    Sep 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Andy Cohen has reacted to NeNe Leakes’ departure from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” After the original cast member announced that she won’t be returning for upcoming season 13, the executive producer of the reality series franchise gushed over her contribution in a heartfelt tribute.
On Thursday, September 17, the “Watch What Happens Live” host shared a series of Instagram photos of the two to share the memory he had with the reality star. In the accompaniment of the pictures, he wrote, “Nene Leakes is an icon of the genre. She is a gif and catchphrase machine. In 11 years of #WWHL, Nene has been our most frequent guest, and she is always A BLAST.”
“Nene nicknamed me ‘Buttercup’ the first day we met, and still calls me that today. Through her whole run, she has always had a serious concern and drive to maintain the success and well-being of #RHOA,” he continued. “I am going to miss Nene on the show, but I’m hoping we work together again soon and will remain in each other’s orbits forever. XO, Buttercup.”

Andy’s tribute post was soon flooded with reactions from fellow “Real Housewives” stars and other TV personalities. Gizelle Bryant from “The Real Housewives of Potomac” expressed her surprise, “Oh wow….this is sad,” while Marysol Patton from “The Real Housewives of Miami” raved over Nene, “She is the best!! I love her.. great friend through the years!! Hell Yess to the OG’s.” Celebrity fashion stylist Brad Goreski, meanwhile, bemoaned, “2020 is really killing me.”

Andy Cohen’s famous friends reacted to NeNe Leakes’ exit from ‘RHOA’.
Before Andy came out with his tribute, NeNe went public about her exit from the popular series via her YouTube channel. “I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation. There’s been a lot of emotion flying from both sides. It has been hard, and I have made the very hard and very difficult decision to not be a part of Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 13”, she divulged. “It wasn’t an easy decision for me. It was hard.”
NeNe helped launch “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” in 2008. She has since been featured in 10 seasons of the show.

  • Drew Barrymore Takes on Comedy Roles to Survive When Life Gets Tough

    WENN

The ‘Wedding Singer’ actress considers comedy as a ‘medicine’ and ‘survivalist mechanism’ to get through tough times in her personal life as she grew up under public scrutiny.
    Sep 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Drew Barrymore turned to comedy roles in an effort to get through tough times in her personal life.
The 45-year-old endured a troubled and wild youth after shooting to fame as a child star in the 1980s, but rehabilitated her career with a series of well-received romantic comedies in the late 1990s, including “The Wedding Singer” and “Never Been Kissed”.
Speaking to U.S. late night host Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (16Sep20), the star revealed that she uses comedy and laughter to get through tough periods in her life.
“Comedy to me was a subconscious survivalist mechanism,” the actress said, adding, “When I was laughing, everything else fell away and the world was awesome, it was okay.”
Explaining her outlook on life she continued, “I think laughter is medicine, and it’s necessary and we need it.”
Drew hopes to get audiences laughing with her latest venture – “The Drew Barrymore Show”, a chat vehicle that debuted in the U.S. on CBS on Monday.
Although she’s delighted to become a chat show queen, the “E.T.” star says she’s had to “go through a lot of different evolutions” before being ready to become a TV host.
“I don’t think I would have done at least what I’m hopefully excited about doing and capable of now, at any other point,” she explained.

  • Kate Winslet and Anthony Hopkins Dedicate TIFF Awards to Frontline Workers

The ‘Titanic’ actress and the ‘Nixon’ actor are feted at the virtual ceremony of the Toronto International Film Festival along with another winner ‘Nomadland’ director Chloe Zhao.
    Sep 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kate Winslet and Anthony Hopkins dedicated the awards they received at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to frontline workers fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
The British actors both took part in the second annual TIFF Tribute Awards on Tuesday (15Sep20) night – a ceremony that was conducted virtually due to Covid-19.
The fundraiser featured an introduction from Martin Scorsese and featured presenters such as Ava DuVernay, Jodie Foster, and Olivia Colman – but the main honourees Anthony and Kate chose to celebrate healthcare workers in their video speeches.
“To be giving applause to anyone other than those who have and continued to be at the forefront of the battle against this virus across the world does feel decidedly out of place,” Kate, whose film “Ammonite” has screened at the festival, said.
Expressing her sympathies for those who have lost those close to them to Covid-19, she added, “I’d like to express my deepest sympathies to families and individuals whose lives have been forever altered by this past six months.”
Anthony also used his speech to thank those who have cared for those afflicted by the disease, saying, “I want to thank frontline workers, first responders, all over the world. This award is yours. So I thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart.”
Other honourees included director Chloe Zhao, whose film “Nomadland” has been a huge hit at the festival – and she received an introduction from Colin Farrell before accepting the TIFF Ebert Director Award.
The filmmaker, who is slated to direct the new Marvel movie “The Eternals”, shared after receiving her prize, “I feel incredibly lucky that the people I work with, they’re there when I’m succeeding and they’re there even more when I fail.”
Canadian singer Shawn Mendes also appeared at the online awards bash – a centrepiece of the festival, which continues until Sunday.

Leakes helped launch the show in 2008.
