  • Eve Believes Her Hardcore Party Period Led to Cancellation of Her Namesake Sitcom

    WENN

During an episode of her ‘Uncensored’ series, the ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’ hitmaker admits she should have slowed down and focused on her career instead of trying to hold onto her clubbing lifestyle.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rapper Eve is convinced excessive partying led to the demise of her namesake sitcom.
The “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” hitmaker admits she now regrets her clubbing lifestyle when her eponymous show aired from 2003 to 2006, insisting admitting she should have slowed down and focused on her career.
“Having my own sitcom was everything… it was pressure, it was fun, it was stressful, it was amazing,” Eve revealed during an episode of her series “Uncensored”. “I was the youngest at the time of the cast (sic), and a lot of them were just getting married, just buying their first house or, like, just having babies. I was still going to the club, trying to get to set at 9 A.M. Trying to get to a table read…”

Eve went on to explain she couldn’t keep up with the strict production schedule of her show because of all the late nights. “When the show ended, it was definitely heartbreaking, because at that time we had done three seasons and we were family at this point,” she recalled. “I do believe a lot of it had to do with the fact that I was trying to kinda straddle both sides of my life. Still trying to hold on to kinda hanging out. And I was late a lot. That’s not cool.”

Eve regrets that hardcore party period and wishes she had been more responsible.
“I do think a lot of it (Eve show cancellation) had to do with my actions at that time, and I do think about it sometimes,” she lamented. “When I look back on it, I’m like, ‘Wow!’ I don’t believe in regrets, but that is one time in my life where I feel like I wish I would have taken it a little more seriously than I did.”

  • Matthew Vaughn Claims the Making of 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' Gave Him Panic Attack

    Instagram

When talking about the most pressure he ever had in his life, the ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ director recalls being threatened by real-life thugs about their parts in the 1998 crime comedy.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Matthew Vaughn suffered a panic attack while producing “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” as real-life thugs threatened to bring the pain if he cut them out of the film.
The 1998 movie was a huge hit that propelled Vaughn and director Guy Ritchie to Hollywood stardom, but the producer admits it wasn’t a fun shoot for him as he tried to balance the budget and gangsters’ egos.

“I think the smaller movies are harder than the bigger movies,” he tells SFX magazine. “With the bigger films you’ve got so many people, you’ve got money, you can sometimes buy your way out of trouble.”
“When we made ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, that was the most pressure I ever had in my life. We made it for 900 grand. I had real gangsters saying they were going to blow my knees off if their part was cut out – and they couldn’t act. I thought, ‘I’m definitely cutting them out!’ And I’ve got friends to give me money so I had to get their money back. It’s the only time in my life I’ve ever had a f**king panic attack.”
“I don’t feel pressure when I’m making movies (now),” he adds. “I’m enjoying it. It’s like I’m being paid to play. It’s probably because I know what pressure is from when I was younger. When you’re broke and you’re worrying about your rent and you’re making a movie and you really have no f**king idea… I was 23 when I made my first picture. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing… That was pressure.”

  • Tom Hardy May Be Announced as the New James Bond This Year

    WENN

Words are the ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ actor has been set to replace Daniel Craig in the next 007 movie after he expressed interest in making a Bond film with Christopher Nolan.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Hardy’s name has once again surfaced in the talks about who is going to be next James Bond. Over the weekend, report emerged that the 43-year-old Brit has been set to replace Daniel Craig in an upcoming 007 movie.
According to The Vulcan Reporter, the plan was for the “Venom” star to be announced as the new Bond in November in line with the release of “No Time to Die”. However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has affected people’s response to theatrical releases, it’s likely that the announcement is pushed back to early 2021 if “No Time to Die” is delayed again.
Though Hardy has long been linked to rumors of possible Craig replacement, the latest casting speculation doesn’t seem to have a strong base so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, the Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” has several times spoken about the possibility of him becoming the next MI6 agent.

“That conversation (playing James Bond) will never happen until they’re ready to move into new pastures. I think every boy wants to play James Bond to a certain degree!” he admitted to In:Demand Showbiz back in 2015.
Two years later, he hinted that he was keen to play Bond, but didn’t want to jinx things by discussing it too much. “If I mention it, it’s gone,” he told The Daily Beast in 2017. “You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one.”
He also expressed interest in making a 007 movie with Christopher Nolan, who directed him in “Inception” and “The Dark Knight Rises”. “Oh, wow, Chris would be amazing!” he said about the possibility to Nolan taking over the 007 franchise. “Wow, that would be cool. That would be so cool.”

  • Ronnie Wood Gets Candid About Reason Behind His Sobriety in New Documentary

    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ronnie Wood vowed to get clean and give up drugs and booze after realising his vices were turning him into an unpleasant, “sour person”.
The Rolling Stones star gets candid about his addiction and sobriety in new documentary “Somebody Up There Likes Me (2020)”, which chronicles the guitarist’s amazing life and career, and reveals one last bender made him realise it was time to quit – and get help.
“Nothing was working,” he says in the film. “The coke wasn’t working. The drink wasn’t working. (I) tried one more to see if I could cut through it and I turned into this sour person. I thought, ‘This is not me’. Took the brave move again, but this time for myself, to try and abstain and clean up my act.”

Bandmate Mick Jagger admits Wood struggled with sobriety at first – but really wanted to get clean.
“It’s really hard to do,” the singer says in the film, “but he knew that he wanted to do it, which is obviously part of the thing. If you don’t want to do it, it’s really impossible. But he wanted to do it and found it really difficult to do.”
The Mike Figgis-directed documentary is now available digitally in many territories and Wood reveals the title came from the phrase he used after cancer surgery added years to his life.
“When they operated on my cancer, they took away my emphysema,” he says in the film. “They said my lungs were as if I’d never smoked. I thought…, ‘Somebody up there likes me!'”
