    Aug 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton are joining Ewan McGregor for Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio” revamp.
The stars have signed on to appear in the filmmaker’s stop-motion animated musical version of author Carlo Collodi’s classic tale, along with “Harry Potter” star David Bradley, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Burn Gorman. The all-star production is set to air on Netflix.
“After years of pursuing this dream project, I found my perfect partner in Netflix,” del Toro, who will be directing with Mark Gustafson, said in a statement. “We have spent a long time curating a remarkable cast and crew and have been blessed by continuous support from Netflix to quietly and carefully soldier on, barely missing a beat. We all love and practice animation with great passion and believe it to be the ideal medium to retell this classic story in a completely new way.”
Del Toro and Patrick McHale have penned the script for the latest version of the tale and they have recruited Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat to compose the score.
The film has been in the works since last autumn (19).
Meanwhile, director Robert Zemeckis is also working on a live-action “Pinocchio” revamp for Disney with Tom Hanks as his Geppetto.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly pitching their new project to various U.S. network bosses following her voiceover in docuseries ‘Elephants’.
    Aug 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are seeking to establish themselves as Hollywood producers by shopping a top secret new project to industry executives.
According to Variety, the British royals, who recently settled in California after stepping away from official duties earlier this year (20), are currently pitching an idea to various U.S. network chiefs, and although few details about the proposal are known, sources claim the couple wants to serve as joint producers.
The insiders also insist Meghan has no desire to return to the screen as an actress.
One of the meetings Harry and Meghan recently had reportedly involved NBCUniversal executive Bonnie Hammer, who has a history with the Duchess from her time on hit legal drama “Suits”.
Representatives for the couple and for NBCUniversal have declined to comment on the report, which emerges four months after Meghan returned to her career roots to narrate Disney+ docuseries “Elephants”.
Prince Harry has already tried his hand as a producer after partnering with media mogul Oprah Winfrey in 2019 to develop an Apple TV+ series about mental health. The programme is expected to premiere later this year.

  • David Henrie Shares Ideas for 'Wizards of Waverly Place' Reboot

    Disney Channel

The former Disney actor teases his ideas for a possible reboot of his hit television show as he claims the cast members would love to revive the series.
    Aug 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Wizards of Waverly Place” actor David Henrie has insisted his co-stars are all on board for a potential reboot.
The star appeared in the hit Disney Channel series, about the adventures of three siblings who are wizards in training, alongside singer/actress Selena Gomez from 2007 to 2012.
David reunited with Greg Sulkin for their upcoming movie, “This Is the Year”, and reflecting on the fun they had working on the romantic comedy, he revealed if a reunion of the beloved series is a possibility.
“Nothing has happened yet, but there’s a lot of talk…we all talk about it for fun,” David admitted. “Everyone would be down, but it’s just a matter of time I think.”
Sharing his ideas for a reboot, David told Access, “I think what we said made the show special, was that we were a family, and that the family stuff together was like a family unit.”
“I think a great place to start the show would be the opposite version of that, so you have somewhere to go throughout the series. So if you started the show where the family’s divided, and not united…”
Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals Barrera, and David DeLuise also starred in the popular show.

On Tuesday, August 18, the dancer took to Instagram to express her excitement. “It’s actually happening!!! I am over the moon to be a first time PRO on Season 29 of @dancingabc,” she began her post. “My heart is filled with gratitude to have been given this opportunity.”
“I can hardly contain my excitement to step into this new position,” she continued. “Congratulations to the rest of my beautiful #DWTS family. I love you and can’t wait to be back in the ballroom with you all.”

When speaking to ET about her appointment as pro-dancer, Stewart gushed, “I’m just so grateful, so excited and over the moon, honestly. Ever since I found out, I just don’t really know what to do with myself. So much excitement, so much emotion.” She added that she had learned about it around a week prior.
On how she initially reacted to the news, the “High School Musical” dancer spilled, “When it set in, emotion really took over.” She went on admitting, “I started crying and then immediately when I got off the Zoom call [with producers] I called my mom and I was just like, ‘Ahh!’ and just all the tears were flowing.”

Having this opportunity and position is just so beautiful. I’m so happy to take it on and also be a part of a show that celebrates diversity,” she pointed out.
“When I was there for five seasons on troupe and two tours I always felt celebrated – for not just my race, but for all of me,” the dancer, who had been a full-time member of the show’s troupe since 2016, added. “Also, being part of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, which has that sort of love and openness for equality, is an honor as well.”

Alan Bersten, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Brandon Armstrong, Jenna Johnson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Pasha Pashkov, Peta Murgatroyd, Gleb Savchenko and Cheryl Burke are among the returning pros, while Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson will be absent due to their pregnancies.

  • 'Below Deck Med' Star Hannah Ferrier 'Disappointed' She Gets Fired Over Valium

    Instagram

In an interview, the reality TV star admits she doesn’t like how she’s being painted ‘as some sort of drug addicts’ when she uses valium as anti-anxiety medication.
    Aug 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Hannah Ferrier is not hiding her disappointment over her surprise firing from “Below Deck Mediterranean”. The reality TV star opened up in a new interview that she did not like how she was portrayed “as some sort of drug addicts” on the Bravo series since she used Valium as anti-anxiety medication.
Sharing her thought on her exit after the airing of the Monday, August 17 episode, the 33-year-old admitted to Decider, “I’m actually just really disturbed. I think especially seeing how it played out.” She added, “I think I’ve just been really disappointed because I feel I’m being painted as some sort of drug addict or what have you.”
“Which is just so sad, because there are so many people in the world that suffer from mental illness,” she went on to state. “And it’s 2020. We shouldn’t be making people feel like a lesser for taking medication for mental illness. Or making them feel like they can’t do a job, or they can’t do what normal people can do.”
Hannah was discharged from being a member of The Wellington crew by Captain Sandy Yawn after unregistered Valium and a CBD vape pen were discovered in her belongings following a report by bosun Malia White. However, she defended herself on Twitter days before the airing of the August 17 episode that her Valium was “prescribed” and the CBD is “legal in Spain.”

Hannah Ferrier defended herself on Twitter that her medications were legal.
In another tweet, Hannah responded to a fan’s speculation on what happened between her and Malia that led to her firing. “No…she went into my cabin AFTER we had the fight about cabin arrangements…Then went through my handbag and took a photo of my prescribed medication and legal CBD and sent it to Sandy,” she clarified.

Hannah Ferrier responded to a fan’s speculation on what happened between her and Malia White that led to her firing.
During her chat with Decider, Hannah was asked about her reaction when she watched the whole incident portrayed on the show. “Obviously when I’m in the moment, it’s very confronting. It’s very shocking,” she responded. “I think especially just saying things like, ‘Is she flushing the drugs?’ ”
“You can see on my face when she opens that bathroom door. My pants are undone. I’m going to the bathroom. I’m like, why would I flush my medication? But it wouldn’t have crossed my mind to flush Valium, because I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong,” she elaborated. “It’s anti-anxiety medication. It’s like, it’s five milligrams of Valium! It was just disappointing.”
Though insisting that Valium is not something she was hiding, Hannah did accept that she made a mistake by “not clearing it when I brought it on the boat.” On the reason why, she explained, “Because I’ve always had it, every year. It just wasn’t really a process that went through my mind. That was my mistake. But yeah, it certainly wasn’t something I was trying to hide.”
Asked what she would have done differently had she have the opportunity, Hannah replied, “Obviously, I would have declared the medication when I went on board. If I knew it was going to turn out like this, I probably just wouldn’t have done the season.”

In this episode, “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson joined judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara as a guest judge as Simon Cowell is still recovering following electric bike accident.
Kicking off the night was Kelvin Dukes, who performed a rendition of Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” from a New York set on the Universal Studios. His dance moves successfully impressed the judges as Howie told him that he’s so good at everything. Sofia added that he’s a “born performer,” while Heidi dubbed him “one of her favorite acts this season.”

Following it up was The Shape who once again offered an amazing dance routine. Sofia raved about the performance, saying that she liked the location they chose for their shoot. Alexis Brownley and the Puppy Pals then showed more stunning dog tricks which earned her compliments from Sofia. BONAVEGA took the stage to perform a mash-up of The Weeknd with an electric guitar solo. Judges, however, thought that he performed better in his first audition.

The Spyros Bros then performed from the Universal Studios lot which made their performance look even better as they incorporated a diabolo in the middle of their performance. As for Daneliya Tuleshova, she opted to sing Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times”. It was such an epic performance, enough to make the judges give her a standing ovation.

In the episode, Jonathan Goodwin performed what he claimed to be one of the most dangerous acts, “Trial by Fire”. Before he started, Heidi came to check all of the contraptions. Jonathan, whose head was locked in a box and handcuffed, had to escape before a 20-second fire ring would burn him alive. For the dangerous performance, Heidi called him “fully insane.” Howie and Sofia also enjoyed it though they admitted that it was stressful.
Concluding the night was Voices of Our City Choir of San Diego, who performed a new arrangement of “Stand by Me”. It gives the judges chills with the performance.
Only five of them will advance to the next round. The results will be revealed in the Wednesday, August 19 episode.

  • NBCUniversal Executive Ron Meyer Resigns Following Alleged Extortion and Affair

    WENN

The Hollywood executive has stepped down from his longtime post at the company after allegedly making a settlement, under threat, with a woman due to false accusations.
    Aug 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Longtime NBCUniversal executive Ron Meyer is stepping down following an alleged extortion attempt linked to an affair.
NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell announced the news in a company memo, obtained by Deadline on Tuesday (18Aug20), insisting Meyer and the company agreed it was time for him to exit his position after 25 years.
“Late last week Ron Meyer informed NBCUniversal that he had acted in a manner which we believe is not consistent with our company policies or values,” Shell wrote. “Based on Ron’s disclosure of these actions, we have mutually concluded that Ron should leave the company, effective immediately. We thank Ron for his 25 years of service, and for his significant contributions to NBCUniversal.”
Meyer has issued his own statement, elaborating on the reasons behind his exit, explaining he made a settlement, under threat, with “a woman outside the company who had made false accusations against me.”
He adds, “Admittedly, this is a woman I had a very brief and consensual affair with many years ago. I made this disclosure because other parties learned of the settlement and have continuously attempted to extort me into paying them money or else they intended to falsely implicate NBCUniversal, which had nothing to do with this matter, and to publish false allegations about me.”
“After I disclosed this matter to the company, we mutually decided that I should step down from my role as Vice Chairman of NBCUniversal… I regret what has happened and I am sorry for all the people in my life I may have let down, especially and most importantly, my family.”
