  • Zendaya's Fans Slam Publication for Dubbing Her Emmy Win 'Biggest Upset'

    Instagram

While the word ‘upset’ could mean that the ‘Euphoria’ actress, who is the younger actress to win best lead actress in a drama series, is an underdog who takes home the trophy, fans still criticize New York Post.
    Sep 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zendaya Coleman is still in the celebratory spirit after taking home the best lead actress in a drama series trophy at the 2020 Emmy Awards for her role as Rue Bennett on “Euphoria” and fans won’t let anyone ruin it for her. So, when some people appear to try to dismiss her achievement, her fans won’t hesitate to attack.
When others are praising Zendaya for it, New York Post’s coverage appeared to be criticizing the victory. “Biggest upset: Zendaya wins Emmys 2020 over Jennifer Aniston, Laura Linney,” so the publication wrote on Twitter.

New York Post’s coverage on Zendaya’s Emmy win enraged fans.
The shade didn’t go unnoticed by the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” actress’ fans. While the word “upset”could mean that Zendaya was an underdog who took home the trophy, fans still criticized the publication. “I know what context they are using the word ‘upset’ but was it really an upset? Zendaya and Euphoria was all anyone was talking about all year,” one fan pointed out. Trying to prove something, another user wrote, “rt if you were NOT upset.”

“Who is upset exactly? Because it’s not me,” someone else chimed in. “Zendaya’s fans aren’t mistaking the meaning. We understand the subtext of the term. We are not upset that she won the Emmy award because we saw her performance. You are using the word to mean that she was the underdog. We always viewed our Queen as the front runner in the race,” another added.
In other news, Zendaya’s rumored ex-boyfriend and “Euphoria” co-star Jacob Elardi broke his silence on her winning. Taking to his Instagram account, Jacob captioned a picture of Rue, “Congratulations captain. Bravo.” He concluded his messages with two heart emojis.

Jacob Elordi congratulated Zendaya on her Emmy win.
Jacob’s message joined a plethora of supportive social media messages from other “Euphoria” cast members, including Storm Reid and Hunter Schafer. Also among those who congratulated Zendaya over her first Emmy win, which made her the youngest actress to win the category, were Maude Apatow and Barbie Ferreira.

  • Alden Ehrenreich: Negative Box Office Coverage of 'Solo' Is Really Dangerous

    Walt Disney Pictures

Weighing in on the stories about the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off’s earnings, the young Han Solo depicter reminds that while the movie didn’t do as well as others, it still did well.
    Sep 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Solo: A Star Wars Story” star Alden Ehrenreich has fired back at the negative coverage of the film’s box office earnings, calling such industry stories “dangerous.”
The “Star Wars” spin-off, which featured the actor as a young Han Solo, grossed $392 million (£306 million) globally, but critics branded the movie a flop because the success didn’t match that of other films in the sci-fi franchise.
“That movie, it didn’t do as well as other ‘Star Wars’ movies, but it still did well for a movie,” the actor told Total Film. “It was kind of this medium thing – but that’s not newsworthy.”

“Even at high-level journalism, there’s an intense pressure, sometimes, it feels like, to catastrophise or celebrate… And I think that’s really f**king dangerous, especially when it pertains to the stuff that really matters, like the state of the world… I just think we really have to take a step back, and give a lot more thought to the way our emotions are being run by the stories we’re getting inundated with.”
“Solo”, which was directed by Ron Howard, received mixed responses upon its release in 2018, with some saying that it shouldn’t even be made in the first place. However, that negative perception is starting to change a little bit after the movie is streamed on Disney+.
And Ehrenreich is grateful for that, saying, “For it to be able to be seen would take a second [viewing]. And I think that’s borne itself out. And it really means a lot, and is wonderful, especially with kids, who are excited about it.”

The lawyers are chasing an injunction on the film and seeking a wide range of damages, including all the money the defendants made from the movie, insisting they had access to “three ‘Churchill’ scripts prepared by Mr. Kaplan,” dating from May 2013 to December 2014.

    Sep 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Dan Levy has teased a potential “Schitt’s Creek” movie following the show’s incredible success at Sunday’s (September 21) Emmy Awards.
The programme swept the awards ceremony – taking home honours for its stars Daniel and his dad Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy. Daniel also won gongs for his writing and directing work on the Canadian TV show, sharing the latter with Andrew Cividino.
While the show came to its official end earlier this year with the airing of season three, fans are still clamouring for more of the Rose family and their antics in “Schitt’s Creek” – leading to speculation that a big-screen adventure could be in the pipeline.

However, Daniel played coy when asked about the potential for a film, telling Variety: “If there is an idea that pops into my head it has to be really freaking good because this is a nice way to say goodbye. Fingers crossed we get a nice idea popping into our head soon….I would love to work with these people again.”

As for the programme’s success at the Emmys, Daniel – who had gathered with his co-stars for a watch party and celebration in Canada – gushed: “What an absolutely unbelievable way to end our series, I don’t think you could ever ask for a better conclusion than tonight, we are absolutely thrilled.”
During the backstage interview, cast member and Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara also talked about which wig would Moira wear to the Emmys. “For the premiere Moria went with her own look, because when it’s a serious moment and there’s no facade needed, Moria lets herself show,” she said. “For me I guess it would have been the big pink thing.”

In season 7 premiere of the daytime talk show, co-host Loni Love also addresses Amanda and Tamera Mowry’s exit and promises that the new season will be ‘amazing.’
    Sep 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Real” former co-host Amanda Seales wasn’t a fan of the talk show’s season 7 premiere on Monday, September 21. Taking to her Instagram account, Amanda called out the show for ripping off her game show “Smart Funny & Black” for its new segment called “Black Lives Matter University”.
In the post, Amanda pointed out the similarities between her show and the segment, which saw contestants answering questions related to Black and pop culture. Sharing a screenshot of the episode featuring Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Bailon and new co-host Garcelle Beauvais, Amanda wrote in the caption, “Once again therealdaytime demonstrates its low class and even lower vibration.”
“Just so we’re clear, this is an EGREGIOUS bite of my ‘Smart Funny & Black’ brand in an attempt to bring black awareness into the programming of The Real,” she continued. “They couldn’t find ANY OTHER WAY to do this without it being a bite of my creation.”

She added, “Yes, I’m saying this on social media because the CONTINUED thievery of black people’s work (even when supported by other BIPOC) needs to be called the F out and also because this is the most energy I’ll give it before going on with my day and creating more dopeness that will inevitably be pilfered by the less talented/ethical/ancestrally connected individuals of our species. Happy Monday. VOTE!” Concluding her rant, Amanda wrote, “[Knowing networks, they did this bcuz they knew I’d post and it would boost ratings.]”

In the episode, Loni also addressed Amanda and Tamera Mowry’s exit from the show. “Tamera Mowry-Housley is a founding member of ‘The Real’ and while we hated seeing her go, we were so excited that she will spend more time with her family and return to her first love of acting,” she explained. “She’ll be back soon to drop in and we look forward to that. We also had our girl Amanda Seales join us for a short time and we wish Amanda the very best in her future endeavors as well.”
“Here at ‘The Real’, we are women who choose to work together,” the comedian went on to say. “Our show is still the only panel on television with all women of color. And at this time in our country, we need as many diverse voices as possible on the air and making decisions behind the scenes, like our show has always done that.” Loni also promised that season 7 will be an “amazing season” as “we will be bolder, stronger, and realer than ever before.”

The special segment at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards has also left out ‘Mythbusters’ star Grant Imahara, ‘Monty Python’ co-creator Terry Jones and horror icon Sid Haig among others.
    Sep 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Fans took to Twitter to blast the omission of Kelly Preston, Kobe Bryant and Nick Cordero from the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards’ In Memoriam segment on Sunday, September 20.
As usual, the Emmy Awards honored icons that the television world has lost over the past year, such as Chadwick Boseman and Naya Rivera, in their touching highlight reel. However, some fans were left disappointed that a few big names were noticeably absent, particularly Preston, Bryant and Cordero.
Athlete Bryant – who tragically died in a helicopter crash on 26 January alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others – was a mainstay on television during his years-long career. And with the virtual ceremony taking place at The Los Angeles Staples Center, the home of his famous team the Los Angeles Lakers, also popularly known as “the house that Kobe built” – his exclusion ruffled feathers.
“Surprised that they left #KobeBryant out of the In Memoriam segment. Granted, he wasn’t really part of the television industry, but as an NBA star, he still had a strong presence on television. #Emmys,” tweeted one fan.

Kobe Bryant’s fan expressed disappointment over his omission from Emmy Awards’ In Memoriam segment.
“What! No #KobeBryant #inmemoriam? He was on TV all the time! #Emmys #Emmy,” another added.

As well as his roles onstage he’d also had several prominent roles in numerous TV shows, including recurring roles on “Blue Bloods” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, which many fans pointed out.
Meanwhile, Preston’s exclusion was met with surprise. The actress – who also died in July after a private battle with cancer – was best known for her film roles, as well as her romance with “Pulp Fiction” star John Travolta.
However, many fans were left stunned the star who had many roles on the small screen didn’t get a mention in the lengthy segment, with one fan tweeting, “Did you folks just snub Kelly Preston?”

A fan slammed the Emmys for leaving Kelly Preston out of its In Memoriam segment
Other celebrities left out included “Mythbusters” star Grant Imahara, Monty Python co-creator Terry Jones and horror icon Sid Haig, as was two-time Oscar winner and Emmy nominee Olivia de Havilland.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Emmy bosses acknowledged that not every celebrity who has died this year would be featured in their tribute, citing time constraints. An extensive In Memoriam tribute is listed on their website, with Cordero and Preston both included but Bryant still notably absent.
