  • 'Big Brother' Star Nicole Franzel Dropped by Olay Skin After Mocking Ian Terry's Autism

    Instagram/CBS

Nicole and several other ‘Big Brother: All-Stars’ cast members have come under fire for making fun of fellow houseguest Ian, who has been open about his autism.
    Sep 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Being filmed 24/7 for a TV show, “Big Brother: All-Stars” may need to be mindful of what they say. Some of the show’s cast members have landed in hot water after they were caught on camera mocking fellow contestant Ian Terry’s autism.
In one clip which has been circulating online, Dani Briones and Nicole Franzel talked about Ian’s rocking, which is his method to cope with stress. “Memphis brought it up yesterday, and I was like I don’t want to be mean agreeing with this-because Memphis is mean sometimes-but he was like even when [Ian’s] sitting there rocking, it’s the same thing with me,” Dani said. “I can’t even look at him sometimes because his constant movement stresses me out. Do you feel like that?” Nicole was seen agreeing with Dani.
In another clip, Memphis Garrett repeated what he said about how Ian’s rocking stresses him out. “He’s just always around and it scares me,” he spoke in front of Dani, Nicole and Christmas Abbot, likening it to a scene from horror movie “The Shining”. “It’s gonna be a nightmare of him rocking at the end of my bed,” he added, while the girls were laughing.
The clips have enraged viewers, who took to social media to slam the contestants’ comments on Ian’s autism. Former “BB” contestant Janelle Pierzina, tweeted, “Instead of laughing they should be standing up for Ian. He has a disability.”
Fellow former houseguest from season 8 and 13, “Evel” Dick Donato, asked in disbelief, “What in the f**k is wrong with them?” Season 18 and 19 runner-up Paul Abrahamian added, “[There’s] a special place in hell for those who make fun of people with disabilities.”
Season 15’s contestant Andy Herren urged the show’s producers to take action. “If production can tell houseguests to stop singing, they can tell houseguests to stop making fun of someone with autism. #BB22,” he wrote.
“Big Brother” has not released a statement on the controversy, and the “All-Stars” cast doesn’t seem to be aware of the issue, but some companies are already taking action. Olay Skin has decided to part ways with Nicole following her involvement in the conversations about Ian’s autism.
“We no longer have a business relationship with this person and have no plans for future work together,” the company announced via Twitter on Thursday, September 10. “We have zero-tolerance for bullying and we do not support the behavior displayed by this person.”
Ian, who won season 14 of “Big Brother” in 2012, opened up about being on the autism spectrum when he joined the “All-Stars” season. “This is like autistic hell, and I mean, you know, you can tell right?” he said of living in the “Big Brother” house. “I’m autistic…I gave up on trying to hide it.”

  • Halle Berry's Heart Aches for Being the Only Black Woman to Ever Win Best Actress at Oscars

    WENN

The Catwoman actress calls her 2002 triumph at the Academy Awards one of her ‘biggest heartbreaks’ as she knew other black women should have been there before and after her.
    Sep 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Halle Berry’s 2002 Academy Award’s success is one of her “biggest heartbreaks” because “there was no place for someone like me” in Hollywood.
The actress took home the Best Actress prize for the film “Monster’s Ball”, making her the first Black woman to win the award – and she remains the only Black woman to have achieved the honour to date.
Despite the success, in an interview with Variety, the star reflected on the win and what has come since, including a deficit of role offers which has tainted her achievement.
“I think it’s largely because there was no place for someone like me,” Berry said. “I thought, ‘Oh, all these great scripts are going to come my way; these great directors are going to be banging on my door.’ It didn’t happen.”
She admitted, “It actually got a little harder. They call it the Oscar curse. You’re expected to turn in award-worthy performances.”
Nearly two decades after accepting the award, the star is astonished that no other Black woman has matched her accomplishment.
“I thought there were women that rightfully, arguably, could have, should have. I hoped they would have, but why it hasn’t gone that way, I don’t have the answer,” she insisted, naming “Harriet” ‘s Cynthia Erivo and “Loving” star Ruth Negga.
The “Catwoman” star continued, “It’s one of my biggest heartbreaks… The morning after, I thought, ‘Wow, I was chosen to open a door.’ And then, to have no one… I question, ‘Was that an important moment, or was it just an important moment for me?’ ”
“I wanted to believe it was so much bigger than me. It felt so much bigger than me, mainly because I knew others should have been there before me and they weren’t.”

  • 'Black Widow' to Feature #MeToo Story

    Walt Disney Pictures

Scarlett Johansson teases what to expect from the upcoming Avengers movie spin-off that is going to focus on her Marvel superhero character Natasha Romanoff.
    Sep 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Scarlett Johansson’s forthcoming “Black Widow” movie is set to feature a #MeToo storyline.
In a recent interview with British movie magazine Empire, the leading lady opened up on the plot of her new film, teasing it is “very much reflective” of the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements.
“It would be such a miss if we didn’t address that stuff, if this film didn’t take that head-on,” she explained. “I think, particularly for Cate (Shortland, director), it was so important for her to make a movie about women who are helping other women, who lift other women up out of a very difficult situation.”
“Someone asked me if Natasha (Romanoff, aka Black Widow) was a feminist,” Scarlett added of her Marvel character. “Of course she is, it’s obvious. It’s kinda an asinine question.”
“Black Widow” is set to hit theatres on 6 November (20).

  • Kate Winslet Grappling With Regrets After Working With Woody Allen and Roman Polanski

    WENN

The ‘Titanic’ actress says she has to take responsibility for her error of judgment as she regrets working with Woody Allen in ‘Wonder Wheel’ and Roman Polanski in ‘Carnage’.
    Sep 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kate Winslet regrets making films with accused sexual predators Woody Allen and Roman Polanski.
The actress reflected on her work with the filmmakers in a new interview with Vanity Fair, years after teaming with Polanski for “Carnage” in 2011 and with Allen for “Wonder Wheel” in 2017.
“It’s like, what the f**k was I doing working with Woody Allen and Roman Polanski?” she says. “It’s unbelievable to me now how those men were held in such high regard, so widely in the film industry and for as long as they were. It’s f**king disgraceful.”
“I have to take responsibility for the fact that I worked with them both. I can’t turn back the clock. I’m grappling with those regrets but what do we have if we aren’t able to just be f**king truthful about all of it?”
Winslet previously defended her decision to work with both directors back in 2017, telling The New York Times, “Of course one thinks about it, but at the same time, I didn’t know Woody and I don’t know anything about that family. As the actor in the film, you just have to step away and say, ‘I don’t know anything, really, and whether any of it is true or false’. Having thought it all through, you put it to one side and just work with the person.”
She continued, “Woody Allen is an incredible director. So is Roman Polanski. I had an extraordinary working experience with both of those men, and that’s the truth.”
Winslet also tells Vanity Fair that while she was focused on the quality of her work for much of her career, she now realises she has a responsibility to speak out.
She adds, “I feel so fortunate to have been in a position for a good many years, where I could hold my own, keep my head down, and try and produce decent work… but it’s easy to lose one’s voice along the way and to lose sight of the responsibility that comes with that. And I don’t want to f**k that up. I know that I can always do better.”
Allen has never been charged with any crime, despite ongoing sex abuse claims from his daughter, while Polanski fled America after he was found guilty of criminal behaviour and rape following a tryst with a minor at a Hollywood party in the late 1970s. He has been in exile in Europe ever since.
