull-ups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 push-ups,” Foxx said of his preparation for the movie. While his fitness routine has already changed the upper half of his body, the Academy Award-winning actor revealed that they would still need CGI and prosthetic to complete his transformation.
“I ain’t got no calf muscles, so we’re gonna have to get some prosthetics for that,” he shared. He added that he aimed to be 216lbs when filming starts as he plays a younger version of the boxer, and then he will “balloon to 225, 230 which will look like 250 on screen.”
